Love it when a hint makes perfect sensewhen u get there! I headed to the area for an orienteering event...no GPS's of course but nevertheless geocaching is still good training! TFTC and the fun.
Took me a bit to find it as my coordinates were slightly off but the hint really helped, great hiding spot!
After getting a DNF on a nearby puzzle, I needed a win for the last cache of the dayWas in perfect condition with a log book from 06 which was niceMay the fourth be with you
Parked my car up beside the track, before walking the short distance downtown the crack!! Again another pretty cool forest landscape. This is the youngest monsters favourite style of cache so he will be disappointed he wasnt with me this afternoon!! TFTC!!
Day 2 of getting sidetracked from completing the Ballarat GeoTour. I enjoyed my walk around the Koala reserve so much yesterday that today i thought i would return to do some more walking. The plan was to walk/cache for 4 hours and then take 2 hours to return. At 12 p.m., I decided i wanted to keep going rather than retrace my steps, so i organised a pick up at the other end. This was one of the many caches l found today. Some spectacular bushland and another golden oldie to my list.
Heading into Creswick and came in this way for a couple of finds. No issues here and the cache was soon in hand.
Thanks for the cache...all good.

A slightly challenging place to hide a cache but found it quickly while wondering how long I’d be able to stay there as my feet kept slipping. An enjoyable experience non the less TFTC LinctheSkinc

After spending the night camping with Mr Dromaniax at their block in Moonambel we headed to Avoca this morning for breakfast before heading back to Moonambel to pack up camp.
With camp all packed up we planned out route home with some key caches that we wanted to grab on the way home.
Mr Dromaniax had this one on his radar for his Jasmer grid. So another detour was required. after a bit of hunting we found our target after we used a bit of logic and expanded our search area.
Thank you LinctheSkinc for this old cache.
Sorry for the late log

Mr Sims_family and Mr Dromaniax had headed up to Moonambel to take the Dromaniax caravan to their property. It was decided that they would camp overnight at the property and do a little caching around the area.
So the caravan had been delivered at the tent and stretchers set up. As the Avoca pub was closed today it was decided we would head up to St Arnaud to check out dinner options there.
It was now time to make our way back towards home bases.
As neither of us had any pressing engagements we cached our way back.
Another specifically targeted cache as we need the hide month. We love finding old caches and we took quite a while to find this cache before realising that we may be on the wrong level.
Love finding this style of cache container.
The cache is in excellent condition, although the ziplock holding the log book has seen better days. The log was perfectly dry.
Thank you for placing this Traditional cache and maintaining it for so long LinctheSkinc. An Favourite point from us for the area and the cache.

We have headed to Ballarat to attend doctor appointments and in our spare time head out to areas that we have not cached in to find the many geocaches that have popped up in the forest areas. Most of the roads were acceptable, some geocachers were on walking/bike riding section which hubby hiked on and I drove the car and would pick him up along the way. All geocaches were found and were in good condition. SL TFTC
One of the caches I like to aim for is those that are placed before 2010 so this was a must for me. Pleased to be able to turn it into a smiley. Thanks for placing the cache and maintaining it for so long.
As soon as GT37 saw that this was an old cache, this was a must do. Nice quick find. Thanks for placing this and maintaining it for so long.
A camping road trip with Papi4506, Geoturtle37 and RoamingHowie, exploring Ballarat and surrounds, with focus on the new Geotour, the Goldfields Track and various solved puzzles.
Day Two...
Nice to find this lovely old cache still in play.

The plan today was a tour of Ballan, Mt. Buninyong, Ballarat and Creswick via Adventure Labs and other assorted types of geocaches. Our last stretch of the day involved caching through the Creswick trails until we reached too many campers to continue! I'm going to post photos of the first few pages in this log sheet to my Instagram soon. This is a great way to maintain the important history of this old geocache. Check out @empiregeocaching if you're keen to read it. Thanks for the cache LinctheSkinc.

Wow... 2 December! When did that happen? After finishing off the Christmas caches it was back to complete the rail trail which was partly completed last visit and a few other caches before heading home.
Grabbed this cache on the way out of camp as it was one I needed for my Ausmer grid. A cool old cache still in play!
Thanks sKinc for the cache.

Finally we are able to get out and about so we headed for Mt.Beckworth, Clunes and Creswick.
We had finished at Mount Beckworth, we had also cached out the town of Clunes so now it was on to Creswick and then home.
We started on the Goldfields track series but found a few other in-between before heading to the main road and home.

Managed to convince Mrs Perpetuallylost that she needs to get out of the house after this Covid-19 restriction time, so after a quick paddle on the Lake for a T5 cache, it was time for some fresh air and leg stretching out here in the Creswick State Forest.
I had chosen this cache to find as it was my nearest, oldest unfound cache to home. Our respective smartphones gps's had us heading off on slightly different directions at first, but it wasn't long before we had a similar GZ to search and it was Mrs Perpetuallylost who spotted this one from a small distance away. Great hide and location LinctheSkinc, after all these years the cache and logbook are still in great condition and we enjoyed our search here today.

Came back up to Ballarat to tackle a few more caches and to also have a paddle on the lake.
It was very windy at the lake this morning so I pulled the pin on launching the yak and headed up to Creswick to check out this area after coming up this way for an event a few weeks ago.
While having a yummy lunch at the Farmers Arms Hotel I worked out where I was heading to next in an area that I haven’t been to before.
Noticed this set of caches on the map and decided it looks a good place for a drive.
Not sure about the tracks around here after the recent rain but I was able to get the Geowagon close to this one and set off on foot.
The GPS led me to an area that you could tell has had a fair bit of mining done in the past and it was an interesting place to walk around.
Good coords soon lead me to a great sized cache that there should be more of out in the bush and I soon added my name to the log.
Thanks LinctheSkinc TFTC.

Out for the day for a mothers day cache! Bit of a chilly one but well rugged up. Having such a wonderful day! TFTC!!
After an overnight stay in Portland, Na'wal and I had a handful of hides to pick up on the way home, after a few detours...... Once again the weather was perfect and the caching was fun. Plenty of laughs and no DNF's !! Thanks to all of the CO's for placing these caches for us to find.
We had visited this area before, but we ran out of time to finish off our wish list. With some time to spare today, we returned to cross some more hides off our list. After a bit of four wheeling, we set off on foot for this cache. It took a bit, but we eventually made the find. It is now loved again. TFTC sKinc

With another bright, beautiful day for us to go exploring, DAB and I couldn't help ourselves find a few more caches for the weekend. We had the 4WD packed to keep our energy levels up.
The 4WD drive got plenty dusty coming along the tracks in through this part of Creswick. After making a uturn to find a park here, we set out on foot to find this cache that we were surprised by how much unloved it had on it. With a jumpy GPSr and a few places to hide a cache, we found ourselves scratching our head at where it could be. After reading a hint a few times and then coming to a spot, it all made sense and the cache was found.

Find #1688 for me. Found with jtnsilo at 11:25 am. I needed to use up some accumulated leave at work so decided to oblige today and find some more caches around Creswick. This was the first one we visited. After parking the car about 200m away we walked the short distance to the cache and soon found the treasure. Wow, the bag of swaps was very impressive! Pity my 5yo wasn't with me! The zip-lock bags were as good as new suggesting that the cache has been very well maintained so thanks for that. I was also quite surprised at how many entries there were in the log-book for a cache in the bush and jtnsilo and I were very happy to add our names to the long list. Thanks for bringing us here today LinctheSkinc and thanks for the cache!
Thanks for an interesting hide and providing us with our 1600th find. Yeah (Que whistles and ballons) TFTC

A Friday of fun, out and about around Creswick, in an effort to replace the green boxes on our geo-map with smiley tokens. We were amazed at the number of old remnant mine shafts and the spread of quartz around the bush.

After having a look at the washed out bridge at Slatey Creek camp ground, I came here with kenare and jenno3. The hint helped. Cigc. Tftc
The track across from WATERSHED required a modest fwd decent into a dry creek. However, the ascent out of said creek required some intelligent positioning on track and significant risk to get up the incline. We took the chicken route and walked. As well we did as the track was blocked by two fallen trees. Anyway, a little bushbashing had the ammo case in hand. Beware the stinging caterpillars. Grabbed a tussock an wow, what was that? A nice quick find, in another old mining area. The abundance of riches gained here over the years is mind boggling. Thanks for showing us this and for the cache.
What an interesting day. Started off looking out for some stolen goods and then progressed to grabbing a few caches (grabbing as in finding them, not as in stealing them).
Away from the townships I decided to try my luck around Creswick. In the old days they would have been happy to strike gold.
Now I am an easy going fella, and I too would have been happy to strike gold. Gold or a geocache....I'm not too fussy about things like that.
So a geocache it was.
Eureka!! Found it.

1430. Walked from St Georges' Lake initially via the Goldfields Track (www.goldfieldstrack.com.au) with thunder over head to start and again as we got back to the car but only a smattering of rain. Spring flowers everywhere. An area in which we have orienteered on foot and mtn bike and always enjoy.
Cache soon found by A+ who retrieved it. However a warning to people who are sensitive to bites and stings. At the cache A+ suddenly had swellings on hands and arms. The cache site was well populated with Cup moth caterpillars (see one of the three on container in the photo). These colourful creatures were the culprits www.digbig.com/5bgrfj.
They are highly invasive and detrimental to eucalypt forest. Fortunately, the damage they cause is not permanent. Recently driving from Kingston towards Werona their progress across the Wombat Forest skyline was very evident by the brown-grey Cup moth area in the north followed by medium green healthy eucalypts in the centre then the dark green of the pines in the southern end of the skyline.
Thanks for bringing us back to this interesting area. btw if walking or biking this Ballarat-Daylesford section of the Goldfields Track, you could check out the caches along the route at www.digbig.com/5bgrfk
