#3rd find today and our 300th cache!!! A really nice area. A picture perfect way to mark a milestone cache. TFTC.
The Freezer Mice strike again!!!
A quick assesment of the area pointed to a couple of potential cache hiding spots, and it was upon checking spot number 2 that cache was in hand.
Task of finding the 'log container' was made alot easier now that it has a lable on it, however it was still quite novel to check each one and see what they contained.
TNLNSL, Thanks for the cache.

Great cache in lovely location - shame most of the roses were at the end of the season but saw plenty of flowers along the bank of the stream.
Heading north from Kihikihi by bike.

Surprisingly there were a few roses blooming.

Having just found the other Te Awamutu cache, we had 15 minutes before the last bus back to Hamilton. Surely we could squeeze this on in and get to the bus in time.
Accurracy was not brilliant under the trees. 8 minutes till the bus .... I'm sure it's around here somewhere .... 6 minutes .... It's got to be just here .... 4 minutes .... ahh, it'll be in that spot there for sure .... 3 minutes ... found it, now to log it quickly and dash for the bus ... GRRRRR [:(!] this cache does not lend itself well to being logged in a hurry.... ran for the bus and arrived at stop mere seconds before the bus arrived phew!

Rala was on her way to Lake Taupo with a friend from Germany and on their way they stopped for this cache.
What a cute little park. The roses smelled just wonderful and the fountain looked very inviting, but Rala resisted the urge to jump in. Rala's friend found the cache (her first one ever) and then Rala had some fun with the containers.

kotare's first New Zealand cache while on holiday here from the USA. It was so exciting when some local cachers tapped on the window as she was putting in the co-ordinates! Caching together made it an even more special event. Traded some TBs. SL. Thanks for the cache.

Pulled up beside another car in the Rose garden carpark, and noticed a yellow electronic device sitting on the dashboard. A quick tap on the window revealed another cacher, Kotare, on holiday from the States, here visiting family and friends. Nice to make your acquaintance.
Had a yak about international caching, and then made the cache find together. Discovered and traded some travel bugs.
Logged in Lighthouse coin for Kotare to pick up.

Called by today, while in the vacinity, checking out a wedding venue nearby. Added the missing items plus a new log page. Picked up ags new geocoin (will wait till he logs it) and tidied up cache site.
Seems every cacher adds more xxx to cover the cache and so it is building up. Nearby roses have been pruned - guess it's time to start doing mine.

Stopped at these pretty rose gardens on many occasions. With the middle of winter the roses are a bit bare, but still a lovely spot.
Dropped off geocoin, after accidentally leaving it on the grass for two days(!) at Matakitaki Pa geocache. Lucky to find that again!

Thank you Ross and Dana, the muggles who endorse Safe Sex, but the items you left do not fit in with the cache theme (there was even items I've never heard of!!!). These have been removed as this is a family sport.
Picked up Jeep TB and left the Calgary cachers geocoin (trackable elsewhere)

Lovely park. Interesting cache. I was correct first time. Must have been fools luck. Love the idea.
A good find after rock climbing at Wharepapa South all weekend. Intrepreted the photo theme differently so left a photo.
Enjoyed the walk around the gardens and managed to find the cache with no trouble although finding the log book was another story! TNLN but signed the log. Thanks for the fun this cache brought.
The geo-kid found this one first. Great little spot and a good reason to stop. TFTC.
After lunch in the nearby Te Awamutu Gardens we trundled along to find this cache. There was a family picnicing on the table overlooking GZ and my heart sank. After a stroll up and down I realised my guess for the hiding place was partially screened from the table if I kept low, so I crawled over and dug about. What I found was a repository for empty bottles and not the cache. So still keeping low I moved along to prospect no. 2. This time success!
TNLNSL T4TC.
Following this we explored other areas of the park and YES Butterfly Lady, Navigull has now communed with the birds of the fountain (see picture).

Nice easy cache for us to knock over while visiting relatives in the area. Have always made it a point to visit these gardens when we are in Te Awamutu and I am always impressed with the quality of the roses grown here. Easy find and we liked the cache theme.

Great place for lunch. While the rest of the intrepid band were feasting after their sojourn through the grottos of waitomo, Terrortorian and co decided to challenge a few local caches. thankfully the lunch time crowd were too busy to notice the antic of a pair of cachers and this wcache was soon found. enjoyed the cache within a cache (maybe an extra clue will help). Off now to find some more NZ caches in our brief tour of the NZ.
The boss decided to stop for lunch at the garden, so we sat down and I brought my GPS out...found myself sitting 74m from a cache, though I didn't know which, and went for a hunt.
Looped around it first, as GPS had me headed toward the stream, then backtracked and went right to it. Brought it out, signed the log, amused at the interior of said package, and replaced it with a few more leaves.
Nice cache, thank you.

Found with my Brothers. One a muggle and the other Revhead. Interesting place all nice and tidy. Out frog and in Ear plugs. Neat idea with cache contents. Thanks
Cache is still there I searched about 1/2 them before Brian grabbed the correct one first time!
Cache is back. No changes to waypoint or clue... Thanks for the patience as I did some maintenance on the actual cache container. Happy hunting.
GPS accuracy 15-30m at best... It was dark so after 45 minutes of searching we left this one for sunny day... We now see that it is not actually there, which makes more sense cause there were a couple places where it made sense to be, but alas it was in neither of the places.
We are glad to know we arent going crazy! Only problem is we had to drive all the way back to Auckland smelling like onions from the onion flowers!

Thanks to Punga & Paua, most of the cache has been recovered. Sad to say some work needs to be done offsite before it can be returned. Watch this space, I hope to get it back soon...
3rd cache today. A very very lucky find!! We searched high and low for this one, there were only two likely places, one was empty and the other was stuffed full of fish and chips papers and beer cans. We widened the search but were ready to give up when Punga spotted signs of a cache in the onion weeds. We risked smelling of onions for the rest of the day and combed through the wild onion flowers to find the cache and contents spread over a wide area, we think we managed to save quite a lot and the log book is intact. We put it back together but decided against returning it to the same place. Will email Butterfly Lady and RadioNut50 with the details.
Based on the most recent log, will disable immediately and consider whether to replace. It's been fun watching the double hunt on this on. Thanks to all who chased this one.
This is a cache that even when you find the cache you are still looking!!! Great thanks. NINO
DDR Gopher was on fire this day, finding yet another. Took butterfly stickers and left an Ethiopian bracelet. Nice puzzle inside the cache, we did manage to sign the log. TFTC! Dancing Gophers from Maryland, USA.
There were four young muggles lurking close to the cache so we went for a short walk and waited for them to leave. Even at this time of the year there were some roses worth photographing. (And the wasps). The bushes and trees are a beautiful colour just now.
Nice spot.
Nice spot.
Last find for the day, been a long trip back from the mountain, but it was dark and work tomorrow meant we had to get on with the driving. Had no problems finding the cache but noted a burnt out car up on the road and hoped the culprits had fled. TFTC
A visit to check cache. All dry - just needed covering a bit more. Noted waypoint good from out in the clear, but tends to waiver once under the trees. Suggest seekers / finders check pointer on GPS before going under the tree cover - you can do this within 10 metres of the cache. Cheers.
Nice day for a stroll around the fountain. found easily enough, walked past it on the way in. took nothing, left nothing as I had something bigger to leave. Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the info on the restrooms... New state of the art restrooms are now open, behind the information centre on the corner, and across the road from the main gate. Do come back now y'all.....
This must be one of the largest single stage multi-caches in existance. Finding the cache container was one thing, finding the log-book quite another matter. Into the appropriate container we placed a 5 sene coin. Anyone contemplating a South Pacific journey can enjoy a real big ‘spend-up’
We offer thanks to ‘Butterfly Lady’ and ‘Radionut’ for an interesting location and challenge.
Of interest the female of the species considers that the adjacent rest-rooms were of ***** quality unmatched by any other known.

Great stop for a cache. Had a good walk around before looking for the cache. Had trouble with my GPS, might be time to get a new one.
Walked through the rose gardens soaking up all the nice smells. Coordinates seemed to be bang on for me and the GPS led me directly to the cache. A pity the kids weren't with me today as they would have really enjoyed the original puzzle. TNLN. Thanks
Nice quick find before work. My GPS was also pointing to the creek, but the clue is fairly specific when you're in the right area and I found the cache on the second spot I checked. Nice twist (3). Thanks for a cache in such a lovely spot. TNLNSL.
Yes the GPS was all over the place-seems to be pointing somewhere near the creek. Looking at the clue helped and I had the prize within minutes but "Thats not all" when you open up you have another surprise for you!! I wont say what happened to me yet!
