As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Checked on GZ to find that it needs to be moved slightly due to the change in environment...no more than 20m should do it. Big Grin

Now to arrange for a bigger and better hide.

Went to this one without reading the log.
No wonder we couldn't find it.
Our gps for some reason kept saying we needed to be in the fenced compound. But did a search to where we thought it would be and found the hole in the wall so, assumed it had been taken.
Any way it was worth it for the views.Smile

27-Sep-07
Temporary disabled until i check up on it again.....was too busy on the weekend to get there (1.5km from my house in Mackay).

Will be back online in a month or two....

Yeah the gaping hole in the wall where the hint says it should have been suggests that it has been badly muggled. Oh well.

25-Aug-07
Quick visit to this one on the way home from chasing down thumbs up for Mackay. It appears that this Cache has gone AWOL. Sad GPS led me right to the point and can see the open holed area as per the clue. May need to be checked as tiggerhunters also said that it has possibly been raided when they paid it a visit.
It's still a good view

tks ALLL

24-Jul-07

Found around 6pm with my aunt and one of my geoferal kids. Easily found after a short search of the area. Took nothing, but left a geocoin and 3 travel bugs.

12-Jun-07

A great view of Mackay after a fairly steep climb up to the parking area.
The guy in the house nearby does need to cut down his palm trees so that we all can get a better view.
Found cache after a spot of searching
TNLN SL Thanks to Map Monkey

29-May-07
Called in to droppoff Californian Geo Coin. The clue for Pandanus Cove is missing.

07-May-07
Was in Mackay for the weekend and had a geocoin to drop off.

I have found this cache in the past so I thought it would be an ideal drop off spot. Couldn't find it, heaps of broken bottles around so not sure if it has been muggled or not. Took some photos of the coin to at least show its journey and brought it home to Townsville.

It took me two attempts to find this one. The first time the GPS wouldnt settle. Walking back to the car, I checked the clues, and returned where the location quickly revealed itself. Found at 1050 hrs. 2nd for the day. Left Water Me TB, and removed a bit of geojunk.

Cheers

Found the cache without too much hastle. The day very hot! but lovely and clear. First time to this area even though living in Mackay all my life. Fantastic views of Mackay and surrounding areas. The climb up the hill a bit of a surprise. Took the bag with bangles and left a small aussie flag in honour of Australia Day. Thanks for the clue.

21-Dec-06
We had to revisit this one to pick up a clue for a new multi. Although we had to make a quick phone call to find out the new co-ordinates as we didn't have them with us. Can we claim this as another find as it is in a new position? Razz Actually it is now located in one of the first spots we looked for it on our previous visit. Thanks for your help Map Monkey.

20-Dec-06
After asking directions from a couple of workers near the previous cache we still got lost between trying to follow their directions and the GPS directions.
We were a little concerned whether the recently aquired bus would make it up the rather steep pinch to the top. But it did. Found at 9.30am and what a delightful sightseeing spot.
And Yes He Goon! corner does mean corner. Spent a little time scratching through the bushes for this one.
Thanks Map Monkey for the encouragment to look over your patch.

Found the cache at 1.40pm. Great view - Thank you for bring us here. No swap. Thank you for organise the cache and hunt.

16-Sep-06
Great view from this point, and cache not to difficult to find. Just have to wait for a break in the traffic of visitors. Like to see how the people who live on this steep hill get their caravans and boats up there.
Thanks agsmky.

Found my way to the top (almost) by car then hoofed it up some steps to the lookout. Grabbed the cache soon afterwards Big Grin Panoramic mid arvo views today with the tide in.

We'd never been to the top of Mt. Oscar before, even though we live in Mackay. In fact, it was quite a trick to find the road (we didn't) without a map. Eventually we came up High St. and used the steps.

We were also surprised that a suitable hiding place could be found, but in fact it was fairly easy and exactly as described.

And indeed it was a top view. The sun was almost down, and the sea was glass calm with islands still showing hull-down out to sea, all in a golden light.

We took out the mechanical caterpiller and left a clay piggie.

Sorry for the delay in logging in. As Sc00t has said in her log for us we have just returned from a trip to the tip of Australia (Cape York), caching our way along. Found noon on a cool overcast day The view from up here would have been fantastic on a clear suuny day. Went one way to find it then went another way up a very steep hill, but it was worth it.
Thanks for the cache , as we would not have seen the view of Mackay, only just driven straight thru.
Took: Motor Cycle Keyring.
Left: Bear Magnet.
Took: Geocoin ZORK V New Zealand.

Amazing what you see when you veer slightly off the beaten track. I had passed this way many times but didn't realise the spot with its excellent views existed. Found the cache as the sun was setting and appreciated the extra clue. Just signed the log this time. Thanks agsmky.

24-Jun-06
Found on second attempt at 15:45 hrs. No people around so go for it. Wife was on lookout. Great spot. I use to live just down the hill. Good to come back. Took battery, left motorbike key ring. SL. TFTC

Our first find in Mackay, lived here for years before moving, so the area is familiar. Was overcast but beautiful and cool. Few muggles but none to worry us until time to replace the cache. Still trying to decide if it's harder to find them or replace them Wink

Took mother for her introduction into this wonderful world of cacheing.

Took Taz
Left boomerang.

My first Geocaching adventure was to assist dandent to locate this cache. After a 10 minute search of the surrounding thicket I found the cache. dandent signed the book. I have since officially joined the Geocaching Fraternity and will return to the site to record my visit in the log book. Cyclone Larry was looming off the Qld coast when we visited hence the view was not the typical scenic postcard blue but more a grey vista in blustery conditions but nonetheless still scenic.

Stopped in today to check on my cache. Cache is still there happily enjoying the views Big Grin.

Recent rains have seen the area growing rapidly which may make the find slightly harder, though on the other hand, it may help when searching.

Clues are always helpful if in trouble Razz

second attempt - a little bit earlier - grass freshly cut...good, gps still sending me to the same spot, triangulating in on it, got to be close now, hang on maybe its over there, coords going everywhere, back up top to get another fix, #$%@ what are the council doing back here...bugger - heading back south today - this one will have to wait till next time - off to the Botanic Gardens - see if I have more luck there.

16-Jan-06
9:30 am had a quick look - no joy! then the neighbourhood got really active - ergon clearing trees, and a nearby resident playing with his car - moved on as to not draw to much intrest...return soon!

15-Jan-06
Our GPS was having a few problems finding satelites and we were just about to give up again when we finally located the cache.

14-Jan-06
Nice easy one for me since I ground zero is very close to the now defunct you're despicable cache. Had a new cacher along with me in the form of the next door neighbor's 13 year old daughter "stretch". Took the travel bug Calendar Bear and left a snoopy scholar and taz devil. We been out that morning buying supplies to make a couple of caches so don't be suprised if theres ad bear in there... to quote Play School!

I thought this was a hidden place myself as I've up there a many a time. But over the weekend every tom, dick and harry was up there day and night. So I left it until Monday where I had the place to myself. I took nothing but TB and left nothing. Start of a good series agsmky. Just keep it going
