Well I'm going to archive this cache on Tuesday. I don't get to Mackay as often as I use to so it's getting hard for me to look after. It will open up 6 more places for 6 more caches.

It's been a while since this one was attmpted so I thought I would give it a go. Had some issues locating one of the plates - I suspect it's muggled. Will contact owner with details. TFTH

A new waypoint tag has been placed. Thanks to local cacher Puddler for doing that for me.

2nd last week before we are relocating down to Victoria, we really wanted to get this one as it has kept us thinking for 18 months or so.
Much easier this time with the new GPS in hand, hubby took off up into the bush while I sat in the car with bub.
I was expecting to sit here for a while, but, 10 minutes later he was back in the car.
TFTC it was a fantastic one to do.

Been informed by a local cacher that one the waypoint clues has gone missing. I'll get it replaced soon.

04-May-09
Finally cracked the code this morning after already suspecting this area, so with pack on back and junior under arm we ventured out to find this one. Junior lost interest rapidly and we didn't appreciate the mozzys and GPS giving hit and miss signals.

Will return again another day plastered in mozzy reppellent and bub with sitter.

Cheers

Went to WP1 with weroamin but could not locate any metal plate whilst the GPS jumped all over the place, think the weather was affecting the reception. We abandoned the search and went on to some other local caches. Loved the view though.

FINALLY! After a third visit we found the bugger! Excellent Cache and well worth the looking. Our GPS took us only to 15m of the cache (probably the tree cover?) and the huge number of possible hide locations meant the kids were over it and grumpy after a while, hence the multiple visits. We probably spent over and hour all up scratching around in the leaf litter looking for it in ever widening circles. The second visit I was determined to find it so went looking under the grass trees with abandon. Result: Very scratched and sore forearms.

If you approach GZ from the South, be sure to continue past and up to the lookout.

Oh and take Mozzie repellent. On the last visit I've never seen so many of the mongrels and spent so much time dancing to avoid being bitten we didn't get to enjoy looking at the swaps as much as we might have.

Took: Matchbox Car
Left: Thumb Deck (mini playing card deck in small metal carry case) & crock TB

TFTC!

Turned ground zero upside down for the second time but still no luck. Must be hidden well! Sad I can see the evidence of other searchers so I fear my hands have run over it and I didn't even know. Will go for a third look soon after I've grabbed a hint from Dooghan.

19-Jan-09
After spending 3 days in Mackay, today I collected the remaining clues, and didn't make any real effort to solve it until this evening.
I think I've cracked it, but won't have time to search before leaving for Nambour early in the morning, bummer.
Oh well I might be back in another couple of years.

PS On returning home to Victoria and re-reading the cache before logging, I discoverer there's a coordinate verification, and I have the correct co-ords.

23-Dec-08
In July we found four of the plates before running out of day light.
The other day we decided to finally try and get this cache off our "To do" list. I went out alone and found the last plate needed.
Then the whole family was employed to solve the riddle.
There was much scribbling of pens on paper and while I was trying to use Oziexplorer to come up with some miracle answer, my Mother in law took one quick look at the clues and solved it in a flash. Now I'm forever in her debt.[:(!]
Mrs whatsamap and I ventured out into the unknown and retrieved the cache after a short scratch around GZ.
On the way back to the car we found a lovely bench to sit and enjoy the view.
Loved the cache.
T. Cache Critters GC.
Kansas Sunshine GC that wasn't logged.

Went in search for all the clues to solve the mystery but was beaten by failing light. Found one of the clues by using the back light of the gps, but ran out of time to find the last clue.
Next time we're in Mackay it's on the list of things to do.
Had a great time finding the clues so far and look forward to solving the mystery.

23-May-08
No idea of final location. Tried a dozen algorithms to work out a final location but at the end just gave up. A checksum to identify if you've cracked the code successfully would be useful.

18-Feb-08
All waypoints still exist even though some had obviously got a little wet. This cache took us all over Mackay, well worth the effort especially to have a mad fox terrior walk us to GZ. TFTC.

18-Feb-08
Found in the company of WitchPig. We were in the area for another reason and took the opportunity to grab a couple of caches that were still in place after the flooding!! TFTC

The tour was well worth it, and we should do this when the rain is not so heavy!!

18-Feb-08
dropping off 2 geocoins after the floods.....cache was dry. mm and SES crew (witchpig and rastas000)

Beer. That is the answer to this one....get all the numbers in front of you, drink beer, get on a different subject, and drinl beer....the quiz will not leave your mind...have another beer, try to forget about it....suddenly, you may have a eureka moment. If like me, you can google earth it, and it looks like a likely spot, well its probly it! Beware of mossies! Took compass, left gloves, screwdriver set, lanyard with whistle. Thanks for the cache!!! And Gegg says the intro to Geocaching.

27-Jan-08
same as many others, found all the clues... and I have them in front of me...called the absent member/sleuth brains trust and fed them into her multi -faceted mind, and recieved a phone call back that , which seemed like a good lead....except I had no boat...damn So I shall work on them further, and wait for the 4am inspiration moment, and try when I have someting a bit more concrete...so went and bowled over seadog spa, which I had bin meaning to do for some time...Thanks (I think ) dooghans!

"KAREN YOU FOUND IT!" was the cry that went up after Karen had made the claim "there's something square under there." We were ready to walk away after after mozzies and reduced reception, due to cloudy weather, had us all irritated. Karen was stoked on finding this one - her first time to ID a cache before Mark. Finding the metal plates was easy and took us to places we, as locals, don't really go to. Working out the code was easy enough but finding was not. Left Matchbox car, took MAGlite globes and Michelin TB - will move him to a more frequented area. Signed log. And thankyou for the chase (cache).

Found at 9:40. Back for a second attempt on this one. Followed GPS, both of them, to GZ. Started a systematic search in a grid pattern. Hot and lots of cobwebbs.[xx(][xx(]. On my hands and knees and not missing one bush. Looking under every leaf. It has got to be here somewhere. SadSad.
What's this!!! [?]Surprisedfeels like metal!!! [?]Surprisedmay be it's it!!! [?]Surprisedhope so. Yes Big GrinYes Big Grinat long last. Big GrinBig GrinIt took about 45 minutes of searching but at long last I have it. Was it worth it?. You bet. After finding all the clues, solving the puzzle and second attempt at finding the cache at GZ, there is a sense of satisifaction.

Forgot to note the travel bug number before I dropped it off, so had to go back and take notes...

28-Oct-07
Now I've been there before, right? I knew exactly where it was, right! Wrong... I spent quite some time wiping spiderwebs out of my eyes before eventually finding the appropriate collection of saplings, spiders, ants and that funny bush stuff.

I took nothing, but left the Dutch Kiwi TB, which was the whole point of the exercise...

Found all the metal plates, got all the clues... hmmmm after several hours and 8 feral kids in tow I can't think anymore... My brain has melted away today. I have no idea what to do with any of these clues.. I have tried several tactics but can't seem to come up with a final cache location... HELP anyone?

Don't worry Nelliehope....it took me 1 year to finally work out the answer (non-continous searching obviously). Big Grin

Not sure if it is a DNF or I have the wrong spot. Back to Mackay for the weekend again and studied the five clues from previous. Finally I think I have cracked it.Big Grin. Add the numbers into GPS and off to GZ. I searched for two hours [:(!] on my hands and knees, [:(!] poking and prodding with a stick. It has got to be here somewhere. [:(!]. New GPS was all over the place. Back to the car and get my old trusty GPS. Two GPS's in hand and looking, looking, looking. Don't usually give up but this time I did. SadSadSad

I knew I shouldn't have started this cache. I will send Dooghan an e-mail to see if I am on the right track.

After finding "Splat Wall" I punched in the 5 co ordinates for this cacxhe, and headed off. First up, the plate at the cache co ordinates was easy to find, the second, on top of a headland wasnt. That one took about 30 minutes to find. The rest were easy. But then, over another few Bundys, the puzzle to solve. And at this point, it remains unsolved. Although, I do think I know where I went wrong, and will have to test this theory next time I am up that way.

Cheers

Have this one on our list to find while in Mackay over the June school holidays... Also determined to find the few out near Cape Hillsborough (we stay here twice a year for 2 weeks at a time over the holidays). Looking forward to it.

25-Mar-07
As always, you need the right clue to go forward. But I don't, so it was a scenic trip around the town & collectin clues. All that's left is to decode AND go back to Mackay.

We had to revisit this one to pick up a clue for another multi that is now in the area. The cache is certainly bulging at the seam with goodies just waiting to be found.

Found all the clues at the various points, and enjoyed the trip around visiting sites I have not been for some time, but have had no luck working out the final site. Will have to have another go when next I am in Mackay.

I found the five waypoints yesterday on my grand tour of Mackay Big Grin Had to take the info back to my accomodation to mull over the clues for a while though. First thing this morning though it was off to GZ to prove my thinking right. Oh no a needle in a haystack [:o]
Found the cache after about half an hours poking around with a stick till I heard the correct 'cache found' noise Smile
Thumbs up for this fun cache.

24-Jun-06
yep, i finally found it Big Grin Armed with a spare 30 minutes to waste in my hectic schedule (and a little help from Oziexplorer) i decided to see if i could get this one crossed off my list of nearby caches Twisted

After exploring numerous possibilities with some answers leading me to the outmost islands on the continental shelf (which i couldn't rule out with Dooghan's twisted logic), i decided to look back a bit closer to home. Applying some of Dooghan's Logic (we normally call that the "Chaos Theory") the answer flew off the paper and into reality. Actually i had thought it may be near here, however i couldn't come up with a way of getting to that for an answer Twisted.

A quick trip in the car, as i was doing maintenance of some other caches around Mackay as well, and i had the cache. A nice hide which contained a good load of rewards. Not to be outdone, i've left heaps of freebies (see photo/s) for the next couple of finders Razz The TB wasn't to be found, however i know where it is and will get in touch with them.....

Enjoyed the find in the end, even though i normally don't do these types of caches, however after 6+ months of the clues sitting in my database and with little interest in trying again, i was glad i did. Wink Was even better that i didn't need a hand to find it (thanks to those cachers that wanted to mis/lead me to the location. Twisted)

Thanks Dooghan and Family for your cache.

Finally found it after some time hunting for the clues. Quite a neat idea we may steal!

Took flashy fish & band, left green monster and teddy bear.

Took Spike with intention of taking him north. May take another weekend to see him placed as we are headed to Rockhampton this next weekend rather than northwards.

Dad, Jonno & Cec.

My tb, Spike, has been in this cache a really long time. Could somebody help him out? He is in a contest.

07-Jun-06
I am off to Sydney on Saturday afternoon... Spike can hitch a ride!

If only i knew where the cache was, i could help you Razz

Dropped of TB 'Spike' as well - just that little bit closer to his goal...

After driving all over Mackay looking at some wonderful location we ended up with all our clues yesterday but hmm nutting out the clues didn't seem logical at first. We thought on various possibilities but none of them seemed right and we had all but given up on the idea of finding this one. But in a brainwave moment which come at about 4 in the morning we had it worked out or so we hoped.
So off we headed to see if our theory was right and [:o] we were right. Oh what a feeling!!!! And as an added bonus this is our first FTF. Big Grin
This find certainly made up for the two misses we had yesterday. Wink
Thanks Dooghan's this was a great challenge.

20-Oct-05
Found clues ok......and noted their significance in the big scheme of things, though from here i have no solid leads.

Tried several tactics and was found standing in an open grassy area, or wanting to go for a swim to sea Twisted. One tactic even showed great promise (and was great fun in the 4wd), though again it turned up empty (even though it seems like a logical area).

Unless i am missing a clue or two here, i may have to give up shortly, as there seems to be a huge logic jump somewhere here Razz

Thanks for the challenge Dooghan, though i must admit, i don't understand your thinking TwistedBig Grin Have you been taking your medication lately [B)]
