In the area with AnyMules, brisal5 and 6Hinemoa2 signing all logs as BAB6 to save space in the log books or their personal stamp. This may be the ageing Bushfires last Mega as the effects of advancing MND continues to advance but as I said that after the Whittlesea Mega we will see.
I must thank my three mates for the help that I have received over the last couple of years for which I will always be very grateful.
This event was attended on our travels around this great area while attending the Mega Event in Rutherglen early April 2023.

Plans sorted for cache attack days, between ladder climbing, power trail grabs and the large amount of ad labs in the area. Not to mention the MEGA site visits and numerous other events to attend.

My stat's of finds started at 11,886 ?? before leaving home. Let's see what the final numbers are at trips end for the MEGA.

Found with Bonfire7, Loci612, Muppet95 and sebass19; signed as YTBJ ("Yeah the Boys" plus James0116). Great to nab a 2006 cache. Coords were out but cacher instincts kicked in and we had a likely looking spot. Great to find an ammo can. Beautiful nature area too. TNLNSL. TFTC Team RUB!

Had to convince the rest of the group that this cache was worth finding, and only make us 15 minutes late to the start of the lunch event back in town! Glad we managed to grab it, as it was the final cache for some distance out this way. A nice oldie too with the 2006 hidden date, and also the very first (and only) container of this type for the whole trip....!

Many thanks

**Rutherglen Mega Day 4**

The main goal of today was to complete the BBBT trail, on bikes! Big Grin
This was so much fun, it has been a while since I have cached by bike! And what better than to do it with a group of mates! Toy Hunters already had his bike booked, so we were hoping they would have enough bikes for the rest of us! Turns out nobody else had booked a bike this morning at all, so there was plenty for us to choose from! We smashed out the series well before lunch, thanks to the excellent coordinates and easy finds! We then started to pick off some odd caches around the place, before heading to the lunch event, and then spending the afternoon in Howlong to grab the virtual and a few other interesting ones nearby!

**Signed the log as YTB** for "Yeah the Boys" which for this cache included:
Bonfire7
Loci612
Muppet95
Toy Hunters

Thank you to all the CO's for today's cache finds!

TFTCteam RUB for your cache Moodermere Magic that we found today.
Day 5 on the Rutherglen Mega site. Today was a day to clean up the rest of the caches that we had planned to do as well as complete the remaining wineries in the AL. We had planned to complete the rail trail, so after a few other caches , Linda dropped me at Waygunyah and I cycled back to Rutherglen caching the BBBT series.

We had planned to find this one last year but rain and floods prevented this. Today all was good.

Find Count: 16190

"Just one more."

Well, just one more outing with n0w0rries +Wife before the long drive home... seeing how many of the trail of Wherigos we can log before the farewell event.

It turns out that the answer was fifteen, in just under an hour.

But of course, we had to go for...

Just one more.

Because how can we pass so close to a decent sized early cache without going for a squiz.

And it was totally worth it.

Thanks, Team RUB.

Caching the area with +Wife and nirgalagrin during our 2023 Rutherglen MEGA geocaching holiday.

After a bit of a rest back at the Holiday House (after having walkjed some of the bike trail) we set off again collecting some of the FTF explosion information and any other caches we came across along the way. This was one of them. Cache was a nice easy find as it was in the hands of other cachers lol. Here we met queenant and some brand new cachers who had started caching that day!!! We then headed further around to collect the FTF info and spent a while in the lovely spot chatting to queenant again Smile Back to the Closing Ceremony now!!

So here we go again. Another day of fun and frolicking with Tankengine, Youban and Mtrax.

We had more food, more drink, more socialising, more caching and more fun. It was another successful and great day.

This cache: We came, we sign, replaced and then admired the big tress and lake, before heading off.

Unfortunately the coords were 20m out today for us. And the hint was no help at all. Suddenly Tankengine popped up from behind a massive fallen over tree shouting Got It! Tftc.!!!

in town for the mega. I was out caching with Grub Fred, pprass, Lee737, Samuel737 & the_garbageman today, we had an awesome day, with lots of laughs and fun. We saw 3 snakes and a possum along with plenty of other wildlife as well. The weather was great not too hot or too cold and we found all the caches we attempted. This was a bonus cache we found while doing the wherigo series and it was a nice way to break things up a bit. The cache was found quickly but took a little bit to retrieve as it was pushed in a bit. As we snaked around (literally!) the backroads here chasing loads of wherigos, we stopped for some caches at a more leisurely pace.... We managed three around the lake here, such a nice spot.
This was a nice find. We trekked in from the road, and the kids crawled all over the log, dragging it out with a stick.... TFTC!

#17490 - 9:57:00 AM; Day 3 of the Rutherglen Mega mission. After a rainy night camped in the swag, the plan for today is to meet up with StrangeTrousers and iPlod65 to collect a few nearby LBH caches and then to tackle the "Easter 2023" geoart series, along with other odds and sods we encountered in our travels. After meeting up at the Mega site, we set off for a pretty full day of caching. Logs were signed STiPLL and while some of the roads were a little wet and slippery, I managed 133 finds, including 110 WiGs, 4 LBH, 4 Trads, 2 Events, 1 Unknown along with 10 Adventure Labs, the GPS Adventure Maze and only two DNFs for the day. All caches were found in good condition and replaced as found. Apologies for the largely generic logs! TFTC team RUB Smile

The Rutherglen Mega – Easter 2023
Big Grin This was another a-MAZE-ing Mega, hosted by Geocaching Victoria. Thanks so much, for bringing me here and for the enjoyment it has brought me over the weekend. Big Grin
Day #1 [6/4] – After a massive day of work, I headed off to my overnight stop in Culcairn. Along the way, I stopped off at an AL waypoint, in Henty. My only find of the day. Now time for some sleep and get ready for arriving at the Mega tomorrow. Big Grin
Day #2 [7/4] – Its Mega day! I started off the day by finding a cache across the road of my motel in Culcairn, before getting breakfast. After breakfast I headed out of town and I arrived at the Rutherglen showgrounds at 9am. I was pleased to check in and sign the attendance book. I also did the ‘GPS Maze’, today. I caught up with many people and I also found the lab caches. During the gaps of the Mega fun and during the non-raining times, I headed out to find as many caches as I could. I found the letterbox caches, attended the 3 events [2 GC and 1 GA] and found a couple of caches around the area. While at the GA event many moveable caches were discovered and signed. After the dinner event at the end of the day, I went did some bush bashing in the dark of the night to find a 2006 cache. I made sure I found it, as it fulfils part of a self-imposed challenge. Now, time to head to the motel and head to bed, so I’m ready for my last day tomorrow.
Day #3 [8/4] – My final day. Sad Anyway, I still have much planned which included finding the bike trail caches, finishing the Solar System series and finding a couple of multi-caches. Also, on the way home, I decided on avenging a DNF. Big Grin But before that, I started the day with breakfast at Macca’s. Next I found a couple more labs, some of which I missed yesterday. After a phone call, my bike riding buddy (Joelisa) was running late. This meant I could find the rest of the Solar System Series and a couple of others. I arrived at the starting point of the bike trail and was greeted by Ms Maddy who was getting ready for the bike ride. While we were getting ready If and Joelisa arrived and we decided on heading off and doing it together. The caches along the bike trail were **signed as 8/4/23 JIMM**. The group consisted of Joelisa [J], If [I], Ms Maddy [M] and Myself - JohnoMawbs [M for Mawbs]. We did most of the trail along the way to Wahgunyah, found a couple of other caches, had lunch and for the return trip, found the five we missed for the return trip to Rutherglen. Then we went our separate ways. I headed off to meet up with The Drovers before leaving. I found two caches along the way home. The second of the two, I avenged a DNF. Big Grin Now time to get home as I have a very busy day tomorrow.
I will need to return at some point, so I can complete the ‘bird’ mystery cache power trail at some point. Also all the new multi-caches which have just been published. So, these caches have been put on my, to do list. In other words, I’LL BE BACK. Big Grin
TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found this weekend and for allowing them to bring me and the Geocaching community enjoyment. Big Grin TFTE’s and TFTC’s Big Grin

Well it is finally time for The Rutherglen Mega and I was able to take a couple of extra days off work and come up early so I could get the most out of the Easter break.
After setting up the van and then offering my services to help set yesterday my caching buddy finally arrived.
After a big day and evening yesterday another big day was planned today.
Day 2 and the festivities are starting today so it is going to be like a four day Mega so I teamed up with GemmaSistema again to find a few more.
After a nice walk round the lake in the morning and then the opening ceremony it was time to get back to what we do best and that is finding caches around town and the country back roads and this was one of them.
After finding a lot of the Easter series caches it was nice to break it up with an occasional trad or multi along the way.
A Great Lake and for some reason I visited the area quite a few times looking for certain things.

Thanks Team RUB TFTC.

Plans were put in place for a Rutherglen attack over the Canberra day long weekend with the FurfacesLL, DSD and Sui. We spent 4 days away from home and collected a number of caches of various varieties.

After attacking the Brolga Bill's Bike Trail (BBBT), the Brolga Bill's Puzzles (BBP) and the Rutherglen Beginner Challenges with The Drovers, Geoturtle37 & Papi4506, we split and went our own ways. We spent the rest of the day driving around collecting the Ladders series, trads, multis, virtuals and basically anything that came in our path. It was an enjoyable day caching around Rutherglen. This afternoons caches were all signed as AB+G/AB&G (Adventure Boys and Girls) representing myself, FurfacesLL, DSD and Sui_001.

Thanks for the cache placement Team RUB

We planned to get down to Rutherglen to try and collect all the caches in the area before the mega so we could relax a little more as Mega’s always seem to be a little hectic. With the Canberra day long weekend on the horizon a plan was hatched, and accommodation was found. Our attack group ended up consisting of Rapidlywild, DARKSIDEDAN, Sui_001 and only half of the FurfacesLL team as the other member is broken, seems we are taking turns. We ended up collecting all the trails we had intended to do and many others in varying shapes and sizes and types.

After finishing up the Brolga Bill's Bike Trail (BBBT), the Brolga Bill's Puzzles (BBP) and the Rutherglen Beginner Challenges with The Drovers, Geoturtle37 & Papi4506 we went our own ways. We spent the rest of the day driving around collecting everything and anything we came across. All caches this afternoon were signed AB+G's (Adventure Boys and Girls) This team consisted of DSD, Sui_001, Rapidlywild and myself. A very enjoyable and successful afternoon of caching.

It all started with the computer. Had he known what was to follow, he would have never logged on that day. But the truth was there was no way to know what was about to happen. So Dave pressed the start button, the computer booted up, the screen came alive, and everything Dave knew to be true no longer was.
The day had begun on a bright note. The sun finally peeked through the rain for the first time in a week, and the birds were singing in its warmth. There was no way to anticipate what was about to happen. It was a worst-case scenario and there was no way out of it.
The amber droplet hung from the branch, reaching fullness and ready to drop. It waited. While many of the other droplets were satisfied to form as big as they could and release, this droplet had other plans. It wanted to be part of history. It wanted to be remembered long after all the other droplets had dissolved into history. So it waited for the perfect specimen to fly by to trap and capture that it hoped would eventually be discovered hundreds of years in the future.

I would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.

We caught up with The Drovers and tried to find some of the many caches in the area before Mega madness takes over. This was found with no troubles. Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for so long.

We have visited this area so many times in the few days we were up here. Pleased to say that this was found nice and easily. I was very pleased to see the date of placement for this cache as I love trying to find the older caches when I can. Thank you for keeping this cache going for so long. A favourite for me.

In the Rutherglen area for a weekend of caching.
Joined up with Geoturtle37 & Papi4506 for a great day of caching.

A fantastic variety of cache hides, made the day worth while.
Many thanks for placing this cache, team RUB, for us and others to find.

Out caching with the crew prior to the big event. It is so great catch up again. We will be back in a few weeks for the Mega....Can't wait!

Today we were tackling the Easter Geoart and were happy to polish off most of them. This was one of the extra's along the way. This one took some looking as we had to expand out search.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us to find.

**Found whilst in Corowa for a couple of nights** Big Grin

Out and about with The Crew (The Empire, Happy Pants, Happy Feet and Omegaman). This was our usual 'pre-Mega' cleanup around the area.

The thing I love about caching is the interesting stories, the extra interest and attention you take when traveling, the sight-seeing, the history, the interests of the individual CO’s, *the fantastic photo opportunities* and sometimes finding places that even some locals don’t know about. I, like most cachers, look for more that a mint tin or a container under a bush. I appreciate the time that most CO’s take to construct a cache and write up a comprehensive listing and to create an interesting cache. **I love traveling this big land of ours.** I love taking the roads less traveled. I love the diversity of the land, the different scenes in the different seasons, the fresh air, the open plains, the lofty vistas and the magnificent waters. I even enjoy the longer scenic walks although I'm not as young and as fit as I used to be.Wink I love the different coffee shops I find. I enjoy the times I cache with others but I usually cache on my own.
Thank you team RUB for highlighting this area and for adding this cache to my real-life treasure hunt. Appreciate your efforts. Big Grin
Look forward to coming back to the area for the Easter Mega @ Rutherglen in a few weeks.

Parks Victoria has fenced off the access track and closed the area due to damage from the recent floods.

It is certainly wet down here. The river is in flood and the access road is well under water.
