This old cache has been on my to-do list for way way too long! Thankfully today I was going to be in the area again, so headed out to find it. Except, I nearly didn't find it! You need to look really really well. It isn't there. And it is no longer its namesake.RIP Brummy - I hope this cache lives on in your memory.;
Definitely wear long pants and enclosed shoes the grass and surrounds are very over grown - however was a DNF very sad. But what a beautiful place for a cache
Out with Brislions & GreenGecko1 finding some oldies after attending an earlier event.
After the events this morning, after finishing up at Upper Brookfield we headed more west side of Brisbane. To grab more oldies. We found 5 more caches. This was next on the list. Another from 2005. Cache found, signed and replace back. Brummy thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for geocaching community enjoyment.
23/8/2023 Find #6416
I decided to spend this Wednesday’s solo madness day out around this side of town. There were a few old caches of interest to me, and it was high time I did something about them.
Parking over the road in the side street, I wandered over. So much for the old dirt road my map was showing me!! Time for a grassy trek.
At GZ as soon as I found the cache I discovered a tiny microscopic tick crawling up my hand. Probably not all that surprising really. Now I wonder how many more I may have. I guarantee I will begin to think I have them on me at every itch, twinge, or grass poke now! Well the blighter on me got the flick, and with log signed, it was time to head back through all the grass and see how many more I could add to the collection of them today….
(Post-edit: I think I got the all-clear!! Phew!)
Thanks for the cache brummy.

Felt like Bear Grylls trying to get to the location but once we got there, it took a little looking (plus the help of the hint) and we finally found it! Then we realised we didn’t have a pen with us and had to go back…it was worth it haha Tftc:)
This was my target for today and the light drizzle did not deter me. The 200m walk through tall grass was also not particularly fun. Closer to the gz the grass thinned out but it was still very overgrown. I had a quick look at the obvious feature without any luck and then looked around at a few other places. Then I remembered it was a D3 cache and I should probably not be looking in the obvious spots. Reading through the logs did not help much so I went back again to make a more thorough search. I was close to giving up when I finally found something. It was not the Berocca tube I had been looking for but was very definitively a geocache. Signed the log and returned to my car by walking back across the tubes. This was actually easier than going back through all the grass. I’m happy to have found this oldie and feel justified in going to search for Berocca Gold now. Thanks Brummy, your legend lives on.
Having a drive on the less travelled road today.
We have a few target caches on the list today this oldie was one of them

After 10 days locked at home recovering from COVID-19, today I allowed myself out. During my quarantine, I had checked over my qualification for every Challenge cache in Queensland.
It turned out that I had 499 required caches out of 500 for https://coord.info/GC93AR5 Queensland's oldest 1000 caches challenge.
A quick search identified two Brummy caches, which would fit the bill nicely. This was the first. I parked nearby and then bashed through head high summer grasses until I found the track near the cache. The return journey on the track was a lot easier with only 50 m of tall grasses.
A quick find. RIP Brummy.

Was in the area collecting a target cache and noticed this oldie nearby so headed here next. Parked in a nearby st then walked the rest of the way. Found the geotrail that led to GZ and quickly found the cache. All good here, tftc brummy

Knowing my route today this oldie became a must do…
My initial parking spot was a poor choice so I moved LeDeVine onto Moledina Crescent and walked back to the cache… once at GZ it was a quick find… knowing that this CO is no longer with us makes this find more poignant… tftc…

I was in the area today so called in to find this oldie. The walk was quite short and the geotrail to gz was well worn. Name added and then back to the aircon in the car. Tftc!
After finding a number of caches in the Moggill Conservation Park, I headed to this one as it was not far. I parked in Moledina Crescent and ran across the road without any problem. A short walk along the track and cache found easily in good condition, though as previously mentioned by another, the log paper is slightly damp but still able to sign. Tftc brummy.

Today, I joined karicka in a morning hike in the Dandy Ranges, walking past part of Lake Manchester. It was a nippy morning that got warm, with a number of steep hills walked up and down. After lunch, jesswrigley and I headed to the northern suburbs, where we stopped off at Strathpine, Leis Park, Petrie and Old Petrie Town, and completed the *The North Pine Heritage Trail* Adventure Lab. We ended up running out time exploring Old Petrie Town, so another trip to be scheduled no doubt.
This was a sort of oldie geocache hidden in 12/2005, and one of Queensland's 500 oldest, so it was worthy in making a stop for this find. I wish the parking waypoint had been attached to this geocache, and so only saw the suggested parking noted in the hint upon parking at the gate. I actually thought that I could have driven right to GZ. Consequently, I made the walk along the path, and found a geotrail taking me to GZ (not realising that a few Geocachers had visited here yesterday). It took a little time in making the find, but otherwise no issues. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, although the waterproof logbook was damp, and I suspect my stamp won't last on this paper. There was no bonus number to be found either, so I suspect that it is no longer applicable anyway given the age? Thanks brummy for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

With a couple of days free to cache and a new kayak to try out, a plan was set with Team Tyrrell and Nayfee. We were going to hit Lake Manchester via kayaks, then overnight camping stay at Wivenhoe. Then in the morning, a quick paddle around Wivenhoe before heading home to our pre-organised afternoon/evening events.
As usual it was a fun filled time; we grabbed our target caches as well as a few as we passed by. “There’s always time for one more cache” seemed to be the theme for the trip, lol. The highlight of the trip was our campsite and one we didn’t want to leave. A very nice view, a curry and a bottle of port for dinner, some stories and laughs around a well maintained campfire, neither of us really wanted to leave.
This one we grabbed on our way to our meeting point, seeing it has made it to a couple of challenge lists, seemed silly not to grab it as we were passing. A short walk from our parking area and the find was made, with log signed and cache replaced as found we were off. Thanks for placing this one here.

Chamad and I are on our way to Lake Manchester to meet up with Team Tyrrell for a day of caching on the water. We noticed this old cache nearby and considering we’re driving right past it, it would be silly not to stop by and grab it. We pulled over on the side street and wandered across the road, the walk to GZ was a little iffy with all the long grass and tricky rocks to be navigate around, however we eventually made it through and had the cache in hand after a quick search. While at GZ we admired the stunning view towards the south with Flinders Peak sitting in the distance and the surrounding area smothered in fog. Beautiful! Thanks for giving us a reason to visit.

Walking through the waist high grass after rain wasn’t the best idea but made a quick find and enjoyed the views from GZ. Thanks for the cache
A plan was hatched with Slow Puncture to go caching, how this came about was useless us having no
idea how to get to an ‘oldie’ cache we were after, last time we tried cows had escaped and Old
MacDonald was out patrolling the dirt roads questioning everyone he came across, which was just
us, so we were out of there before he could pitch fork us.
We had a plan to start at a reasonable time of 7:30am, well that was until we worked out that Slow
Puncture loves the crack of dawn! They rang through and suggested we started at 5am to beat the
heat and since we were drinking up at the pub, we thought that was a great idea too…until 5am in
the morning and they are on our driveway ready to pick us up. First stop was breakfast, this is why
we love caching with the SP’s!
Arriving at our target cache for the day, well ours not theirs, they had already done it, we saw their
willingness to break the law, no “Keep Out’, ‘Private Property’, ‘No Trespassing’ signs were going to
keep them out, so this is how the professionals roll. Over the paddocks we went, no terrain was a
problem, Mr SP had bought a Jeep. On our walk to the cache there was lots of talk of perty mouths
and squealing pigs and is that a banjo that we hear. Arriving at GZ we marvelled at such a
spectacular spot before grabbing the oldie.
The rest of the day was spent driving through the haze of smoke picking up caches, eating steak
sandwiches and the boys hanging out in the love shack…together!
Spectacular day as always with the Sp’s!

Saturday. Well, what can I say, nothing really. We’d been here previously (obviously some time ago). Whether or not we found it, we couldn’t remember, but Mr SP definitely knew where the cache was - led us through the bush right to it from memory, so we must have inadvertently missed logging this one, we estimate about 5-6 years ago. [xx(] No mistake with that now though, and happily rectified. Another oldie claimed today for us . Funnily enough, our arrows had us straight into the rampant lantana here. With a new direction, we soon had our way to GZ missing all the lantana, but having found a some spikey vines instead
This was the 11th of 12 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***brummy***, for showing us this place.

Out hunting a few oldie caches for a personal challenge, and today I am here. Didn't notice the intelligent parking directions, but found my own spot and thankfully little traffic to kill me before I was at GZ. No issues finding this Berocca tube.
Thanks brummy for entertaining me at this location.

It has been a while since we had a look for this cache. In the meantime we drove past hundreds of times, reluctant to dodge the cars and wade through the long grass. Today I bit the bullet and scribbled our name in the logbook.
Driving back to the Kenmore tavern for lunch followed by a spin through Aldi, we stopped for the "just one more" cache. It can be a bit of a dodgy road to cross and with some battle-wearied legs I wasn't up for a run. Maybe a bump from a car would have gotten me closer to GZ.
It was an easy walk from the start of the trail up to the cache and with a big obvious feature in front of us we assumed it would be quick but we couldn't spot it. We jumped to the hint which said it was here and so my wife joined in the fracas. She soon uncovered the hide and so I took on the role of malingerer to misplace any lost trust Mrs Woodyrothwell had in me.
With our stamp in the log we headed off to the busiest car park in the universe. After spending close to 20 minutes just trying to get in and out of the place we ended up with a spot in front of First Choice. This day is looking brighter all the time. tftc

There was a few reasons I was keen to find this geocache today. The biggest motivation was I needed a quiet day out and it's another date for my latest calendar based personal challenge. Even though I spent the day working and dealing with people, I did get out late in the afternoon.
Recently my enthusiasm for geocaching has waned. A quick look at my stats shows that. But I've still got the love for older hides, really anything pre-2010 gets me feeling all excited and pre-2006 puts it in the oldest 500 of Queensland. And brummy hides are sadly not increasing in numbers anymore, but I always enjoy them. So much so, apparently I'm savouring them. Unfortunately this is the last of brummy's hides left for me to find. Additional to that I also enjoy an unloved geocache. A full twelve months is nice, but four days shy of a year makes me happy - just like this one!
Lastly, I believe I had visited this geocache before but failed to find it. And apparently failed to log the DNF. Naughty! At best guess that was sometime in July 2016. And it's bad form to leave those nemesis geocaches alone! With that making seven good reasons to grab this geocache, it was going to happen this afternoon. A thanks to igotahunch for just replacing this one! It sure needs it and I endorse the decision!
After an hour long drive to get to the parking co-ordinates, I set off across the road. The setting sun shining down the hill made that slightly frightening, but obviously, I didn't get bulldozed by a flying truck or Tesla Model S or anything. I was somewhat worried about the track being overgrown and chock full of snakes and ticks.
Somewhat overgrown, sure, but basically just grass. But nothing slithery, toothy or otherwise worrisome was seen!I slowly made my way along the pipeline, then onto the tube on the right and then up the hill. Last visit I believe I bush bashed direct from the road, as I now recognised the final area. My phone pointed to a place I definitely knew so I headed over to commence my hunt.
What a hunt it was too. I wound up on my hands and knees shining a phone torch into the depths, I poked and prodded with a stick and even a few times walked away to check other locations. In the end, after about 15 minutes I spotted the geocache in the grass slightly downhill. Completely exposed and obviously knocked from a more secure location by likely some wildlife, I grabbed it. Inside was unfortunately wet, despite being made by decent materials but I managed my name in the logbook and replaced in a drier, safer location.
My hope would be it doesn't have to wait another year before the next finder. I think the fact no more than 200m of shin high grass is all that keeps this GZ from the road shows the group mentality of geocachers in recent years. "Can't grab it from a concrete path? Guess we're not finding it then!"
On my way back I took my time once more, enjoying the surrounds and again taking the tube to the right. I was watched closely by a resident near my car - probably don't get a lot of walkers passing by a cul-de-sac I guess! I'm so very glad I've found this geocache now. Thanks for placing it all those years ago, and rest in peace brummy

Heard this one had been revived and today happened to be nearby so thought I'd check it out. As with my earlier visit it was a short walk through some long grass but fortunately the 'bridge is still there so I took the high road and was soon at GZ. A search turned up a nice replacement for the original and I was happy to sign in. Thanks to the CO for the original set up and igotahunch for the return. Not into munzee but I couldn't pass up the viking, (I often brag about my viking heritage). Thanks for the fun walk.
OK, here's the deal. After checking every place I could then checking the previous posts I realised the cache is gone. So we don't archive another important cache I donated an old hag cache tube she had given me after she left caching. I know brummy can no longer look after the caches so it's up to us to help. There is a 2nd to find prize (munzee stickers and a Viking (yes a Viking,) good luck. It is not a berroca tube but close enough.
Had the same experience as the TrickyT two logs back. Found a very likely hide (similar to Western and Bamboo) but no cache...
While my son was on a Scouts hike I decided to take the opportunity and do some caches in the area. On the way I tripped and hurt my foot. Ouch! It took me a little while but eventually found the cache. I signed the log but couldn't find any clues. TFTC!
Passing by here and thought a little wander in the scrub might be nice this morning. Easy trail to follow, though the grass was quite long in places and so there was much foot stamping to warn of any slippery critters. Even thought that perhaps I should have taken the 'high road'. Soon at GZ and a bit of scratching about turned up the hide , I think, but no cache. Happy to find a replacement but don't have the clue to include. I'll keep watch and see what transpires.
Having not long ago completed the final for this series, I decided to make a concerted effort to get the final few. Today i came by here on the way to a more dastardly hide at Lake Manchester. Fortunately this one was a quick find. Thanks for the cache and upkeep OB's.
To anyone who knows me the attached photo will blow them away! Even though there was another option I took the more difficult route!
To anyone who knows me the attached photo will blow them away! Even though there was another option I took the more difficult route!
I really wasn't sure whether this one was still here but decided to check it out while I was in the area as I want the final for next month's September challenge.
I took the gps and made my way to gz but all I found was an old pen. I'd left my phone in the car so I couldn't check the hint or previous logs again. I didn't think it was in the right place but couldn't find anything else so I headed back to the car. I had another look at the information on the phone and decided to go back for another look.
The weather took a major change while I was walking back from the car again (seriously, where did those black clouds come from so fast?!). I widened my search area but still had no luck. I used a paf to get some help and spent some more time scratching around with still nothing to show for my efforts. I used another paf and this time got a photo of where the cache was meant to be. I was definitely in the right spot and was sure it was gone. However I just couldn't imagine how it could disappear without a trace and refused to give up. My persistence paid off and eventually I spotted what I was looking for. Pulled it out and very happily added my name to the log. After replacing it I then did some repairs to the area I'd been searching (I'd searched REALLY thoroughly!).
The cache is back the way it's meant to be and all ready for the next finder.
Unfortunately there's just a trace of blue ink on the lid so no information to be gained for the final.

A chilly start to a day of caching. Arrived just as the sun was rising and the car temperature reading was showing 2 degrees. Thankfully no wind about so it was quite comfortable. A short walk over to GZ and only took a short hunt as I have found a few of these now and know what type of hide to look for. Another in the series ticked off.
Parked in bunya st and braved the road and then the long grass to gz. It took a little scratching around but got it in the end. Log a little wet but signable. Tftc
I have looked at this series many times over the last couple of years and have wanted to complete the series. I have been to Berocca Kholo, Bamboo Raft, Western today and now to this one Berocca Tubes.
We parked across the way and made our way in up the hill.
Geopartner took to the tubes and I took the low road and we met up together to go the last bit. We found GZ and then the hunt was on. Looked everywhere.
In the end, I PAF and asked for a hint. Ok. Get to work again and look. No luck.
Geopartner kept saying you won't find it but I am like a dog with a bone and kept at it.
It had to be here. Bingo, I found it.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks brummy All good with this cache Thanks PAF also

Geopartner kept saying you won't find it but I am like a dog with a bone and kept at it.
It had to be here. Bingo, I found it.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks brummy All good with this cache Thanks PAF also
After all the discussion about this series yesterday on facebook, I figured I'd get my act together and try to complete what was still available. I've done Bamboo Raft, Kholo and Western before, and got Gold earlier today, so I took the drive out to finish the lot with Tubes.
I found parking in Moledina Crescent, then ducked across the road and followed the path up the hill. Ahhh, those must be the Tubes I had lots of fun walking across the top, then took a slight deviation to GZ. A couple of great hiding spots here, but maybe I should look for... yep, there's the cache [^] This one is in pretty good nick, and I could even see the original clues Very glad to get the series done at last. TFTC, brummy. RIP.

Parked at the recommended co-ords, and with a geokid on each of our shoulders made our way up and down and up the track to GZ. After a while searching we decided to check back through previous logs, and looked again. It was only when we were about to give up that the cache revealed itself, talk about timing. It was only then, when we went to sign the log that I discovered putting a pen through your ponytail, then putting a geokid on your shoulders is not a good idea, as my write in the rain pen was gone. Looks like a trip to officeworks is next on the agenda ..... just need to buy these things by the boxful.
thanks for the cache
thanks for the cache
Parked a little way off, crossed the road and started following the compass. When the grass was over my head I decided that maybe this wasn't like the 'Bear Hunt' and I could actually go round it. So a little detour around and I was soon on a much better path (being an actual path qualified it for that).
As I got closer to GZ my phone was trying to convince me to jump off the edge of the bank. Well I waited a little for it to get that notion out of its system. Then it started indicating another location. This looked too promising. A stump, a hollow log... this didn't ring true with the other Beroccas and I looked a little more till I spotted the signs of something a little too well hidden.
Signed up and replaced the cover and was on my way.
I reflected for a moment on how Brummy still has a presence even though he is no longer with us. I guess being close to where Allison was found was on my mind.

Found a good parking spot and headed in. GPS was a bit jumpy at GZ. Looked here and there. There and here. Then there it is
Got to GZ and noted that this had not been found for ages. Noted the clue and the logs. But clearly GZ has changed since the last found. Lots of fauna and bindy ivy weedy stuff all over the ground. Dug and scratched around like mad. Finally PAF and Teamtinda came to meet me. He could not see it either, the GZ had totally changed and nature has taken over. Stretched the search area nearer to the track - found an object covering the cache which was covered by the weeds and - bingo - there it was! Log was soaking wet. So I have taken the old logs for safekeeping since the CO is no sadly no longer with us. Placed a new bag and log paper in and covered up the cache in a similar fashion the others are hidden. TFTC Brummy - this one is still going!
Good cache, I had a better plastic bag so I replaced the one which was there, which was looking well worn.
The last before we tackle the final cache in this series.
After a short search I soon spotted the tell tale signs and unearthed the tune from the holder. With the log signed and quick pick for the album I tucked it back in place.

Argh cant believe i couldnt find it! I know i am only new to this but this one really hurt...I know i had the right spot given it really fit the clue. I looked up, i looked down, i lay down, climbed up, stood back, dug, read logs, researched, shone torches, scraped bark, looked for what didnt fit and did conversions! But then i do have girl eyes so i am restricted to the girl look as discussed in earlier logs! Seriously though, this one will be my achilles til i figure it out... On the upside i learnt a lot about my compass app that i didnt know tho, and also what paf means and lots of other useful things! TFTH Brummy, a real legacy...
On my way home from Toowoomba today. This is the last find before home. A lovely walk over the pipes Practice for a nearby cache maybe?
Took awhile to find but I did find it. Thanks for the cache. All dry inside.

Out on caching hike with Agowyd picking up several in the area which included a beaut walk through Brisbane Forest Park. Interesting place at Berrocca Tubes along one of the major water supply pipelines to Brisbane and it has a great view over the plains and river.
Log very wet and un-signable. Pulled out and lay it in the sun for a few hours and came back to relocate and sign. All dry but needs maintenance and a new zip-lock bag to waterproof.

Finally made it up here to continue the Berocca series. Parking is rather tricky and requires an abrupt stop, but can be done. Nice walk over. Being used to the series, I was lucky to find the cache without too much trouble when I spotted something a bit unusual. Log bag seemed wetter on the inside than out, so I flipped it around. Log is certainly damp but could be written on carefully. Let's all look after it.
It was dark by the time we arrived at this one, and a quick conflab as to if we would do it or not. The only answer when it comes to a cache is YES. Grabbed the torches and off we went. We did one of the berocca tubes a few years ago not realising that they should be done in one day, does this exclude us from grabbing gold? TFTC
Nice easy find after hitting the Tyamolum one. signed log, althou it does need replacing it was very very wet. GZ is in good condition thou. Dropped in a Trackable
Interesting area. Had fun walking over the tubes and the cache was spotted safe and sound (although not quickly). Thanks brummy
Lokipagan and I were not sure if this one was flood-affected or not. But apparently not We searched high and low with no luck. We used the PAF option and Loki soon had the cache in her hot little hand. The cache is in relatively good condition. Unlike Loki, I neglected to walk accross the tubes TFTC
found at 1330Hrs with bluegonz. Log is saturated and cannot be written on. Needs maintenance. Good hide though.
Thanks brummy
Thanks brummy
Well I have found the final cache in this series a while ago, and back then this cache was missing. So today I thought it would be good to grab this one as I was passing by. The geosons had a great time playing around the tubes and the cache was a quick find.
The log book is very damp though and will probably need to be replaced.
Thanks for the cache

TFTC. Oops!!! I only just read the rules. This one was just on the way to my sister's house. (from my other sister's house)
I will attempt the others when I get a chance and I am back in Brisvegas.

Found fairly easily. Log has been damp but was quite good and seems to be mostly dryed out, we aired it a little whilst there. TFTC.
found with manic wombat
Nice easy find. Good spot overlooking the river. Good views across the river. Large amount of traffic on the road and hard to find a spot to park. Still a fun day out caching.

Found this second in the series, TFTC. What a great view. Cache was not covered at all so we replaced to where it belongs.
Found this one today whilst in the area doing a house inspection.
Log book is fairly damp.

I thought I would have to hike to this one but found a very convenient little plarking spot close to GZ. Wanderred up the hill and spotted the container as I almost stepped over it.
Cheers

First find for the day and our second in the series ,Sorry can't find all 7 in the one day ,too old to be racing around at lighting speed in our old age.
Found it yay, signed log cache in good condition but had to dry the log out for a few minutes but all good, back in bag and placed back. TFTC
Found at 9.30am. Glad to see this one back on the board. I actually completed this series without the help of this cache last year. Found easily. TFTC
After conquering "the Mexican" yesterday but taking most of the day to find it I decided to have a go at this series. Left my daughters house at Mt Crosby around 0740 and arrived in the car park at kholo gardens around 0755.
Found this cache quite easilly at 0825. Good hide. Going to do these in order; Kholo,Tubes,The Ferryman,Bamboo Raft, Western,Pilly then hopefully I'll have the correct Co Ordinates for Gold. Parked the cart on the edge of the road that leads to the Scout Camp and a short little walk across the road and up the Pipes and found GZ quite easilly. TFTC.

Found in good condition. I was pleasently surpised by a passing Swamp Wallaby (positively ID'd with the Wildlife of Greater Brisbane guide).
I found the container lying on the ground so I did some repair work to restore it to it's former glory. Nice views to the South from here. Take care crossing the road from the parking area, its a 100k/hr speed zone. Thanks for getting me to another nice spot Brummy.
Thanks to Ozibags for taking his vitamins and getting the Berocca series up and running again!
After 4 DNFs and a fair bit of new undergrowth, this cache might benefit from a visit to check if it is still there.
Looking forward to doing the series.

Another DNF.
Had a fun time walking over the water pipe until my fear of heights kicked in, which made it all the more adventurous.
Got to GZ, and like the previous cachers, was unable to find it. There's plenty of fallen bark and new undergrowth around GZ, so it may be buried. Either that, or I have cache-blindness. The rocks that I did find had nothing under them other than dirt.
Perhaps another day...

Searched high and low for this one but no sign anywhere. Found the tree and stump but alas nothing else.
The first and only DNF for the day. I spent about half an hour scraping around the bush looking for the cache as I had found the other Berocca ones without any problems however today was not my day.
Found by Sunshine Toledo and Jinga at 12:40pm. We found the cache about 3 metres out from GZ. It looked like a bush turkey had scraped out the whole area. We put it back where we thought it was supposed to be but we could not be sure. The cache itself is fine. TFTC
Second in the series, piloted by our L-plate driver out for some practice. Always wondered what it was like over this side of the road. TFTC. Log a bit damp but usable.
