WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 42 - York area day. I started by trying to do the caches along the rod back to the FOTT 4wd series. All of my roadside caching was a bit mixed today. There was a huge amount of rain forecast, so at every turn I was trying not to be too far into the bush to get out if it began In the end it did not rain until dinner time. All my changes in plans were not really required. I did fit in a brief section of the 4wd trail and two caches along another bush track that was fun. Then it was back to roadside caches on the other side of York. My caching day finished with the Labs that were billed as a walking tour, but were spread out enough for me to just drive to most of them. I had a late lunch before going back to the van to log yesterdays caches and then going into town for a late afternoon drink. Now it is raining pretty steadily as I log today's caches and I hope it eases off tomorrow for my drive to Wandering.I wanted to try for the Talbot cache, and this was along the way. I was happy the weather was holding and it did not look that far along the track. The track was mostly smooth, just one bumpy run up a small hill. The short walk over the hilltop seemed longer than indicated, but I soon found the huge cache, just sitting there all by itself. Thanks for the cache Chwiliwr47525.23 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & April OZ Mega 2019 A#395**Albida**

A plan was made in January for a caching day on the March long weekend. Today is the day! So here we are out tackling the 4WD FOTT trail and other caches in the area with Sir Fancy, Lachlan1.77, I C Nothing, Cirrus_WA and Geotrakka. Some logs signed SLICK Gs. TFTH!

The “SLICK G’s” hit up the FOTT trail for a long weekend adventure. Rendezvous was in Sawyers Valley at 6.30am. Team GLICKs was comprised of Geotrakka, Lachlan1.77, I C Nothing, Cirrus_WA and Kapelula. Thanks to all the COs, and in particular the FellowshipOfTheTrail, for today’s entertainment.

After completing the series we headed north knocking off a few oldies and some off the regular beaten track caches. It was good to clear some of these before we get to the wet part of the year.

Parked up on the track and enjoyed a pretty short stroll in to find the cache, which was in good condition. Nice views from around here. Great to tick off another oldie! Cheers Chwiliwr! Big Grin

Join me at the 10th anniversary of WAGB in Narrogin on Friday 2 June to Monday 5 June 2023. There’ll be plenty of geocaching fun to be had, I can’t wait to see you there!

Heading out today with the crew and Signing as SLICK G’s today (SirFancy, Lachlan177, I C Nothing, Cirrus_WA, Kapelula and Geotrakka)

This is my 4378 find.
Thank you Chwiliwr for placing and maintaining this cache.

Up before the sun to drive to a meeting area to meet up with Kapelula, ICNothing, CirrusWA, Sir Fancy and Lachy1.77 to team up and polish off the remainder of the FOTT4WD trail and hopefully others along the way. Ive been waiting for this opportunity or a while now. Signing as SLICKGs
I had to read the description again here as I got excited that chwiliwr may also be an admirer of Talbot photography - silly me its Mt Talbot!
The views here however are equally as beautiful as the famed images by Talbot.
Thanks chwiliwr

Walked in from the northern side and scratched our way through the scrub.
Once at GZ container was spotted without issues and we headed on our way.

Spending the day out in the hills grabbing the FOTT GO BUSH 4WD series.
The planning started in December and this was the first weekend that was available and so the date was set.
Early in the morning the SLICK G’s (SirFancy, Lachlan1.77, I C Nothing, Kapelula, Geotrakka & myself) met up in Sawyers Valley and piled into the 4x4’s and headed in.
It was an amazing day out with all caches found without issues.

Thanks Chwiliwr for placing Talbot for me and others to find.
I added my name to the log at 16:01 on 5/3/2023.
This is find number 6881 for me.

Mr OOH YEH headed out with Barnzy12 to clear up the rest of the FOTT caches. With a very early start it didn't take long to find the last of the caches then they headed out to grab a few more in the bush. They noticed some caches get published so decided to try there luck at them but had to be happy with 2nd to find on all of them. Thanks to all the CO,S for placing these caches

03-Apr-19
The weather didnt hold off today! We headed out in the rain to complete the 4wd FOTT Go Bush series. On our way out we heard that Goomalling had received golf ball sized hail. We continued on with some trepidation.

As we approached the Nature Reserve we were driving through puddles and leaf litter, little water crossings and water falls were appearing at the roadside. It was odd to see the foam appearing in the water. Hmmm what is today going to hold for us.

After successfully completing the series we crossed Talbot West Road and headed off to see what other caches we could find. More puddles but the roads were in pretty good condition until we approached Wandabiniring rocks and had to turn back.

Out and about with Kyzabra today giving the new wheels a workout and picking up a cache or two along the way. Have to say the Trusty Triton performed admirably.

Bit of a stroll to get here but the cache was easy to spot once at GZ. Nice views from this location as well, thanks for bringing us here.

Chwiliwr I found your cache at 11:30am, this was the 8th of 13 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 4831. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

Headed out today with Granett. He had mentioned to me a few weeks ago a trip was needed and who was Intonsay No?

A few caches on the radar and we thought we’d “check out the scenery”

In the area so we headed over and grabbed this one.

Chwiliwr, Kyzabra found your cache Talbot, on 7/7/18. The cache is in good shape and we replaced it as found. Thanks for placing this and bringing us to this spot!

I headed over to WA to visit my sister and my new niece. Today we all decided to head out for a drive to York and cache along the way. We found 20 for the day. Not too bad with a newborn in tow.

Had to do a bit of '4wd driving' to get here then a 130m bush bash to the cache. All the while thinking that we do t have reception out here and what if we get bogged. No need to worry. Made it safe and sound. This was 900 for the year so far. TFTC

Out and about with Barnzy12, catching up on logging from the last 2 weeks. Either as i didn't have reception on phone to load up a cache or didn't have an archived saved list. TFTH TFTC

A huge day out today around the wandoo conservation area, mount dale recreation area and the mundaring state Forrest. Huge days caching which really buggered us out, collecting a really solid days caching under the belt, not huge numbers but seeing some awesome places and unique locations.

We planned a mega days caching around these parts but with a late start after the gym this morning and the roads being a little harder to navigate than planned things took a bit longer.

We saw some lovely rocky outcrops, beautiful Forrest, and some beautiful scenery.

Found all caches we attempted today, some 17 finds, all in good condition, a large number of them were ammo tins which was great to see and thankfully no micros!

We finished the day grabbing another of the legendary wandoo series we have somehow managed to miss on our initial two day forray into the series when we were newbies, and our subsequent 15,000 combined finds since, so was nice to knock off more of the series.

Will be back soon to complete the remainder of he caches closer to York including the cluedo series and the caches around mount dale recreation area. Thanks for a great day out!

Good Walk here struggled to find a way in before reading the listing. Think most of the roads around here go by the same name

I have driven Talbot road many times but never knew there was a hill with the same name. I love exploring this area so jumped at the chance to tag along with Bristag to grab some out of the way caches. Great spot to visit. Thanks for bringing us out here

After a long period longing to get out this way to find the GC and GCA caches I teamed up with trsang and we hit the bush trails.
Parking up nearby we wandered over to check out the views (and the cache of course) but this place is amazing and whilst taking it all in tr's son found this one before we could blink.
On the way to this cache I found a survey marker which i miss took as a trig point until i opened the GCA app to log it.

Thanks again for bringing us to this amazing spot Chwiliwr and tr's son claimed the trackable prize left for the next finder.

Cache is in great condition, but you already new that Smile

Headed out for a day of exploring the bush around Mt Observation, this was one of the caches we found along the way... The boys all headed to this one, whilst I made lunch & this time it was Master 4 to make the find here Smile We enjoyed this spot & our picnic was great, as the flys have strangely disappeared... Perhaps it was the approaching storm that has scared them away Razz

Out for a drive in the country to pick up a few caches for the day. Found the track in a little tough for the car but managed to get there in the end, felt like quite a trek in. Stopped and enjoyed the views while I had a bite to eat before moving onto the next cache, I can hear it calling.

Out today with geobuddy Mark, hoping to clock up my 1500th cache. What better place to pick up a few easy finds than Yarra Road. Took a little detour to make for a special cache I was saving for my 1500th find near here. Grabbed this one while I was here. Thanks Chwiliwr

17-Aug-12
We drove in Via Catchment road. No problems for a 4wd but could be an issue if you had low clearance.
Its great to see a real cache and a full sized ammo box too.
We were in the process of doing the large Power Trail and this was a short deviation on the journey.
It would make a good overnight location for those that are ready to camp out.
We took the VB Bug and will drop him into the Event cache today in Perth. That should give him lots of travel possibilities.
Thanks for the cache and the short off road drive.

According to our reckoning this is our 600th cache find. The last time we were up here was during a night Rogaine. We missed a control and were slightly lost. As I told Bel at the time we are still good navigators because we at least knew we were lost. The intersection at the top was where we re-found ourselves on the map and off we went again. Interesting enough to a conrol down in the gully and then down the road and across to Pony Hill.

This seemed a fitting spot to release the first BelKen Geocoin into the wild.

Thanks for the cache
