While camping at Girraween, Mr and Mrs Herbz, Goldielover and Stairman, Bennyboppers and myself decided to walk to this cache. A quick easy find. TFTC!
GreenGecko1 and I decided Girraween National park was our next group of caches to grab that were over 1000m for a challenge. Plus of course we drag Muggle65 along. So day three, we had four caches on the list today. We walked about 12km today. I am really glad that we made the trip to Girraween National Park it is a very beautiful Park with top camping grounds. What a beautiful area, plus the lake would be lovely place to swim. After finishing the earthcache. We headed to this oldie. It was beautiful walk pass the lake. When we got to GZ the cache was found and sign and then replace back.Culture50 thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for geocaching community enjoyment.
Our first cache today, followed the suggested directions and found a cache at the top. The terrain is relatively easy in comparison to nearly every other altitude caches. The next easiest was Potters Pond in Utah which is twice as high as this one.
Down in Girraween for the weekend with the plan to finish off the EC in the area, Underground creek was the first target.
In the company of Davidwazza and Wayn0, we checked out the underground creek and then headed off in search of the hidden temple.
We followed the track to get as close as possible and then headed into the bush. The temple was really impressive to find with really cool rock formations. Definitely a place we wouldn’t have known about without caching, well worth the visit.

This weekend, an overnighter at Girraween National Park was planned with the aim to tackle Mount Norman. An early start on Saturday had me attend Warwick parkrun and visit Warwick, Leslie Dam, Stanthorpe, and then Girraweeen to walk to Underground Creek. On Sunday, it was a walk/hike through Girraween's south vicinity visiting Mount Norman, Castle Rock, and Turtle Rock, before venturing across the NSW border, and then heading northwards via Ballandean and Stanthorpe, detouring past the *Elementary* series and *Stan's Apple* series.
Today, my plan was starting out the day with Warwick parkrun at 07:00 hr, and subsequent geocaching within the Warwick area. I also visited Leslie Dam which was a nice picnic spot, before then detouring back through Warwick for a late breakfast, and continued my onwards journey south along the New England Highway to Stanthorpe. I found a few of the *Snow Flakes* granite geocaches, partially conducted the *Fruit Run*, drove east past Stanthorpe Airport finding some of the *Stan's Apple* geoart, before then visiting Mt Marley and Quart Pot Creek. We then took a late afternoon walk in Girraween National Park to Underground Creek, before establishing our campsite for the night.
Davinells, wayn0 and I set out on this walk departing from the trailhead just after 16:20 hr, and we ended up walking a total distance of 5.8 km across an elevation of 106 m, with a moving time of 1:25 hr, as per my [Strava record](https://www.strava.com/activities/8506094586). We did take our time on the walk admiring Girraween's beauty, so we were probably back at our cars just before 18:00 hr.
After visiting Underground Creek, we extended our walk up to this temple to grab this cache. What a hidden delight that this area was, and I was in awe of seeing the different granite outcrops of varying heights standing tall. We eventually ascended and made it up to GZ, where the cache was found. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks culture50 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 12/2005 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 500 oldest yet active geocaches.

Time for a weekend of granite goodness. The main goal was the summit of Mount Norman but that was tomorrow. Today we ventured out to a different section of this wonderful National Park and found this cache. A great place to be with great company. Thanks for the cache.
Cheers

Today we rode the creek and peak tracks so that we could walk up to Mt Norman from the south side. Once that was done we headed to the underwater creek where I thought I would do the cache from. After I started off I crossed where we had ridden this morning, if only I had looked at it then. Oh well I continued on placing a couple of waypoints on the way to make the return trip easier. I was climbing up one rock close to gz when I thought I would reread the description. No need to go up I just need to go around this boulder and there was the cache.
Thanks for placing

Another find on Peppa and PirateLinda's Brisbane to Stanthorpe Jaunt.
I opted for the sleep-in this morning while Peppa, Beardman75, willis007 and chamad set off at an ungodly hour an 0°?? to tackle Castle Rock and The Sphinx.
At a much more leisurely hour I met up with everyone at Dr Roberts carpark (after collecting the 'geokids' - abeck58, Catboy67, Bella and a couple of muggle mates after their night of camping at Glen Aplin brrrr??).
We all walked into Underground Creek and had a lovely explore. The water was rapidly flowing through all the nooks and crannies.
After a quick discussion all agreed to head up to Aztec Temple (apparently Peppa would have been more than happy to not walk another couple of km's up and back to grab this one - but I missed that in translation ??).
The top side of Underground Creek was just as impressive as the lower side.
The group all headed up the slope towards the cache with the final rocky outcrop thwarting just a few of us??.
Another lovely area of Girraween to bring us to????
A favourite point from me for such an amazing area to explore.

Peppa, Chamad, Willis007 and I were joined by PirateLinda, here sons and their friends for the walk to Underground Creek for the earthcache. After admiring the formations there, we headed further in to find this cache in another amazing spot with great formations. Thanks for the cache
PirateLinda and I have come down for Beardman75’s Catch-up in Stanthorpe event tonight… Apparently people come here in the middle of winter… for fun… Being our only full day in town, it’s all about Girraween…
A plan was hatched, Beardman75 was picking me up at 0 degrees, then we’d meet Willis007 and chamad at 0 degrees and hike into Castle Rock and The Sphinx at 1 degree… 8.25km for 302m elevation over 2 hours…
Later meeting PirateLinda, abeck58, Catboy67, Bella and a couple of young things at 9 degrees to hike Underground Creek…. 5.84km for 108m elevation over 1.5 hours…
I knew this cache was here… but I didn’t think we were going after it…. While at the end of the formed trail I discovered I was the only person who thought this… so here we are…
This was a enjoyable hike in with great company…

A rough plan to walk a couple of caches in Girraween was set. The meet time was at 8am and the plan was to walk to castle rock and do a few of the waypoints to an earth cache in the area.
This meant that Willis007 and I had to leave Brisbane at 4am to make the meet on time and on the coldest day of the year so far. It was 10 degrees when we left home, we knew this was going to change as we went along and got over the pass. As the drive went along, we watched the temperature gauge drop and drop, OH MY Goodness -4 at one point of the drive. However, that did not stop us, there are caches in them there hills.
As we drove along the highway and as the sun was coming up, it was very interesting to see the very heavy frost on the ground and on buildings, frost gees that’s ice. We made it to the meet up and were soon greeted with Peppa and Beardman 75 and with very cold enthusiasm, we started our walk. OH, I think it was around 1 degree by now lol.
Our quest for this earth cache sent us to another parking area, we were soon met by another group of cachers for this walk. Continuing our walk and collecting pieces for the earth cache, we saw this one was just 700 mtrs away from our last point. Yeah it is just seven football fields. We walked and walked, over and through some amazing countryside, a creek up here, how? Just 700 mtrs away and we found the cache where uncle peppa read out stories from the good log. Then we had that 700 mtr walk back. Awesome to get a very old cache and see it is still available for signing.

A great day out in Girraween National Park with chamad, Peppa, and Beardman75. The main focus was to visit some of the waypoints for the earthcache in the area, and to attend the event in the evening.
Of course, there are always plenty of caches to visit while in the area, we made sure we made the most of the beautiful day. A fun climb to gz after visiting the nearby underground creek.
Peppa made the find here, it was great to see the original log book still in place.
Thanks culture50 for bringing us here a FP from me.

After visiting the underground caves, we headed to this one. We too almost made it a T5 but thought I’d check around the corner and there it was. Tftc
This arvo we walked to Underground Ck again and followed the Peak Track from there till it was time for us to leave the track and head on up. What fantastic countryside! We enjoyed our walk up through the huge boulders as we went. As we closed in on GZ, one of us went high and the other low... and pretty soon one of us found the cache
What a surprise to see some muggles had also found it last month. How can anyone ‘accidentally find’ this cache? Well they did and they signed the log.
Saw 2 dingoes as we walked too. They were about 30m from us at first. Then we watched them through our binoculars as they made their way off into the distance across the granite slabs and boulders. They didn’t seem to be interested in us at all but we’re sure they knew we were there with out talking and heavy boots. They must’ve heard us.
Anyway, all is good with your cache. Thanks for placing it. Favourite Point from us.

After hold a community celebration event at the day use area, myself and Kungfuchickendingo arrive at the car park and set off, with fellow cachers just behind us. We were all after the information at underground creek for the Earth cache and the other group left and got a GA cache.
We left them and travel to Aztec. Hike up and a bit of a scramble up we made a quick find. I left a mini chess game and a jigsaw puzzle game.
Interesting rock formation

I was blessed enough to spend the weekend away, caching and camping in Texas, Stanthorpe, Girraween and Toowoomba. The weather and company were perfect. Not so the loud and obnoxious teenagers camping next door! That aside, it was a fabulous weekend.
Arriving at Girraween, this was on the must-do list. After driving around for a while, we snagged a park, and start on down the path. How amazing! Even before the Underground Creek, I was besotted with the views, and the tranquality.
My fitness is not what it used to be, so I struggled to the top. But I am so glad I did, because the views just kept getting better. And you can imagine my excitement to find another of Queensland's oldest 500 geocaches, and this one with an ORIGINAL LOG!
FP worthy for sure. This is a must visit location. Just stunning.

Out with Mrs CF today for a drive and a walk through the area. We headed up to the underground stream and enjoyed looking around the rocks and the pool above. Mr CF then headed up to make the find. The service road now seems to be a bike route through the area - although it didn't head in the right direction for long. A short cross country walk brought me to this hiden spectacular area. I enjoyed the work of the Aztecs before making a quick find at GZ. I then headed back down (more of a zig-zag) and we continued on our way. Thanks for placing this great cache - a definite favourite from me.
A great walk in via the underground stream then an easy climb up to GZ.
Thanks to the CO for taking us to a new area.

Day 2 of my mini Girraween escape and this morning, the bush is full of brass monkeys. The thermometer in the car was registering -3 degrees when I set off from the trail head a bit after 7 am.
A quick visit to the swimming hole (no swimming this morning) before I doubled back and headed to Underground Creek and Wave Rock.
After exploring here, I stomped off track up the hill to the Temple. I spent a good hour wandering around the rock formations at the top. Lots of bush walkers obviously know about this cache, as there are quite a lot of names in the logbook not registered online. The only slight disappointment was that there were not great views from the top.
On my return to the car, I noticed the ice in the rock pools near Wave Rock had melted. Time to take the fleece off!
Rescued some trackables which have been here for a while.
Many thanks Culture 50

I’d been itching for another walk amongst the granite, and since I had today off work I was going to make it happen. A little bit of rain around, and a touch of winter in the air made for a nice day. As I got closer to the National Park I could see that this place had been torched with flame very recently. Black soot, and trees covered in ash. They have already started to recover, with green shoots – and fresh grass was just emerging. You really could see just how much granite is in this area once the vegetation has been removed.
Being Easter weekend, I was expecting a crowd at the campgrounds, and I was right. They were booked out. I knew this area of the park doesn’t get as many visitors, so that’s why it was chosen as today's cache. Parked the car and checked out the waterhole, before backtracking and looking at Wave Rock and the Underground Creek. Such a beautiful spot in the park – probably my favourite. Then around the side and up on top. Explored here for a while and was wishing it had been warmer to jump in the swimming hole. I made my own way up to the Aztec Temple. The bushfire had made navigation very easy.
I scrambled around the rocks, and like lots of others was looking too high to start off with. Then I found the stash – and it is in perfect condition. There was evidence of fire only one meter from it’s hiding spot, yet it sat there and didn’t suffer any damage while the fire raged through. That’s bloody amazing. I had a swag of travel bugs with me, this looked like a great spot to unload them. I sat and read the logs in the notebook and added my own, then returned everything as it should be. Lunch was at the swimming hole on the way back. Came across a few other walkers as I headed back, but they were staying on the path – missing all the fun!
Fantastic stash, thanks so much for hiding it Culture50!

This was my last cache to find in The Girraween National Park. We set of early in the morning and parked at the day use area for the underground creek and after climbing through the boulders in the creek when came out on a large granite slab with some interesting geological features.
We came across and old road and headed along that until we had to leave the track and head upward. I was with Dora the Explorer! who had been here previously and had advised where I needed to look.
She just sat in the shade and let me search for the cache and eventually I had it in hand.
All is good with this cache.

I am in the region to have New Years Eve at Girraween while camping with a few friends and to find a few caches and to earn a souvenir or two while here.
After a big night we made our way out to this one as our first cache for 2018. [^]
Found the cache after a short search.
Thanks for the cache.

Camping down south with friends for a bit of nice scenery and to find a few caches and earn the Old Year and New Year souvenirs. We managed to dodge the nasty storm cells that passed through the region and found a number of caches, mainly from my 'to do' list.
Surprisingly I was awake as the clock ticked over to 2018, but it was only about ten seconds later that snores echoed through the campsite. Waking to crazy bird and creature sounds, we set off for a wander to find this cache. What a lovely, lovely place this is! Happily, the cache was found fairly quickly once in the general area of GZ (my phone was all but laughing at me up in these rocks), and I gladly added my name to the log book and sat to read previous logs and get my breath back. Then the downhill part... yay!
Thanks for this cache, culture50, it gets a favourite point from me... and Happy New Year!

We have bush walked in the national park for more years than we care to admit and have often been to the Aztec Temples so it was a good reason to return to do a bit of caching. Thanks culture50.
It was a lovely but cold walk to this one but we soon warmed up. A great area for a cache TFTC
Out with the LLJs and Ms Wig to find this one, Mr LLJ shared an FTF on this one in 2006!! but was happy to do it again. I started this walk with trousers, singlet, shirt jumper, scarf and a beenie and I was still cold!! by the time we got to undercreek falls I was down to just the trousers and singlet!!
After exploring here for quite some time we headed off close to the rock, across a dirt road and up towards some large granite boulders. We were surprised to see other bushwalkers in the area.
On approach decided on two options towards GZ and were glad the option we chose was not too difficult. At GZ cache was quickly found, then some time enjoying the view before heading back.
Glad to find one of these old caches and only 60 finds in 12 years wow!
Thanks culture50 well deserving of a favourite point.

Really enjoyed the walk here with my Dad. it was so pretty and secluded! Lots of ways to get there and no nasty bush bashing. Walked here on our final morning after camping and walking in the area for a couple of days. Tftc!
Really enjoyed the adventure of this one. If you are hanging off the top of the Boulder by your finger tips you are no where near the cache. I always try and make a cache into a t5. Over thought it, but got there in the end.
Out with a group of bushwalkers. Snuck off for a find while they enjoyed morning tea and the fantastic views. TFTC
My final find for Girraween. Many family trips to the area and today is one to celebrate.
Nice walk and a bit of a uphill hike. Pretty warm too for April 30°. Totally no water flowing anywhere! My first time seeing it this dry! So no swimming either.
Well, we will be back. You never know, there may be a new cache to find!

Once we stopped at a map and soon noticed where the entry point for the walk was it was even a little easier than expected.Great track to follow for most of the way and then the bush walk wasn't too severe which led to a top spot. When we found the cache we sat on the ledge just round the corner and my brother said to make sure I give it a favourite point.TFTC/culture50.
Out of Brisbane and down to Girraween NP for a few days of hard core caching (at least that's what my ankles were telling me after days of walking over steep lava flows )
We set-up camp and got is a couple of caches in the avo.
Girraween NP is a fascinating place reminds me of a blend between the Flintstones and Australia

We arrived mid morning and set up camp, then this afternoon we took a couple of walks. This was the first, and after stopping at a WP for the Earthcache, we continued on to explore this fascinating area. Lots of rock scrambling and cave exploring distracted us for a while, but we soon reached GZ and made the find. TFTC, culture50 and for bringing me here.

Tftc! Found by a new cache convert, I think he might be hooked now. Signal bounces around a bit up in the boulders, just need to persevere to track it down.
It was a frosty start as we made our way along the path to Aztec Temple. A really scenic walk, especially the wave cut boulders and underground creek. We spotted the Temple and could easily see how it was given the name....with the shaded contours it looked like an inca carving to us. We arrived at the Temple to the binging and dinging of emails and messages coming through on the phone....phone reception! If everyone had to make this much effort to get phone service there'd be a lot less calls. Great to see this older cache still going strong, TFTC culture50.
Found with geowife whilst camping. Worth the hike, great stone structures Recommend for anyone in the area.
Sadly we got no closer than 685m to this cache. We had read the description a few days before and armed with our memory (lacking) we headed for this one. very well prepared but muddled the info and walked to underground creek and back to the other swimming hole and got confused and left. Unable to get more information at this time we drove the entire loop and loved every minute of it. one day we shall return and give this a more thorough attempt.
Pprime does MEGA! Loving my days seeing all nooks and crannys of this wonderful area. This morning I returned to Girraween for the last walk in the park. Underground Creek and Aztec Temple. Still early morning I trundled along the great path to the creek (gorgeous), spent a few moments playing with the rocks before heading around and up over the top to head towards here. Found some unmarked tracks that got me to about 350m, and then headed left and up.
Easy enough going, came up the right-hand side of the temple - good choice - and very much admired the formations. With the morning freshness still in abundance it was spectacular. Up and up I went, and was soon pointing at a rather obvious looking spot which held a cache container. All good here. Spent a few moments just savouring the view, and knowing it was my last walk for some time now in this park I just breathed it all in.
Thanks for placing this cache, culture50. Found in good condition.

What a fabulous spot, we loved it. Walked to the granite formations and were blown away by them, and also starting to feel a bit hot and tired. On the way back we stopped near the underwater caves, where Mr S lay in the cool water in his bathers and Mrs S cooled her feet in a small waterfall. Wonderful, bliss. Loved the caves too. Headed off after this for what we thought was a well-earned iced chocolate at the chocolate shop. Thanks for placing the cache out here it was very special.
With the conclusion of the QLD Mega event, we still have a few days to explore more of the surrounding region. Girraween National Park has been on our list of places to visit, and with the weather clearing, it was a perfect day for a few hikes ?? After hiking up to the pyramid for some amazing views, we decided to check out the underground creek. The water rushing through and around the granite was impressive, and even more so from the top! Ronso then noticed a cache 700m away... so off we trekked to discover the lost temple of Aztec This whole area is simply amazing!! A favourite point from us a great cache to also release our first TB 'green gecko'!! TFTC culture50.
Woke up early at the Oz Mega camp site and decided to head down to Girraween NP with Screma and Degrees for a bit of a wander around the tracks.
This was the first of the walks we did. Walked down the well managed track to the underground river where we admired the rock forms for a while before heading onward towards the cache.
We spent quite a while scrambling the various rock formations and tacking photos before refocusing on the task at hand. Such a fun place with lots of little lookouts and boulder shelters.
The cache was found without any dramas and we got back to admiring the views again.
What an awesome location, loved every bit of this and being taken off track.
Thankyou for taking us up there! FP from me!

I didn't do many caches at the Mega (4) but this was one of them and definitely worth it. I looked at all those granite needles and caught myself thinking about finding a line and cracks for gear-placement. This would be amazing for rock-climbing but even without it looked great.
But how did I ended up here? Well funny story: I had to work in Brisbane and Rocky in the short week before Easter. The plan was to move house on the weekend however the tradies took a bit longer with finishing the kitchen hence why I suddenly had a couple of free days. Checking with the travel agent revealed that splitting the flight home ROK - BNE - MEL on Thursday would have cost me $250. Thanks but no thanks.
So on Thursday arvo I hopped on the plane bound homewards only to find after landing in Brissie that the connecting flight to Melbourne had been cancelled. Hmmm ... can I take a flight tomorrow instead of the next at no extra cost? Yes you can! Thanks Virgin Australia Two stops at Avis and Kmart later I was on my way to Stanthorpe. Conveniently ahomburg was in Brisbane that night so I had a tent and the only thing I needed for a good night sleep was a dirt-cheap sleeping bag and some rum.
As it seemed my luck continued and casually walking into the big hall I could hear a "Oh dear - here comes trouble!" - The Crackers, The Coffees, Leesa, Alan and a couple more familiar faces gathered and were about to leave for a nightcap.
.... (here goes the unspoken part till sunrise - Laiptan Lorgan was somehow involved) ....
In the morning I crawled out of Adriaan's tent (no headache!), had brekky with Em and Ben and off we were to some epic caching. The Aztec Temple was on the list and that's about it. I don't care about numbers but adventures and this cache really fits in there [^] It is definitely the favourite cache of the whole QLD trip!
Thanks and Cheers
Philipp
P.S.: If there would have been random prize categories for the Mega, I might have won:
• Longest detour (Melbourne > Rockhampton > Stanthorpe)
• Shortest account-name attended (º)
• Least caching done (4)
• Most rum drunken per time on the show-ground (undisclosed information)

Thursday was a quiet day, mainly spent bushwalking in Girraween National Park.
We did fins some caches along the way however.
This was find number 6 of 14 for the day.
Well this was fun.
Enjoyed the walk to the water hole, and then the underground creek, immensely.
After taking lots of photos and climbing all around the granite, we pushed on to this cache.
A lovely walk, not too rough.
The cache was found pretty easily, and was in good condition.
This is what caching is all about, a clear fav point from me.
Thanks for placing this cache culture50
PS There is no seek988 signature in the log book, a known bogus logger I think.

Easy find once we got to the area. Haven't been to this part of Girraween NP before, so nice to see something new. Thanks for the cache.
We have already came here a while ago, but didn't try to locate the cache. This time, with reinforcement visiting from Europe, we decided to give it a go. So, while M. Dhobitock and half of Buh were doing some civil engineering over the river, Mrs Dhobitock and the other half went on the quest to find this cache.
I think we took the right path, we arrived at GZ with not too much trouble, after climbing some rocks. Found the container, signed the log, checked the cool stuff inside, and replaced the box.
On our way back we here "cooooo eeeee"....Hmmm we thought they were building dams, but no they left with no GPS to "find" the cache. Fortunately no monsters in the bush, just some kangaroos
Nice cache and nice view from the top. TFTC

A short trip in the car to start the walk to this one. I made a quick detour to look at the waterhole on the way. Not much water today, but with sub zero temperatures overnight I was not going anywhere near the water
Back to the intersection and off to the underground creek. Some great rocks to see here
I followed the old trail around to the next rock slab and then across to the old road. I veered off at the first rock outcrop and followed an overgrown, but still distinct trail to GZ.
I made this one a bit harder than I need at GZ. The terrain rating seems a bit severe to me. I did have a great view from the rock above GZ though. After finding nothing up there I clambered back down to find the ledge and the cache
Lots of awesome rocks to look at on the way to this one. It is quite amazing the way the landscape has formed.
Another nice quick walk this one. Back at camp in time for lunch

For a while I was wondering why this cache had terrain 4. Should have known there is "up" involved. TFTC.
Away for a couple of days for Ange's birthday. This is a beautiful area and we will definitely be back again. Found the cache without too much trouble - this was the best walk of our trip - thanks culture50!! Awarded a favourite point.
Well it's been a weekend of milestones for team PJATPAC! We were in the granite belt celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. We both enjoy caching, so we took the opportunity to grab some on our bikes and in our travels. We were mighty close to the 1,000 so we pushed through a few more to get to the milestone. I had a few options up my sleeve depending on what happened. Mr LLJ suggested this one as am option for a worthy milestone cache. Turns out it was the perfect option for us today! It was only a short drive in and we set off on the walk. We checked out the other swimming hole first then made our way to the underground creek. What a cool place that was! We checked it out, did some rock hopping and we were on our way.
We took the chance to get some elevation near here & take some happy snaps. Now off to the cache! We pretty much took the direct route from here. The going was pretty good really, some rock hopping, some open scrub, thicker trees..... Then... The scramble! Mrs PJATPAC doesn't usually do this kind if thing, but she made it up there, and enjoyed the challenge! As it turns out, we took a pretty difficult approach, needing to actually climb the rocks at times with hands & legs. But we never felt like it was too much for us. Like I said, the perfect balance of challenge & comfortable for us.
We admired the views from GZ and breathed in the elation of the climb and making our 1,000th find .
A bunch of photos then the descent. We found some great roo trails & then a 4WD trail to get us to the rock pool. We were sort of ready for swimming, but when we arrived we were ready to head back. It was still a lovely spot to find.
So thanks culture50 for placing this one. A very enjoyable experience for Mrs PJATPAC and myself. Very cool to know that we can do this together. Thanks too to all the cachers whose hides made up the 1,000. This "lifestyle" has truly changed our life!

Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
Out today with Griffo, Captain Terror and Fangsoki, we set off in search of the one. We of course made a pit-stop at Underground Creek, and spent some time looking around, and enjoying the natural beauty of the place. We soon headed around, and off in the rain, in search of the cache. The walk was certainly a little hilly, and it the pouring rain, was certainly interesting. We soon arrived at GZ, and Gaz and Captain Terror had found little caves to hide in to keep dry We all signed our names to the logbook, and quickly headed back down the hill. An absolutely miserable walk in the rain, but the natural beauty of the area really shines, and with great company, what else could one ask for

We set of with Gaz and Kab, Fangsoki and Capt. Terror with the threat of rain not far away. We managed to make it all the way to GZ before the rain set in. A miserable walk back but the area is something to behold. Lots of water running today. Many thanks to the fellow cachersthat still managed to make this an enjoyable day.

Found with stairman1. What a fantastic area. There is so much to see and do out here. You could never get bored. And we certainly weren't bored with this walk. After visiting the underground water cave, we bid the path goodbye and headed up to a less known path. We had the mountains in our view and headed up towards them. We came across a pair of muggles who we had met before. After bidding them farewell our walk continued. We decided the best way to this cache was the direct route so we bushbashed our way up. It was pretty steep fighting our way through the bush but after a while we came across a crop of impressive rocks . Now which way do we go. Einee Meinee Minee Mo . We settled on which way to go and up we went. After a short climb, we arrived at GZ. Now how to get there. We rock climbed and after a quick search, stairman1 found the container. It is in good condition. We signed the log and had a well earned drink. After heading down, we found a track which took us right near a creek. I went for a dip and stairman1 dipped his toes in . Thanks culture50 for bringing us to a place we never knew existed. A favorite from me.
After stopping at the underground creek near by goldielover and I made our way over here. We took a route over the rocks for a way before finding a good track to follow. Taking us to with in 350 metres of GZ. Time to take the direct method and hope. Coming face to face with some large rocks it was a decision of left or right. Choosing the first we soon found an easy way up and through the temple. Very impressive they are. This type of caching is what I really love, coming to spots like this that very few people will get to. Looking back now I wish I had spent a little more time here just checking out the area. Maybe another visit will be in order. The cache is in perfect condition and now has a couple more names in it. Our return journey was a little easier. Once we hit the track again we followed it back almost to the under ground creek. A cache well worth the effort to get to.
Thanks culture50. Been a pleasure.

A week-end of caching around Girraween National park with 1/2 of geosapians was planned.
I have been to Giraween quite a few times to go rock climbing but have never been here even to go climbing.
We headed out to this after stopping to answer a question of two.
Thanks for the cache. It is dry and in good condition.

What a great cache this is. Gets an FP from us.
We hadn't visited this end of the park before so we headed off to Dr. Robert's Waterhole to have a poke around there before doubling back a bit to get to Underground Creek. Like Capt. Terror before us, we spent a bit of time exploring around here before scrambling round to the right of the cliffs to get up higher and heading a bit upstream to the swimming hole. The water was still very coloured from recent rains so we decided not to go for a dip this time.
The service road was obvious from here so we headed up that a bit before following the arrow off-track over some more granite outcrops and up to the Temple itself.
The cache was soon found and we took our time to enjoy the magnificent views and unique rocky outcrops of varying shapes and weirdness. A truly awesome place.
The return trip of approx 8km was enjoyable too. Although we did use the backtrack feature on our GPSr to make sure we didn't take the wrong route down (very easy to do). We stopped for a picnic beside the creek before heading back to the car.
An excellent and well recommended cache. Thanks for bringing us here Culture50. TFTC.

After visiting Dr. Robert's Waterhole Dad and I walked to the Underground Creek. It is my favourite place in this park. The millions of years of erosion are amazing. Spent a good while poking and climbing around in here. I can't imagine the rage of the waters during the floods. Certainly an interesting creek is Bald Rock. So on to the cache, and I took the usual Captain Terror most direct route and worked quite well. Another amazing spot here, and a pretty easy find with some more rock-hopping before heading back. TFTC.
This area has certainly been hit by the flooding earlier in the year. Amazing rock formations along the way and the creek was just stunning. Spent lots of time exploring and taking photos. Then on to the cache. The 'temple' area is amazing. The rock formations are just so massive... Weaved up and around and between and the cache was quickly found at GZ and in good condition. A wonderful area to visit. Thanks for bringing us out here culture50
Found with Spy3. The last part of the trek does indeed require some good navigation. Found an hour or so before sunset so we were treated to some great views of the sun between the rocks.

found late in the day, quite a climb but who heard of Aztecs building temples in the lowlands. found on trip with Jaeps.TFTC.
We were camping at Sundown NP - and we thought that we would have a go at this one. We were looking for a cache that would not be real easy. It took us a while but we managed to follow the directions to the swimming hole and then the road. Earlier in the day we had seen a red-bellied black snake sunning itself on the road so we were a bit warey. Trapsing up the hill... I was lagging behind my friend due to my fantastic level of fitness (or not). Finally got to the top and started the hunt. Circumnavigated everywhere.. looking.. looking.. to no avail. We eventually found it. Both my friend and I had looked in this same place (which was dead on with the co-ords I might add). A sneaky little hide. The cache is in excellent condition and looks like it was placed yesterday. TFTC Culture50 - I always enjoy your challenging caches
Well worth the trek to enjoy the views. Was actually looking for wombats when I came across the cache. Took a sticker each for the team. Obviously was easier coming back along the road! Refreshing dip in the pool.
Wow. Amazing rock formations. We read in a walking guide book about this area and the cache was just a good excuse while we were there. Found the cache quite easily and it was safe and well. Took a travel bug that had been biding its time for quite a number of months according to the log book. The walking guide book was a little mistaken with the "obvious footpad" leading into the area, however we didn't have any difficulty. TFTC
Not a new place for us, as we have visited (mrs George and I) several times in the past and still are awed by the massive rocks. No trouble finding the way, though the creek crossing was higher than last time. It was so high mrs George was almost INCA-pable of getting across!
Puff Puff Wheeze up the hill. A good hide Culture50!

No trouble finding the way back - that's what the track log on the gps unit is for! TFTC.

Out for a walk with a couple of Muggle friends, and glad to say we obviously lucked onto the easy way there. Some of the best rock formations were seen here along with heaps of orchids just starting to flower. Thoroughly enjoyed this cache. TFTH
Day 2 of our Girraween camping trip. We noted on the map that this walk was a short one - at least to Underground Creek...we dropped Justin's mum at the waterhole and headed onwards towards the cache. I think we took the long way around, because by the time we got there I was sooo buggered (and the instructions say no great fitness required - and I wouldn't say that about the route we took lol)

I set a few way points on the way to this cache to make sure I could find my way back. Once at the location I was on the wrong side but skirted round & located it. It was positioned in such a way that despite last night's rain & the resultant wet & slippery granite I was able to reach it without endangering myself so thanks for that. Left a swap. Disturbed a few kangas on the walk back & a rock wallaby near the hidden creek.
I spotted Bruce wearing his Geocaching shirt at Girraween National Park and one thing led to another and the four of us set of for Aztec Temple together.Being new to Geocaching I picked up a lot more info about the sport and my GPS in the couple of days we were together, thanks to Liz and Bruce.

Shortly after arriving at the Girraween National Park, Bruce had been spotted wearing his Geocaching shirt by another geocacher, Guddink. Arthur and Ann are new to geocaching so we found we had plenty to talk about over a drink at happy hour. We invited them to join us on this cache - which they did. The first part of the walk was well marked and then we read the cache notes which suggested we walk around to the water hole. This we did and marvelled at the beautiful rock formations and flowing water. But there was a cache to be found so we did not linger for too long. Then using to the gps to guide us we followed some minor tracks till we got to gz. Enjoyed the view from up top and again the wonderful rock formations. TNLN. On our return we spent more time at the water. Taking several photos of the fault line, the waterfall, the rocks, just everywhere we looked was so scenic. We even took photos of each other. We enjoyed doing this cache with Guddink and for the time we spent together. Thanks culture50
We started the day dreadfully. The GPS wouldn't work - showing a flat battery even though we had charged it overnight with AC powere; the camera had flat batteries and we'd left the charged batteries at our accommodation site.
And here we were at beautiful Girraween National Park.
Fancy going on a caching trip and not having a working GPS!
Oh well, we put the gps on charge in the car and we went for a walk to Castle Rock and return and enjoyed lunch in the day use area ... an area just screaming to have a cache somewhere nearby. While we had lunch, it rained - ruining any opportunities for caching on granite rocks.
Then we thought we'd try again. Hurrah! We managed to get the PDA "talking" to the GPSr (because it was charged properly). So off we headed for Aztec Temple.
A most pleasant walk on a cool, overcast day. After walking and following the arrow on the PDA for about an hour we had the cache in hand.
Took compass key ring. Left dingo.
TFTC.

Found this with a group of kids on a day trip. Interesting walk through the bush to find. The ants bite hard out here.
Took reflective arm band, tape and egg. Left picture frame, butterfly, compass light and stickers.

I would never have visited this area if it had not been for the cache. Found it on the first try with little difficulty. A great walk but need to be careful to recognise the trail on the way in as it is easy to get lost on the way out. Took the tiger and left small toy surprise. Thanks for the interesting walk. After what I like to call an "alpine start" we (MrNanks and I) arrived at GZ to witness the amazing sunrise, I never tire of Girraween and the stunning landscape. Thanks for the excuse to put my hiking boots on once more
Number 1058, After conning Astroboy into heading out to Girraween NP I realised what ridiculous hour I would need to leave home. It is the middle of winter and we arrived at sunrise ??? Anway, after a nice easy stroll through the rocky landscape we found the cache and took some photos. I will never stop being amazed by the rocks at Girraween. Thanks Frank and Sue for the cache.

Found while at the underground river while camping at Girraween. Took Geocoin Left Nothing.
This was a fun scramble up the hillside through the scrub. Lots of impressive rocks to see....Left Travel Bug NMRHW1.
beautiful day to be out exploring this part of the world. Rained this week so lots of water in the creek and waterholes. pleasant climb to the cache took TB and car left tape measure and paper cutter butters_58
Found with Geo-uncle Lat&long junkie, our seventh for the weekend. Our third FTF in two days. Where very keen to find this cache as I wanted to place TB there. Started off in the rain. Arrived at halfway point and realised we needed to venture further into the bush. You get to a point where you say you've come this far so you may as well keep going. Arrived at GZ slightly damper than when we started. Left Icarus TB as it is a good place that will keep him out of the sun. Nice area that I haven't visited before, thanks for getting us there Culture50.
We were first to find this one, but boy, was it a slog through the rain. Bedmaker and I made it to the creek and the GPS said go over there a few hundred metres. Climbed up onto the rocks for a look and thought, "better mark this spot so we can find our way back". That was the best thing we did. We might still have been there if we hadn't.
GZ is quite remote but a very rewarding trek. We were wondering on the way back, if apart from culture50 and ourselves, does anyone even knows the place exists? That makes it even more special. Thanks for a great hunt.
Took the xmas elf, left a hot BMW and signed the log.
