DNF. I wasn't planning to do this one because I did not feel like going to the beach in the rain. But then, I drove by WP1 as I was doing other caches, and I thought I might as well grab the numbers. Did the calculations in the car and the rain stopped for a moment. So, I drove to WP2 and started to look for the lights and poles. After some search at some rocks and shrubs. I came out empty-handed. I reached out to a past finder, but they couldn't recall the exact hide. So, DNF it is then.
Malgr le bon relev d'informations (j'imagine...) et la vrification des calculs plusieurs fois, je n'arrive pas mettre les pieds dans le sable pour le premier Waypoint... Impossible donc de chercher cette cache. Aurais-je mal interprt quelque chose ?Despite reading the correct information (I imagine...) and checking the calculations several times, I can't put my feet in the sand for the first Waypoint... It's therefore impossible to look for this cache. Did I misinterpret something?
Day 4 of our caching adventure to the wildfoods festival and back. Time to turn around and head north again with Mr-Mcgoo and Justlooking00. Caching from Hokitika to Picton today. Seeking out oldies and goodies.
A great day today as after a bacon butty on the beach we returned to this cache with a bit more intel from a prior finder to success Yah. We visited two days ago and I obviously have the wrong WP to start from, which became clear as while the projections all made sense our rather long search led no where. I must admit it was quite an impressive and wide search so not sure what any locals thought! but in the end we had to call it. This time we had a bit more knowledge and were about another 30m further down from where we stopped searching. Cache duly found very quickly this time and now I'm itching to know how to calculate WP1 correctly? Great fun had - when a cache makes you really work for it, thank you Moneydork.

(# 7590) Day 4 of the West Coast trip primarily to go to the Wild Food Festival in Hokitika. Today we are traveling from Hokitika to Picton. A quick find today after failing dismally a few days ago. We had to reach out to a previous finder for a little bit of help. Thanks for bringing me here.
Spending the winter woofing, tramping and exploring the west coast caching along the way ..of course..
Back in greymouth for a while working at the Noah's ark backpackers...so a good base to tick off a few more..
Set myself a mission to hit 8000 finds by the end of the year...that's an average of 6 a day ..
Misinterpreted the instructions on my first attempt but was on the right track today ..found out in the relative open so put back in a spot that matched the hint..fun concept for a night cache..tftc

I tried to do this one on a previous trip. Got to the beach but couldnt find it. Today we were back in daylight, like previous finders I'd rather do it in daylight to avoid the blackberries as it was I had to get the container hand it back to Nanzie to sign and then return without moving then she had to untangle the prickles from my clothing so I could move again. Great idea for a night cache though. Thanks Moneydork

Solved the first part of this while planning our West Coast holiday, discussed likely angles of illumination with Mr D - ah the joys of modern technology! Stopped on the way back from the Port Elizabeth walkway and wandered around the beach a bit. Lined up by guesswork, that took us to a possible area. After some nervousness about encroaching bramble, unlikely to get muggled here! there it is. Hard enough in broad daylight - wouldn't like to face that blackberry by night!
After walking to the Coal Creek Falls it was time to move on to Cobden and sign off a few caches here. We stopped off here on the way to somewhere else. I was looking at the wrong thing and was pointed in the right direction to see the error of my ways - how weird! So numbers sorted we moved off to complete the next exercise and after a bit of trial and error there was that marvellous thud of stick on plastic. We were all pretty pleased with ourselves to have sorted this cache - an oldie and a goodie! TFTC # 14,559
This looked like one of those caches that I probably would have given up before I started had I been caching by myself but working on it as part of a team where we all contributed ideas and observations made it a fun cache and made us feel like we had really achieved something when we signed the log. Thanks .
We were here with 2 other cachers and was a real group effort. The first point was spotted by one, the second by another and a third found the cache. It was lots of fun.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Finally! Thanks to some hints from Gracie 7 & Mum and some long searching we finally could tikc the box. We did not make it a night time challenge after we failed last time at night. Good to have this box finally found. TFTC
Great cache ..I appreciate this type of challenge...worked out where GZ should be ...then the challenge ..it was not as bad as I thought ..at GZ all made sense and soon the container was found along with the nasty thorny guardian ...thanks money dork great cache...fav from me
Yay, this was a great cache to do. We stayed at freedom camping spot on the beach but neither of us could be bothered walking a km to get the information. This morning was raining heavily but we were determined to di this cache challenge. A long walk in pouring rain later the final coordinates were plugged in. This afternoon there was a brief break in the weather so we sacrificed our prime parking spot a drove here. Once at final gz the pieces all fell into place. Lots of black berry guarding the entrance to the cache but some strategic maneuvering got it. Thanks for bringing us here moneydork
Knowing we would end up on the beach with very uneven ground we decided to try this one in daylight. Getting the numbers at WP1 was easy, likewise converting them to figure out where we wanted to go. My GPS refused to settle there so I ignored that and just followed the instructions on the cache page after locating the pole with two lights. Then I began an inspection of all likely spots to find the cache. Hazedarus had disappeared by this stage so I just carried on and as I approached the final likely hidey-hole I looked up to see him approaching from the beach again on the same trajectory apparently having decided to start over. He arrived in time to hand me my walking pole to assist in retrieving the elusive container.
Thank you Moneydork.
Thank you Moneydork.
One week of the school holidays are already gone and we have a few days off looking after grandson. He's not adverse to caching but the weather wasn't that great and a new game for the Xbox had priority. We got the numbers and were soon lining up the lights. Taking the hint from Gracie7 we gave it a whirl in daylight and finished up not far from where we later found the cache. After a fruitless search I started all over and stuck determined to the line no matter the obstacles. It got us at a slightly different spot that looked very much like the hint item. Holymu made an almost instant find. Thank you Moneydork
Third and last find in Greymouth today. This was a targeted cache due to a favourable D/T rating, and we were keen to tackle it in daytime, as a few people had said it could be done.
Rocked up at WP1, strained our necks and got the numbers. Then off to the final. Worked out what had to line up with what and started walking. This is the bit where it might have been easier in the dark - maybe we were lining up the wrong things, but a thorough search brought no rewards. On a hunch I lined up what I thought were another couple of hint items and tried various spots along that line, and eventually, after 10 minutes, hit paydirt. This is the bit where it was definitely easier in the daylight - that would have been a difficult find in the dark. TFTC Moneydork, all good here.
Today was day one of 7 on a trip around the South Island for Jo and I, and the first leg is Blenheim to Hokitika. An early start and on our road trip we targeted caches after St Arnaud. That was the desired plan, but necessitated by the fact it was still dark as we drove through there anyway. After that it was pretty much find anything on our side of the road as we drove west, but as we moved on we set goals to be in certain towns by certain times, so skipped large chunks. The weather changed from light drizzle to full on rain, which also scuppered some plans on targeted caches and left us cold and wet for most of the trip.
But all up a good day.
Jo used to live in these parts, but hasn’t been here for about 16 years; for me it has been about 13 since a trip down here. So we enjoyed the scenery, and the changes, and also the caches so credit and thanks to all the COs for maintaining these.

We checked on this one today after the King Tide came through here last week. We had to fight with the blackberry abit but the original logbook is still holding up well! Shame that this is not done more often. Maybe the fact that it says night in the title puts people off. I can quite easily be done in daylight. Happy Caching
#14848. We were muggled by IolantheK and T-Tech while looking for the (now archived) Ponder. We spent time chatting and doing a bit more looking. Eventually it started getting dark, and thoughts turned to this night cache. T-Tech had gone off in search of greener caching pastures (Coastal Birds) so we drove there and found him busy searching 10 or 20m from GZ. We pointed him in the right direction and then went in search of the lampost. We didn't see the number on it (but when I biked past the next day it was easy to see in the light) but worked out the number easily enough. The coordinates of the waypoint were soon calculated and by the time we got there light was fading fast. We soon worked out the area the cache was in, but by then it was dark and we had trouble locating the cache. I headed back to the car to get our torches and walking poles, and located the cache soon after I got back. After an enjoyable joint mission with IolantheK and T-Tech, we dropped them back at their campervan, and then headed back to our accommodation for the night. Good to finally do this cache after neglecting it on a number of previous visits. TFTC.
T-Tech and I are travelling around South Island for 6 weeks
We stayed at Murchison last night, and today we are heading west to Greymouth, as T-Tech wants to drive back across to Christchurch tomorrow through Arthur's Pass [^] We set up camp in the car park, and about an hour later, a couple of folk turned up looking suspiciously like geocachers, and we got to meet Troodles and StreetWalkerNZ Then the four of us decided to have a go at this one.
The first lamp post is missing its number plate, but we could work it out from the nearby ones. Numbers crunched and we headed over to WP2, where we eventually managed to get everything to line up It took a lot of searching and crawling around in the bushes but finally StreetWalkerNZ yelled out he'd got it. TFTC, Moneydork.

Over from Brisbane for a number of weeks "motorhoming" around the South Island with IolantheK [^]
Now on our way back to the west coast before heading East again via Arthur's Pass, and grabbing caches between views [^]
Greymouth was great [^]
After some help with another cache "locals" (or at least New Zealanders) Troodles and StreetWalkerNZ transported us around to try our hand at this one [^]
Between the four of us we cobbled the information required to get to the next WP (t'was a bit of missing info that needed extrapolating )
Near the final we arranged ourselves as per the cache description and came up with a viable search location [^] Now the hard work began the site has a health growth of blackberry (great stuff in the dark) and it took StreetWalkerNZ, his powerful torch and some good prodding before a container was exposed (it's not as though the rest of us did nothing it's just that his probing found the prize)
Cache in good condition [^]
TFTC Moneydork A favourite point from me just for some thing different and the memory

Found with StreetWalkerNZ on a long weekend jaunt to Greymouth.
Despite having had several caching visits to Greymouth, we have never tried this night cache, but as we were staying north of the river this time, we made it our mission to give it a go.
We had the good fortune of being muggled by Aussie cachers IolantheK and T-Tech at a previous cache, so they accompanied us - the more eyes, the better
After a wee bit of sleuthing, we had some co-ords and were soon at the final. It took a bit of hunting to ferret out the cache - but only SW had the fortitude to hunt deeper past the blackberry. A great end to the day.
Enjoyed this challenge, thanks Moneydork. TFTC.

Visiting my sister in Cobden and we took the kids for a walk to the beach. While we were here we searched for the cache (yes - searched!) it had been over 6 and a half years since we originally found it and the beach has changed alot. I hadnt saved our calculated coords for the final so we were searching from memory. Took about 10min with 3 of us searching. Pleased to say the cache is all good. Abit of moisture in the swaps bag which Mum wiped dry and we double bagged the original logbook from 2005. Sad that this cache isnt visited very much
After 3rd try to found this one come back during daylight took mission to grab it was over grown
It was getting dark and we were wondering if the lights were ever going to come on. We were also wondering if on a wet and foggy night we'd be able to see what's needed even with the lights on. The light's came on as we walked to WP2 and on a foggy night everything works as it should. We loved this multi and haven't found one like it before. TFTC Moneydork, left GEI-DK 12 TB and a favourite point.
Had a bit of time to fill in and it was dark so decided to give this a go. Turned out a good decision. ..... The instructions seemed a bit strange until we got to the second wp then it all fell into place and the log was soon signed. Nice change to the typical type of cache. TFTC.
[Green] Drove down Friday night for a three day wages to petrol extravaganza. Doing the Blenheim - Greytown - Westport Blenheim loop. Drove to Reefton Friday night so I could grab some empty log books early the next morning. That done its on with the main mission. An awesome three day experience, only about 30 caches per day, but two badge upgrades, wekas, seals and penguins, an awesome coast road and coastal walk. Wonderful.
Spent the night along the road here, then up at first light (okay, WAY before first light) to get stuck into today's workload.
Discovered this multi - I should have done it last night. But it is still dark, so off I go.Had a bit of trouble at the lamp post - it looked like the number had been removed. Checked another - same. That can't be right! Ah - there it is. Back to the first post, then everything went swimmingly. Loved this interesting take on a multi, gets a favourite from me.

That was different. In the area at night so gave it a go. Got a little confused in the last part but worked it out. Some nasties never by GZ but was able to find a clear way to cache. Awesome cache. Tftc
We had a few 'huh?' moments, but soon had cache in hand, thanks for the night time adventure
Well, a bit of figuring out what we were looking for from home based on the last log and onto the final. Wow, a few options to look around and for 20 minutes we did. However, Karma Reprint scored the winning GZ and flashed his torch around in excitement. The last of 86 finds for the day and time for bed. Cheers.
Persistance paid off at the GZ for the cache. Hint was spot on, though did take 20 minutes to find. Last for the night. Back to the camping ground for a well earned rest. Found on a weekend trip to the Coast with Kiwi Moose. Thanks for the hide.
Had my eye on this one and the time was right (~10.00pm) to make an attempt. Got to GZ and found the odd one out, but alas no number! However by observation made an assumption and based my calculations off that which had me where I thought I should be. After eyeing up the surrounding area I focussed on where I thought I needed to go and starting walking to a spot I thought worth investigating. Was happy to come up with the goods after a short search, accompanied by some minor battle scars to show off back at base.
A fun enjoyable challenge which gets a favourite from us (surprised it doesn't have more) and good to have an older cache which also hasn't been found for a while. TFTC, #5852

Yipee!
Training over for the day so Kiwicampnut and I headed out for some finds. #6 and final for the evening.
Looked at the logs and wondered why no-one had found it for nearly a year!
There is no number on the required post, but some detective work revealed the likely number. Then the calculated co-ords led to a sensible place so we followed the instructions and (eventually) voila!
A great feeling to find one that hadn't been found for so long.

RuruNZ and I found this almost a year after it was last found. Done without the first clue available but we used our heads and looked either side. While doing this had a group of male muggles asking what you doing so we said treasure hunting. "Where's the treasure?" -replied we needed to find the clues to find it. "what's the treasure?" By now I moved off and he was still asking questions. Enjoyed the working out of rest of multi and found just as another lot of young muggles in vehicle stopped and asked us if we had seen a green laser - No we said and they hooned off. Must be all the Irish out partying . Happy St Patricks Day. Kiwicampnut
Did this cache on dusk just as the lights were coming on. Great way to pinpoint the location. Walked right to it! TFTC
Unlike most of the recent finders of this cache, I did do it in total darkness. A really good different approach to a night cache. Worked out fine. Soon found cache after a short search. SL TFTC
tried with gracie7 the first time she did but didnt come back with her the next day. glad to finally finish this one. TFTC
Did the first part in the dark but by the time we got to the beach it was too dark to have a look and the prickles put us off a bit Came back today to finish it and it was a fast find. TOOK - Paper Clips & Die LEFT - Jax Spinning Top & Bowling Pin

Believe it or not we actually did this during the day. Was definately a challange. TFTC
2nd night cache today. Done without cheating during the day, anyway . Found this to be extremely precise, so was an easy find. Similar to your other night cache that starts at the platform, so I guess I was in the groove. I needed this "win" before I completely munted "gutva rug sb frehgnrep", which is supposedly easier? Hmmmm. TFTC.
We grabbed the number during the day and returned at night to work out the second part of the puzzle. The difficulty rating had us worried but once we got to the final location the lights 'lined up' and everything fell into place. TFTC
Was apprehensive approaching this one as I thought it may have been an elusive find but no the cache was quickly in hand.
I visited the published coords earlier in the day and after a short investigation was happy with my pole number. In fact later that afternoon, after visiting the Nikau Stop cache, I stopped off to see what I could see. The double light and the nearby pole were quite apparent from on the beach but being unable at the time to make out where the distant light was stymied me. I checked under a few rocks before abandoning and waiting for nightfall - after all there was another nearby nighttime cache that I was going to return for after dark. I returned to the beach after dark and the cache was discovered in a very short while - actually under the first rock I checked. By the way, the power company have fixed the broken light but you still have only a 50/50 chance of which is the correct one to use. T4TC.
We found it!!!!! I had a dream that it was inside a fake rock - which it isn't - but we happened to find, nearby a piece of sponge that looked just like a fake rock!! " I found it!" shouted my seeker friend, who handed the pretend rock - then she yelled "I found it!" again - this time she was serious! Sorry to all the people who like these things done covert, we were hugging and dancing about! lol But the RUSH is something that feeds the need to SEEK!!!!!
We went back in the day time to have a look for the cache and can see why its a grade 4!
We also found something in a black plastic bag with chain and towel which was dead and gave my seeker a fright!!
We are very happy - also found a cache coin we will log!

We had trouble with this one - We think our GPS is giving us a hard time! Will try again though when we get issues ironed out!!
A great cache with a nice "nocturnal" twist. But Ssshhh, I had to go and do it on a lovely sunny afternoon - actually that made it harder, I'm sure. Still, the prize was soon in hand. I have not the slightest idea whether any of the lights are working!!

A fairly easy cache - as long your your eyesight is good and you can see the pole that has two lights, with one not working Good fun, and very accurate final position. Cheers Gav [1912]
Wow what a great cache . Found with Pinot Noir and there was much discussion as to whether the instructions should be followed exactly or interpreted slightly, but I did as instructed and all of a sudden the pole was over the light!
Thanks very much for the cache.
Thanks very much for the cache.
There wasn't that much discussion really. Only on which pole to which light that's all (smartly-badgermushroom). By the way, it's our first night cache and we loved it. Thanks very much. - button + stapler

Great! Worked out well for us. Very nice on the beach at nearly midnight with the sound of the surf.

BLOOD! Plenty was shed on this one, we discovered the first waypoint however it appeared the numbers were missing on the pole so we checked the others and came to our own conclusions. As it turned out they were right and we ended up in the right spot. A little accident was had at the final spot as someone stepped in a hole and fell over a rock backwards. However his stumbling was not without its rewards as the cache was right in that spot. Well done to B. TNLN
I must apologise here and now for the names I called Moneydork while doing this cache. It took a few attempts at reading the clues to finally figure it out, but having completed it was quite rewarding. It was almost worth missing the All Blacks game...
We even had a very friendly cat to keep us company.
A really neat cache.
Where do you get the ideas?
+ Subway toy & shoe keyring
- bear and saop

Found the two WPs very early in the morning and marked the likely cache spot. Returned when it was light and found the cache pretty quickly after referring to clue. Thanks for the unusual cache Moneydork.
Found the first waypoint while it was still light and made our way to the second waypoint. We were trying to make sense of the instructions and work out what to do while we were waiting for the lights to come on. We nearly gave up as the rain was getting heavier, but it all came together just in time for us to find the cache!
Thanks

We did the first bit just before dark then came back for the second bit at 9.45pm. We floundered around a bit but finally found it.
Very innovative cache. Thanks Moneydork for dragging us out after dark.

We found this with help, must learn to read the notes first, not after blundering around in the dark for a couple of hours. Thanks Moneydork
Had help with this, we did not read all the cache notes, so by the time we found it the sun was up well above the rain [O)]
