well what a top spot for a cache and a tucker up ,it also has a very good view of the broadsound ,signed the log at 11:30am but the container needs replacing did not have one of appropriate size log is in plastic ziplock bag and in another container inside original, TFTC
We parked near the picnic table. And walked through the bush to G.Z. soon added our name to the sheet. Replaced cache as found. We had an enjoyable easy walk back to the car. Tftc
Very cool old one.The trail is basically non existent so bush whacking was in order and the ability to drive closer has long been overgrown.Park by the picnic table. The plaque gives the interesting history.Hard to imagine the horse and wagons coming up that hill.Great view up here and zilch on the trafficThanks for keeping it alive. Drained a bit of water out of the old container. Inner container is good.Tftc.
Driving past Stopped for a look And did some minor maintenance New temp container in the old
That was some drive up the hill - glad it was bitumen! Shame the Inn isn't still around.

As you say, it took an hour and well worth the trouble. A very pleasant drive in the country-side. Glad I didn’t have to walk up that hill to the cache . Mr Schneider sure picked a top spot for the inn. Thanks for showing us this bit of history ‘dandent’.
Great spot for morning tea and great to read a bit of history here too

This is the second day of the drive from Brisbane to Townsville and today I, along with Fangsoki, Crew 153 and 1MinnieMoo are doing the Rockhampton to Mackay leg. I've never driven north of Rocky, so this is all new to me. But, I'm in the backseat today, meaning even the notorious Marlborough stretch goes by quickly as I read and write.
Being an older beast, this geocache and detour was on the list, as some of us hadn't found it before. I am one of them, obviously, and have never found geocaches in the Isaac LGA before today. I watched out the window as we powered along the detour, west from the highway. Of course there was dirt - no issue. Then bitumen for the steep climb.
I don't know what I expected out here, but a steep climb up to a fantastic view wasn't what I had in mind. Very welcome though! At the now picnic area, I took a moment to read of the history, then it was Crew 153 and I who wandered down the little track towards GZ.
At the right spot, I made a quick find. Nice hide, good container, lovely location. This is why I love older geocaches. We trekked back and I grabbed some photos to the south. I could spend time here! But onwards to whichever geocache is next on the list, or looking enticing on the map! Thanks for showing me this place, dandent

An 8 day roadtrip to Townsville and back to Brisbane in the Fangsoki Pajero with the usual cast of cachers.
On day 2 we made the detour off the highway to this cache. It was left to Captain Terror and myself to locate the cache as the others had found it previously. It was a quick find for the more agile Captain.

Well this one was a treat. I’ve been zigzagging my way back up to Townsville from Brisbane after attending my Aunty Meg’s funeral. My brothers think I’m nuts and bought a plane ticket as soon as i mentioned geocaching on the way back. I bet he would have loved this road though. Needs to be a WRC stage.
This was a Jasmer target and nice to see it was placed by a cacher that is still active. His second placement too. Nice one dandent. Old logbook is still in it but the spiral is pretty fragile now, as is the container. The corner that is most sun affected, depending which way it is replaced is heat affected and both are cracked but no complaints about the log. Hasn’t let water in lately.

1MinnieMoo were en route to Mackay - and we thought it would be plain rude not to stop off and grab this old cache. Besides, the drag between Rockhampton and Mackay is still incredibly boring!
I was impressed with the quality of the dirt road.. and then suddenly heading very up on bitumen. We arrived at the car park. We found the plaque and had a read before heading toward the cache.
After stepping carefully through the bush we arrived at GZ - and soon found the prize. And a grand old prize it is. This cache is currently is the 263rd oldest cache in Queensland (there was another placed on the same date).
Happy to have this one crossed off - and an interesting area. TFTC dandent

8/10/21 Find #4997
Fangsoki and I set off from Brisbane at 2am to begin our adventures. However to maximise on our Far North Queensland road trip, today was more about distance than caches.
However that did not mean we weren’t going to stop (or slightly detour) for the odd cache or two that were worthy. And this cache certainly met that criteria.
We pulled in near the picnic table, a little way from the truck driver who had also decided to stop, but he had stopped his truck on the side of the road near the table, ready to begin his hilly descent. Before heading over to the cache, we checked out the plaque. An interesting little history spot here. And upon making our way through and finding the cache, a nice original logbook was discovered as well.
Thanks for the cache dandent.

In the area today as I head north and picking up caches along the way and this was one of them. Started at Marlborough Rd and did the loop finishing at St Lawrence and then back to camp at Marlborough. A great adventure!
After a DNF on the other nearby cache headed to this one. Looked like a great area to camp and I drove to within 40mtrs of the cache. Nice to see an old logbook and a well hidden hide.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for me and others to enjoy.

We are currently travelling along Queensland’s coast to see and snorkel with humpback whales in Hervey Bay. Of course some target caches were also on the list of must do’s along the way. It was a great pleasure getting this cache, especially such an old cache. Very steep road up here, but the view is nice. Thanks a lot for placing and keeping it alive
The track in to the cache is now quite overgrown, and the view from there is totally obscured by the trees, but the cache is still there and fine.
We are staying in our van at St Lawrence. A lovely spot to came at the wetlands reserve. Hot showers, clean toilets, not crowded and it’s cheap! The only thing we were disappointed with was when we get free or very cheap camping we like to spend some money in the area to say thank you and to help out the local economy. However after driving around the town neither the pub or the store appeared to be open. A shame.
We have just come from Yeppoon where we spent the majority of our time trying to solve and then find a lot of Termingi’s diabolical hides. We were relatively successful, but did need to consult the guru a number of times. Good for our numbers, but not so good for our sense of achievement. We set out looking for an easier day today, and we haven’t been let down. Other than the potholed road, dodging cattle, kangaroos, a tawny frogmouth running across the road, other assorted wild life, fresh cow pats, some great views and steep stretches it was a pretty uneventful drive!
We would like to thank all the local CO’s for putting out this series. Without you blokes we wouldn’t have this fantastic pastime, and all our lives would be poorer for it. We really appreciate your efforts.

Found as I meandered my way from Adelaide to Cairns.
With no real travel plan and three weeks to get there before I meet up with friends, there has been plenty of opportunity for sightseeing and finding a few selected caches along the way.
I was headed towards Mackay (in a roundabout way) and was running out of daylight and needing somewhere to camp. I read somewhere that the site of Schneider’s Inn was a possible spot, and offered some excellent views at sunrise, so I headed up there. I ended up having the place all to myself for the night and was not disappointed by the outlook in the morning!
I grabbed one nearby cache soon after I arrived, and wandered over to this one in the morning.
The cache was a quick find. Although the container seems to have been waterlogged at some stage, the logbook and contents were dry today. The cache container remains in good condition.
Thanks dandent for the cache.

This was part of my road trip to Townsville, with an unexpected leave from work off I went to do a few days of caching, grabbing a few special ones along the way. This was day two of my trip and the aim was to continue grabbing some old caches and be in Townsville by lunchtime Sunday.
Well my trip took a short detour to grab this one and for an older cache. I parked not far from the cache and then started my walk around to search for this one. I had no problems looking around as there was no one around here today. I found the cache very easily, thanks for placing this one here, with the log signed and cache replaced as found I was then on to continue north. All good with this cache.

Hi there dandent.
Today we headed out from Mackay with Rainforest Cookie so we could attempt the remainder of the VC series, some of the Marlborough Trail - but we also had to find this one. As it's not part of the series it deserves a finely crafted log, not one of the crappy cut-n-paste ones that usually are associated with power trails.
We found 54 caches today & DNF'd 1. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels. Thanks also for not placing a mint tin or a 200ml Sistema here. It made us feel really good to find this "special" cache here.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Tftc dandent, had to pass on the way out as muggle was at the picnic table. All clear on the way back and walked down the track to the end. Not many vehicles have used this for a while.
At GZ made the find. Admired the view and read a few entries in the 11Y/O log book.
Thanks for showing us this historic spot.

Grey Nomads travelling around Australia - more recently, just Queensland, and of late, heading up the Bruce. Today with our snail firmly based at St Lawrence, we headed up the big hill to have a go at the VC Power Trail. With our fridge full of food, and our apps and gps charged up, we set off. In all today, we found 54 caches and DNF 0, which we were pretty happy with. 200 k round trip!
This cache was nabbed on the way home. Found after a nice little walk.
(Last time we were in St Lawrence, many years ago, pre-caching, we drove to this point and had picnic lunch)

No old track to be seen and high grass everywhere. No sign of an easy walk to GZ 150m away, we didn't try
what a beautiful spot tftc you would need a beer by the time you got here. log is very wet
We came across your cache, dandent, on our way with youngoldfella, caching towards this year's QOGM in Barcaldine.
Nice little and pleasant walk to GZ. It looks a long way down to the valley below!

On my way to Barcaldine for QOGM 2018 . Left Nanango at 0225 and this was the next stop of the day. Good quick find. Going to Rockhampton to meet up with RoddyC and Mrs RoddyC some time this afternoon then heading to QOGM 2018 via the coast and across to Clermont. Signed log YOF as that is what I use on small and Micro log sheets/books to save space on the paper as I tend to write on the big side. Apologies for boiler plate logs as I have a lot to write up. Parked near the Cairn and walked the short distance through the bush to GZ. TFTC Nedandmrskelly
It was after sunset as I passed by and Schneiders' Inn already had occupants for the night. Camp fire burning and dinner on the table. This one will have to wait for another day.
Make sure you wear shoes for this one. No thongs! Lots of funnel web spider holes and good snake country@ Beautiful view and an interesting part of history. TFTC.

Found it, a nice little argument with the lantana on the way in, in shorts, oh look, a cleared track, maybe we'll walk out that way, duh! Some spectacular scenery through here, and I wonder how they got the beer in here? Must have wanted a cold drink by the time they got it up to thus inn. Thanks for bringing us here. Did a swap and S. Had a very enjoyable, at time geo challenging afternoon along this road find ( and sometimes DNF) caches along the way. What beautiful country this is.
was going past, and I had a bit of time
so decided to do a maintenance run to the top ...
... and a few of Nedandmrskelly's caches on the way up
cache pretty much still OK
cleaned it up a bit, and separately bagged the new logbook and added a new cache note ...
needs a new pen, and didn't have spares on me
well guessing I will be coming past again ...
have to finish the Marlborough series one day
so restashed
job done - time to head down the hill ...
and have a look at the one I left on the way up

The hill was steep and we were defiantly not cruising to the top, Ratdog was insisting that we had missed the cache but i thought its one of Dan's. must be something else to see.
We turned into a well maintained picnic area, if you don't count the road entry, and decided to drive on. The grass was over high and ready to spear us, well it did several times.
A short stroll in the bush (amazingly no long grass here)took us to a cache. lid was off and we could see that water had been in but all was dry today. Signed the log and replaced.
Fav point for getting us here. had enough service to let home know where we were and not to expect us for dinner, it was after 4pm and we still have over 20 caches to find.
Amazing view here too.
Thanks Dan we broke out the strawberries and enjoy the view, piece and quiet before heading on.

An Inn must be time to get some food. I'm starving and with no idea where we are it might be a while to dinner. Luckily she had packed snacks for this trip home.

9:21:00 AM. We decided to leave our van at camp for a while and attempt this short trail of caches. Better half stayed with the car and took some photo's of the view while I made the walk. Found and signed. Interesting piece of history. Thanks dandent for placing this cache.

Very little traffic and plenty of parking made this a pleasant alternative to the Bruce hwy.
A nice spot for a cache, too bad old Schneider was not selling any cold refreshments today

Thanks Dan for taking us up to this area what a great view, we drove as far as we could then walked to the cache. Signed and replaced. Stopped to read about the Inn and take a photo. Get a fav.
It would have been quite a trip from Clermont back when Cobb and Co did the run. Even the trucks and the Morris Major would have struggled on the range. Great drive through a great country. Thanks Dandent and everyone for maintaining this cache. Thanks Ned for the pencil.
Bit of a scrub bash in damp conditions but finally got it. Nice detour on the drive south. Took TB left pathtag. TFTC
What a little gem, nice view. Would like to find out were the road went onto. Thanks for the cache.
Need to take a new pen as the other has run out, and with the two little Blue Heelers and the tropical weather it wasn't an option to go back and get another pen. Sorry guys.
Would be greatly appreciated if someone could go over our Blue Heelers Log.

worth the drive just for the view. truly a crazy hill climb. my great grandfather drove a horse drawn coach on this route. my father drove cattle trucks here when the road was gravel. apparently I went through here in a Morris Major as a child. Left Jabberjaw to admire the view. TFTC love these out of the way caches with history. have probably driven past here more than 20 times
quick trip down south to visit friends
stopped in to check on this one on the way home

cleaned it out

will revisit in a month or so, to revamp.

H found after scrub bashing through waist high wet grass. Container damp log dry. Removed some rusty items. Great drive through changing countryside and heaps and heaps of kangaroos. Loved the hill climb. Thanks for the history lesson.
Had an eye on this one for a while. We had travelled down from Townsville and was looking for somewhere to pull up for the night and this location seemed to fit the bill. We were very glad we made the effort as the location was perfect.
We wandered up to the cache location from the picnic tables and the cache was ok. There was a little water in the container and considering the rain has really just started it may be a bad omen. We attempted to clean the seal and hopefully the cache will last.
The picnic area was slashed and clean with a wheelie bin and table and chairs. We levelled the trailer up and stayed the night. Thanks or bringing us here.

I had been wanting to do this one for some time and finally had the opportunity on my way back to Mackay from Rockhampton. It is a good smooth gravel road. Didn't expect to see any traffic but saw one ute coming the other way while going to the cache, 2 coming the other way while driving back to the highway and was followed by one near the highway. It was a pleasant surprise to find the road up the mountain range is bitumen (I missed that part when I read the page) though it is steep. The view where the Inn once stood is spectacular. This is also where the bitumen road ends. It must have been a harrowing trip up and down the mountain range in the 1800s on horseback and bullock teams. Parked at the picnic table and set off through the bush to GZ. The coords. led straight to the cache. The hint was helpful as I spotted the cache straight away. One could see where the ants had built a nest on the cache container lid. There were no ants now and I placed the original logbook back in the bag with the present one. Signed the log, took the blue Howlite polished stone and left the SKF keyring. Thank you dandent for placing this cache. I love getting off the beaten track to look for geocaches. One note of caution however. When driving along the gravel road, keep an eye out for cattle and wildlife. The road is mostly unfenced. I saw 2 wallabies on the side of the road while driving to the cache and 3 herds of cattle on the way back to the highway. Also this is a cache that should be done during the drier months of the year as there are 3 creek crossings. The road would be impassable during the wet season.
This one has been on my list for a while but inclement weather had prevented a visit. Today it was all blue sky so drove up. Great views early in the morning & a quick find. The logbook was sodden so replaced it, dried out the cache & plastic bag, removed items that attract moisture, scrapped the mud away from the seal although container is on its last legs. The original logbook was left outside the container so the next person to visit might like to place it in a plastic bag. Great location, thanks.
I found this after a walk though tall grass, I decided not to ride my bike through it as I could not see the ground!
I found the cache easy enough, trying to extract it was a bit of a bother as the ants had built nest and it was cemented in place! I got it out and found it to be waterlogged, although not damaged in anyway, just the box does not have any seal so it had seeped in. The G string was an interesting find!

Nice view although a bit misty today, the creeks were up so it was a wet ride in as well, all fun though
I found the cache easy enough, trying to extract it was a bit of a bother as the ants had built nest and it was cemented in place! No. 30 in a great cache dash to Mackay. Late in the day (almost dark ) so I'll have to return to get a better look at the view. Fancy hauling loads down to the port !! You'd need a couple of trees to drag behind or the load would beat the bullocks to the bottom !!!TNLN TFTC
Great stuff Dan. I really like these type of caches, out in the bush, of historical significance, with great scenery or views and easy to find. This one has it all. Keep up the good work Dan. And now off to the Clermont Copper Fields that are part of this story in history.
Oops. Forgot to mention grabbed Tebbo's T/B

Great veiw and great road in. The hilux handled the hill with ease. left the tebbo's TB hopefully for a big trip up north.

We usually don't worry too much if we see a sign 'Road not suitable for caravans' when towing our camper. We made it to the top in hi-range 1st, just!!! and the Cruiser definitely wasn't singing "Oh what a feeling". Geowife cracked up completely on opening the cache to find Niki's nickers we wondered what a suitable swap would be.

In the book of LEDGIN'S. Found at 0900hrs. Interesting drive up the gravel road. It is in good condition - any vehicle would be able to negotiate it at the moment. Only trouble we had were the stubbon Brahman Cows and calves that did not really want to give us right of way even though we were bigger. The herd is a fine example of the Brahman breed.
I came this way about 4 years ago when I was investigating different roads to go from the coast to Blackwater. View is usually fantastic - however today it was spoilt by the haze left from this mornings fog.
