Spending time in this neck of the woods today although, in my determination to get out whatever the weather, I probably spent longer in the rain than necessary as it quasi 'cleared up' a little in the early afternoon. By then, I was pretty sodden, so it hardly mattered! The track was pretty water-logged but you gotta love chicken wire covered boardwalk as it offers great grip (and keeps the feet dry)! This was my priority cache today, as it fills a missing hidden date. As a previous cacher found, the hint was misleading and lead me on a merry dance. I eventually found the two caches, at x4 the hint paces. It wasn't raining during my visit here (hallelujah!). TFTC SARD0G
Found with PBHurricanes and Ruby Rabbitt on a gorgeous day out in the bush. My first cache in over a year. Cheers!

Today we left Wellington and continued our journey with next stop in Stratford. We stopped here for a nice walk and some caches but in fact this was the only one we could find. As the next one was to deep in the woods we decided to turn around and continued our trip to Stratford. Thanks for hiding and maintaining the cache.Happy hunting!TFTCschnuckel1[#24145]
Cache found with grandson (JoggIn jnr) and granddaughter (JoggIn jnr jnr) while exploring the paths and boardwalks. Note : more than 5 paces, and there are 2 caches with log books - signed both of them. Thanks for the placement.
Quite a bit more than 5 paces and I'm not sure that qualifies as a log, but hey, nice cache anyways!
Thrilled to exchange my sad face here for a smile! Spent ages last time fossicking around. Much more successful today. Looked more like halfway between old and new picnic tables and more of a curved tree than a log to me! All good with the fresh waterproof paper- will last a good while here. Sitting in the sun, enjoying all the birdsong! Thanks for bringing me here
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are currently parked up at the NZMCA Park at thr Foxton Racecourse … um, in Foxton … decided we’d go for a bit of a drive around exploring the local area … thought we’d grab a near-by Kiwi Guardiam, do some Ad Labs & grab some caches … this one easily found, log-book completed & safely returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #4,329 for us!
I completed this lovely walk today with JustLookingOO as we were tracking down a new cache released by TwigNZ. On the way back, we detoured to this spot to look for this.
After a fair bit of wandering around, JustLooking spied the cache, probably a bit closer to 5 metres rather than 5 steps from the initial place the hint suggested (although of course we could have had that wrong).
Thank you for the cache

After a good look it was more like 17 paces but JoeyGeo found the it. Thanks JoeyGeo.
Came. With a group of catchers from the nearby event to grab a FTF and this was on the track. Hint off. We managed to get 16 steps to the cache.
I wrote in the log and placed the cache back as found, TFTCSL. Thanks SARD0G for this Traditional. Thanks for helping us get one step closer to our next milestone.

Found it on our second look, see Piratenleo’s log for more detail Tftc, all good with this cache.
Went back for a second look with my family Piratenflynn, Stefthevet and GabiG500 (who had already logged this a few years ago). Reading past logs we searched the wider area, GPS was a bit off, but cache sense prevailed and we found it after a short search.
Hint is still quite accurate if you know where picnic table used to be. Definitely use your cache sense instead of gps for this one. Tftc, soooo stoked we found it on second attempt

Searched here and there and everywhere but no cache. We think we found the first thing in the hint but unsure where to from here.
Considering the main element of the first line of the hint has vanished, it's tough to track down the right area without using previous logs. I would check the cache and update the hint if it's still present.
Up from Southland with muggly hubby to revisit some old haunts and discover new places. Taking a leisurely trip and the caching goal is to complete PWGT2.
Arrived Wellington yesterday, and this is Day 1 on the road. Aiming for Shannon.
Looked for this on the way in, but GPS had me all over the place. Maybe it's a combination of the wet trees, overcast conditions and some time spent in airplane mode yesterday...

Dash! Might be overthinking things here but had a good look on the way out and back. Thanks for bringing me here tho- a beautiful place and I’ll have to try again!
I didn't realize this was such an old cache and I was rather surprised to see that the original CO had only recently performed maintenance on it! Just in time too it seems, I didn't realize this had been missing up until recently. It took me a while to find and despite the hint seeming to be quite prescriptive it didn't seem to help me get to the right place. After giving up and heading to the end of the track first I had another look on the return and found it in only about a minute this time using cache sense alone. Oh well. An extremely nice area to be walking and now that there's several caches around here it was worthwhile coming for a visit to collect them. TFTC.
Exploring Papaitonga Reserve on a fine spring Sunday. Had a short hunt on the way out, but had to abandon due to the arrival of a couple of walkers at the Lookout. Tried again on the way back, this time knew where to search, and soon found. Brand new cache container in perfect condition. Tftc!
Cache had been completely replaced. The reserve has changed over the years and the clue is less helpful now… but it’s not a hard find - conceal the cache properly before you go!
This cache has been temporarily removed.
I'll reinstate it later this week all going to plan.

Had a good look around for this, but nothing found. Noticed the many DNF’s on this recently so called it a day.
Too many muggles at GZ today and I was running out of time so had to abandon the search.
Soon arrived in the vicinity of this one, but took a little while due to tree cover etc. The eventual find was 12 metres from indicated GZ so, with the lookout at your back, head away from it uphill and cache is behind a gnarly tree base.
This was another area I was keen to cache at with a few Traditipnals, a Tour cache and a challenge cache I qualify for too. Quite muddy underfoot and plenty of water in the creeks and streams and no Australian water dragons sighted (as per sign).
An unusual weekend this was, with mrs c in the region since Wednesday afternoon but me working meant it was Friday evening before we got together and discussed the new house we will soon be moving to. She'd come down in case it fell through which was looking possible at some points last week, but all good in the end. She headed back up North to Auckland this morning and the day was forecast for, and started off with, plenty of the wet stuff. I decided a trip to Foxton and Levin was happening anyway, even if just for a few Ad Lab stages. In the end the big yellow thing prevailed and dried up all the rain and I was able to make a few finds and not get too wet. Even got to (finally) meet TwigNZ, which was good, esp as I'd found a few of his today. Thanks to all COs for their contributions to my fun today.

Got the geokids and went to find this one. We forgot a pen in our haste but we took a photo to say we found it. Found with sweatyyetinz. Tftc
Decided to pick up a few caches on my way home from Levin today, after having had a bit of a ‘break’ over the past three months, primarily due to the busyness of life. Good to get back into it again! This was one of the four I located on the walk in to the lake (well, not literally!). Took a few minutes to find. In the end it seemed more than the number of paces stipulated in the hint, and about 13m from the GZ showing on my iPhone! At least I found it! #4284. TFTC.
OK so my gps had us going up the wrong road. Finally found the entrance. Enjoyed this walk in a little bit of native forest around this lake. Quick snag and tag at GZ. Cheers
Taybee NZ and I are on a day out together to Palmerston North to scoop up the last few PWGTs needed to complete the Rua series. With a couple of shopping stops along the way. Enjoyed walking Lake Pataitonga and visiting Shannon Dam. Even tackled the steps at Anzac Park for a great earth cache. Had an amazing day thanks to all the COS and Taybee NZ.

On my MEGA trip to Auckland except I am now heading from Feilding to Wellington.
However to complete the artwork AdLab I have to drive through Levin to admire the artwork in Ohau before I can enjoy Levin's artwork.
On the way back I headed for the GeoTour cache and enjoyed some time out of the car.
Nice to come across an old cache. Found the remnants of the picnic table easily enough and then scouted around for the hide which took about 5 minutes.

On an enjoyable outing with Infoferret + parents. Fortunately IF spotted this one as I’d been following the hint + satnav. TFTC!
Co ords were close and benchchair mentioned not found by me this time however a short search revealed the goods but paper log was getting near full and some older buts were looking worse for wear. Otherwise was a great find and we had fun finding. Tftc
Is a nice walk though but went on a very windy day need to go back and get the others
Re-visited this cache in the company of a new cacher, and noticed that there's not many spaces left on the log. I'll try to take another walk down here in the next week or so to drop in a new logsheet
We have come to the North Island to do a bit of a whirlwind tour and find some of the new PWGT caches. We were in the North Island for our summer holiday only a few months ago and as it turns out many of the places we went to we are revisiting on this trip.
GK headed off to find this and the other caches in the area while I waited in the campervan. He was having trouble finding one of them and he rang me up. So I grabbed my crutches and off I headed to join in with the search. I am so pleased I did as this is such a wonderful wee track in amongst lush bush. The bird life was just superb.
On our way back we just stood for a while looking, listening and appreciating the environment.
GK found this cache once the phone decided where it was going to settle, he signed the log before returning it all as he found it.
Thank you placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

I must have shorter legs than some people but I liked the interesting ground level tree root/ trunk. Tftc
A nice quick find thanks, once we looked at it from a different angle!
Ms_KR and I flew up to Hamilton to catch up on family and a few caches, especially those in the new PWGT geotour. Day 3, Palmerston North to National Park. First rain of the holiday when we reached our accommodation!. We are looking at completing those in the Central North Island this holiday.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Hint was hard to follow with so little left but my eyes led me to the right place. Thanks for the cache SARDOG
My coverage was sparce at best so a tad of searching and geo sense was required ..the cache was soon found the log signed and returned to it hiding place..thanks
Took a few minutes to track this one down but not too long. Visiting from Dunedin to grab the PWGT cache. Thanks!
Took a bit of searching. About to give up and heading out when spotted it just as a group of oldies turned up at the lookout so we had a barney.
With rebel98, found about 11m out. Went to far and had to backtrack. Amazing spot, thanks for the hide SARDOG
Day 3: A long weekend filled with adventure and finding caches with rebel98.
Started early with a plane flight to Wellington. The plan is to slowly make our way back to Auckland over 4 days in a rental car.
In the end we travelled 1550 km, with overnight stays in Dannevirke, Fielding and Tokaanu.
Statistics: 67 caches found including 1 adventure lab, a mixture of 7 puzzles, 4 virtuals, 12 multis, 1 earthcache, and 31 PWGT caches.
This weekend we both completed the PWGT geotour - Rua.
And on the way rustynz found her 7000th cache.
(Thank you to all the CO for their cache hides).

Out and about with the_Jinx hunting out some of the high FP geocaches in and around Levin.
Came here to get the local PWGT Geotour geocache. Then we tried to find The MEGA hungry Cacherpillar Challenge geocache as the_Jinx had a large TB he was trying to drop somewhere. That was our first DNF, and this looked like it might be another but he found it after a short widening search about 8 metres from where my GPS indicated. Nice to find another old cache but it's looking a bit sad. I'd say it's seen better days and could do with a little TLC.

After attending the local CITO at Kimberley Reserve, Phronimos and I ventured around all of Levin to find the best of the best in this town as well as a few others that were along the way. It was great fun to go out geocaching with another geocacher and we were able to find some really clever hides.
This was the last geocache Phronimos and I did together. We had gone to the reserve to find the new geocache that was part of the geotour and saw that this one was also there, so we thought we should just pick it up as well while we were there. Took us quite a while to find and we spent a good 15 minutes searching. The lookout was very nice as well, took a few beautiful photos to remember. TFTC!

#1445. Returned here with a group heading to the PWGT cache before TwigNZ’s CCE in Ohau.
I had looked for this unsuccessfully last month - didn’t DNF it though - but armed with a little more advice, this time, despite coordinates showing it 11m away, found as hinted. Assisted in the search by Itchyfeet2020.
Tftc SARDOG.

First one of the day. 4 of us out to find the PWGT before the Cannonball Run and this was on the way. Took a little bit of deducing but we got there. TFTC.
After parking the snail shell up in Marton it was time for a road trip to get some of the PWGT caches and any others that got in the way.
This is one that got in the way. I saw evidence of the old picnic table and then found the cache.
Cheers for the cache.

Collecting as many caches around the Levin area as possible. What a wonderful reserve which I’m sure I would never have noticed if it wasn’t for geocaching. Would have sped past on SH1 like the rest of them. Lovely to be in the shall on such a hot day. Not sure where the picnic table was but still found the hint helpful. Thanks for the smiley and the great lookout.
Our 2nd day of 4 to collect all the PWGT series south of Auckland down to Lake Wairarapa. Today, I’m with FMZ in his 4WD and it’s been quite the mission so far.
On the way back from getting the PWGT cache, me and FMZ attempted this one, took us ages and we were getting frustrated, so a call was made, and hence the cache was found soon after that.

Day three of a five day North Island Pokai Whenua GeoTour expedition collecting all the geotour caches for PWGT Tahi and PWGT Rua. 3550km travelled over 5 days, 70 geotour caches found. Today we travelled from Turangi to Masterton via the Manawatu. Our group today consisted of Gorby, boneybruce and myself.
Took a bit of hunting here as the coords took us to not the picnic table stump. Got some guidance from rosmar as to where the actual picnic table stump was and then it was easy. TFTC

On a mission chasing TWGT and grabbed this while in the area. Noticed the no dog sign so ROS drew the short straw to complete the walk while MAR stated in the moho with the fur babies. No problem with the find TFTC.
Fun to locate picnic table but log more like 5m...so big leaps for little people. Bit spidery too! Good fun!
Had to have been giant footsteps to take 5 but easily spotted the whereabouts. Beautiful place full of different birdsong (the birds were hiding). TFTC
Had to search a bit, and found a geocoin about 1 m away!
Took geocoin to continue its tours of lakes.

Found on a beaut sunny Winters day. A lovely walk to stretch our legs on our journey North. All good dry condition here. TFTC
Thought this would be a quick find and log, but on arriving at the lookout three drunk muggles (one in a dressing gown!) prevented me from exploring. So I pushed on to a second Cache I'd planned to do in the area. I could hear the threesome throughout the bush, so could gauge weather they were going or not. After signing the log for the 2nd cache I had a bit of a walk around, disturbing a couple at the other lake lookout. The drunk muggles got louder and louder and it turned out they were on the move, deeper into the bush. I passed them on the track and quickly headed for Mini Me. Took a bit of a find and during this time the drunk threesome came back. I had to lay low for a little until they eventually moved on back to the carpark. Log signed, took nothing, left nothing. A lovely spot. My timing was just a bit off. On a lighter note, I saved a native snail that had made its way onto the track. These snails are the only carnivorous snail in the world, I placed it safely off the track. Tftc
The EtherClan are spending the first weekend of the School Holidays at a friend's home just up the road from the lake.
Additionally, today is a dot-day and this one is on my radar given my friendship with the CO.
Quick find at GZ once I had tripled the step count.
I was meaning to bring my maintenance kit to give this one some TLC, but left it behind in Palmy
Next time!
Thanks for placing this cache and for bringing me to this beautiful location.

Took us a while to find the hint object but quickly located the cache after that. Such a lovely walk so thank you for bringing us here.
Found after a nice lunch at the busy Salt and Pepper cafe. Lovely walk. Straightforward find. Thanks for placing the cache
**Found on our way home from a February - March tour around the South Island. Logging back home in Auckland in Lockdown isolation**
After spending the night at Ngati Toa Domain we are heading to Bulls to catch up with family. Arriving in Ohau we turned off and headed for Lake Papaitonga Reserve. We had an enjoyable walk to the old picnic area where we tried to follow the hint. Like others we needed to extend the distance, but then found another set of foundations. We were getting close to giving up when one of us spotted the hide. TFTC.

Time for a little walk! Took a while to locate, because as mentioned by others, the reception might not be the best, and the hint is a slight underestimation. Just as I was ready to leave, an older guy appeared on the track, so we had a good chat about kawakawa and its uses. Much easier than explaining the real reason for my visit! TFTC!!
