The cache may be there but the CO hasn't been around for a couple of years. The cache can't be adopted without the CO's permission so it will be archived. If a local wants to make a listing for the same place, feel free to do so.
Sure enough, the cache is still there! We read the logs on this one and today we had the opportunity to revisit the cachesite. We spent 5-10 minutes looking, as the co-ords had us in the middle of the lake, no matter how many times we re-checked waypoint two. I'm very pleased to see this one up and going again, as this place is a great place for a cache. As for the cache, it is in great condition and not wet. This one can be enabled it again.

Seems to be our week for Caches from the past.. We have looked on and off for this one several times over the last few years.. I think we had our first look back in 2006. Until now it has always alluded us. Despite the success of others, we just were not able to spot it. Now that we have upgraded to an Oregon we had much better indication from the GPS at GZ, our Legend just didn't work at all here and we relied on a compass bearing to the cache from a point more distant.. How things change with 3m EPE sitting right on top of it! So yes, we found it .. It is certainly still here. It is very very well camouflaged. It is easy to see if you know what you are looking at. The log is a little damp, but otherwise the cache is in fine condition. Nearly a year since the last find, but bring them on, the cache awaits in these lovely town gardens. Thanks muitah (even if your are no longer active).
Hmmm. How embarrassing. Prompted by Goingbush'es note I went and checked out the site a second time. He is correct the cache is in fact still there. Pretty much exactly where it's always been. Just goes to show what great cammo the container has.
This cache is still apparently in place - I checked with the gardener who has long been aware of its presence including during recent clean-up of the area. The gardener believed that it was still within "a metre" of its original location. I have observed it in situ since the area was altered, I will check again to confirm that it is still there.
The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation this in a timely manner (i.e., within 30 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.
Checked out the site today as Geo-Junior said the council had removed all the vegetation that the cache was in. He was right. The cover is all gone, and so has the cache.
Sadly the owner has not been into GC.com for ages either. So I believe this should be archived.

This is becoming a nemisis cache for me, twelve months ago the information board was missing, today there were gardeners at GZ. when I went searching, they had come into the park while I was eating my lunch. If only I'd cached first then lunched, maybe I would have a scored another smilie.
No luck today...lots of people around so couldnt do as much searching as we would have liked, but disappointed that we could not locate
Wow tough hide this one, but a nice spot. One of the geopuggles got dirty and found it but it took a bit of searching. TFTC

Well checked for this one before in 2007 and had no luck, went back today and still couldn't find it. I think I shall need a hint for this one.
Thanks
Thanks
Not found today, got to the area and a good search, will be back someday, Thanks muitah.
This was the first ever cache that Brotex attempted over a year ago, but we were unable to locate it. One year on and we are a bit older and wiser in the way of caching and found it within minutes!!! The frustrating thing is that we were looking in the right place inthe first place, just didn't look deep enough!! Anyway, it was with a great sense of satisfaction that we were able to tick this one off our to do list!! Thanks for the challenge!
Went to inital co-ord's today and looks as though the information board has been taken down. Nice park anyway. Thanks muitah.
Found at 3.15pm with Peter and Tilley TB. Great hide loved the camo job. Good multi, wouldn't have known about this place otherwise. My GGF probably swam here. His mother was the postmistress in the 1880's. Tilley TB and fairy geocoin went for a swim! SL TNLN TFTC
After our could not look 3 months ago because of muggles we were happy to be here in the light drizzling rain and having the place to ourselves. The cache was located fairly rapidly as it was partially exposed but everything inside was still intact.
TNLN and signed the log

I finally managed to find this one after a disappointing DNF last time. Full marks for the choice of location, the gardens and the baths are simply magical in Autumn. I was happy to find most of the weeds had been removed and the coords seemed a lot better today which made for a quick find.
Thanks,

We enjoyed our walk through this lovely little park collecting the required information but unfortunately there were a lot of muggles out and about enjoying the park and it's facilities as well. We followed the GPSr to gz wherey there were a lot of young muggles playing nearby so were unable to search any of the likely locations. We decided to sit back and try and out wait them when they were joined by the local marshal art's class who set up only meters away from us. We will have to return another day
Thanks anyway muitah

Found today by Mr Emu & Demon Boy @ 11.05 a.m., GAFF1 http://wiki.geocaching.com.au/wiki/GAFF . No. 3 of 25 on our "return to Ballarat" day, our biggest caching day so far.
We had unfinished business from almost a year ago, so it was particularly pleasing to find the cache, well-hidden with it's camo and location. A nice job hiding it in this lovely park.

First tried for this ages ago. This time round I had a couple of tips and the rather difficult find was made quite quickly. TNLN thanks.
Found by McAdies.
We tried this one about 10 months ago but didn't find it. Tonight decided to have another go and after a short search our dog Lucy sniffed at something and there was the cache looking right at us!
Great to have this one off the list.

Found after the second try (in the same day). The co-ords are not much chop, but the photo was very helpful.
We sent Fozzy778 a SMS to ask for help, but Mrs flyjabiru1 found it before he replied. Thanks anyway Fozzy778
Very good camo on the box. Even looking right at it, it is still hard to see.

Dropped by on my way home as there have been a few DNF's and it's while since the cache was found.
They have cleaned up the park, the bridge has been rejuvenated, there is water in the pond and the cache is quietly waiting to be found.

Looked on dusk last night - went back this morning in better light, but no joy Did find a little dug out section in the earth where it perhaps used to be????
We had a bit of a hunt around GZ but with a muggle sitting nearby on a bench we didn't want to look too suspicious so aborted the search till a later date! Now that I've seen the previous cuple of logs I'm thinking that perhaps it wasn't there after all!
Cheers

Took some of the family along to try their hand at geocaching. Maybe I should have tried a different cache! As many before us, and no doubt many more to come, the GPS reception was lacking, and the cryptic clue did not do much to enlighten us. Left to try again another time!
DNF. We were going so well right up until the last bit, when the satellites didn't want to play ball anymore. The harder we tried the less sure we were of even the ball-park, and so the clue didn't help us I'm afraid. Another day, perhaps. Nevertheless, an interesting spot and we're glad we visited.
There are lots of bits of history about swimming locations that are not there anymore. Do we swim a lot less, or are we fussier about where we swim?
A great park with no one around. Unfortunately, we were a bit short of satillites - the GPS was just not playing. We got a clue that made it a lot easier (just before we got out the rotary-hoe ).
Thanks, Robmc.

This proved to be quite a challenge. Couldn't get a decent GZ location to save ourselves and without a ball park the hint was a bit vague too. Called Oenze for some help which was forthcoming and soon after we found it. Interesting park and history.
Thanks indeed.

I found the cache at 14:50. I enjoyed the history on this one and the park was great. The cache sure was hard to find and after spending quite a bit of time looking in the wrong spot I rang a help line and soon had the cache in hand after that. Thanks muitah for the cache.
At last we've found it!, this one seems to give many a hard time and we were no exception. !. After 2 visits we hit the jackpot, using the clue, as the GPS had us looking in the wrong spot.

When I first tried to find this cache, it was to be my 4th find. Now, I FINALLY FOUND IT as my 56th cache!!!
Took me ages of searching, but I was determined to get there, and armed with the knowlegde about the proximity to the path I spent about 30 mins until BINGO!
Magnificent hide, the cache itself is very clever.
T- dart game, L- puzzle.
I feel like I've found the elusive grail!!

The cache has had a touch of paint and is now waiting to be found. It's hidden within easy reach of the path, so there is no need to trample any plants in your search. Please ensure the cache is well hidden when it's returned, so it's not accidentally found by muggles.
Many thanks to Roundcircle for his assistance here.

The council is in the process of cleaning up the gardens and doing some serious pruning and clearing of some undergrowth areas. So I have grabbed the cache, lest it be cleared away in the process. Hopefully it'll be able to go back in a week or so. I'll give the container a touch up whilst it's out.
At least the clean up should get rid of all the nasty Blackberry plants.
At least the clean up should get rid of all the nasty Blackberry plants.
Checked on the cache this morning. It might have suffered a little cache creep, and was perhaps deeper in than it used to be. Relocated it forward a bit.
The cache is visible and able to be retrieved from the path. Please take care to ensure that the container is camouflaged when it's returned. A few spots of paint have come off, and it will stand out if these are exposed.
I don't think that the bushes have been damaged by Cacher's, at least I hope not. If it was Cachers, they were looking in the wrong spot.

I came armed with a specific place to look and description of the cache - no luck. The area has been trampled terribly and I was not prepared to search off the path. Added to that is the presence of some rather nasty plants. Could the owner please make a comment about the status of this cache and save others the frustration of a DNF and cuts to the arms.

RedPaw64 couldn't find this cache. Checked in a few likely spots but you can see the greenery is getting damaged due to cachers trampling it. After spending a good time searching and loosing my redpaw stamp in the process, I decided to give it up for the day. I will be back though.
its a nice area though, nice and peaceful.

Originally I wasn't going to log my visit here (too embarassed to say I didn't find it). Having read other peoples' logs I don't feel so bad about my failed attempt.
My reasons for giving up today were:
1. My poor arms had scratches all over from the blackberry that is everywhere.
2. The trampled plants look terrible and I didn't want to cause more damage.
Luckily the GZ is not too far from my house so I will keep trying!!

Mr Emu & Son were unable to find this cache on our first Ballarat visit. Son of Emu learnt at least one valuable lesson from his father today - "if all else fails, read the instructions". After calculating two possible WP1's [?]and then exploring them both for the cache, Mr Emu realised that he should be looking for the (very obvious) KEY to GZ, not the GZ itself .
Unfortunately there was no quick saving of his self-esteem. Despite the cache being found only yesterday by VKC1SR, we were unable to locate it. GPSr readings were all over the place, but I still thought we'd be able to find it. A couple of places were not checked due to a wish to avoid trampling the greenery, but no excuse I'm afraid. Nice park, and interesting history though - thanks for showing it to us muitah.

Didn't find this one. GPS was not very accurate today and we checked a few spots before giving up as the clue depended on which was you walked up to GZ and there was a few muggles around. Might wait until someone finds this before we go out again, in case it has been muggled.
Unfortunately there was a muggle convention in the park today - approx 50-60 with muggle children in the vacinity of the cache - tried to look but it was too risky with the kids running around.
Will try again when in the area.
Will try again when in the area.
After watching the destruction being caused around what is left of the lake by local muggle-children on the weekend, I wonder if all the trampling here is cacher related or not.
Enjoyed the lead-up to gz but spent at least 20 minutes looking with the gps all over the place. Unfortunately mass trampling of the vegetation mean that I was almost certainly looking in the right area, but the clue didn't seem to help. One trouble with clues like that is that it depends on which way you are facing! I stopped looking as I didn't want to add to the already significant damage that has occurred here. The longer this cache remains hard to find, the more damage will occur! Perhaps this needs a rethink? I am aware of several more reported DNF's.
This one was much harder than I had expected and I think my protracted search at GZ found the cache more by luck than anything else. Nice story of the baths too. Thanks muitah.

Found after a family gathering. Nicked out to find this after working out where GZ was about 3 weeks ago, but I had to leave it at that time due to the presence of muggles.
I returned with Oenze (who also had trouble finding it last time, both of us here on our 2nd visit), and after a quick help line call, found it in a most unusual place.

Looked for quite a while but due to a combination of muggle activity and the GPS floating around, we called it quits. Shall return again. A lot of the plants seem trampled on in this spot, which is such a shame, but convinced me we were looking in the right spot.
25th Cache for the CanClan, this was another team effort in fading light. A quick look by GeoMum lead to GeoDad being sent into the darkness. We had picked up torches on the weekend, but left them at home! Coming to the rescue AGAIN was the mobile phone and it's light.
After about 5 mins of looking around, stumbled upon the container. Both of us had been frustrated by this one, we wanted it!!
Took: Post It Notes
Left: Office Dart Board
I might also suggest perhaps a temp disable, as the lack of water isn't allowing for local vegetation to recover.

Well we have to log a DNF for this one.
We noticed that the co-ords for WP2 were about 13 metres off, and hope that the final spot doesn't have the same error.
We searched for quite some time around where the GPS saud we should be - to no avail.

I have found this cache as part of JADE004, but have now created my own separate account (therefore I am not shown in the log book under this username).
Our second find ever. A bit of to-ing and fro-ing, getting the hang of the GPS. Encryption very helpful. Well disguised. Couple of muggles around but a good cache for being discreet.
Found at 12.55pm GAFF3. This was a tough find for us. Not sure if we mucked up the calculations or not, but we were 12 metres out and lucky to find it at all. In the end we learned that there is no need to walk into the garden beds at all. Nice park and thanks mutiah for highlighting it to us. Took: Caribiner hook, Left: Cue stick chalk.
There's big signs on the gate saying no entry - the Botanic Gardens are closed due to construction work. The place was deserted. I decided not to venture in anyway.
Finally found this one. Should have been my first find, but I was still getting the hang of my new GPS and how to use it. So instead it is my 2nd.
Once I got to GZ it took me a few goes to spot the cache, which was visible, but blended in really well to the vegetation. Great job.
Took puzzle and left medal.

Accompanied by GeoDano , with the GeoMrs as navigator and scribe. On our way to visit family in Ballarat . This was our second attempt for the day. Had a bit of trouble interpreting the information at WP1, took an educated guess, which proved to be the right one, and ended up at WP2, from there it was not far to GZ. Had an extensive search, but with the light fading it was no go.
Found at 3.05pm after an extensive search.

A late log... found with Muzza and Kiwideb. Interesting info on the old baths in very damp/wet conditions for the day.
It was wet and rainy when we looked for the 1st clues. Once all collected we headed off to find the cache. Had to decipher the clue to get the cache. My feet are wet.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
We made an error interpretting one question and ended up at the wrong WPT2. A quick substitution had us back on track. At WPT2 there were no problems, so we headed for GZ. Satellite signals gave us a bit of trouble and eventually we decoded the clue. From there, it was an easy find. I didn't make a trade.
Thanks for showing us this lovely park, for the history lesson, and for the cache.

Accompanied by one of the 2 Dudez, I made my way across and collected the various clues. Not too difficult at this point.
Alas, my GPSr was pointing some 15-20m away from the actual hide location.
I probably would have ended up there (especially after I read the hint), but the Dude was kind enough to send me in the right general direction and stood back and taunted me while I checked out the various possibilities.
Wasn't really too long before I came up with the goods.
Took balloons, left splash bomb.
Thanks muitah. A cunning cache made all the trickier by the wedding photography going on in the background.

Attempted by Pete during an afternoon off work. I lost my compass somewhere at A whole HEAP of Trouble, Bonaparte or this cache. I then took ages retracing my steps for the rest of the day. This resulted in me finding only two caches (of an attempted three). If anyone comes across my compass I would love it back. It’s a Silva one with a red cord with a whistle attached. I can be contacted via email through Geocaching.com or by phone. My number’s on the Australian forums.
I found way points one and two easily. I however couldn’t find the final cache. The coverage under wet tress was very poor and by this stage I didn’t have a compass to help. After getting rather wet I decided to give up and search for the compass. I will contact the owner for help.
Thanks for showing me this part of Buninyong.

We found it seemingly easily once we reached the vicinity of GZ. Our calculations for WP2 had us a further 25m away but with a little logic tuned in with the name of the cache and we soon were working out the final co-ords.

Just like other teams we did something strange with our calculations, but eventually found WP2. Decrypting the clue didn't seem to help us much as we found it in another location - or maybe our measurements are different! Beautiful day - we could see Dawn from GZ. At any rate, we were very proud not to have to call the maccamob hint line! Have to agree - the camouflage is very impressive. Took push pins and left carabine hook. Great spot for lunch too.

Dear Muitah,
I logged your cache today at 3:40pm as the twentyfirst cache of thirty four on our Ballarat and Beyond Cache Bash with Dak and Embi. We found the first two waypoints easily but the cache itself could not be located as the only reception we could get near GZ was from one satellite and a stick (and I'm not so sure about the satellite). We went outward ever increasing our search area, before finally calling Maccamob for directions. The first sign of getting close was finding a good pen (not the one I lost at Devilled Cache though that would have been creepy) and it turned out to be right above the cache which I only located by hand and not eye. As previously noted when we went to put the cache down, I actually lost sight of the lid because of the camo, but it turbed out to be sitting right beside the cache . Thanks for the cache. Due to reception and camo, this was definitely the hardest for the day (with the possible exception of one of Embi's later).

Twentieth of twenty-six cache finds in company with embi and Rabbitto. We had been logging caches at a fast clip all day. No DNFs, no real problems finding them. And then we arrived at Buninyong! We gathered the numbers at the first waypoint, and constructed coordinates for what I assumed was the cache. When we arrived, I thought, "What? In there?" However embi and Rabbitto put me straight, and we gathered the rest of the numbers. Then the fun began.
As noted by others, GPS reception is horrible at GZ, and we found ourselves searching in three different areas. Then we searched in three other, different areas, and so on. We concentrated some effort on 'the obvious spot', but to no avail. We decrypted the hint, but we had no specific reference to use it with. After more circling of the area, we decided to give the maccamob help line a ring. With this good information in hand, at least we knew where to look. Rabbitto knew he was getting close when he found the pen from the cache, however, the camo on the cache is so good that he didn't find it until he actually touched it at 1540! We did the business. The funniest part of the exercise was when Rabbitto couldn't find the cache lid, even though it was sitting right beside the cache. That's what I call great camo! Thanks to muitah for the cache, and thanks to maccamob for helping us to maintain our perfect record today (even if it was a GAFF4 on this one).

This one was difficult. Not only did we wander round and round trying to find it but when I rang the maccamob line for some clue, it too dropped out. Maybe buninyong has some fear of radio waves....hmm I might have noticed a tin foil hat out there today. GREAT CAMO. Nice location. Thanks guys. Took a cheesecake book, Left Solar Calculator

Found by Roma and Max.
This was an interesting place to visit, and popular by the numbers here on a weekday.
Once again today wpts 1 & 2 were in good satellite reception areas, but GZ was very patchy. We also sought some help from Navescapes, who advised us to extend our search area, and with the help of the clue we were ultimately successful.
We took a Seal Puzzle Key Tag and left a Mondo Figurine.
Thank you muitah,
from Romax.

We had a couple of goes at this one, the overhead trees made the GPS go crazy. The final location was a bit out on both GPSrs we were using.
A phone call through to the Navescapes Helpline had us in the general area, and a bit more searching had the cache in our hands.
Swapped TB Marlin for TB Rocket.
Great cache container. We were talking about hiding one at this locale a while ago.
Great to see another cacher in the area, hope to find some more of yours soon.

Found by Mary & David at 1615. A beauty. We've been here before for another cache, but can't recall the details. Glad to have a reason to return. The satellites weren't being very cooperative today, and final GZ was jumping about all over the place. Even when we had it narrowed down, still took a while to find the well-hidden cache. Took cotton buds, left book of cheesecake recipes. Also left TB 'The Rocket' to re-fuel. Our thanks to muitah for providing an interesting cache for our 2500th geocaching.com cache.
we had been to busy lately to do any caching when we received a tip off from 2dudez regarding a first to find that they were having trouble with and needed another opinion on whether there calculated co ordinates were right. off we went , after our calulations took us to the general location we search for quite a while before locating the cache. it is almost impossible to get a reading at GZ but the hints were helpful and at least we were looking in the right area. Thanks muitah a well hidden cache.
