This morning after scuba diving Little Blue Lake, I decided to look for this final container at GZ, despite it being archived after my detailed searches at the posted coordinates (and obviously failing since the container had always been there at Waypoint 1, with Bucketeer removing it recently).

I had searched much closer to the sinkhole around the place with no container had arisen, so with some information from a previous finder, I headed towards that area. Sure enough, the container was quickly found. The container was full of water, and logbook was damp, so it was hard to make a mark, but some impact from weather was probably expected since it had been 3.5 years since its last find on 31/05/2016. Shame to have seen this old 2005 cache archived, but the container is still here to be found. Thanks scojohara for the creative geocache.

02-Jun-19
I removed the first waypoint container while trying to find the newly published cache in the area.
In a cruel twist of fate it was easily visible from GZ of the new cache.

24-Nov-18
Final weekend down at Mount Gambier training for our cave course in a fortnight’s time. Today, it was another day diving at Gouldens, and following the dive, I tried looking extensively in the cliff ledges trying to find a container. We found lots of really old glass bottles and beer cans, but still no cache. There were a few obvious locations that I would have hid a cache, but none turned up the container today.

I’ve had three attempts now at really trying to do a detailed search of this one without any luck, and coupled that with all DNFs since the cache was replaced, either the container has been taken, or better hints/guidance may be required to help Geocachers locate this one? I liaised with the CO a month ago when I offered to check on the container, but I was assured that he would visit a few days later. I have messaged but since had no reply. Suggest a visit may be in order.

24-Nov-18
No finds of the first waypoint container since it was replaced in August 2015 (a string of DNFs) and three detailed searches from myself without any luck suggests a CO visit may be needed, and/or better guidance to help find this one.

24-Nov-18
The first point of this cache has obviously gone missing again and I have not had the opportunity to get down there to check. Thank you to Davidwazza for his communication, sorry I was not able to get down there in time for you. I will get down there when I can.
Scojohara.

02-Nov-18
After some scuba diving in a local Mount Gambier Sinkhole today, I had a bit of time grabbing some geocachers and hiking around the rim.

We dived Goulden's Sinkhole today, and during our preparation, we searched underneath the platform without any luck. Afterwards, a couple of us then searched the rock wall next to the platform in the ledges, but still no container at Waypoint 1. I'll have another look closer to the water edge in a couple of days time when we dive there again. However it does seem like we have had a string of DNFs at this initial waypoint, so either a better hint / coordinates is needed, or it may indeed be missing. Perhaps a CO check may be needed since it's been a few years?

02-Jun-17
Had a good look around at waypoint 1, had no luck. Beautiful place though!!!

31-May-16
Didn't look for stage one due to the uncertainty about it, I decided I had enough information from previous finders logs to have a shot at the final. Started at the wrong end of the area but eventually I covered enough of the location to have success. Found a nice dry unmarked logbook and signed it. TFTC

18-Feb-16
Didn't find it. Noticed what looked like a round sistema floating in the water out if reach.
Interesting spot.

30-Aug-15
I have placed a new first leg container as the old one was under water. See description and hint changes if you have looked before. A new Log was placed in the second leg.

We had been to this one before with no luck so while out this way for another not too far we decided to give it another go. So got as close to GZ as possible, reading hint & getting as low as I could even poked my eye with a stick, eye stung for quite awhile I was starting to think it was not here anymore. Consulted with a Geofriend who had been here before. Its not here. I knew where the final stage was as I had tried placing a cache there awhile back but was knocked back being to close. So with a hint we were on our way again. Pulled up, had a look & found. Will contact owner because stage 1 needs replacing & stage 2 needs some maintenance. Log is wet & mouldy. TFTC Smile

23-Apr-15
After a fruitless search for the first waypoint I consulted with the owner who kind of remembered where he out the final. After looking in every other spot I found it. Thanks guys Smile

31-Mar-14
Found at 4:10PM on the 31st of March by Ray and Maya under the careful scrutiny of lots of moogles. The cache, including the log in a plastic bag are saturated so writing in the log was not an option. We left several sheets of note paper in another ziplock bag with our report on it. The cache needs maintenance ASAP. TNLNSL. TFTC. The Nomads.

Found on day 3 of our Mt Gambier trip. A very pleasant day caching with mogni.

Can't believe we missed this one yesterday. mogni gave us a small hint and we were soon on our way to the final. TFTC scojohara.

On my home from The Big Little Event in Nelson.... A caching I shall go....

A DNF on the first waypoint. Had a little hunt around in obvious spots for the cache, but to no avail.

Whoo Hoo!!!! Finally I get to cross this one off the list.
I've had numerous attempts over a few years at least 3 of them aborted by the presence of divers in or near the water hole (maybe they were looking for the cache too judging by my indicated GZ?), but today without another sole in sight and bit of time up my sleeve, I restricted my search to the area I thought most probable and eventually just as I was about to give up..... there it was, the elusive first waypoint was sighted and an easy final followed with signing the logbook.

Smile I remember trying to fly near GZ, as a young'un
and yep, got wet. Had a little help to find this one, but
only due to descending darkness. Plus I was determined to
log this as no. 160. Tftcsl, tnln. Saw a dead snake and nomads,
looking for a place to camp. I might have looked scarey emerging
from GZ, in an excited state, as the nomads did an about turn, out of there.

TFTC We have Done your Maintenance for You as the container was half full with water Cleaned container out and dried it all had to throw log book and contents away all wet, moldy and smelly Put New log book ,pencil and Toys in and put cache back in its spot would suggest owner change container as I think the lid maybe the problem as it dosen't seem to fit tight sorry we could not change container as we didn't have one with us.

we looked and saw nothing

Full of water again found with whitey84 and Bradley&rebekah

02-Nov-10
My first of 3 DNFs today.
I looked high and low and lower, but I couldn't the first cache. The tide seems to be so that may be the cause. Yeah I'll blame it on the high water level!

28-Jul-10
Cache is wet and yucky needs urgent repair.

23-Jul-10
Found the first one which was a lovely unknown area to us. Had to be careful as there was a diver training happening but patience got us there. Wish we could say the same for the second location. The GPS took us the long way into the cache and it wasn't long before we realised we were in a regular toilet spot. Gross to say the least and the smell was terrible. We pushed on in search of the cache to find another surprise right next to it >:( opened the cache to find it full of water. Tipped out the water and the smell over come us so we just screwed back on the lid and left.

For anyone doing this cache just becareful for kids as I am sure you will do as we did and parked across the road where the attraction is and then had to cross the road. Wouldn't say it is a busy road but the cars that did go past were travelling at a hefty speed.

Nice day for a drive and the geofamily really enjoyed this cache.
Geokids were distracted at the first stop by a turtle, so I had to hunt alone.
Found quickly and was soon off to the final destination.
Found cache quickly. TFTC.

We all truly enjoyed this multi-cache and the two areas were really interesting to look at. The boys were keen and Master R claimed a sheep and left behind a highlighter pen. Thanks for a fun adventure.

19-Jul-09
Found with Yellatori. This was a great beer cache. Got first up. Nice hide look forward coming back in the summer weather. This was my third multi. Thanks.

28-Dec-08
Thank you for a very intersting and different caching experience!! I am fascinated by all the lakes, sinkholes and caves in the area, having not been in the area since I was a child. These 2 places I would have never found without caching.
At the first location I spent a good 15 minutes searching as I was determined not to walk away empty handed. Was a bit scary as I was alone, down in a hole with the wind whistling around the cliffs.
After wobbling around on the deck, worrying what would happen if my keys fell out of my pocket, I put all valuables up on deck and had another look. YAY!! I spotted it.
At the second location some people were swimming but they didnt notice me as I found the cache and logged a very prized find.
Thanks!!
On of the best caches I have done in ages.

The number of cave diving venues down here amazes me. Rob was able to explain them all to me as he had dived down here before so this added to the experience. We saw divers from Tasmania at the final site preparing to descend. An enjoyable tour scojohara.

21-Dec-07
Had a little trouble with waypoint one here but after a bit of time Robmc located the elusive thingy. The next bit was easy. Two very interesting locations. I'm sure Robmc will say more being a diver who has dived many of these holes.
Thanks again.

21-Dec-07
The first location I have got wet at several times. It is good to see that there is now is easy access. It used to get very dirty. Chewin' had a bit of a problem with the GPS due to the location, but it wasn't a hard find.
The second location has also changed a bit. Where the cache was used to be the carpark, but that has now swapped sides. I also see that you're not allowed to dive or jump here anymore - that was one of the fun things!
The other thing here is a car at 30 meters. It was a concentration job for studant divers to try and remember the speedo reading, not an easy task.
Thanks for bringing me back here, Robmc.

Found by Mary & David at 1415. Our second attempt at WP1, but, even with a hintette gained during CCC, it still took us a while. David almost got his hair wet while Mary stood above holding all his worldly possessions in safekeeping. At last we had the magic numbers. Off to GZ, where we had an unexpectedly easy find, and not where we thought it would be. Marvellous locations and great fun. TNLN. Some water in the container, which we emptied, and the log book is damp. Our thanks again to scojohara.

Second try for this one as i was out this way for a look see.
New about the water hole 4 years.
There is a huge bee hive near the shed at the 1st stage, but they were user friendly today as the weather was cold.

Memories... I'm sure I have been here before. Cache is a little wet at the moment, but I was still able to write in book. I hid it a bit better, it was on show when I found it.

The etrex was having a blond day it wanted us in the water, need to contact owner, soon had us in the right direction,GPS had us some 23 meters of course.
Great hide and lots of fun doing both stages.(from Geokid)Cool[^]

This was the first of 16 finds for the day for Team Biggo, who was tagging along with Rizzo while sussing out some cache hides.
Nice quick find at the end of it at a place I have been many times before on those few hot days in the Mount!
Cheers, Biggo

23-Jun-07
The first waypoint was exactly where it should have been Smile
Both locations were very interesting. Dunno what fish live in there, but a fisherman was present at one of the holes [:o]

10-Jun-07
No luck for us on WP1 either, despite a thorough search and reading previous logs.
Unfortunately, unlike Zytheran we had no idea where the final location was.

10-Jun-07
South for the winter.

09-Jun-07
The final loc was a nice surprise. I imagine it would be a favourite spot at the right time of year. Caught up with Alex & Jock as they were leaving the cache. TNLN. Thanks for showing us this great feature Scojohara.

09-Jun-07
When we got to point one the divers were in full training mode. So, as we couldn't move them, we told them what we were up to and they were quite impressed. That still didn't help the search though so I used my phone a friend option. After that the rest was easy.
The cache was a bit wet inside so we dried it as best we could and quickly rehid it before Nibs trod on it. Cheers

09-Jun-07
No luck at WP1 for us today. There were several divers standing around the top of the path preparing to depart when we arrived, and picked us as geocachers. They were aware of the container and even offered a hint if we had trouble. Our GPSr led us to a spot that seemed to fit the bill, but we couldn't find it. By the time we got back up to the road, though, the divers had left. We did glean a hint later on at the CCC Event, and it revealed that we had been well off track with our search area. On our list for a future visit.

09-Jun-07
Did this the hard way. Had a look during the day but the divers were there. Went back later but could not find WP1.
So did it the hard way. Based on what heard where the final might be we went there without a GPSr , coordinates nor even road map. It was pitch black but as I only had one hectare (!) to search even surprised myself by finding it. Left pretty quick with the dodgy locals in the car park probably wondering what we were doing wandering off and coming back again..
And surprisingly we were nearby again the following day for the event competition!

09-Jun-07
Even with the hints given in previous logs, we had no success in finding WP1. Should have asked the divers to show us where it was! Very worried about a group of cows that had broken through their nearby fence and were happily munching away on grass at the top of the sinkhole. Can cows fly?

08-Jun-07
This one caused me a lot of grief.
I searched and searched. With my feet nearly in the water I couldnt get further down without swimming.
Found a container but when I pulled it out it was a broken bottle.
Tore my tshirt on the barbed wire which really annoyed me so I gave up searching for the waypoint and went and found the cache instead.

Goulden’s Sinkhole is universally despised by cave divers because it is where we have to do most of our training dives for our cave diving courses. It is murky, muddy and full of yabbies that delight in biting your fingers when you’re feeling around in the mud for things you can’t see because you have a blindfold over your mask.

There have been a number of DNFs for the first micro cache. The initial coordinates led me to a small wire-covered hole in the rock wall on the rim of the sinkhole on the opposite side of the hole to the road. Needless to say the cache isn’t there although there’s evidence that people have looked there. I would avoid going there as a fall into the shallow water below might well be fatal.

Forget about your GPS and heed the clue’s advice. If your feet are close to getting wet you're stepping in the right direction. Perhaps the container is interfering with your compass ? I wouldn’t hve found it without a call to the helpline.

The final cache was an easy find although was a bit wet. I dried it as best I could. TNLNSL

08-Jan-07
There were no divers here this morning, so I was able to search without being disturbed. I couldn't find anything at WP1. I decrypted the hint, and searched thoroughly at the place I thought it indicated, but came up dry. I had neither local knowledge, nor four-fun's insight, so I couldn't imagine where GZ was. I gave it away at 1135 after a 30-minute search.

28-Dec-06
No divers on the day we visited, we were the only ones there. Couldn't find anything despite a concerted effort.

17-Dec-06
found by B*DS nice spot watched some people diving looks pretty deep TFTC Smile

09-Jul-06
First find for the day and luck was definately with me today.
Couldn't locate container at location 1 despite a pretty thorough search near where GPS was pointing, so went for a look where I thought location 2 would be.
Upon arrival and a quick walk around I thought 'where would I put it?' Wandered, looked & hey presto a cache!!Big Grin
Contents were very mouldy as noted previously, due to a crack in container lid so took out all the soggy paper and mouldy stuff. Replaced container with a spare I had with me and restocked it with clean stuff and a new stashnote.
Cheers, I had lots of fun looking around both sites.
Container is now blue with a black lid.

09-Jul-06
Thank you very much four fun for the maintainence you have have done.

03-Jul-06
I have been wanting to do this one for a while but have always run into Divers and others when getting here..Very Quiet today so I was able to swoop down and have a search..and search and search and then received a bit of info from an unnamed source so I changed tack and recovered the first part...it led me to an easier second part of the cache and find..

Thanks Scojohara for another good cache

TNLNSL

PS all the swaps in the container are getting damp , may have to look at a more secure container!!

The Rizzos

Sorry to say we had the same result as tiges first visit on this one. At GZ it seemed our trusty GPSr was telling us the cache was other side of hole in water or on edge up top. Checked the latter. But pretty sure we were wrong locale this spot and in water seemed silly.

Our first find for the day. Got to the first location of this cache and had diver muggles doing some trainning thought this is going to be interesting.
An enjoyable hunt and Geokid was especially happy as he swapped a yellow dinasour for a red car.
Thanks scojohara

19-Feb-06
We had a very good look at first leg - but could not fathom where this was hidden. It could be one of those that require a team effort (with player 1) but my small request is for the same clue that A&L received on the Scojohara helpline. We can guess where the 2nd leg is, but aint much use without the co-ords!!

26-Dec-05
Found at 11.25am.
A place I have tried to fly many times in the past.
Can attest to the wet landing.
A sign of the times -"No jumping or diving"
I prefer the sign on the concrete "backflips welcome"
TNLN
Thanks

WP1 had us searching around for a few mins, before we made the discovery. the area could do with a bit of TLC, as its looking a little shabby here at the moment.

WP2 was found without any hassles. The concrete opposite the cache site gave me a chuckle. it states backflips welcome.

Uncle posspet grabbed the TB from here.

How deep does this go? I went down just as far as i nneded to go. WP1 was isolated and GZ not much more on this midweek visit. Found the final location easily and we took the TB. Thanks scojohara for the drive and one day I will figure out the name.

21-Nov-05

Beaker did some low level flying on the way to this one. One thing for sure, Astro would no way learn to fly here. It was dark so TNLN. Funny thing, this was the second stock route for Astro this year Big Grin.
Thanx scojohara – clear skies, Astro.

30-Oct-05
This one took us a while.

Never been to spot #1 before, didnt know it existed
Was a little concerned when the GPS insisted the cache was 25m past the point of no return as i forgot my inflatable pink pool toy. Had a heap of trouble with this part.

Even went about 2m into a cave much to camden's delight but was getting a bit dark to continue. Eventually gave up and rang scott. got a clue which helped big time, had the next coords in hand in no time after that

Stage #2 spent many a time here when i was younger trying to kill myself leaping from the cliffs. Its a shame the algae is there now. used to be great fun (and sometimes a bit of pain too)

found final cache with no issues. Took glitter body paint Smile and pen, left some stuff which i cant recall right now.

Thanks A&L

Yes... I have tried flying here many times myself. Flapped the arms like crazy and kicked the legs but all to no avail. Have been to both locations many times before and had planned to plant some caches here myself.

Took small McCrappy Neopet, left equally McCrappy Basketball and TB.

Thanks
