Caching in the rain. A bit hard to get a lock under the trees and clouds but we got there eventually. The log is a little damp as the ziplock did not seem to be done up properly but it is not too bad and should dry out. TNLN.
Heading home from SteamFest we decided to grab this cache. I remember when this place was in its hayday and it is a pitty it is all closed down now. I still like coming here though.

Grabbing a few caches while around Newcastle before returning to the ACT. Spent some time on this, but no luck and no more time to linger. Seeing a snake slither away was no encouragement so we moved on
Shell and I were on the way up to the Hunter Valley for a wedding and we thought why not drop in and grab a few caches! Matt used to come through here 20 years ago and most things haven't changed!!!
Thanks Team Yota for the cache.

We have driven passed this location so many times we decided today to give it a go. The track is overgrown so wear shoes and the geo wife did the rest. Her comment was what a clever hide.

Location of the cache is within a place that has overgrown over time. Cache found after going round and round in circles, trees played havoc with GPSr. Got out of scrub with a few scratches, long pants/shoes would be advisable.
TNSL left spider.

We recognised the roadhouse from when we came this way about 8 years ago on the way up to the Hunter wineries. Surprised to see the same craft stalls outside. Tracked the cache down but poor signal under the trees and stump description needed liberal interpretation. TNLN
Found this after a long day of caching in the Watagans State Forest. Still in good condition. Lunch at the nearby truck stop was quite good.

Good lord, it's been over 20 years since I was in this neck of the woods. I had a hell of a shock when I pulled up, as the milkbar was still open, and it still looked the same as it did when I was 13.
The cache took the kids and I a little time, but we found it. The trees wreaked havoc with my GPSr. I didn't see any sign of the picnic tables either, although the overgrown BBQ is still there.

So many years ago,we would stop near here on our trips up and down the coast. What a difference a fereeway makes to travel.
the milkbar has changed handsa few time by the loks of it, But i dont ever remember the museum being there or ever being open, so it must have been a short term thing.
and what a cool ampitheatre!, i wondfer if they ever actually used it?
Anyway... Found this cache in an iteresting area that has obviously seen better days.
the cache was slightly damp, but we logged it without problems.
FOund on the trip to the maitland cache hunters event.

'Twas a dark and rainy evening when I managed to find the cache, the GPSr had me running around all over the place but eventually got it without using the clue.

On our way home from the Hunter Blues festival. Stopped off for a quick find as we passed. Knew the area and can remember it in its former state, makes you wonder why a spot like this dies. TNLN Thanks for the hunt.
Second of 14 finds for the Team FAST Cache - Hunter Valley Night Caching run with geo-wal and zebrafive. Found at 9:50pm.
The GPSr got us to the general vicinity, but was useless for the finer details such as the actual cache location. A quick scout around based on the clue netted the prize.

2/14 for the Team FAST Cache Found at 9:50pm.
Hard to get a lock on the GPS... mine sent me wandering off 20m away from the cache. Was a bit worried about snakes on the walk to/from. But I guess they're the risks we take in this extreme sport

This was our second time looking for this one. Last time it was pouring with rain and the GPS would not settle and we were getting drenched waiting for it. Today was easy, almost went straight to it. TNLN
This was an interesting find. Kids took cards and left a coloured candle. Gotta watch out for the leaches!!!! lol

Strange. I just about walked straight up to this one - took two minutes of searching. Brought back many memories of stopping at the nearby shop for a spearmint milkshake that was promptly redeposited somewhere in Mulbring.
Shame that the place has gone to pot the way it has. It used to be quite a busy place.

During a break from driving between Sydney and the Hunter Valley I wandered around the bush in search of this Geocache. The contents are a little damp, particularly the Geocache notice. Took Nothing, left Tigger.
Found this cache with my family and extended family on holiday. I heard that before this area was bypassed it was a major truck stop and a thriving rest stop area. Only a memory now. The cache was a bit off GZ and in a very poor location not consistant with the clue so I relocated it a few metres to where I believe it was supposed to be. now the clue and coordinates should be accurate.
Third time lucky. Think binjaino was a good luck charm! GZ was a very substantial distance from the two previous GZs I'd found trying to find this. One must have been 80m away.
Could see nothing even closely resembling the clue at GZ.

I had A lot of Trouble finding it to, soI ended up putting the GPSR on the BBQ ( to get a reasonable signal)and taking a line and pacing it of I'm lucky one of my paces = 1 and useing the hint
after having to change my undies from a horrifying incident with a slippery friend (snake). after about ten minutes steelrat went in for the kill and got it . I took the travel bug out. [:o]

Nope, didn't see it. Had a lot of trouble with the co-ords, couldn't get closer than 8m, with only 11m accuracy anyway. Thought it'd be an easy run, oops. If I knew what the terrain was like I wouldn't have taken BSFjnr with me. ended up with her on the shoulders for the search (with Motorsport Freak along too),
Only saw 1 item that fitted the clue, but it wasn't it.
See the rat found it yesterday, and one of his photos doesn't look anything like the area I was searching, so I might have another run at it a bit later.

boy this one was popular today, we were the third to uncover it today, nice easy find, but the grass was a pain to walk through.

2nd cache for the day, and I had thought it would be one of the easy ones. Ha, bloody, ha.
10 minutes into the hunt, Little Miss Rat’s big toe makes friends with a big meat ant. That noise you all heard on Saturday morning was her screaming. Which was fair enough, the bugger was nearly bigger than her toe, and did not want to let go. I did the daddy thing and grabbed it and threw it as quick as I could, and watched the blood leak from her toe. A quick dash back to the car (she wouldn’t get down on the ground, there might be more bity things!), a dose of stingose and she started to quiten down. Stormin Norman and I then left the rest in the buggy and went back to the search.
Half an hour later, after sending Norm into the bush in various directions based on weak sat locks (I figured that after he saw a snake he should be the one to try and find it again), I finally tracked the little bugger down.
TNLNSL, but it was still an enjoyable hunt.
Figured out that the ghost picnic area is the remnants of a mining memorial/museum in sad disrepair.
Thanks for the fun guys.

Found at 8.00am after an overnight trip from up north with Team Yota. After leaving them in Maitland, we detoured to find this one. Found the BBQ, but the benches must already be ghosts. Also checked out the Goldminers museum while there(also a ghost). The GPS wasn't good due to the trees, but eventually found it. A good spot.

I hadn’t seen a mate at Dun’s Creek for a while so thought it was a good chance to plan a small trip north and grab a few caches on the way. This was our second stop on the way and rather than jump back on the F3 from Cooranbong we decided to take the scenic route.
Back in the ‘70’s - well before the F3 - this was the main way to join the New England Highway. I can remember stopping (or actually being woken up by Mum & Dad in the car park) at the “Oak†to grab an ice cream or milkshake late at night [^] (yep, during holidays / long weekends the nearby shop was open 24 hours) and a toilet break before heading off towards Branxton, or as our final stop on the way home to Sydney. Finding a parking place was bedlam – akin to a shopping mall at Christmas and the queues at the shop and bowsers were long. Parked here we would watch the endless stream of cars going north or south depending which end of the holiday it was…. It wasn’t hard to find a parking place today!
The F3 was the death-knell for this place. I think it would have been a gold mine to the original owners as a petrol station (there wasn’t a service station on the other side of the road then if I recall correctly) and take away food place, but the opening of the F3 must have all but killed it. I still stop here fairly regularly as I prefer to go cross country when going to Maitland or further … there’s something enjoyable about having to turn the steering wheel every now and then!
Oh, yeah … the cache. Tyler found it first. Liked the hunt – so many possible hidey holes.

Found this one before the mozzies beat me. Picked up 'Quick Games a Good Game' TB. TFTC.
only found out about this one whilst scanning the new listings here at GC. Decided it would be a good one for a night time visit, this was my 2nd for the night. An easy find if you know what to look for.

Our first FTF! An early morning email check notified us of a new cache nearby so we headed out to try our luck. We knew the exact spot having driven past many times but never stopped to check things out closer. A bit of searching uncovered the well hidden cache.
