Cache camo found today but no cache container in sight. Needs attention. CO e-mailed.
Back today for another look with Motndarg and Tomstache, we found the camo of the cache but no cache container. We have e-mailed the CO. We took a photo. Hopefully it will be replaced.
Back again today with McLookers and Motndarg, we actually found the camo but there was no cache container.
Out today with McLookers and Tomstache. After searching for sometime we found the cache camo, but that was all that was there. - no cache with it. We think maybe some 4WDers may have disturbed it somewhat. We enjoyed the walk in, the bush was fresh after the rain and lots of wild flowers about. My thanks to 2Dudez for allowing us to log this cache.
Very grateful thanks to the CO for allowing us to log this find. This was our second trip to this cache. On both occasions we parked 600m away on the eastern side and walked in. We are not brave 4WDers! Today, we managed to find the cache camo with no cache attached. Hopefully the CO will get this cache up and running again as it is not far from another cache and well worth the walk or drive in. Today, we saw lots of wildflowers and a few kookaburras. Thanks so much 2Dudez.
Thanks for letting us log this one 2Dudez. It was my second visit, this time with Motndarg and McLookers. Today was a bit cooler than our last visit. A spot for very serious 4WD but we walked.

Caching today with Rehfisch Clan, Tomstache, ThePacman and 6Hinemoa2, we were unable to find this cache. A call to a previous finder had us thinking that the cache may no longer be in place. Is it possible to confirm this?
We parked our cars and walked in to find this one. No way would I drive here.
With the eyes of McLookers, Tomstache, The Pacman and Rehfisch Clan we thought we would be on a winner.
No luck here at all. We walked on to the next cache and tried again on the way back. Still no joy here despite widening our search.
It will have to wait for another time.
THanks for the hunt 2Dudez

Headed out this morning for a spot of adventuring with sulkybear and our geokids (ages 5 & 3). Decided to do a few in the Creswick bush just near our home with the 4 x 4 ute. Dogs also came along for the ride. Very cool road in but we explored for about 30mins and had no luck whatsoever. Need to talk to someone who has found it for hell. We searched everywhere! GPS was all over the place (iPhones) but even with that in mind we searched very wide. Alas no smilie for us. But it does mean we need to return for some more 4 x 4 fun
Found on the 23/2/14 with Wozzle68

Got the three caches here in this close proximity without any mishaps in our 4x4.

From cache to cache another 400m on foot. Did not expect the hill to rise and fall so much. I wonder if it is any easier coming in from the east. Nicely crafted hide, like your work 2dudez. Took obsidian left 888 chain. TFTC.
I was lucky enough to be able to get a ride to this cache with my geograndparents (aka Beckster 22) in their 4WD. We had so much fun bouncing over the hills on the drive in to the cache. I signed the log and replaced. Thanks for the hide.
We continued on from the previous cache with the Glanville Girls and we thought that was pretty rugged. Oh no it was tame compared to what loomed ahead, but our small geo 4WD didn't let us down and we made it to the cache, the track was fairly dry just a couple of muddy bits. The log is full but managed a space to sign it is also a bit damp. This would have to be a favourite as I enjoyed the ride.

While throngs of people were bustling around crowded shopping centres, struggling with food laden trolleys or searching for the ideal gift; we enjoyed a Cachemas spree around Ballarat with Ian & Penny.
Caching takes us to places we would never have otherwise gone and this one was a location we probably would not have ventured without being accompanied. No walking for us today, we drove in!
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt 2Dudez.

Hillside HOrrors! Your not kidding! Boys made me walk up the hill!! Great cache spot! TFTC
Nice fun little drive from the last cache in a 2wd. Would be a lot harder in the wet. TFTC
After a nice drive through the forest ST37E and I walked to this one, a nice quick find when we got there.
Looking at the track makes me want to invest in a 4WD so badly!!!

Great cache! I am a bit of a masochist and took my 2WD at night, then walked the last 350m or so.
Love the effort that went into the cache. Signed log, added some goodies.
The area is popular with trail bikers. A note - Google Maps is incorrect, you cannot approach Melaleuca Road by going eastwards down Frasers Road. Frasers Road ends in a small roundabout.

Did some 4x4 to get to this one but still put in about 160m of walking glad I did seen some Roos on the way and the Views were great too thanks for bringing me there TFTC
This was one of the early caches we did on our 4x4 trip. Everyone has having more fun stnading around and having a chat than looking for the cache. Gordo also had a good time taking the harder track. TFTC
Hey, look, we just found your cache.

We found it on a 4WD adventure through Creswick Park. Some pretty interesting driving was required here and well done to all the drivers who took on the challenge. Can't wait to the next adventure. TFTC.
Found it today as part of the 4wding tour of Creswick Park with the Central Victorian Geocaching folks.
Lots of real 4wding on the way to this. TFTC

Now the 4wd driving really starts!!! With the group having a fun caching day in the area. Nice hide for this one!! Now to get down - left or right road - a couple of brave souls took the road to the right!! Well done!!!
Today I let my little 4x4gemoblie loose in the forest. This was our first cache and what a fantastic track! Thanks for the adventure 2Dudez
One of 184 cache finds during our "Ballarat Smackdown" weekend of caching on the 23rd to 25th. There were 13 of us including Blacklegend and three of his kids, Trailrunning, Haveanez and their two boys, Dazrascal and myself amd my two boys Tyler and Cooper. We'd spent a few weeks planning the trip, with every Ballarat Puzzle solved in the area, cache lists and road and route maps all ready to go. We stayed in the Miners Retreat Motel for the two nights and the accomodation and facilities were great. Our goal was simple - find as many caches as possible in the time we were here !
We found a great variety of caches and hides during the three days, which also involved a bit of walking and some 4WD fun as well in the state forests north of Ballarat. The weather was quite cold of the Friday and Saturday morning but eventually cleared to nice sunny weather Saturday arvo and Sunday. We all had a great time, especially the kids who did really well to keep up with the pace we were moving.
Our third day of caching and it was another big day ahead of us before splitting up early in the afternoon. With some four wheel driving, some essential caches to collect and getting 'lost' in the bush and some tricky caches found, the day turned out to be quite an adventure. With cars loaded with the gear and kids, we checked out of the accommodation and hit the road.
Haveanez and Dazrascal had left for home so it was Trailrunning, Blacklegand and my group still caching away. We had the best fun 4W driving to the cache, with the track having varying degrees of gradient both up and down, with a few rather steep sections. The boys were laughing all the way. Once at GZ it didnt take too long to find the cache in its well made hiding spot. Thanks for the hide and a favourite for me and my boys.

One of 182 caches I personally found during our "Ballarat Smackdown" trip. The trip included teams Quasar3671, Trailrunning, Haveanez, Dazrascal and myself. Caches included around 30 mystery caches, a few earth caches, lots of trads and multis and both day and night caching. Some 4WD action was encountered as well, which was great. All puzzles within 60kms were solved.
I took three of my kids, Jasmine 7yo, James and Jemma 5yo twins, traveling from Tocumwal. The trip covered 3 days and two nights, staying in Ballarat. Quasar3671 took his two boys as did Haveanez. One of the best caching trips I have been on, and certainly lots and lots of finds, almost clearing out the main Ballarat area. Home base was the Miners Retreat motel, which was quite pleasant and quiet.
This was a find on our Sunday day run, which was only a half day run. Awesome drive into this one on some great 4WD tracks. Kids squealed all the way with the car bouncing around. No problem with the driving though. TFTC.

We were up to cache 132 at the conclusion of the Saturday of the “Ballarat Cache Smackdown”. Having arrived here on Friday night we had gone hard all weekend. It didn’t stop last night with a few juices being drunk before going to bed. The after effects of this were that we are all a little slow in starting up today. Having packed the cars and checking out of our home base we started our Sunday run with a few caches we missed the night before (the kids really did need to go to bed). The highlight of my morning was straining my left calf muscle running up a 4WD track. That sort of slowed me down for the rest of the day. We had a few must do caches today before splitting up and heading home. This was one of them. Find #151. A nice 4WD dirve into this one. Thanks.
Using OS mapping on the Montana, not all tracks are shown so took an interesting route in and ended up with about a 200 metre stroll across the hillside to GZ. Cache quickly located and the log was signed. Then an interesting 40 point turn was made to return along the access track initially taken. Thanks 2Dudez for the cache.
We had our own little adventure in this area about a week ago after heavy rain. We took a short cut to go to someones place and ended up with the back end of the landcruiser sliding around. We had to fill in some of the deep ruts with branches and shovelled in some dirt/mud and eventually got down to the bottom of the track, with the car and us looking a bit on the muddy side. So today we played it safe and approached by foot from a different direction. Thanks 2Dudez
This cache was a bit tough to get to without a 4WD, my shoes were very muddy by the end of the journey! My pants fared pretty well so it was nothing that couldn't be scraped off or worn away.
Soon found at 3.30pm with Spindel and the Karate Kids. What a 4WDrive through! Might I suggest a pleasant walk through the bush for the feint hearted!! Log book & cache were wet, dried out as best we could, sun was hot but log still damp. Took: builder, empty wedding bubbles & rusty key ring. Left: Hippopotamus & green frog TFTC 2Dudez...some of us quite enjoyed the challenge of getting there! The view was great! Whoops! accidentally brought home cache pencil so anyone heading up needs to BYO Pen!
Gave the 4WD a bit of a work out with this one but had fun doing it. Found the cache easily enough, however the log book may need replacing due to the dampness.
TNLN - thanks for the fun cache.

Thanks for the cache 2Dudez.
Thanks for the cache 2Dudez.
Found today in the company of sully1. We had to remove or drive over a few fallen trees to get tothis one, the storms have certainly done a bit of damage.
I suppose it's a tad harsh to suggest the cache needs maintenance and expect 2dudes to clear the way......LOL
Thanks 2Dudes for showing us this spot, TNLNSL

This one has been on our to do list for far too long, and took advantage of the great weather today. What great views we were spoilt with on arrival at GZ. We spent five minutes looking for this cleverly hidden cache, in which the hide we have seen before. However the cache was a little damp due to the recent heavy rains. No swaps
Thanks 2Dudez for another one of your good caches.

Found at 11:15 with leechie and family - our first for the day.
Leechie was keen to do some caching at his old stomping ground in the GeoPrado - it was quite easy to get to this one. I've seen this type of hide before, but it was actually leechie who found the cache.
Nice work, 2Dudez - thanks

Drove to within 5 metres of gz. I didn't bother to take the gps and immediately spotted a likely hide and hit pay dirt. I like the effort put into this one, even took a pic. Thanks to 2Dudez for the cache.

Love the way this one was hid. Nice views. Starting to rain now, see how I go on the track down
This is certainly 4WD territory, (the Cache name is hoot and very apt) as 'The Quiet Plodders' humble 2-legs drive can attest. Luckily, my Boots had 'sufficient' ground clearance and it was not a hot day! It was a rollicking plod to find this cleverly hidden Cache, which I greatly appreciated, especially the effort involved in its placing. The Forest in the vicinity is Nature at her best with little invasive undergrowth (though a few down and up Gullies did 'test' the legs) enabling a cautious off track approach on foot. It's a fine place to stop and have a 'brew', after you have found the Cache, and just listen to the sounds of the Forest. Thanks to '2Dudez' for another enjoyable Cache and the 'Forest exploration' (much Flora & Fauna that kept TQP busy with his Camera) that preceeded the find. TNLCC. TQP
Second time "lucky" for me. I had visited GZ a year ago with a muggle friend of mine who lives nearby. To my annoyance, we had no success. This time I was visiting my friend again, and she'd been caching with me earlier in the day, but she had things to do which meant I revisited GZ on my own this time. I was actually on my mountain bike (but too unfit and unskilled for some of the terrain!), and after some searching, using the same strategies and with similar suspicions as last time, I succeeded. Nicely done! Thanks 2dudez; my travelling coin passes through in tribute.
Absolutely brilliant hiding place. Tried to do this at twilight and was unable to find it, but returned and was victorious! Beautiful views, ingenious cache, great experience. Did this with Line, Karl and Gyps.
Sneaky sneaky sneaky! This was a fun one.

Took the prado for a drive while in Ballarat for the weekend. I had loaded this one on the tom tom as it sounded interesting. We drove up to it no worries. Then started the search. I was about to give up as it was getting dark when I gave the area one last search and found it where I had previously looked. Very clever.
Thanks KL

Apologies for a very late log for this one mainly due to misplacing our caching notepad and also a bit of caching burnout! Another Ballarat cache found on the day after the Anzac Day event 2009. TFTC. We did this one with Team Rubik into and enjoyed the drive and then the walk to GZ. A clever cammo that took some time to find and we were glad to head back to the car as the rain was coming and the trees were starting to move around about from the wind. TFTC 2dudez. Cheers.
After 4 years of visiting Ballarat and never having the time nor vehicle access to attempt this cache I finally made it today! I had the entire cdmark clan with me as we made our way towards GZ. We don't know if we had the correct track but a fallen tree prevented us getting all the way there, so we strolled through the bush for the last 100m.
After reading a few previous logs earlier in the day we were prepared for a clever hide at GZ and weren't disappointed! Top work for camo, great effort. The only downside for me was the huntsman that lived with the cache!
Once logged we headed back to escape the rain but with a sense of relief at finally finding this one!
Many thanks for the location and hide,

Lucy enjoyed the walk through the bush to this one. Unfortunately it started raining as we got to GZ but a short search had the cache in hand and the rain stopped as we reached the car again.
Took the geocoin as it has been here for a while.

What an epic. Finally found it on my fourth attempt.
First time, GPS was all over the place at Trail Bike Central. Ran out of light and gave up. (Memo: Forget that area on weekends.)
Second. Back the next day. GPS settled well and no traffic. It put me right on the spot. Despite being on location and a thorough search, nothing showed itself. (Well, a beginner's thorough search, anyway.)
Third time. Right! I go out this morning and I'm not going home 'til I've got it. After all, it's only 2 stars. GPS lobbs me back on the same spot. Some hours later, despondent and hungry, I pull the plug. (Lucky I don't live too far away.)
Day 4: After a few days off and a bit of thought along the lines of "How would I hide it at this location?", I head off to exactly the same spot again and "Bingo!".
I checked that exact spot 3 or 4 times but just not thoroughly enough. Oh Well! I'm learning.
Excellent hide. I'm impressed.
Thanks 2Dudez! An enjoyable challenge.

Another 2 Dudez cache off the list, had my eye on this one for a while, but today had a small window of time and had a go. Came in from the high end after stuffing up the navigation, after getting the right track, quickly found the cache, in fact it was the first place I looked ( for a change). Great hide. !
After looking at the challenge I decided to take the old pathy down the LHS track, made for a fun trip home.
Dropped off a Geocoin to mark the Occasion.

Found quite quickly this time round!!

Found it after the second try with Fozzy778 with help from photo evidence provided by 2dudez.
On our first look we searched everywhere, the place looks like rabbits have been trying to make themselves new homes.
We tried for a land speed record along the track, Mr & Mrs Fozzy hitting the roof on a few occasions. We took the left track up the hill. Yahoo!! what a ride ..
Great cache, great bush, thanks heaps 2dudez

Failed to find this cache, the only DNF out of 5 caches in this short arvo of hunting.
Took FlyJabiru1's 4WD in to this one searched with a party of 9, but STILL DNF!!
After reading the logs, I think we need to return and pass an extra observant eye over the area!!
I don't easily give up hunting, but it was 8 against 1, so you do the math!!!!
We just hope its still there, its been 6 months since the last log!!

I found the cache at 10:55. I decided to park my Hyundai Getz 300m from the cache as I had left the hand winch at home today. This was an Interesting piece of hill to come up, if only I had the beast here. I liked the hide on this one it took me some time to locate. I had shock horror of my own when I was about to drive off I realized I had left my caching bag back at GZ, I sure earned my smiley on this one. Thanks 2Dudez for the cache and the exercise.
The hillside was found on foot after I had left the car about 400metres away. Probably better that way, less temptation
Took a while to find the cache it did !!
But eventually I found the sneaky little blighter [^]
TFTC. Took the World Venturer travel bug.

Team members included Keymaster, Diceman & Queen of hearts. Found this cache after climbing a small hill in our 4wd. A little wet but no real hassles.

Was amazed to see that, after entering the waypoint into the GPS, it fell on a track that I've used for motorcycling for the past 10 years! Was a good excuse to take the Disco over the same track.
Great hide - took a bit to find - thought I was going to be 0 for 2 for the day. Thankfully not.
TNLNSL - TB is still there.
Thanks 2Duduez

A late log. I found this with RoundCircle and just getting around to logging.

Drove in till the GPS said 400M from GZ. The road dropped away, so we decided to park the GeoFalcon. In younger (sillier) days I would have driven all the way. A steep but pleasant walk. I can see that this would be interesting after a little rain. Not sure I could even drive in as far as I did.
Arrived at GZ and started searching. No luck, so decided the 2Dudez GPS must out, (It couldn't possibly be my GPS). Widened the search area. Still no luck. Reread the recent logs. Hmmm. Went back to where we started. Ah ha. Something looks out of place. And there was the cache.
Took a hose connector and left Simpson's figure (Mr Burns). I also removed a used Ballarat train ticket. (Who thought that leaving that here was a good swap????)
Dropped in World Venture TB.
Thanks 2 Dudez.

Sorry Deano for the term used over the phone. Had to use the helpline on this one, after GeoMum and GeoDad had walked into the cache, and were not wanting to get a DNF to start the day.
Once in hand we signed left in disgust and gathered our breath after the walk in.

An almost horrific drive in to this one. Thank goodness it wasn't wet. A very clever and innovative hide which was much appreciated. Thanks 2dudez.
Glad we walked the last 400 metres. Had a feeling once we got up the first hill things might have got worse as far as the 2WD went. GPS took a while to settle down, but once it did, it was determined to stay put on the same spot, and yet we came up with zero. Gave up after about 20 mins. Now having read the recent logs, we will want to return.
This was one of those occasions when we should have read the logs earlier. We searched gz carefully and then decided to head off to Black Duck. Read the logs and thought we knew where it was but came back a different way and Mr Morris had to complete the final leg solo. It wasn't exactly what we thought but it was where the GPSr said it was. Felt quite at home really.
TNLN but tnx for something unexpected.

Interesting drive in to gz although fortunately I have a reasonable 4WD. Once at gz the hunt began. My gps was off a little intially as ever but once it settled it steadily pointed at a certain area. I searched it several times, read the description several times, and then found the cache. The coords were spot on and the description did help. Thaks 2Dudez for a good placement and hunt. T car, Left frog.
FOUND IT!
Very very cleverly disguised, failed to notice it even after staring it in the face several times - I won't say what made it give up its secrets, but suffice to say it was a fluke (correct, I thought it was hidden elsewhere after reading the previous logs, got a bit frustrated when it wasn't there!)
Turns out my much distrusted GPS was right on the mark, I think I owe it an apology!
TNLNSL - TFTC, and for a fantastic drive (tackled the rocks today, coming face to face with a few trailbike riders as I did so. Nice guys though!)

Didn't find it today, but after reading the logs I think I looked at it about 50 times....... Heading back out this afternoon to check!!
Adding picture - this is my geohirux looking at the same rocks the last cacher was perched on going "uh - no..."

Wow!
I had spent a day in a training session and was looking for a way to wind down. After a highly commended from Embi I thought I'd have a go at this rather than a few caches closer to town. I'm pretty well equipped so figured I'd be right on my own - and I normally tackle much worse (http://4wdstuff.davejones.com.au) so I set off. The worst part was finding a way over the freeway!
I wonder if the falcon hubcap was from a prior caching attempt in an inappropriate vehicle?
Who would have thought that you could get into low range less than 10km from the CBD of Ballarat?!?
After a quick GAFF1 find I took a couple of snaps of the geofourbie perched on the hard route down which I'll post here.
Thanks guys, TNLN,
DJ

A very pleasant drive-by cache in the cruiser. We were very impressed by the cache - when we actually found it, right where the GPS said it would be!!

Got lost getting there, tried to break car and got lost getting out. I should get better maps… Had fun running up and down hills too. Spent ages looking for cache, but found eventually. The co-ords were spot on today. TNLN. Thanks 2Dudez.
After departing from a great weekend, we plotted our sights on this cache, and with info provided by Team Crackers we were confident we could find this cache before dark.
The tracks on the lap top seemed straight forward however finding the right track proved to be harder than we imagined. Now in the dark the tracks became dead ends and the mud became more slippery. We finally found a track that pointed towards the cache and in low 4wd we slipped-gripped, slide-spun our way to GZ.
Finally we stopped near GZ on a wash away and by dim torch light we began our search. With light rain falling and the track turning to more mud we phoned Team Crackers for a hint and while on the phone Michael called “found itâ€. After signing the log we headed down the track advised by Team Crackers and upon reaching the right track junction I said “Bugger me how did I miss this track inâ€, turning onto the next easy track I again said “Bugger me again how did I miss this one inâ€.
Many thanks 2Dudez for a fun and exciting cache that we are sure is worth visiting in daylight.
Regards Mr.Coffee and the “No Horror as we couldn’t see any hillside just up and down by headlights†Clan.

After doing a cache maintenance check in Ballarat and heading for Creswick we decided to do a slight detour to pick this one up. We only chose one wrong track on finding a way here. We enjoyed the drive in, especially after all the rain. Having a Magellan, we actually drove slightly past the cache and walked back to gz. The well hidden cache was found after a brief search

Very much enjoyed this cache and we drove to within two metres of GZ so it was easy to boot. Took some photo's of the clever hide but cant post them obviously. My 4WD handled the track easily and we navigated correctly as well so all in all a great cache.
Thanks again. Left a green clamp and took a pig.

Dear 2Dudez,
I logged your cache today at 8:55am as the third cache of thirty four on our Ballarat and Beyond Cache Bash with Dak and Embi. Embi had once again already logged this cache so he was able to navigate us very close to GZ. For the second time in two caches my GPSr had not quite settled and my starting point was about 15m away from where Dak had started his search. In the minute or so it took me to work my way back to him, he had already managed to scan the area twice and had made the find just as I approached. Note to self - keep GPSr very close to side window when approaching GZ. Nice hide. Thanks for the cache.
Kind Regards,
D B-A

Third of twenty-six cache finds in company with embi and Rabbitto. This was the first of twelve 2Dudez caches today. We were mighty glad to have the services of the embi 4x4 on this cache; we were able to drive to within metres of it. I initially passed over the cache location, but a proper search turned up the cache at 0855. Great camo! Coords were spot on. Thanks to 2Dudez for the cache.
