Wow what a drive, track is very over grown but found the cache it's very fire affected and the log is soaked, but reminds us of what happened in this area.
Out 4WD with FyshSauce. Was abit overgrown and a few challenging sections. Cache was bit melted. Thanks for the cache!
Just noticed I hadn't logged this cache. Completed with Noikemeister a while ago. Tricky little drive to the top of this hill. We turned back and camped at Bendethra but woudl like nto continue along the rest of this track.
Tried to do this a few years back but coudln't get past a fallen tree. Good to get this one ticked off.

Went out for a week end of 4WDing caching and camping with JmanJezza and family, ZQX and DogboyOz. This was a primary target for the weekend for all. Last time JmanJezza was here there was a big tree across the track. We made it easily enough and found the cache too. I parked at the bottom of the hill for the last 300m since it was a bit hairy. I'm pretty sure I could have made it.
Thanks TMG
Thanks TMG
Found at 1215ish with NM, JMJ, DBO, and two quasi-muggles. Full log to follow.
I was in Noikmeister's geo4wd. We parked at the bottom of the final ascent and walked. I found that walk to be one of the steepest I've ever done. My knees were not happy campers, espesh on the was back down.
The views at the top were anything but shite. It was perfect weather and the area was showing off. I never knew that this mountainous area was so big and so beautiful. Not for the faint-hearted around here!

Found at 11:07 AM GAFF2 in the company of DiMorgan.
This cache was the main reason for today's outing as we both needed the D/T combo. Looking at the map, I worked out a route that looked oh so simple and it was only 29 kms from where we are camped at Moruya Headland. Don't know what all the fuss in the logs has been! - this is going to be a cinch So off we go and head for the Knowles Fire Track which would take us straight to the cache, however when we arrived there was a bl!@#y locked gate there wasn't there [:(!] I tried to work the padlock loose and slip the chain - but it was far too tight. So with tears in our eyes we headed down the Araluen Rd looking for another access point. We found one way way down the road called Dry Creek Fire Trail. The only problem was that the trail went all over the place and what looked like a simple 6 km jaunt, turned out to be about a 25 km slog up and down very steep sections - the vehicles assisted braking thingy got a real work out and you should have smelled the brakes after a while
The scenery was just marvelous and the day was crystal clear allowing us to see a long way into the distance. We were about 750 metres above sea level when we stopped and it was a bit cooler than expected. The cache was found straight away thank goodness due to excellent co-ords.
Then a big discussion with all of the navigators on how to get back - but the driver in these situations has the last say and we retraced our steps and got down the mountain in a lot quicker time than it took to get up. A fantastic adventure that we really loved.
Thanks The Mountain Goat.

Our 2nd day at Moruya. Today we wanted to head to the mountains to collect a cache that was going to fill one of our DT.
This was the cache of the day. It was more a real adventure to get to the cache.
We had pprass as our driver today, who took all the resposability of our approach & which trail we took. We had contacted a previous finder who assured us the terrrain was certainly spot on. Amazing views was seen at all turns in the track.

While passing through we picked this cache up. What an excellent place to be, great vies and a top 4 x 4ing experience. Now we know why the cache is called it name, hum!!! We love this area, but had to leave early as advised by the ranger as 40 people got stranded last week. A must to come back sometime!!
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

What a beautiful (4WD)drive to this cache. Unfortunately we got to the final ascent and the road was recently graded and clay underneath the rock and rain the day earlier made the FIND impossible even on foot for the final attack. Sorry we were unable to move the TB's along as we thought taking them on a trip to the Vic high country would have been a worthwhile journey.
A great big thankyou to THE MOUNTAIN GOAT for placing some caches in great challenging places
We will be looking for more of yours soon

Looking for new caches in the area and noticed this hadn't been logged. I will never forget this one. Wife drove a 4wd for the first time and would not have named it so politely.
Not really a DnF but more liek a DnA. We got close but a fallen tree stopped us going any furhter. On a tight timeline to Bendethra so no time to walk the last few KM's
perhaps another day.
perhaps another day.
Is it that we didn't find it or that we just didn't get there. The fire trail was blocked with a tree significantly large enough to mean that without mechanical aid we weren't able to get through....of course we could have attempted to walk it...but with the Jezza-mites in tow the concept of a couple of km's along the trail up-hill was not sounding overly enticing. Another time perhaps.
Not exactly a DNF; but we got stopped by (maybe) the same tree that 03gallagherj found.
Bit disappointed to see that they hadn't cleared the track for us.
Unfortunately we didn't have a saw (or chainsaw with us) and the fallen timber was too long to just drag to one side. Fantastic views up here, and pretty chilly at this time of year. Track is in pretty good condition too, although definitely a 4WD-only route.
Will have to have another go at this one soon!

Been wanting to find this cache for a while and as it turns out we just happened to be 4wding past here that day, shame the track was closed just down around the corner due to a fallen tree well i'll be back to get rid of that tree
Nice cache and great views from the top, its easy to find you dont even need a GPS, but that hill climb before the cache is good fun easy but fun

Wow! Set off from Dry creek 4PM, checked the GPSr, only 5km direct way, ought to make it before dark. 30 minutes climbing and dropping down later, 6 km to go! Mericumbeene is going beautifully round and round, not getting closer until you turn off to Oulla. The last 200 meter climb fulfilled the expectations - steep loose rocks. Made it just before dark (about 5:30), with just enough light to find the cache. In: spiny pig Out: red clip of some sort TFTC.
Set out for a trail ride from Bendethra to dry creek and try our luck at Shite Hill on the way. Unfortunately I was unable to go all the way to Shite Hill but the rest of the boys continued on and made it. After a short search they found the well stocked cache and signed the log ( The Dan). Then it was time to set out for the return trip back to Bendethra
They tell me it was a MAD trail ride.
Many thanks

What a drive! Getting there was half the fun. Mrs bbayjohn drove the last leg of this one as her first attempt at 4x4. Made it up 'Shite Hill', but, got out at the top with legs shaking and hyperventilating, lol. Georgeous views! TFTC.

It seems that the northern end of Oulla Ck Trail is now mainly used by trailbikes looking at the tracks and as mentioned it was pretty overgrown. Even with a relatively narrow Suzuki am sure I added a few more badges of honor (trail marks) down the sides. Luckily the bush here is fairly soft.
Once I got close I understood the name (though as I drove back out south I think both sides would justify the name). Managed to get to the top first go (with the speedo saying 20 while I was hardly moving at times). But it grabbed traction often enough to get there. Thanks Suzuki for Low Range 1st. TNLNSL, then back out towards Moruya to the south which also had its interesting moments but got there in the end.
Thanks Mountain Goat for another great 4WD cache.

Great views from up here but somebody needs to do a bit of maintenance on the road up here as it's overgrown as anything. Great cache thanks

Finally!
We finally bought a 4WD and we thought what better way to spend a Friday of the long weekend. We came in from the south along Oulla Creek Fire Trail. The road is a bit overgrown just to the south of this cache, but we got through fine. This was a great climb up to the cache with superb views across the valley to the hills I know so well on the other side.
As I had found Dry Creek I had a fair idea what I was looking for. Thanks Mountain Goat for a great cache and after a couple of failed attempts, I finally made it.
Now which way to a hill that's 1km up???

This was an awesome journey, glad I didn't bring the geo-wife. Can't see her liking all the slipping and sliding. Had a ball and now I totally agree with the name of the cache.

I set out to get this one one the one wheel drive. I made it to within 5km of the cache but pulled the pin after a near high side going down a hill that had me wodering if they could get a chopper in here and how much it would cost me to repair the bike. I think I'll have to leave this one for the time being until I have a support vehicle. I decide to go and check out Dry Creek instead.
As we left Dry Creek for this cache we went up, up and up, then down down and down. How many times we did this I lost count. The best thing being as you looked out in the distance you could see where the road went and then before you knew it you were looking back at those hills and where you'd been. Like Tangle we stopped and checked out the trig caches, mini rat was disaapointed when there was no swaps to be seen.
As we approached this cache from the north it all looked pretty easy till the last hill which has become quiet loose. Once on top we sat and had lunch with the cache in hand. On a number of occasions I got up to look over the edge (same direction as description photo) to see if I could see the 4x4 I could hear - no luck.
Decided to continue south after completing this cache and lunch. Now the other mini rat has a flute to blow and we had the clue. Great spot MG, a must for anyone who has a 4x4.

Lot of up and downs,Bit hair raising at times but worth the trip up there, best leave for this cache in morning,Left blue mouse took wallet. We decided to call ourselves the teamtrekers
as from this time on.

I also agree with tangles, this was a top drive and with excellent views as well. When we turned off the mericumbene fire trail 3 of the 4 4X4's had a distinct whining noise coming from the left side of the car. We stopped and investigated but found nothing, these three cars all then switched drivers with their better looking passengers and the noise was gone just like that. Anyway all but one of the better looking halves managed to drive the correctly named Shite hill and it was not long before BigMickB had the cache in hand. I think we took one of the rubber lizards but I'm not sure what we left in return. After this we did a small amount of back tracking and it was back along the mericumbene trail into bendethra for lunch. Thanks Greg.
Found with YoungGregB 4WD Adventure Touring company. I think the only reason I found this first was that my car was in the lead and didn't have to stop for a driver change. I located the cache and sat back and watched Greg and Co. find it upon their arrival. Thanks Mountain Goat. Top work!
We approached this cache from Moruya following the Oulla track (or what ever it is called) from Donalds Creek Road. The track up here was reasonably easy but quite scratchy. The views from here are excellent and really show just how rugged the mountain ranges and country side are just west of the coastal strip. The view back to the radio secure cache is also very good. We would have to agree with Tangles that this has been a good series of Geocaches so far. Any how off to do some more of this series and take some more photo’s.

After the warm up hill following the crossing of the Deua the hills keep on coming and if you are not being pushed back in your seat while ascending the hills your seatbelt is holding you in place while descending. On reaching the first trig it has a visitor book container but there was no book, just notes on pieces of paper that other adventurers have left with their story or names, all the trigs in the area have visitor books. From the trig we look westward towards the highest mountain and note a trail that goes straight up to its summit. We had a quick check of the map and conform that’s the trail we have to go up and we have not even got any Sherpas we us. Soon we arrive at the base of the mountain and the trail points up to the sky and that’s all you see during the assent except when cresting a waterbar when the car nose-dives into the unknown. The ridge out to the cache has some great views of the Budawangs in the distance plus the wet stuff. We finally arrive at the hill and think no hill can be worse then some of the ones we have already traversed, WRONG. Once on top another superb cache was located, the only thing wrong with the cache container is that we can’t fit DVDs in them.
On to number two in this series. I've been on some of these tracks before so knew what was in store until I turned onto the lesser firetrail. The last climb was a challenge but did not cause an issue. Another holltop. wow.
