Another monster tree in this wonderful forest. Managed to find a gap in the steady stream of muggles to find, sign and replace. TFTC
What a lovely walk in Peel forest. We made only a short stop on our way to Oamaru but we plan to come back for more searching and exploring. Nice cache - thanks.
I do love these trees. 1,000 years is a long time to be around. Nice hide and didn't take too long to spot once I approached it from the right direction. Log book is damp and there's quite a bit of condensation in the cache although I was able to sign it. TFTC
Well worth the walk. Well labelled and easy to access. Everyone should visit. Thanks.
Visited tree many times but never knew there was a cache here. Good quick find and exchanged swops. Big tree had suffered some damage in recent big winds but still as impressive as ever
Wow a big tree. Tftc. Took goecoin n left TB. SL.

TFTC Lovely tramping area for families. Been here many times camping. Climbed Little Mt. Peel 18 times !! Big Peel once !! Cache was wet. Dried it as best I could.
Great contrast to the Hooker Valley hike earlier in the day. A little wet, but beautiful. Did this quick grab (with Grovduck and Jaebird's help) before heading back. TFTC!
Wow, that is an impressive tree! A bit hard to be very discreet here on such a beautiful day with lots of folks coming in. TFTC.
Another beautiful day for some caching in South Canterbury. Yes a big tree! Thanks for the hide.
ZH & Blondie invade NZ 2012!
Our 51st find in NZ, 22nd of day 4
Jogged the track to make a find, top notch stuff, definately worthy of the vote given! The nearby campsite is quality too!

Found this one while exploring the Rangitata River catchment. Wow, big tree! OK, yes they make great wakas, but how does one get it down to the river from here?
Neat history in the Canterbury Plains, dotted with tiny villages. A church, a cemetery and a community hall are all that’s needed. I love it here. Cold nights and hot days. Unending, straight, dry and dusty roads bordered by vast green fields, irrigated with snow melt water lased green with glacier dust brought in from miles away through old, porous canals. Skeletal radial sprinklers stretching a kilometre spraying life into the soil. All while rain clouds were visible rising above the high snowy peaks, but never rising across the ranges to shed their gift on the eastern slopes. TFTC Bitsprayer, and for your helping my tour of the region.

Wow another awesome tree.. Makes one look so small and insignificant. Mycro Man loved the ride in the backpack to here. Did with Mycro Man on our NZ MEGA 2012 South Island Trip
Looking at these tremendous trees reminded us of the 'Lord of the Rings' movie. We were just waiting for these trees to start walking off. TFTC
In NZ on a Working Holiday Visa from the US. Just finished a job in Ashburton and have a week or so to check out some of Canterbury. Decided to explore Peel Forest and the surrounding area today and stopped to find a few Caches along the way. This was the only Cache I could locate on the trails today... Its tough finding these things in the NZ Bush! Find # 50... Woohoo! Thanks for a memorable 50th find!
Almost foiled by a family having a picnic on the bench. Hung around for 20 min and they finally left. Just as impressive as i remember.
Loved the totara, and the signs en route. The age of the 'biggest' is almost incomprehensible, and I didn't know some waka could hold so many men. A most enjoyable walk and lesson. 4yo Bairdy remarked on this track "Fancy steps!" as we'd done the Fern track before this one. TFTC SLTN +lemur on tree trunk, seemed apt.
Found it! Quick find. Left a coke lid from the empty bottle (took the bottle). Put the cache back with a bit more natural covering. TFTC
The sound of birds flying through the trees kept me company at the beginning of this walk but further on a couple of muggles came along the track. One was taking photos of the trees, there are some fine specimens along the way to the big beast.
Thanks

Still remember coming here as a Kid and thinking such huge trees, they are still just as inspiring now as they were then awesome TFTC
That's a lot of firewood in one place! Might take a while with the splitter though so I'll settle for looking at it. TNLN Thanks
It's been a while since I visited this tree. It's a good one alright. I came the long way around and was rewarded with many other majestic Totara 's. Wonderful trees. An easy and interesting walk in, and an easy find. TFTC + Symbology geocoin
Short, easy walk with great scenery. Had to act nonchalant as 3 muggles turned up at a critical point. Took nothing, left blue poker chip. TFTC!
Another blow-out for Mrs Hotspuddie. Whew! Got there and loved the huge trees. Pity this track doesn't join up with the Fern walk track.Picked up TB. Left a marble and a safety pin! SL. TFTC.
Quick drop of TB Battle Axe, please take it on it's way back to The Netherlands!

Found this on a trip to see the big tree after our visit to Geraldine. TFTC (258)
This was my first cache hunt for months and I couldn't find this one... then my PDA died so couldn't check the clue... then the little one starting crying louder so needed to move on - maybe next time in a few more months down the track....
Stayed at the nearby and very lovely DOC campground overnight so went by to grab it early in the morning. Definitely cool tree. I'd seen big Rimu and KAuri before, but not Totara, so that was cool. Spotted hippo TB but decided to leave it there. TFTC
What a great tree. Reminded us of our trip through the Kauri forests at the top of the Nth Is. Had to wait for a party of school children to leave before we could attempt the recovery! Dropped of Hippo#6 & Took geocoin. TFTC
What a treemendous find! A lovely walk thru the bush and an easy find today. Cache and logbook soaked-replaced logbook (left the old one), dried out the cache and put fresh silica in as well as a few trinkets and a big Geocoin. Thanks for showing us these treemendous things.
Nice walk in the bush to GZ and some ancient specimans. Should have read the previous logs first as we came without a replacement logbook. Sorry. Trust the next cacher will bring in a new logbook to replace the wet one. TFTC
Looks like we are the first to log a visit to this cache for quite a while. Entire contents (log book and a couple of pens) were completely saturated. Couldn't sign log.
TFTC. TNLN.

[found it] but it was in the drain and [the inside was saturated, including logbook. managed to sign it and let it dry for 10 minutes which was no where long enough. and moved it slightly so is obviousish to geocachers (not muggles) but no longer in a place that can fill up with water]
Very impressive, first find of the day after stopping the night at the nearby camping spot.

Went to get the CCC coin and ended up at the feet of these awesome trees; a double whammy.
These trees have a habit of making you feel rather insignificant, having been around a long time before us and likely to survive a long time after. Dropped off a geocoin. TFTC.

Now that is one Treemendous specimen. Awesome spot for a cache. Found with Yeetrees. Many thanks.

Found with YuGeo4, a Treemendous spot for a cache, thanks for bringing me here. TFTC TNLNSL (1422)
Out showing a friend what this Geocaching thing is. An impressive tree, one of many around here. had to wait for all the muggle families to leave or occupy themselves taking photos. TFTC.
Enjoyed this walk plus the Acland Falls walk on my 60th birthday. We are visiting here from Canada. Thanks.
Found this cache with my personal travel bug Ice Age Scrat along our 3 moths trip around the whole New Zealand,
