According to the Port Macquarie Hastings Council's web site, the construction and upgrade of the Tacking Point Lighthouse area is expected to be completed (weather permitting) by 25 December 2024. So even if the cache is archived, no-one will be able to place a cache there until the works are completed.
Coordinates changed from:S 31 28.545 E 152 56.242Coordinates changed to:S 31 28.560 E 152 56.201Distance from original: 231.6 feet or 70.6 meters.Temporarily moving the cache away from the construction zone.
Cache temporarily moved to a nearby lookout until construction work is completed. You won't be able to drive to the lighthouse while construction work is in progress. Park near the corner of Lighthouse Rd and Davis Cres and walk 400 metres to a lovely view.
Area has been cordoned off for landscaping work, which will take a few months to complete.
Tftc my name isn't in there as I had to rush cuz of the wind and I was suspicious of the plastic bag with the bicarb soda in it as it was next to a beer bottle and I didn't want to go touching that. Thanks
Veni. Vidi. Vici. Scripsi. Visiting the Lighthouse, and doing a bit of whale spotting before our whale watching cruise tomorrow. Looked at the map, and saw that there was a cache close by. Had a quick read of the cache notes, and wandered to GZ. Lots of muggles around, but they were all more concentrated on spotting whales rather than looking at the cacher behind them finding the cache. At GZ the cache was out in the open, as the covering rocks were not there, but close by. Extracted the log and signed it, and then reassembled the cache, and returned it to the hide, and then covered it back up with the nearby rocks so it matched the hints. Fun find.Gratias pro cache pprass
Beautiful spot! Saw whales while we were there. My son hid a travel bug in it from Hawaii!
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Staying in Wauchope for a few days. We headed to Port Macquarie today and we must thank DiMorgan for fixing the weather, today was great, not too hot, NO rain, gentle breeze, what more could we ask forWay too many caches here for us to tackle. Picked up a few as we toured Port Macquarie being our first visit here. Lots of crafty caches and so many fave point dished out today. This area was crazy busy today. We had to visit twice as we couldn't get parking on our first visit. TFTC pprass
