Headed out for a few hours of caching today & as we were on Mundaring Weir Rd, we decided that the caches around Hewitt's Hill looked like a great walk... After finding the first cache we set our sights on this one! Unfortunately we were unable to locate this one after a very lengthy search... Even R0gues log which had helped others previously did not shed any light on this one after searching around her spoiler photo palm Sad

TFTH Team Gunn Parker Smile We would think this one needs checking & hope that either the CO or a previous finder can check it out for us.

Stooged over here while kids were playing around the hut. We were on a trip with the Family Bushwalking Club on our first double hutter trip. My tent leaked overnight and I ended up with a wet sleeping bag unfortunately. Cache in good order but took a wee while to find. TFTC Team Gunn Parker

Still in the hills today enjoying some time in the magnificent bush. The GPSr had us in circles for a couple of minutes but we had an easy find after it settled. Signed the log but the two TB's were missing.
Just as we were leaving JacobsCrew arrived and we headed to a nearby cache together.
Thanks for resurrecting this cache BelKen.

I was on a walk from South Ledge through to Kalamunda so I dropped in on the cache. I had a small ammo can in the pack which I have left with a new logbook. I also dropped in a BelKen coin as swag.

I packed out the old cache and binned it.

Thanks for the cache

(chwiliwr team catch up log)

We walked in along the track from the nearest access point and made a quick find but unfortunately the cache container was full of water as the lid is now cracked. All the contents were saturated and Chwiliwr did the best he could but was not carrying anything to maintain the cache so will have to be visited by CO.

Thanks Team Gunn Parker for the cache.

This is my third time to this geocache because the place is so gorgeous for a picnic. I was introducing some friends to geocachig for the first time and had to drop of a geocoin so figured this was a lovely place for them to start. I stayed at the camp while they went off to hunt and gave one the geocoin to place. I forgot to tell her the rules that you dont take something when you place a geocoin...but she took a lava lamp keyring as a "swap". Sorry about that! Will place it in the next geocache I find as a "freebie". Weather was fabulous today and ran into 16 people at the camp! Who'd think somewhere so relatively remote would have crowds???. Anyway when the majority left we introduced ourselves to the lone lady who got very excited about geocaching and is off to register membership! Welcome NoleyB.

Nice day for a walk on the Bibbulman. Cool, cloudy and not many people about even for a Sunday. Had lunch at the campsite (had the place all to ourselves - no muggles about) and have been meaning to get this one for a while now, so went looking for the cache. A fairly easy find, though the tree cover throws out the GPS a bit. Spotted the blue lid once I got close. Left the magic flashlight, TN. Thanks.

A beautiful morning had me setting off on the Kalamunda to Mundaring Weir (Hotel) trek- something I have wanted to do for awhile but never seemed to get around to!

Luckily I read the previous logs and with the hints given in them was able to walk directly to the cache (thank goodness for the floral hint though!).

Shortly there after was on my way again and looking forward to a cold cider at the pub at the end of my walk- and a ride home from Pa Stroopid. Took me just over 4 hours (including cache time) and was happy to have a cache almost exactly half way.

Took TB and geocoin
Left $1 coin

Thanks,

We went on a lovely picnic to Hewitts Hill camp on Good Friday with the intention of finding this cache and placing our travel bug (Travel Boomerang) in it. We have been to Australia several times in the past to visit family living in this area and even lived here ourselves for a couple of years before our team expanded from two to four members. We want this travel bug to make it's way to us in Swords, Ireland, whereupon we will set it on it's journey back to Perth, Australia. We would love it to visit as many places as possible on the way so please feel free to take it wherever you are going. All we ask is that you log it's progress with a few words on your experience that day.

Today was glorious sunshine and we parked at Asher road and hiked the short 700 meters to the camp. We set up our picnic and were joined by two hikers. Later many more hikers appeared at the camp and on the track to it. The setting is ideal for a family day out, or overnight for the adventurous parents of 6-12 yearold kids. There was water in the tank but as is always the case in the bush, it needs to be boiled before drinking so bring plenty of drinking water.

Found the cache after reading the clue about the "small palm tree". Took an Adelaide F1 keyring and left a necklace. Thanks for placing this cache in a gorgeous place for a nice family day out.

20-Feb-10
Found it finally on second visit. Went for a picnic with Sunshine Team who found it immediately after I pointed out the plant Wink. Met a great man at the camp who was on his return trip of the Bibulmun track. Kalamunda - Albany - Kalamunda! What a hero. He was a Scottish tourist who flew over just to walk the track...at 64 years of age, alone! Brilliant. Love Hewett's camp for a picnic- nice little trek into the bush and away from it all. Thanks for the cache. Sunshine Team exchanged items..TeamGibney took nothing and left nothing.

Searched and searched, no luck. Had only read the first 5 logs and was cocky Smile. Came home and read Rogue's log and am going to go back and have a look. Have been to the campsite before (live in the area) and it's a lovely peaceful place to have a picnic. Parked off Asher Road - turned right at the first dirt track (I think it has 619 or something on a post beside it) and drove for 1km before walking along the bibbulmun track to the campsite. Gorgeous day...overcast and about 25C so perfect for walking. Had a gourmet picnic at the camp and read the log book - cried at the sentimental story on the first page in the red book. Lovely day out...thanks for the incentive...and the extra incentive to go back again!! will keep you posted on my luck. By the way, that palm is a macrozamia.

Tracked across from Munda Biddi cache. Probably not the best way to go. Found the cache after a long search. TNLN. Thanks Team Gunn Parker

We had decided to tackle a few in the area while I was enjoying some well deserved holidays, after hunting around for about 40 minutes we took a rest in the hut for a drink and read of the last few logs...

Hmmm well there is a first time for everything so we bit the bullet and called a friend to jump online and read back further than the last 5 logs we had on the GPS.
Now with the new cords plugged in thanks to Rogues log we are bound to succeed right! Wrong Razz
We looked for about another 15 minutes, in the end we put the gps down ignored the longlat part and followed the flora hint, at last Mrs Joker found it.
Strange but once we found it I rechecked the cache listing only to discover it was only 3 meters out, of course this was not the area it had us hunting in to start with, nor the extra info from Rogue, the trees must be made of iron. Big Grin

TFTC it was great to see one of the shelters on the track having walked over bits n pieces many times but never come across a camp site before.

Yay! Another nemesis cache found!
This is the second go by both Bears and the third by PBL.
This time we had R0gue's coords and clue to help us, and it was a pretty quick find (the lower numbers were closest)

An overcast day, which made for a cool and pleasant walk along the Bibbulman, surrounded by greenery and interesting branchiform fungi.

MBL took a Shannon's cap and we left an exclusive Bear_Left utility card (the ultra-exclusive stealth kind (i.e. forgot to add a sticker to it...))

Found this one by driving to within 500mts through back way, got to camp site and a couple of hikers. Said quick hello and then dissapeared into bush again while raining. Found site then walked back through bush to track so as not to give away our whereabouts.
Took key finder and Marmots GC (slovak)

Phew!! I trecked in via the Bib track and realised when at GZ that I had left my PDA with all info back in the car. So spent ages searching under every skirt within cooee, and finally had to cede defeat.
Arrived back at the car and collapsed to read the notes and saw lovely hints by ROgue! Big Grin This gave me renewed enthusiasm, so with just enough daylight left to make a return journey, back I went to a quick find. Took TBs, left marmot's GC and $2 note.
Thanks for some excellent exercise, Team Gunn Parker.

Found on a beautiful sunny day after doing a guided walk for bib-track society with a group of 'youngsters' from Craigie Leisure centre. When looking for this cache be sure to take along a trusty stick to avoid walking into all the spider webs!!! I hate spiders! We left 3BlindEyes Positive Caching coin. TNSL T4TC. Paul and Marnie

[I FOUND IT!!!!!!!! YAAAAAYYYYYY Big GrinBig Grin So happy! This one was about a 4* difficulty level for me.

I have been here before unsuccessfully, and came back determined to find it, as I had a TB to drop off specifically for this cache.

Well, it started like the last time, fruitlessly looking under one grass tree after another, never finding that one elusive one. Finally - I had it in my hands - I almost couldn't believe it!

I took 2 coord readings while I was sitting down with the cache, and the results were S .539 / E .712 and S .538 / E .716. So maybe this will help anyone who has been unsuccessful so far.

If you are having trouble finding it here is a hint:] there is a small palm tree right near the cache. Check the photo.[

I really enjoyed the walk in on the Bibbulmun Track today, and saw quite a few other hikers.

Left TB Bibra-ulmun Track. Thanks for the cache!]

Ooops, after all that I forgot to 'drop off' the TB. Here it is.

I was taking a walk along the Bibbulmum track from Mundaring Weir to Kalamunda and thought this would be an easy find.

The GPS got me to ground zero and I tried the usual suspects (grass trees, fallen logs) but I just couldn't find the cache. Bummer. [:(!]

16-Jul-07
First one we have tried in ages and we couldn't find it.Sad

Looked under all the grass trees in a decent radius around GZ. Nice walk in though.Smile

12-Jun-07
We were heading out on the Bibbulmun track so we thought we'd have a quick look around. We hadn't prepared properly but thought something might jump out at us. We'll try again next time. We did do our good deed though, by saving the ranger a treck back to return the hut's log book pencil which he'd borrowed. We asked him if he had a pencil sharpener as the pencil was almost blunt. He pulled out a foot long knife to do the job, a la Crocodile Dundee - now that's a pencil sharpener!!

Found my second cache for the day, and second in total. Big Grin

Great day for it, little wet on the drive up there but all good.

Parked at the Camel Farm and walked to Hewetts Hill camp site, then went off to find cache.

Team Gunn Parker, origional cache owner, was with me for the day on my maiden voyage.

Excellent fun

12-May-07
Thwarted by another TGP cache, my third one in the last few months... I think I need my eyes checked. I'm sure I looked under every grass tree within a 15m radius of GZ, but found nothing.

In any case, it was a very nice walk in. I came in from The Dell carpark and the Munda Biddi cache. Might try a different way next time, and actually follow the Bibbulmun Track...

06-May-07
Nice day for a long walk. Did the Bibbulman from Kalamunda to Mundaring Weir and stopped off at Hewitt's Hill Campsite for lunch. UNBELIEVABLE - there were at least 10 muggles there also eating lunch, so I had to sneak off to try and find it.
This one was not too hard but trying to walk through the scrub with very sore legs (not from the walking - too much gym) didn't help Sad
Took the juggling balls and left a Shannons cap (brand new Wink
Taking Geocoin to another cache.

This one took me a while as the tree cover had the GPSr playing up even from 10m out. I found it at my second GZ after a second look there. I missed it the first time as I didn't look under that bush. I was able to follow a road to within 500m of the camp site and noticed on the way out it is a bridle trail as well. Swapped trackables.

t4th

Just adding cache is in good condition.

02-Apr-06
Was a little worried when we saw the previous DNF entries and half expected a long walk with little result. But I happy to report all is well with the cache and it was quite an easy find, whilst Therese stamped around in the bush to scare off the snake we'd just seen on the way in. I uncovered the goal under the second target I hit. Easy find 30 seconds! Wink
With all the targets out here luck was really on our side today. The only assistance I can offer is that nearby is a tree we found that someone has put a blaze mark on it (see photo). This tree is about three meters from the cache, so if you find the tree your quarry is close by.
Logging this as part of Coin Quest II - The Hermit's Quest For Gold.
Thanx for the hunt TGP!

24-Dec-05
A pleasant walk on the day before Christmas; what a good idea!
We drove a little closer this time, just to see where the track went, really. We arrived at GZ and we started looking under all the grasstrees (_again_ in PBL's case) and had the same luck as last time. Papa Bear called NobodyZ for advice, but there's not much to say, really. It's a plastic box under a grass tree...
So, after awhile, we went home.

There, Mama Bear discovered that she had several ticks sucking out her blood, as did Papa Bear. (You might like to replace the 'no snowmobiles' with 'there are ticks!' in the Attributes, TGP!)

Side story: MBL mentioned this to her park ranger brother-in-law on Christmas Day and he said that it's usually OK in the bush "as long as you stay on the paths and don't go messing about in the bushes." And I thought he understood Geocaching...

We'll try this one again in six months, when it's not tick breeding season!

06-Dec-05
A pleasant walk along the Track on a cool and windy day. If only I'd noticed those fateful words "It should not be too hard to find" Words like that are almost a guarantee that MBL and I will have to search extra hard, and she wasn't here with her usual persistence.
I looked under everything that I could find in the vicinity, but even this large easy-to-find container eluded me.
So, I had a pleasant walk _back_ along the Track!

17:00 I'd already blown my plans for the afternoon so I decided to go for a drive in the hills and do a power walk down the Bib' track to this cache. No signal drop out as experienced last night. Interesting location, when I arrived at GZ I actually wondered if I'd entered the coords wrong but GPSr took me to within 2m of where I found the cache.
