Came up here earlier today to discover the recent archiving, a bit of shame it got muggled as it is a nice spot and view. Looking at a recent photo from a dnf'er, I would have thought that the last 'found it' claim appears false and should be deleted? Cheers
We parked at the bottom and geo kids & I made the trek up Mt Black! Been going to come here for ages & grab this one. Sad to say I think it missing! But we found this. See attatched photo!
A shame to DNF this one but it doesn't seem to be within a 20m radius of GZ... parked within 270m and walked the rest... thanks for bringing us to this view Derringer
It must be Carma that the bananas who like a bit of adventure have been required to find a Derringer treasure in order to complete a challenge.
A daunting possibility.
But that only inspires the bananas.
So off we go to that Dark Space and discover our dreams.
And like all Derringer caches, once the trip has been made, against all the potential difficulties.
Success was truely satisfying.

camping out at Major creek reserve over the Easter break, I managed to convince the family to come out this way to help me get closer to find #300. Not knowing exactly how to get to this cache, we ended up coming up the back way. Even though we now have a 4wd, hubby doesn't feel too confident to be too adventurous so we parked halfway down and walked the rest, which did us all good anyway. Loved the view at the top and the history also, we also found the easier way to get to the top. I was disappointed though that I couldn't find this cache. I searched every possibility but it remains a mystery for me. Thanks for bringing us here though, and we managed a great amount of firewood for tonight and we had a nice picnic too.
Took the walk from the bottom as I didn't want to take the track with the Subie. It's a bit low to the ground and there may have been a few speed humps. Anyway, it was a pleasant walk of just over 200 meters to GZ. The cache was located and extracted from its hide, signed and replaced.
Very interesting location. Looks like it gets a few feral visitors.

Geocaching with members of U3A Seymour & District today. Finding a few caches that I have not found before, but this was not one of them. There were four of us and we searched and searched. It was not in the last place we looked so we gave up, but, we will return!
Found with Geonps. Our 2nd find for today's Kids Matter session. Loved the 4WD we ended up doing. TFTC
Found 12/5/15 with our teacher A-Team122 for our Kids Matter Program at school. Lots of fun with a bit of 4WD to get to the GZ (think we should have stuck to proper tracks). What a view!! Late back to school but all worth it.
Found on ANZAC day family trip out to explore Whroo forest. Left the 2WD Vehicle at the bottom and took the 4WD up to the top while some of the family chose to walk. A fun little hide.. had us tricked for a few minutes.
It was too long between reading the website and saving this to the GPS then actually attempting it. We parked and walked up the hill, which was a good, steep, exhausting climb, just to find that there was a road coming in from the other side that we could have driven too. The hide was a bit more challenging to find than expected but it wasn't too long before the log was signed and we walked/slid back down to the car. At that point we saw the sign on the road to the lookout. Oh well, I suppose the climb was good for us, either that or it shortened our life a bit !
TFTC, good view from the top once my heart had slowed down enough to enjoy it.

Parked at what looked like a track and hiked up, only to find the 'real' track goes down the other side of the Mt. Great views. TFTC
We also had an outback with us but were unsure if it would happily climb this slippery slope. In the end we decided not to risk it and only drove partway up. It was quite a steep climb to the top and it was a very warm day, but we made it. Looked around in bewilderment as to why someone would put a BBQ and picnic table up here! GPSr led me right to the cache... but it took me a few minutes as I looked in all the wrong places! Found the cheeky cache, this one is also in good nick. TFTC Derringer, I will be back for the other one!

Took an extra day of annual leave so I could head up to Nagambie to do some much needed maintenance on my caches up there. I had heaps of time, so Decided to stop on the way for some nice quick driveby's.
After spending five hours doing cache maintenance on the Golburn river, I decided to find a few more caches myself. I was not sure if my Outback could make it to GZ for this one, but I decided to give it a shot. No Problems at all. Once I parked the car, it was a short walk to GZ. It did take me an unusually long time to find this one, but after a little expansion of the search grid, the cache was found. Unfortunately it was indeed a dark view from the top today and the surrounding trees were blocking some spots too.
Thanks to Derringer for placing this cache. TNLN

We were fast running out of time today. Our gps took us, what we realised later, the very long way around and up. We made our way to the top and admired the view. Initially, in our rush, we overlooked the hidey hole but a closer look revealed the cache, we signed the log and we were on our way. Thanks for bringing us here Derringer. We managed to drive and park within 50m of the cache. Bonus!
Found on a caching trip to the area with Mrs McLooker. We were able to take the car very close to GZ. Then we walked the short distance to the find. Thanks Derringer.
Nice walk up the hill, haha, saw a wallaby and an echidna
what beautiful views! Thanks for the cache

I can't believe I spent my childhood in view of this and it's taken me seventy years to get up here and see the view. Thanks to Muggle Hubby who managed to drive right to the top in his X-Trail, and to the cache owner for putting the coordinates in where the best track up to the lookout starts from. I was keen to find this one for the Share The Love challenge as it is a while since it was found but I think I forgot to date my entry in the log, I did take a photo of myself with the log though. I am pleased to report the cache is in excellent condition, it looks as if it were only put there yesterday it is so clean.
Found this one after camping in the state park. We drove up the mountain and soon arrived at gz. We took about ten minutes to find it after that. TNLN

Got up here bright and early on a frosty Nagambie morning. No trouble getting the 4wd up here, just a matter of taking it slow and steady. I wouldn't want to be caught up here on a wet day though, the path could turn slippery on the way back down.
It took a little bit of a search to find the goods, but nothing too taxing.
The view from up here is fantastic, but a bit bitter sweet. I spent a long while looking across at Mount Black knowing that there is another Derringer cache up there somewhere that will need to wait for another day.

Out Geocaching with fellow family while camping over Easter, which included, uncles, cousins, 2nd & 3 rd cousins..... Thanks for the Geo Coin will start it on its journey when we get home!!! Was an amazing view would love to come back for a picnic one day
Out with family members SaharaH99, BernieH, AngelaChris and Shah05 this was an interesting spot not so far away from our camp.
Excellent location for a Geocache. What a wonderful view. I love the quarry below where the rock for goulburn weir was taken. Angelachris. Thanks for the Geocoin. Will take it overseas in May.
Camping on Majors Creek for two weeks over Easter, relaxing, fishing... and the odd cache along the way.
Great spot for a picnic some day. Magic views.
TFTC Derringer.
PS Picked up an un-activated Geocoin and so I will start it on it's journey. Thanks to whoever dropped it off.

The caching day started not too far away,
By some baths in the park that aren't used today [:o]
Breaking camp at sunrise,
I got a surprise,
To find a couple of caches not far away
Ok!! So from the get go this cache chase went wrong
I pushed the "GOTO" button on the GPS and tried to follow the direct line to the cache
I followed a few good tracks with actual names for a while, but even this early I was zig-zagging across the map [:o]
My map showed several roads through the forest including some that ran within a few hundred metres of GZ.
But I kept finding other tracks that looked promising and followed them
A couple of false leads and 'U-turns' later and I found another promising trail.
It wound between olde mine workings and through creeks and slowly wound it's way uphill
The track started to disappear into the surroundings as it climbed higher
I stubbornly followed it upwards
After over an hour I was finally starting to get close to GZ.
If the track stopped I was within walking distance now
About 400 metres south of GZ the track really did become indistinct and I wondered how much further the little used trail would continue [:o]
200 metres to GZ and I reached a point where the geomobile said "NO"
OK!! I was off on foot to find the cache.
Imagine my surprise when I saw a picinic table at the top of the hill [:o]
Oh wait !! Not one picinic table, three picinic tables and fireplaces [:o]
I concluded that there must be an easier way to get to this spot
On the return walk to the geomobile I worked out where the last couple of hundred metres of the 'invisible track' to the top was
About 10 minutes later, and a lot of faffing about, the geomobile was parked at the picinic grounds and I could enjoy the relief of knowing there was a really easy way to drive back down the hill
As if to add to my frustration at getting here, the cache refused to show itself for a goodly 15 minutes [:(!]
All that mucking about and stress for a DNF ??!! [:o]
Wandering off a bit I looked back at GZ and saw "THE" hidey hole
This cache was a challenge from beginning to end, and I enjoyed every minute of it [^]
Hey!! Who needs to read cache notes ? [:o)]
If I had I would have found the easy way to GZ !!

This is a nice hide, it had me walking around a bit looking in the more likely spots till i found it. nice views. Well deserving a cache.TFTGC.
Was on my way to Rushworth for a rally so took the scenic forest route. Found the track up to the top, started driving up and decided that a real 4WD (with low range) would be much more suitable than the trusty Forester so started the walk. Certainly a good heart starter, even got Alf, a muggle travelling with me today climbed the hill and certainly a great view through the trees of the surrounding area, well worth it. Anyway, to the cache, whilst Alf took in the view, I followed the GPSr to a likely spot ans started the hunt. Hmmm, not there so really followed the GPSr to 0m and found the cache quickly thereafter! From memory this is my first Derringer cache, thanks heaps for bringing me up here, certainly worth the walk. (didn't try the one on the next hill, one is enough for one day so will have to come back!)
pretty quick find with Miggsy and 2 workmates...
unfortunately there was no way the hire car would make it up that track, so we had to walk...

Started to attempt the climb up hill with 3 geokids but after 10 metres of spiders and prickles we went back to the vehicle and found the track further around. Got to within <1m of the coordinates but with no luck searching a 10m radius in places that would be good spots. Not sure if its been muggled by recent campers on the lookout?
We stopped at the start of the track up the hill and Mrs Ozjeeper stopped Mr Ozjeeper from driving up it. After an arduous clim, the summit was reached and we had a chat to a biker who had taken the easy rout up to the top just around the corner from where we had commenced our ascent. Its been a few months since this one was attempted and despite a thorough search we came up empty handed. Perhaps the hiding spot was just a bit too sneaky for us to find.

I was in the area to establish a radio comms point for the Nissan Night Moves car rally being held nearby in this forest. I took a slight detour on my way to my location and had a nice easy drive to gz. Found it in the second place I looked. I would have liked to have grabbed the one on the other hill but I had to be in my allocated position at 5pm so I will grab that another time. T: goecoin, LNSL Thanks Derringer!

Lovely drive to the top of this cache. Was about to hike up from the track that said 'Lookout" but noticed a well formed track. easy drive.
Beautiful views of the surrouding area.
Was about to give as we couldn't find it, logged on to net (thanks NextG) and read logs, hard to find retrieve was the previous, had a better look, and did notice a deep dark spot, had to do a bit of damage to the hiding spot to get as it had gone in way to far. Signed log and hopefully placed in a secure location.

Great view of what looks like most of Victoria!
Don't know about driving up, we could only get half way before the track gets a bit churned up. In the interests of preserving the area its probably better not to drive up. (I'll stop lecturing now...)

After Darkview Panorama, this one was much easier. Was able to drive to the summit then wander a short distance to GZ.
Easily found 'coz the birds were being kind to me, and marks in the dirt were an obvious sign!!
Next was to find a way home to Northern Vic through the scrub, with the sun setting and the roos bounding along in great numbers.

As I am currently living in a rather flat location, I take every opportunity to gain some height and experience some undulating terrain. So understandably, this cache and its neighbour certainly had me tempted! Tackled this one at 10:05am on a rather warm morning, and extensive views were on offer. The cache took a little while to locate due to its rather sneaky location (for a bush cache, that is!).

After a brief look at the wrong track we managed to drive the X-trail up the correct one without any problems. Once at gz we found the cache in a typical Derringer hide . We then had a bite to eat as we enjoyed the view.
What a great view waiting at gz I took the land rover up the rocky path which was an adventure in itself made the find quite easy and signed log also lucky 2 have spotted 3 emus in the area I cant say that ive seen any wild emus in this part of the state before
Found at 10.10am GAFF1 in the company of Rabbitto. A perfect day for views from the top of hills. We decided to see if the Patrol could make it up the loose track and as expected it performed faultlessly - not so good later on at ADV-Panarama! Cache quickly found and then we took in the vista on this perfectly still and clear morning. Thanks Derringer - loved the spot tn/ln
I found our 5th Derringer cache in the company of Pprass at 10:10am as the 2nd of 17 on our Shepparton Shuffle I. A late addition to our hunt and Pprass was able to drive effortlessly within metres of the cache. Another great Derringer spot and view. Thanks for the cache from D B-A.

Wasn't until I found the cache and was about to leave when I found the road down. Much easier and less rocky than the way I went up, trusty Nissan handled it just fine
Loaded the car and grabbed Mon from Team GraMon to pick up some caches on the way to Malmsbury. This was our first for the day and after some serious bush bashing we decided that we will now follow the roads rather than the compass . Found cache eventually and saw a spectacular view all around, also saw some great examples of Xanthorrhoea preissii - virtually a forest of them at one stage. Thanks for the interesting location Derringer. Thought we would leave 'Dark Panorama' for another time.

A quick stop in... or so I thought. I thought I saw the obvious cache drive as I pulled up and sat down to eat lunch at the nice bench seat. I wandered down to the hidey spot and oh no.... The cache must have been muggles it's not there. After much searching, turning GPS on and off and widening my search I gave up and was thankfull there was mobile coverage. Rubik gave me a hint and I found a most unlike Derringer hide. Thanks for the cache and a great view. Now off to get the other one.
Good healthy walk up the short hill. Too smokey to get a good view and cache was well hidden. Dropped Geocoin that would now have been molten metal in the Vic Alps!
Well this was it No 100. After a trip down the dusty roads from Rushy and locating the best track for access it was a steep but quick walk up the hill with Stickler with the cache being located shortly there after.
I have really enjoyed collecting my first 100 and now look forward to the next 100.

Found on 03/12/06 @ 0959 AEDT. this cache was one of those where reading the cache page would have made the trip a bit less exciting . When Malby the GeoHound and I got to within a few hundred metres of GZ, I spotted a track(of sorts) that went up the hill, so up the hil in the RhinoMobile we went. Half way up I commented to malby that the track was a lot tougher than I expected [:o]. it was only when we got to the top that we discovered the carpark and well made track that we 'should' have come up .
The cache was found easily after I looked in a number of places it wasn't

We had a flat tyre on the back roads across from Redcastle (detected the moment we got onto the asphalt Heathcote-Nagambie Road), so we were in no mood to take risks. It's amazing how having no spare tyre affects how you drive! We got to the turnoff to this lookout and there was no way we were going to drive up THERE - even in our Subaru Outback. Fortunately it was a short (but steep) walk but even the 12 and a half year old GeoDog made it O.K. We admired the view and took a few mobile phone calls. It's very annoying to get tele-marketer calls (diverted from our home phone) in this wilderness when you know that you are paying for the diverted call. At GZ there were a few obvious places for the cache but no cache there. The next place we looked the cache was found - at 3:55pm. It's well hidden! The location is very peaceful with only the sound of birds, bugs and the wind. Great. Thanks Derringer for bringing us here. We took a dinosaur and left a toy car (not a 4WD).
[:(!] [:(!] Grrr, didn't find this one... yet. Had a time limit to get back to Heathcote to take Pickupfamily Daughter to party in Melbourne in the afternoon. Pickupfamily Dad out alone chose the wrong road in, and after finding there being no mobile phone service, decided not to risk "fording" too many big puddles. Tried another road and it was much better, but didn't take the final track up the hill, walked 200m up instead.
At GZ, searched a number of different spots to no avail, lots of possibilities but no cache found. Would have searched longer, but had to leave at 11:20am in order to get back in time. Took a photo of what I think was the most likely spot to email Derringer to see if I was on the right track.

Coming past this area with very little light remaining we decided to take the 4wd option with hopes of arriving in time to enjoy the views that we were sure would be there. We were not disappointed and we were rewarded with great views of the setting sun .
It took us quite a while to locate the cache after a couple of false starts.

After enjoying the view for a little longer we decided to go back and check out A Dark Panorama We now understand why Captain Melville chose this spot and we thank you for sharing it with us

9.30am
Found by Roma and Max.
Feeling a bit masochistic this morning, and needing the exercise, we decided to search for this owners two new caches hidden not that far from our home town. As it turned out neither one was as physically challenging as some of theirs we have experienced previously, and proved to be a pleasant walk in Captain Melvilles footsteps.
We thought we had found it first off, but that proved not to be. The sulphur crested cockatoos were very vocal as they watched our continued search until success was achieved.
We took a Blue Rubber Finger Thimble and left a small Mondo Figurine.
Thanks again Derringer,
