Out for a drive showing the coast with a new visitor. Out with Luciferslanlord. Great cache. Great location. Nice drive up. Thanks for placing the cache.
Found with Diablo1234 while exploring. We stopped and took some drone photos from the observation deck. One hell of a view.
Found while on our way out of Bendethera after a few days camping. Nice to be lured here to find a cache, hence a FPTFTC
I've been staying in Tuross for a few weeks, and as a somewhat keen mountain biker, had been exploring a lot of the trails in the area. For my last ride, I looked for something super challenging and saw via Strava that you could ride to the top of Hanging Mountain. Once I decided it looked like an awesome target, had a check on geocaching to see if there were any caches nearby - and what do you know - one right there! w00t Came via Western Boundary Road and then Little Sugarloaf road. All very rideable (but steep!), and would all be 2 wheel driveable, except for maybe the last couple hundred metres where it got somewhat rough.Had a look at the view, took a photo, ate a muesli bar, then looked for the cache. J+J.au's replacement photo was very useful - the vegetation has grown in the meanwhile, and it might have taken a while to find it otherwise. Finally, 1000 days+ unfound - nice.
Headed into Bendethera for the CBR long weekend and took a drive out here to shoe my muggle mate the views (and find a cache). We spent about 5mins looking before I spotted a likely spot and there is was, although a small one now. TFTC
This cache has been on the visit list for sometime, just finding the time. This week end we had Wilbert67 visiting and decided to head up the mountain.
Due to the fires we weren’t sure what we would find.
The roads up was freshly graded, there are plenty of black trees, the regrowth is giving it a new look. It will take many years for bush to resemble what it was.
As we climbed up looking down the sides was a bit scary. At GZ the new growth looked amazing the plants the require a burn to flower we’re in fine form, so many great speciments.
The NP workers have layed down new steps and are working on the viewing platform.
At GZ and all around there was no sign of the cache, we had a replacement with us as we had a hunch it would no longer be there.
We rehid a replacement with the COs permission.
What an adventure.

Joint up with J+J.AU for this adventure. Quite an overcast this morning while we drove to Moruya. Then we turned onto the roads less traveled. Kilometers of really nice country driving slowly changing into national park scenery with views getting better and better. We made it all the way up in the 2WD. The road was good and maintained after the fires, but all around us was still massive evidence of the devastation. The views haven't been affected luckily!

Took a few wrong turns to get go the Hanging Mountain but eventually we got there. Once we got there everything was burnt from the terrible bushfires so we couldn't find the geocache so you might want to check if it's still there.
Wow. I don't know how many times we have driven past here and never even noticed the turn off. Brilliant place for morning tea as we wander the fire trails through these remarkable mountains. TFTC TNLN SL

Went for a drive around the Bodalla State forest today. After finding Comerang Mountain trig it was a long drive around Comerang Rd to German Creek Road and then up here. I decided not to take the 4WD route through Cols Link Rd since I'm a 4x4 n00b. Lovely spot up here. The only people we saw were in the car park here. Cache was found pretty quickly. Loved finding a 10 YO cache that hadn't been found in a year.
Thanks The Mountain Goat

The cache was just sitting out in the open! We re-hid it close to the original co-ordinates. The hint stays the same!
Driving out from Bendethera, we have not been this way before. This is a lovely spot with a fantastic view. Thanks for bringing us here.
While passing through we picked this cache up. What an excellent place to be, great vies and a top 4 x 4ing experience. We love this area, but had to leave early as advised by the ranger as 40 people got stranded last week. A must to come back sometime!!
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

A quick detour on our 4WDing route that we planned. Very cold but it was worth the view! TFTC!
A long drive but worth every minute when you see the view that awaits. A great cache container. TFTC
Found on a cool afternoon with the views unfortunately spoilt by smoke haze from bush fires to the west. TFTC
Quite a drive to get here - more than expected - and a bit hazy - but definitely worth it.
Picked this up on the way out from a weekend trip in Bendethra. Was running out of time and fuel so thought we woudl head back out via Moura.
Couldn't resist another cache on te way out...
Not many views to be had today but what beautiful yet eerie site in the thick thick thick fog

Next stop on my first 4WD-ing adventure: a trip down to Bendethra for the long weekend with Doppelfrog, JManJezza and the Jezza-mites. No sign of mountains but a lot of fog hanging about. Completely white from the viewing platform down!
Out on a caching expedition with BatgirlandCo, Jmanjezza and some junior Jmanjezzas.
Come to Hanging Mountain they said, the views are amazing they said... [:-)]
And if the visibility was more than 10 meters (thanks to the fog) I'm sure they would have been!
We did find the cache tho' without too much trouble.
Fortunately this one is close enough to Moruya to be accessible on another (sunny) day to appreciate the views.

Wow! What a view. Spectacular on a bright sunny day. Took a while to get there and to get back using a different route. Thanks.
Revisited this beautiful spot for a quick BBQ with Newbie Palmers. Took TB Sailors Paradise. Left our pathtag. Sad to see not many visits since last visit.
It was a wet day when made this journey, be very careful on the roads as it can be very slippery in areas. When we arrived the mountain was covered in fog which was eerie, beautiful and peaceful. We still had a picnic couldn't see anything but then fog moved on and showed us this spectacular view very worthwhile. Thank you Mountain Goat we look forward to our next journey find your caches PS please watch your geokiddies as we still saw a snake in this damp humid weather.
Found with the geokids at the end of the day of our 4WD trip. We watched the fog roll in from the viewing platform and had a very late lunch as it got dark. Left TB. TFTC.
Spectacular views from lookout. Could see Montague Island. Didn't come up to look for cache but with phone reception, searched and found the coordinates. Took coin left a marble and frog. Good hide. Our biggest & best cache. Thanks

Staying at a friends house on Bumbo Road and decided to see how far the road goes - with motorbikes to get around the many fallen trees on the fire trails that is a long way. Hunger set this cache as our turn around point, nice area and an easy find. Grabbed the TB, TFTC.
Out with the GeoDad looking for a quick find. Thanks for the cache. Left PathTag and took GC.
Found with the geoson on a quick dash to a phone point to phone the family for christmas. TFTC
Out with the family on a Sunday drive to pick this one up. Drove up from Turros, via Turlinjah and old Mill road, Italian mine road, Western Boundary road then the rest of the way on Little sugar loaf road.
Good dirt roads all the way, But it was also a steady climb all the way too. The last couple of KMs particularly.
We took along a little lunch and made a picnic of it. Only one table and no BBQs bu the viewing platform is solid and well maintained.
The weather was clear if not a little cool and windy so the views were extensive.
The views south are spectacular so we spent a little time trying to identify all we saw. I’m sure I can see BEGA…….
Thanks for getting us up here. I never knew it existed. This now opens up a whole new area of exploration.
Dropped off the DORA bug.

Called in to check out the view with some friends all was good with the cache.
We had to use our imagination and guess what the views would have been like as it was thick fog - see pics.
It's a lovely drive up here though but we had a hairy moment on the way back down after hitting a bump on a bend and losing the back end!
We'd like to return here again one day when the views are better.
Thanks,
The Hancock Clan

Certainly a beautiful drive up here from Nerrigundah and Coman's Mine. Beautiful scenery, just what I like - a cache that takes you to a special view or similar. Nice full cache as well. This would be an easy drive in a 2WD (except maybe the last little bit into the lookout that is a bit rough) unless it has been raining. Recommended for the views.
Did the deed, grabbed the clues and onwards. Thanks Mountain Goat.

This one was supposed to be a quick drive-by but due to Team Maxi's superb driving skills we spent half an hour here changing a flat tyre on the Sloppy Jalopy, great views thanks

The 10th of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour and this is one of those amazing spots that we would've driven straight past if it wasn't for The Mountain Goat, the views from here are outstanding, you can see for miles up and down the coast which I was really surprised about being so far inland, great to read about the heritage of the area too. As usual the cache was quickly found only metres from where we parked and we took poor old Crispy the Penguin as it seems he's been stuck in here forever, left nothing SL TFTC

An unsealed road...with hired campervan...not supposed to drive on unsealed roads...but we did and it was GREAT! (Hope Apollo isn't too mad at us, the van is still alive though...)

Another great spot if only you could see more than 5 meters in front of you...I am constantly surprised as the money being spent by National Parks in out of the way places. Most people would cruise straight past here. I took a walk over to the edge and could just make out the tops of the trees below, that sure is a long way down. The path sure ends in a hurry. No wonder the SES practice out here. Good to know that if I ever fall off a cliff while fighting a fire I'll be in good hands.
The best thing was the rather patriotic Australian flag still in the cache, considering it was Australia Day thought this was somewhat fitting![:d]
Thanks Mountain Goat for showing us this place, now where is that road...

PLEASE NOTE: New South Wales SES will be conducting vertical rescue training at the location of this cache on Saturday 26th August, accordingly the cache will be unavailable from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
Well well well I pulled up at this location and who do I see, but all my friends from Moruya SES. I walk over to where they're all hanging around and say Hi to Rod, Peter and co. After we stop laughing at why friends are meeting at such a remote location I tell them I'm hear caching, and they're here setting up for the vertical exercise which I'm suppose to be attending.
Anyway while I chatted, Mrs Rat found the cache and did the swaps. Could I suggest MG that you dont make the cache unavailable next weekend as all my fellow Wollongong SES members who are also cachers will be here next weekend and I know one of them wants the coin I left in the cache.
Another great spot MG, pity I wont be back next weekend but I've mapping assessments to do.

foggy and raining could not see veiw great spot thanks mountain goat took compass left horse.
On our way out of bendethra we stopped in to check out the view and find the third in this top series. As it turns out one of the 4X4's parked within 1 metre of the container and was found by a liv one of the new people to the game. TNLN I think. Anyway after a quick bite to eat it was off to see some blokes knob that may require some laser treatment. Thanks again, Greg.
After two caches found already, competition to find this third one was high. Greg and myself both went out hard, but it was geomuggle Liv who shammed us all and came up with the goods. Brilliant lookout! Thanks Mountain Goat!
This was our third cache for the day and also our lunch stop and also our pit stop for a tyre change. Upon arrival at this cache we realised that we picked up a puncture in one of our Coopers some where between here and Shite Hill. This is a beautiful spot and well worth the effort to come up here. It is a shame the NSW State Forests are doing some burn offs in the area spoiling what would have been the perfect view still having lunch up here was quite pleasant.
Took Batteries (as GPS was complaining of flat batteries and spares were some where in amongst all the other junk in the back)
Left Stubby Holder and Ruler

After an early breakfast we pack the car and set off for the drive home, after a few creek crossings we are ascending another hill but at least we know what lies ahead.
Once out of the valley we are greeted by a strong wind, which is blowing bark and branches of the trees. We are finally able to use another gear rather then just first and second so make excellent time and soon arrive at Hanging Mountain turn off. After the cache stuff is out of the way we take in the strenuous walk to the lookout. We are soon rewarded with outstanding vistas but it’s a tad chilly with that wind blowing from the south so it’s back in the car to go check out some guy’s knob.

Grabbed this on the way back from 'Nice Drive.' Probably the best cache container I've seen to date! TNLN
Number three. I decided to go round via Morouya rather than to the whole firetrail. It may not have been quicker, bit I felt safer being alone. The NPWS put tourist stuff in the oddest of places. It is a very dramatice spot, but no more worthy than many others of such a fancy lookout platform. Oh well, so long as we can still go there. Off to the final in this series.

We were camping nearby at Bendethera and so it was not too far to travel to this cache. A very impressive container and contents. Took lizard which the kids loved and left cat toy/jingling ball.
We were just able to see Montague Island in the mist. A great spot for caching. Thanks.
