Was on my way home from a lovely lunch at Sellicks Hill Wines and after finding a new cache not too far away I thought I would stop off here even though I had read the previous log regarding the fence.
I PAFed and was given a hint after I had finished all my counting. I even had a muggle in the playground asking if I was looking at putting one of these fences at home as I was walking around counting. [?]
As it turns out I couldn't get the sums to work with the number of tubes making up the fence. So it was time to use the hint and I went for a walk looking, looking, and after a little while the cache was found and log signed.
This was a fun multi even if I couldn't get the correct coordinates. Thanks !mike.

We drove through the area of this cache today, and noted there is a new fence around the small playground. The fence still consists of vertical tubes, but are not looped at the top. We didn't have time to stop and do a recount to see if the numbers match.
This one might be due for some owner maintenance.

Thanks for the cache! Confused a few muggles at the playground by counting the fence hehehehe
Despite only living only 5.5 kilometres from this cache, today is our first attempt at finding it.
Despite some previous logs casting doubt over how easy this would be, we found it all straight forward and everything worked out correctly the first time.
The whelks did cause us to backtrack just a little bit, but we soon had some new coordinates, and the cache shortly after that.
Thanks !mike.

The whelks had us confused but we definitely got a feeling of satisfaction on finding the cache.
After getting the coordinates completely wrong because I didn't know what a whelk was I went to where I thought it might be and then found a whelk and that made it easy for Sir_Spetre to uncover the final place
Found with jacknor under torch light. After he didn't read the final sign stuffed the co ords and put the cache out at sea.
Walked the walk went back to car due to rain on way. Keyed in co Ords and went for another easy walk. Found where we thought. Found with Linda from 3LG.
Plans change at a moments notice. Expected to be in the Hills doing a spot of caching but instead ended up South and then plans changed again and the other half, Mr 3LG, decided to head back with his ride for the day while Mrs 3LG stayed on and cached with Earthlight. This was a good chance to do a multi or two and this was multi no.1 for the day. We initially drove past the start and so ended up parking in the next car park. Then we spotted the long set of steps and boardwalk and thought, nooooo, hope we aren't counting those or worse yet having to go down there to find GZ. As it happens we had nothing to worry about. The counting was easy & fun, even the really big lot of counting was shared by 2 of us. We had GZ worked out as easy as 1,2,3 and just as it started to rain we had the log book signed

weeeeelllllllll, that was....fun
this cache certainly fried our brains, it was smooth sailing until the counting of the tubes...there were three of us, but three different counts...we had to go around and around the fence many times, before we got the same numbers. and then the last counting game had us baffled too!!! eventually we found what we were looking for, corrected our mistakes, and headed to the cache, where a big spider was carefully guarding the cache!
beautiful views from here!
thanks for a fun hide and for making the day enjoyable

This cache has been on my radar for several years. Tried once before but with limited time I gave up. Back today with some friends and we gathered the info. No problems until we had to count the tubes. We decided to all do a count and compare notes - 3 people, 3 different counts So another count... and another until Amy had a repeat count - we went with that. The last number had us beat for a while but finally it clicked.
Then to GZ and a satisfying find. Phew! we worked for that find TFTC !mike

Couldn't get this to work out last week and were all out at sea , but with some electronic assistance and the numerous photo's Mr DISK takes (all about the whelks), we sorted it out at home [8].
Couldn't remove the container from its spot, so had to open it insitu and extract the log .
TNLNSL.
Thanks again !Mike.

Woohoo only had to recount the posts twice!! Lovely sunny day out working as a team with the geogirlfriend to nut out this oneTFTC
Were merging the accounts of QinNai and PrincessConsuela. Thats why we do this re-logging. Previously logged as Qinnai. TFTC!Fairly easy spot and wonderful view, TFTC!
It's been a while since the most recent log. Like the previous loggers I had to count the fence "tubes" twice before getting a meaningful answer. Got a funny look when an enquiring muggle was answered that I was counting fence tubes! They do need re-painting! The revised GZ was spot on. Thanks !mike.
This is a good little multi in a beautiful location on a good day. I was surprised that there had been no visits since June last year - perhaps counting all those vertical tubes is just too much! Picked this up with EsromL and a friend today after a swim at Southport Beach. It took us about three goes to achieve consensus on the number of vertical tubes in the fence before we were confident to progress. To save others the same stress, the number is.....no, on second thoughts, count them yourself! The cache is well located. Thanks !mike for the cache.
I nearly managed to find my way out of counting all of those vertical tubes until e.gregory1 and a friend disagreed with their final answer and they both suggested that it might be my turn to do the counting. We got the right number in the end, found the cache quickly and headed off to the next one. TFTC

This was a good multi. It was tricky enough so that care needed to be taken to avoid a mistakes, but all the questions made sense. The answers were findable and if you take you time, it takes about an hour. I really enjoyed it. TFTC.

Arrgh! The fence rails! I nearly lost count! I was also about to have a guess at the last number, then I learned what a whelk is (I would've guessed right anyway). I must have had everything right in the end, as the coordinates were spot on.
Went on the search for this cache yesterday, obviously my counting is up to scratch as we located the cache in no time. TFTC.

Found it nice and easy. My husband was playing with his new toy (a metal detector) along the beach while I was busy with the counting. Coordinates were spot on.

Thanks !mike for the cache.
How hard can it be. Shouldn't be as hard as we made it but counting that fencing required meant we had to count well past 123. Then there was the whelks - we had to phone a friend about that one. Very pleased to find the cache at the end of it all. Thanks !mike

We were pretty happy with the counting until we got to the tubes. Is it one long tube or two short tubes. Took a punt and along with Lead n Lace made the find right where the GPSr said it would be. Nifty hide.
Out caching with KriKe on a 'wintry' November day even the usual birds absent! Found all the clues, then off for Fish 'n Chips lunch and a quick find afterwards - Took cocktail unbrella, left a soldier. Thanks for the cache - Lead 'n Lace
How crazy are we to actually do all that counting for a cache? Hey we did it anyway. Wasn't too sure what the last number should be (didn't know the word) so you have increased our vocab as well. Took a marble and left a lanyard. TFTC
How on earth did that get in there? There was no way we could get it out of it's hiding place, so we opened it in situ. Took corndog coin. TFTC
found this one quite hard had two shots at it bit wet but sucsessful left corndog coin

After a big day in the surf at Southport dogtired managed to convince everyone "this will be a fun cache".
Luckily it was, thanks !mike.
The geokids enjoyed the counting & the playground, but I still had to double check the number of bars.
TNLN.
ps. doesn't everyone know what a whelk is??
The answer is there!

How not to find a cache
1. Park in the wrong carpark;
2. Turn right instead of left; and,
3. Attempt to cheat when counting vertical rails!
With the answer at hand, find the cache location, check for muggles - all clear - retrieve the cache and complete the log. Now for the easy part return the cache, damn where are all those muggles come from and when will I get a second to replace the cache!

Thought we'd knock this one off our list after a great day in the surf at the beach in view from this walk. Got it right first time (despite having no idea what a whelk is - just used logic to work out that number).
The people leaving the playground must have thought we were tough parents challenging our kids to count the vertical tubes on the fence. Little did they know......
Now how many waves did I catch today?........counting 1,2,3 ....oh too many to count!

a great little cache, enjoyed by the whole family, I made the kids count the railings twice just to make sure, struggled with the whelks but counted them in the end.

After trying to whelk out a solution we then failed and rang the nibs helpline... they didn't tell us where though, liked the hide. a nice day out! took glow ant left really cool marble with earth on it!
Our first Multi and boy was it FUN! We loved counting and doing the figures. Since we're using Google Earth- we had to get the clues first-go on the panoramic walk- get the answers to the clues- go home and do the figures- google them- then go back (on a different day- we live pretty close to the areas)! LOL
Another BRILLIANT hiding spot.
Take your children out for some fun in a very safe play park- you'll all be glad you did!

2nd go at this one.Tried to do on my last trip out here, had to get some kids to help me count the pipes.Easy find.
Third attempt at this one. The first one was thwarted by some steps that we had to count, but which were closed for repairs. The second time, the #@$^* poles brought us unstuck. Revisited today and counted the poles twice and finally agreed on a number. The hardest part of the whole thing today was waiting for a break in the walkers, joggers, cyclists and dog owners going past. Cheers. Glad to finally clear this one off my radar . Took a patch and left a resus mask.
I go away for a few days holiday and what does the council do - without my permission I might add!!!
I will go and have a look and come up with a temporary fix.

This one never got off the ground. The starting stairs are fenced off for renovations, not due to be finished until Jun 06. (see pic)
A flippant remark as Freddo was searching for the car keys to go had us trying one more “obviously wrong†possibility we had discounted at the start. We are just tooooo smart sometimes for our own good!!!! ….then… Cache found in 30seconds. At least I watched Freddy boy get his feet wet from the comfort of the top of the cliff.
+yoyo –spaceship.
Nice surf shop across the road too. Cool drinks there.
Thanx !Mike – clear skies from Freddo and TeamAstro.
Arrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhh!!!!
We walked past that spot about six times.
In the end this cache took the combined mind power of two very obsessed cachers over an hour. At one time I was getting my feet wet with one set of numbers. At another time Astro was checking out someones front yard.
In the end we through logic out the window and went with ambiguity.
Ambiguity wins.
Beautiful afternoon to be in the area. Thanks guys. Next time can we only have to count to 20 please.

Counted the steps, counted the posts, counted the rails, counted the slats, found the whelks and counted them too. Didn't count on the negative coordinate though - never a good sign. Decided to head off to tackle "22 Years", then pulled over in disgust at giving up too easily. After a quick recalculation imagine my surprise that GZ was a mere 3 metres away! Found cache and counted my blessings! Took Nemo keyring, left glow-in-the-dark ant. Cheers to !mike.
Could see the rain coming and raced through this one, unfortunately that meant I then had to re-count everything when my GZ was 15 kms away
Double checked my maths with !Mike and confirmed all but 1 correct - doubled this one number, found it shortly there after
Thanks for a great Cache !Mike

A very popular area today.
People surfing, people fishing and others just strolling around enjoying the fine weather.
I had a pleasant walk and got lots of practice counting, especially vertical poles which I had to do twice!!
Also took the 'Puff Daddy' TB along for a visit (it likes to surf) but unfortunately it couldnt stay as it wouldn't fit in the cache.
- button light, + fish/mouse keyring
Cheers !Mike

We were pretty clever and got the fence maths right - BUT got the steps wrong. OOPS! After recalculating and getting the right co-ords it was a piece of cake. Took pencil sharpener and left a klem bear and winnie-the-pooh. Thanks for a good one !Mike.
Returned this morning, surprised to see that i was 3rd to find. The southern suburbs cachers must be having a rest.
After talking to team hurtle, and !Mike, i was quietly informed that i ended way off the mark, but half of my answers were right. Mike told me that i was close to the right number of fence posts, which i was proud of, after doing in the dark after a couple of drinks. From there i guessed the rough area that i needed to be in, and since there was no way i was going to count all those fence posts again, did a little bit of lateral thinking, and came up with the right co-ordinates.
When i got to GZ the car park was near empty, and there werent too many people around. I stopped, took a few pics whilst waiting for the muggles walking their dogs to pass, before whipping out the cache, only to throw it away again, when a spider started to run up my arm
Retreated to the car to sign the log, before returning the cache safely.
If only i new what i was in for at my next cache, i wouldnt have bothered continuing. Take a look at my log for '22 years'

Started this one about 16:30, but had to give up halfway through, due to muggle activity at the playground. Luckily i had a social club function for umpiring at pt noarlunga, so i was able to return after dark to collect the rest of the clues
Could figure out what a whelk is, but i think i managed to gues the answer anyway. After a couple of drinks, counting large amounts of metal posts becomes a tad harder, and so that probably gave me an incorrect final point
Despite the induced alcachol, the final point that i got made sense, and so off i trooped. its surprising how busy it is in pt noarlunga at 9pm on a saturday night. came away empty handed, but in the process found a couple of ripper spots to hide a cache!!!
Shall return, after confering with team hurtle, about where i might have gone wrong.
Thanks !mike

Well well well.... Shared the ftf with Abowie(he was the only one who turned up this morn !). A nice little walk with great views on a glorious morning. Had a slight hiccup with the fence, but was easily solved, when Abowies gps pointed us into a neighbours place! We counted the fence 3 times and got the same number each time. I re-calculated whilst Abowie was off amongst the houses. Re-working the figures we came up with a much more logical location. I might add, that there wasn't anything wrong with our adding up or calculations, just how you interpret the clues! The final co-ords were spot on too!
Left a patch and took the 'key to the heart' TB, the last one of the set!! Also left Team BaggyGreens 'Geo Screw Coin' TB for Abowie to grab. Had a chat for awhile about other cache, then headed off to 'Elkanah Gums'(too early for The Emu!!
Thanks !mike for the walk, and chance to meet another fellow cacher.
