High winds and an enterprising ant colony have taken their toll on this one. Removed pending re-birth elswhere...

Easy find after using the PAF option, thanks Mike. Arrived after dark as recommended. Then had a devil of a time trying to locate the mystery sign, seems it has been extinguished. Thought like Wise Men and saw nothing. So we tried a brute force solution, but to no avail. (Had scouted out the area earlier in daylight). Decided to call the.pud, who confirmed our suspicions, so it was back up the hill yet again. Quickly found after that, and our efforts were rewarded by a pleasant surprise. Thanks for the effort and the brilliant idea, most enjoyable – and yes, the best effects are to be had after dark. Many thanks banaari for a most original idea.

Did the nightime bit a few nights ago, but wasn't really dressed for the final assault so came back in daylight to finish it off.

Now I will be forever wondering what the microswitch is for.

Another excellant Banaari cache, what next!

Wow, what a clever and different sort of cache. We found it with the Billhillies & Cheeky Girl and managed it in the daylight thanks to the excellent searching skills of the Billhillies. Can now understand how it would be so much easier to spot in the dark.

TNLN. Thanks for a very novel cache.

Thought we had better attempt this cache at near dusk as we had 3 young children with us. They were still delighted by the cache and managed the climb with skill - much better than us grandparents! Took the 2 geocoins. Thanks for a great cache.

9.10pm. A special thanks for this find has to go to nalawod for being brave enough to lend us his GPSr after both mine and JF’s came to their end while out at Screaming Seagulls. It was a slow walk to GZ as some of us had cuts and grazes.
Got to GZ and followed instructions, soon all was revealed and we made our way to the real GZ.
In our haste to open the box we at first missed the Christmas surprise, but a truly magical sight it was.
Despit the warnings from JF and possible from injuries sustained during the day, I also tunmled down the back on our return. But don’t fear banaari I didn’t take the surprise with me. [:d]
Thanks for once again placing a great cache in the Far North.

Arrgh... the website doesn't know it's 1/1/2008 in NZ... Sorry to hear about the tumble JF; very glad the only damage was to expendable bits & not your good self (kikuyu grass to the rescue?). The Flying Squad (myself + the labradora lickipuppia) visited the site this morning and carried out the necessary engineering work. All good Smile The Crow geocoin is still in there, too.

9.45pm. Approached, together with Monkey-business, over the hill which was itself an expedition in the dark and after getting the fix at GZ retraced some of our steps. Felt we were re-enacting the Christmas story following the sign to the east! A really uniquely different style of cache. Many thanks for your great effort Banaari. The find was straightforward after a short scramble in deep grass. What a surprise! Added a Christmas sock and Christmas shell decoration. Took nothing. Signed log. Couldn't see our Lucky Black Crow coin - presume an earlier visitor today.
Then our luck truly ran out and the fun really began. As JF was replacing the cache feet slid, tree branch snapped and the next thing he was head over heels down the hill 10 or 20 feet. The torch went out!! Teddy the dog lost its nerve!!No bones broken but unfortunately the branch that came with JF for the ride had the decorations on it!! In the pitch dark a repair job was out of the question. Terribly sorry Banaari but we shall go back in the daylight next year and endeavour to repair.
TFTC thoroughly enjoyed.

Our fourth for the day was destined to be a twilight affair. Joining torch resources with Just Flondering we scambled up hill and down dale mistaking a straight line as the quickest route (in the dark??). Ignoring the new years eve fire works we were drawn like moths. Cache revieled and ferries set free. Paperwork completed and cache re-placed when JF made a wish apon a star beliving that ferries could really fly. Alas the ferries were gone and gravity prevailed bringing everyone back to earth with a crash. Will follow up in daylight to ensure ferries are recaptured.

This one was the last one for the day, and it was a cracker( mind the pun!).

Walked the long way to GZ, had been here a few days before, doing some other caches, got here just as darkness was setting in. Started walking in the required direction, looking here and there, imagination running wild, tired but excited too. After about 250 meters I noticed my direction had changed, so I checked the pda, decided to walk back to the given GZ, thats when I noticed a star, no....yes, it was "The Sign".... clambered up the grassy bank, yeah, there it is, used the phones torch, then when I opened the lid on this huge cache, some fairies came out to play!

Fantastic cache, loved it, didnt take the GC! Far to excited and wary, there where a few people out and about, lovely area, thanks very much! Added this to my most favs list!

[:d] Finally found on third attempt! Had an idea we were going to be lucky when a bright star appeared above the carpark leading us to the East - it was moving VERY FAST and so we took it to be the International Space Station which was due to be appearing on an occasional basis - and so we felt it was an omen for us. The cache is now appearing 'Christmas-like' as expected, so with a brief sojourn off the path it is easy (well, not too hard) to gain and complete the log. Left a small santa (didn't know the size of the cache) and only completed the log.

What a great idea, banaari - setting too high a standard I fear. Thanks for the FTF prize, too - it will be put to good use in 12 months time.

High winds the day after deployment seem to have upset a certain alignment. Reset, and beefed up the mounting. Good to go.
Also dropped off JF's Crow geocoin.

Two nights in a row and no luck so far. Thought we had the clues sussed, but will have to try again. A good hide so far, banaari Twisted
