### **OWNER MAINTENANCE REQUIRED PLEASE** ###
----------
Hi there Old Peg,
It looks like this cache might need some attention, as one or more seekers have indicated there is an issue. The cache has been temporarily disabled, so as to remove it from search listings and discourage people from visiting this location until the issues/s with this cache can be addressed.
**You do need to respond in some way within 14 days, so others know you are on top of it, as well as indicating exactly what is happening with this placement - please don't let a lack of communication scuttle this listing.**
#What should you do now:-#
You have a number of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:-
- **Check On The Cache:-** Visit the cache and repair and/or replace or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) indicating the cache has been checked and [**ENABLE your cache**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ). Then sit back and wait for the logs of praise to roll in.
- **Place A Write Note Log::-** Reviewers don't have a crystal ball, so without your note on the cache page explaining that the site works are on-going, or you have been in hospital, or the area is in flood, they can't tell what is going on with the cache.
So please just post a note to the page (within 14 days) and when a Reviewer next looks at the listing, all will be fine for a little bit longer.
**Be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it. If you have a long term unavailable cache (where you don't have an actual date) please ensure you visit the page and post a note every 4 to 6 weeks, so as to keep everyone up to speed.**
- **Adopt/Archive:-** If you don't plan on fixing it then you could consider passing it on to another geocacher by asking them to [**Adopt it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=54) or alternatively, you need to [**Archive it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56), so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.
You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of those. Well, if nothing happens, then a few weeks from today, when a Reviewer next looks at the cache page, it is likely that they will, unfortunately, have to de-list (Archive) on the basis that it has been abandoned.
Honestly, I'd rather you decide so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.
**JUST A TIP:-** Have you checked out the new Geocaching Dash Board designed to assist a Cache Owner in managing the caches they own? Have a read about it [**HERE.**](https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2020/07/welcome-to-the-cache-owner-dashboard/?newsletter=PM) You will find your very own dash board [**HERE**](https://www.geocaching.com/play/owner?utm_source=geocaching&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=COD).
Thanks for your cooperation,

With the track to Tali Karng finally reopened I thought I would stop at McFarlanes Saddle and walk across the plains on a beautiful day.
I knew where I was headed having walked here many times before. As previous cachers mentioned the cache like the hut has not survived the fire very well. The tin is still there and the plastic container is melted, both beyond repair.

This cache is pretty much destroyed and the remains should be removed as rubbish.
The tin base has rusted through completely - nothing left. The plastic section of wine skin where the log book was located is saturated. No swaps to be seen, and cache probably fire affected also.
I note a similar description of the condition of the cache was given in 2019, so it's remiss if the owner not to clean up this rubbish.
Don't put in caches unless you are prepared to maintain them please.
Despite encountering this rubbish the environment is almost pristine on the Wellington High Plains. It's clear not much walking has been done over Covid as tracks quite overgrown. Gilios Track to lake Tali Karng very overgrown, as is Rigalls Spur track.
A wonderful area.

Found this one today on a walk to Tali Karng.....well, what was left of it anyway after fires have been through he area!! The log was pretty well destroyed so we added a scrap of paper and expect that the container will be replaced or removed at some point if the hut is rebuilt as part of fire remediation works. Thanks for placing this cache here, it was a lovely, though strenuous walk
Found this one with Noonab, one of those 'triumph over bushfire adversity' stories.
Beautiful spot, the Wellington Plains are hypnotic. Thanks for the find

Found at the start of my walking for the weekend. The container blends in with all the other items in the hut. Shouldn't be too hard to find.
Spending the weekend camping in the high country with Nevil_devil at Wellington River with the goal of finding "On the way to Talli Karng" That has been sitting out a first to find for over twelve months. With our goal accomplished we turned our sight on some of the other caches in the area.
A nice little hike into this spot. We were looking everywhere for this one for quite some time both inside and out.
Once I found this little guy I could have strangled Neville_devil because 30 minutes before hand I had asked him if he had this out. His answered yep nothing there. In desperation when we were about to give up I checked it myself and found the logbook and plastic zip lock bag [:(!]NEVILLE[:(!]
Our names are finally in the log book thank you Old_Peg for the smiley

That period between Christmas and New Year has arrived and with no family commitments, I decided on a few days in the Licola area. The weather was looking fantastic, possibly even too hot, so I loaded up the Suby with every piece of camping gear I considered useful, a few nights meals and 20 litres of water. My main target was the Mystery Climb, but also the other caches along the way.
On the way home early to try and avoid the heat, but found myself applying suncream at 7.30AM. Anyway, onwards I went, stopping at this one where after some searching outside, finally located what should be an obvious find. I replaced the "Piece of paper" with a proper log book in a clip lock bag.

Found with the geowife whilst on our way to Tali Karng for the night. A nice easy find in the end. It's very encouraging to see all the undergrowth amongst the dead trees. The walk across the Wellington Plains is lovely and I thoroughly recommend walkers cross Moroka Gap and climb Mt. Wellington if it's clear. On a clear day, the views are breathtaking.

First dnf! Very disappointed. Didn't have much time looking! Will try again on the way back in a couple days!
Found while returning from the lake. We had walked in along the old Spion Kopje Tk. This track was hard to find and follow because of all the regrowth after the fires. We reached Picture Point and walked down to meet the wellington plain tk. The cache is wet with some items rusting and soggy. Tried to dry it as best we could. TFTC SL.
Found at 11:27 on our way down to Lake Tali Karng. We camped on the saddle near my car the night before, arriving just before some fog set in. It was nice to have a campfire going on such a chilly night while surrounded by fog, though unfortunately we didn't have any tea! Then we camped another night down near the lake. The cache itself was very wet inside and I was only *just* able to sign my name. Thanks Old Peg.
Joe Possum and Partner went for a cup of Irish Tea on Australia Day. Found the caddy but not the kettle. A great walk in from McFarlanes Saddle. Loved the wild flowers but not the flies. Dried the contents of the cache in the sun for a while and removed the batteries. Took the Lucky Crow TB for release at lower altitudes. Left a geocaching badge. Thanks to Old Peg for the cache and the outing.
Found on our way to riggals hut. Interesting place. Sat near the cache for a while and watched the clouds roll in over the opposite hill - very cool. TFTC.
Found by Mrs Riddell enroute to Lake Tali Karng with members of the VNPA.
It was a fairly quick find because she knew what to look for.
Who drank all the tea?
Mrs Riddell had a wonderful weekend in the high country but missed out on getting the remaining caches due to the leader taking a different route and not lingering at Lake Tali Karng long enough to get out to the falls!
Ahh..maybe next time.
TFTC and the entertainment it provided.

Found this one today after coming back down from Moroka where we placed a cache. We decided to do a quick walk out to the 'hut' and the cache was quickly found by Mrs E. Took a keyring and left a ball, bracelet and poker chip. The caddy is still in good nick as is the cache - with only a bit of condensation inside.
The walk back was a bit more exciting - with Master E taking off - and taking the wrong turn!! But he worked out the error of his ways and soon made it back to us...thankfully!

This was my second hike across Wellington Plains to Lake Tali Karng. The first time almost 2 years ago I took the family for a 3 day hike the weather was not kind that time, it rained for almost 3 days in which we took shelter in this hut on the way in & again on the way out. Back then we did not know what Geocaching was so when my son looked in the tin he found I explained it must be part of a safety network similar to what Timber Top has on some walking tracks (See attached photo)
Any way this time when I asked if any of the Geo family wanted to go to Lake Tali Karng to find some caches I had no takers, this would have to be a solo trip. Left home @ 4am arrived at McFarlane saddle carpark just after 9am and had new cache container in hand not long after and sitting right under was old container that we saw sitting in the firer place (New hide is just out side hut) dropped in new stash note small pen and some silica gel satchels
Ps big thanks to Jimmymaff [^] for getting this one back up and running
and Old Peg for having the forsight to place a cache here, may you find and hide many more caches

Cache is in good condition. Have fun seeking this and its near neighbour in a beautiful park of victoria.
Thanks to all geocachers who have kept this site under surveillance. I now have another challenge to 'knock off' that new one of Jimmymaff's nearby. Old Peg
Found this cache on the way back from a day hike into Tali Karng. New log is in good condition and pen still worked. TN L- a couple of AA batteries for the next finder. I think alls well and this cache could be back online. Cheers Jimmymaff.
Disablaed until I can return to the High Country to check it's condition. Thanks to Geocachers who have been keeping a watch on this site and those who repaired it recently. The fires have had some effect on this area. My grateful thanks to you all. Old Peg
great walk into this - not hard. my first victorian national park cache. Some one should take a shorter pen t fit into the container.
Weather was great - loved it.

Found by Tim, Pete, and Nick on the way in to Tali Karng. Some light maintenance preformed to restore it to a "cacheable" condition.
Awesome spot for a cache.
Thanks Old Peg.

Project 51
Found at 7.40pm on a warm summers night,
Was in the area and thought I would see if this one was still in existence, as it hadn't been found since 2006.
Approaching the huts I was dismayed to find only one of the two huts still standing, the other was burnt in the fires.
Luckily the GPS was pointing at the still standing hut which had sustained some fire damage but was still erect, just!!
I hunted around for a while, until I spotted something laying on the dirt floor in the open - it was the cache container, no contents, logbook or lid.
Looking around some more in a corner I spotted what looked like a notebook - all water dried and stuck together.
Carefully prising the pages apart revealed it to be the logbook.
It was dry enough to sign and I placed the logbook back in the container.
Not knowing the original location, I placed the cache - or what remained of it in the NE corner of the hut, under a rock, out of sight.
This cache really needs some maintenance - Since I was bushwalking, I couldn't carry my normal spare bits and pieces.
Not sure why it is so long between finds -
A beautiful area, despite the fires, a shortish walk from the car.
A good spot for a cache, but a new location nearby may be required as I doubt the hut will withstand too many more winter storms.
Nice one

I happened to be in the area so I decided to make a small detour and try for this rather out-of-the-way cache. I parked the car and put on a jumper AND coat since it was quite cold and windy today. After a brisk walk I arrived at the GZ and promptly started to search all the "obvious" locations. Having not found anything after half an hour and thinking about giving up, I decided to read the cache notes again, this time carefully. A few minutes later the cache was in hand. (Note to Self: IT PAYS TO READ THE NOTES)
Took: Cute Frog
Put: Rubber Ball
Thanks for the cache!

Another FTF for the Geo Busters!
We decided to do this one on the way home after an aborted attempt to visit our own cache at Lake Tali Karng.
It was a little chilly but an otherwise nice day for the short walk. There was the remains of some early season snow lying around which probably explains why it was so chilly.
When we found GZ the hide was a little...rustic...and probably in need of a bit of TLC (perhaps a woman's touch). We found the cache after a short search and only then did the name of the cache become obvious!
Took the Australia keyring, left the flexible frog.

A group of us who attended the Biggles Bear Labour Day Get Away event at Talbotville set-off to crack this cache, but due to a navigational error that put a big hole in our available time we abandoned the attempt. We were just 18 kms away at the Pinnacles - looked simple to me, but I was overruled - many times!!
