We replaced the cache today with a container of the same size and shape. The old container will be cleaned up, have a seal fitted and returned to service at our earliest convenience.
14:12The 'might', or should we say the mystery of the Macedon Ranges. We spent a great day working on changing the green icons on our map to bright smiling faces.WOW Nineteen years on the gameboard - a golden oldie, an interesting multi! **FEEDBACK TO CO:** Unfortunately the container 'O' ring is missing, the log is soaked and the container is extremely difficult to undo. Any chance of getting someone to do some maintenance? Our thanks to 'ian-and-penny' for adding this cache to the.geo-gameboard.38120*This log composed and published using Geocaching Swiss Army Knife (GSAK).*
Found easily.I found the information about early surveying interesting. Thanks for bringing me here.
Found by Flukey71. Interesting Cairn and history. Log book sheet a little damp but cache in good order.
O ring is gone from container and log is soaking wet. Even though it is waterproof my previously magic pen only managed the date then died. Otherwise an interesting cache
Thanks for bringing me up to a new place Quick and easy calculation and the find didnt take long. Not sure how well my ink will last on that special paper though. Tftc.
Not the ideal day for caching in the clouds. My kind of multi. Quick concise questions and answers and the GZ not too far from away. As noted by others the log is very wet. I had ziploc bags with me. But no point enclosing the moisture. Left a 1943 halfpenny. TFTC.
We had grabbed Eagle View and were about to leave the mountain to its rain when we realised the road went right past this one. Grabbed it easily but the logbook was soaking wetZ signed as best as we could. The write-in-the-rain paper is good but would be better in a sealed bag after drying out. No chance of that today as its drizzling. Many thanks for the cache. Jawapro from Tassie
On our way to Daylesford for a brief weekend away and came via here. Unfortunately the MT was enclosed with fog and we didn't get to see any further than about 50m! Nevertheless, caches to be found, great coords, and easily found. very wet despite RITR paper. thanks to ian-and-penny for your cache and for keeping it going for so long - love finding caches this old. Very special.regardskbucky
Continuing along with my streak and day by day Im slowly heading towards my total of 186.Half way will do it as it is getting too hard to continue on with it.There were 2 reasons for coming back up this way today and stopping in at the survey cairn, one was for this cache and two was to continue along with the geodetic survey virtual.I have up this way a couple of times lately as that what caching does to you to finding containers in the bush.Today Melbourne has put on a nice winters day and it is not too bad up the top and the view was great.A great looking cairn that would have been a fair job to build back then and so after a few pics I worked out what was required and did the maths.Good coords led me straight to the cache.Cache was a bit damp but I put my mark in the log. Thanks Ian-and-penny TFTMC.
We did exactly what the hint told us not to do and inputted the final location coordinates incorrectly! After the detour, we reassessed and found the correct location with ease. Log was not completed as it was wet inside the cache. TFTC!
I decided to go on a solo day trip out to Mt Macedon today chasing some specific cairns and picking up some other caches of interest along the way, especially those that scored me some new LGAs.My enthusiasm for this structure was barely contained as I collected the numbers and took many, many photos - just in case, of course! The coordinates were assembled before long and I was off to the final, which is unfortunately not looking too great - a bit gunky inside and not totally suitable to write on.I still tried my best and replaced it as found afterwards. Thanks to ian-and-penny for placing this cache here!
Nice easy multi. Coordinates were straightforward to collect and GZ very close. Unfortunately the cache was full of water and log book drenched. Photo for proof of find. Thanks!
My kind of multi. Quick concise questions and answers and the GZ not too far from the information board. Bit foggy today but managed to navigate my way to GZ. TFTC
We have been up to the memorial cross a few times but have never wandered over to the survey. Interesting information about the history of the site which helped us locate GZ. Searching took us longer than expected as troubles with reception left us a couple of meters away from the hide. Unfortunately, we were unable to sign the log as it was very wet inside. TFTC
What an amazing survey mark. As they day 'they dont make them like this these days'. Geocaching certainly shows you things you would never otherwise find Thanks and greeting ian-and-penny and a favourite point too
Very misty day out, eerie but beautiful.
Exciting find for partner who is a less experienced cacher.
Cache was a bit water logged - emptied water out of container, but the log is a bit smeared.
Attached is a pic, partner found the mist droplets quite pretty.
Thanks for the cache.

I had a number of plans for today's geocaching run. They included :-
20 caches in Macedon Ranges LGA.
12+ caches in Moorabool LGA.
12+ caches in Melton LGA.
CITO, Event and Tree Attribute in new LGA.
2002 old geocache.
And most importantly - Geodetic Survey Way Point.
Not sure about Melton & Moorabool LGA numbers, will have to recheck LGA borders but had a great day with 41 finds in total, in lots of different environments. Highlight would have to be Mt Macedon.
Took 2 circuits of GZ to spot. Bit wet inside but still able to log ok.
Thanks for the cache Ian and Penny

A quick find on a lovely day. The cache was in good shape. Thank you for the hide!
TwoEms went to the Gisborne Old Time Market to buy a fat pig, except we aren’t allowed to keep pet pigs at home—let alone fat ones—besides, there weren’t any there, so we bought some delicious pastries and turned ourselves into two fat pigs instead. After gorging ourselves on layers of flakey golden puffs filled with delectable goodness, we ventured further up into the hills towards Macedon Regional Park.
Soon we were quietly standing in front of a cairn and other towering contraptions, looking up and surveying the area with our sunnies and imaginary clipboards. We were quite alone when we attempted to draw trigonometrical lines in our heads from here to Mount Alexander and Warby-Ovens National Park. Luckily, working out the coordinates to ground zero was as easy as pie—much like the one we scoffed down earlier.
At ground zero, we looked in the most obvious place and then another, while finding empty drink bottles scattered and strewn about. We wondered if some delinquent muggles had found out the hide until we pulled out the prize looking safe and sound. We settled ourselves down on a nearby bench, guzzling down water and shooing the flys, all while fanning the damp log and info sheet under the sun. There were no swaps inside which was a small shame, so we dropped in a marble and soon set our sights even higher to reward ourselves with a well-deserved ice cream. Thank you for the cache.

We got a prolonged gap in the clouds for this one. It certainly is an impressive cairn. Really nice short multi. Many thanks
A nice quick little multi and the first for me above 1000m. Cache is in place and in good knick. I think its time for lunch now.
TFTC. Stopped by here on the way down from The Cross. Interesting piece of history. With the fog closing in the gps accuracy was not that good. Put the thing away and found the hide in a logical place. All god with the container and log.
Tftc, multi #6 for the day. Cache getting damp inside, but still able to stamp it. Would have been easier on a less foggy day, where GPS accuracy could've been better, but managed to sniff it out without much hassle.
Bitterly cold, well 8degrees and foggy. Whilst foraging around a cyclist casually called out to me as he rode past - I always thought cyclists are a different type of person! I like the holder, great condition as is the log. Quick run back to the car to thaw out. T4TC
A fun quick multi. Found in the second place I looked. Thank you ian-and-penny for placing and maintaining Survey This! for us to find today.

A nice and quick multi for an early start to the day!! I'm here in Woodend for a work thing so it made sense to check this area out. I'm glad I did Cache and log in great condition !!
Found in the pouring rain, some other obvious hidey-holes checked before uncovering the cache, which was thankfully a quick find. Container and contents both appear in good condition. Thanks for the cache!
Thank you for the history lesson and multi. Took me a couple of his to find as apparently I can’t read . Cache is in good order and new log book is looking good. Thanks
Took mum out for a drive, she's been cooped up in the house too long. After a stop at Woodend Bakery for a few cakes, it was up and over the Mount to stop at Camels Hump. No success in finding the cache there, so continued on down to the Cross where I found this nice quick multi. I've driven past this cairns so many times, this area being part of my old stomping grounds. Was nice to actually stop here. Still can't get over all the timber down from previous storms. Lots of cleaning up to do, unless they'll leave it as new habitat
Mt Macedon has been on my todo list for a little while now. The last time I attempted to visit here the roads were closed due to major storm damage in the area. The roads are now open (although the many fallen trees are still visible along the journey to the top).
Quite an impressive cairn stands here at the posted coordinates. Quite different to modern day markers. The cache was a quick find after calculating the coordinates using the nearby info.
Thanks ian-and-penny for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

We performed a maintenance task on this geocache today. The entire cache has been replaced with a new container and logbook.
We also left a path tag and a smiley badge.

Vinz is out and about in the fog and mist still searching for Zuul.
Maybe he can find her at the top off this great monolith, and what better point to start than the very top.
Alas the fog was so thick that you cairn hardly see the cairn....
Easy clues and accurate co-ords made locating this artifact an easy task, however it's log was very wet and Vinz required much care whilst leaving his mark.

This was a quick multi to solve. Double checked the numbers before walking the short distance to GZ. The log is still soaked but could still write with the powertank. Nice to get this older one. TFTC
So good up here when it’s cold and foggy not a soul in sight, log was a bit wet and I didn’t have a pen to sign unfortunately
Cache contained water and log book is soaked. Might need replacing. Good cache tho. Thanks
A nice little offset here today.
Intersting it is towered over by a mobile phone tower.
I could not get any reception!
Finally though I found a spot and used the info to find GZ.

End goal to today’s trip was to get to Mt Macedon Look out. However the path there is always evolving. Finding myself at 6pm still in Gisbourne, made the decision to still come up for the sunset and views.
Enjoyed solving all of the Multi a up here and haven’t been since we started geocaching. Solved all of the Multis and stunning weather and views to match. Thanks for bringing me up here this evening. Log book is still a bit damp but ok atm. TFTC!

Rather pleased to be here to see one of few amazingly well built cairns that has stood the test of time and is in such good condition. As the mist rolls in making visibly poor it’s quite spooky as no one is up here. I’m on a multi mission multi tasking! One is related to visiting some of the geodetic survey of Victoria locations, an LGA challenge and a multi challenge (aiming for the mighty far off sum of 500 multis)TFTC and the info. The log is soggy but managed to make a record.
A morning adventure to get some "me' time. I haven't been to this location for ages (clearly not since geocaching) so it was lovely to return. A glorious morning here with crisp air, blue skies and beautiful sunshine. An easy enough solve and find too. Many thanks for the cache.
We had our hearts set on some snow as we traveled up the mountain today and we got some. Very very cold and chilly but didn't put us off the chance to grab a cache or 2. Nice easy first stage then Geo-Mum spotted the cache at the WP2. Hands were freezing but still managed to sign the cache which was in good condition. Thanks for the placement up here ian and penny
After a cold trek on a misty day we decided to come to mount Macedon.
After a quick look at the map we went to the coordinates for an easy find. Map was in good condition. Placed trackable in container too

All in good order. GPS a bit all over the place but the text made it an easier find. Thanks
Mt Macedon was the choice location today as it provided some varied DT squares plus some information I needed for a further cache. Spiffy was enlisted and we packed varying tools even though they were not required. Dropped my geopartner at work and off we went.
Clues double checked and GZ was soon found.
Thanks to ian-and-penny for the placement and fun.

Found at 10:22 am.
It's been a little while since Fleabag- and I have had a short road trip and today was the day since I didn't need to be watching horses run around at the Melbourne Cup. We headed out of the city up to Mt Macedon and surrounds to find a couple of specific caches and then free style some one the way home.
It was freezing up here on arrival and was totally unprepared and with rubbish phone signal in a couple of places I headed to the top of the hill and loaded all the caches up first.
We were also here for another different cache so while Fleabag- was mucking around setting that up, I made a quick calculation and after a short walk soon had the cache in hand.
Thanks ian-and-penny for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Enjoying my visit to Mount Macedon, I stopped by here to learn a little about this cairn. The GPS didn't want to make up its mind, so my geosenses took over and I soon found the cache. Nice one, thanks!
We had been invited to take a road trip up to Macedon so took the opportunity to find a few caches whilst in the area. While a group of us stood around chatting, I found the info needed and we all walked over and signed the log. Thanks for placing this cache here.
Love finding these older caches. Thanks so much for placing it and maintaining it for so long. A nice quick find which was great as it is freezing.

Insane day to come geocashing up here, so cold it's hard to even type this but happy that I got my smiley.. between rain falls haha.. thank you for this and the survey cairn looks amazing in the fog.. the hint doesn't help at all but nice easy find once my GPS stoped jumping around. All looks to be in good order. Thank you

Having a free day and a day of relative rest before Oxfam Trailwalker next weekend, I jumped in the car with sedgwickdave headed for the continued adventures of Captain Melville. After working out where the next stage is over lunch, we decided on the nearby caches instead.
I stood in this very spot late last year, not even knowing this cache was nearby. Anyway, a simple enough multi, container also found quite quickly. The smack on the head by the tree above after returning the cache was NOT welcomed!
Many thanks to ian-and-penny for the cache. TNLN.

Heading home after a big road trip out east from the big smoke. Needing a bit of a rest I decided to go for a drive up Mt Macedon.
Wow this place was buisy today. So i picked out a couple of secluded caches to grab.
After a quick calculation I was soon onto the cache. Thakfully it was not too far of a walk. After yesterdays Mt Baw Baw trip.

Quick find at GZ after gathering necessary info. Yesterday was such a long cache day! My dog and I are still tired from all the walking we did around mt Macedon. Had never been but loved it! Thank you
A very long search, hint not very helpful with the hide, so back to the car and about to drive away when looking through previous photos helped me expand my search radius to finally find the cache hidden safely away.

Today I headed out with biggles1024 to target a few caches and also work on a project cache over at Mt. Macedon.
Having now arrived at Mount Macedon we set about continuing with our project cache and once that was done it was time to find so others in the area.
This one is certainly getting on in years so it was a must find, we read the information at the start and collected what was needed, the sums were done and now it was time for a short walk to GZ where Mark was onto the find very quickly, the log was signed and we were on our way.

**Multi Cache Find #314**
I headed out with SteMicMitSar to Mount Macedon to do some more work on a 'project' cache and also to attempt two nearby night caches.
There was no way we could pass up a 13 year old cache so we didn't. The necessary information was obtained and made for quite interesting reading. Co-ords for GZ were calculated and then a very short time later, the cache was found.

I came up here to look at the old cairn and noticed this multi here. Parked down the road in the car park and walked up. A magpie didnt want me in its nesting area and kept swooping so I picked up a gum branch with leaves off the ground and held it over my head, and he left me alone after that. Got the info, worked out the cords, and headed to the new GZ for a quick find. Signed log and returned as found. TFTC

On another caching trip today, once again in the company of Na'wal. We had set our sights on a night cache, plus a handful of other hides. Luckily the weather held out for us today and it was an enjoyable afternoon and evening.
I have seen a lot of cairns on my bush walks, but this one takes the cake !! Quite an impressive sight indeed. Worked out the sums and we were soon signing the log. TFTC ian-and-penny

With some fun family things going on in the morning, it wasn't until the later in the day that DAB and I met up to tackle some multi caches around Gisborne, Riddles Creek & Macedon Ranges. The weather was good to us to allow us to have a great day out.
We finally made our way to the top of the mountain. It was an impressive history lesson here and with numbers soon sorted, we found the cache quickly. It was a little exposed so we tucked it back better than we found it.
**Thanks to ian and penny for hiding this cache for us to find and enjoy**

Decided to go for a bit of a drive on the way home from work to pick up some caches somewhere different and found myself here. A very interesting little spot and a few cool caches ticked off today. This is my first find at >1000 meters. After a couple of minutes working out tje coordinates after a slight false start and I was on my way. Not ling afterwards I was in the logbook and on my way. Being a surveyor this one was of interest to me. the cqairn is quite striking. the day was cold and windy felt like it was about to snow at any stage never been to Mount Macedon before but it's lovely out here
I do like these things, so I stopped by while in the area. This is such a long-standing structure. The numbers were assembled without problems and the cache was found safe and sound in almost the first place I looked. Such a nice cold mountaintop, this one. I tend to forget that Mt Macedon is one of Victoria's 1km+ altitude spots, but it does look and feel distinctly alpine-y when you get up there. Thanks a lot ian-and-penny!
Found during a very scenic drive to the monument at Mt Macedon. Thanks for the cache ian-and-penny!

I was spending the weekend in the Macedon Ranges and had the opportunity to look for a few caches in and around the area. This was a simple multi. I was trying to work out why I had never seen this structure before, but then realised I usually walk into the Memorial Cross area and the path doesn't go past this... at least directly. Nice simple find at GZ. TFTC!
Mr and Mrs Parrots had to do a drive over to Melbourne to take Mrs Parrot Senior to visit her other daughter for Christmas over by Woodend.
Couldnt resist adding in another day so we could do some sightseeing and a little bit of caching in Melbourne before heading back home.

It was 2 degrees and snowing at GZ. Had grabbed the grand kids today for their first experiance of snow. They had a ball throwing snow at me. Did the GCA trig here as well. Nice easy multi and my first snow cache. Interesting info about the marker here.
Thanks **ian-and-penny**

I had today off work and had a bit of a bug to go for a walk at Macedon, despite the chilly weather.
Despite having visited Macedon many times in the past I'd never really paid much attention to this interesting monument. I enjoyed the read and finding the cache after a short walk. Watch out for the Kangaroo droppings!
I left a TB here to continue it's travels. TFTC!

After hiking a few kilometres around Mt Macedon with PacGirl and Snoopy we tackled some of the popular multis in the area.
I had been here before but never thought of looking for a cache, so today it was time to right that wrong !
After a DNF nearby due to the many Sunday muggles I headed to the cairn. Fortunately the area around GZ was quiet which allowed for a simple find after collecting the required information.
Thanks for highlighting this geo-point, Ian-and-Penny.
