Look on the bright side, there's only 51 more weeks until the next Caching Classic, not that anyones counting
Stanleys all say to put the money aside for next year. Make sure that this years organisers are not out of pocket. Besides it would cost more in petrol to distribute $3 each to the players. Stanleys
We have set up a gallery for the event on the GCA site. The url is as follows, gallery.geocaching.com.au/album59
The user name is gcauser and the password is 2teaPOT.
Enjoy.
We ended up with $108 left over from the Kapunda extortion.
The original suggestion was that we donate these funds to a charity.
However we have had another idea.
Would anyone mind if we put the funds aside as a float for the event next June. It would give the organizing team a running start for purchasing items, deposits, etc.
Alternatively we could refund each team $3.

Well what more can I say that already hasn't.
Just a great time meeting fellow cachers.
I'm certainly counting to the next one, cannot come soon enough.
Our team Blue Chocolate was pleased with the number of caches we found and are planning how to trim downtime so we can find more next time.
Keep money for next year.
Cheers and a big thankyou to the organising team.

Just a note to say the Scarf found at the fire on monday morning does not belong to any of the members of UdderChaos. Might be Jo's from Scojohara.. Have let them know
and the lyrics... apologies to those that want to forget.
Did you hide that cache, Damn Freddo....
I remember long ago another bloody cache like this
One more tricky hide, Damn Freddo.
I am cursing to myself and trying to look around this place
Getting nowhere very fast and seeing nothing cause its always "lost in space".
It’s a puzzle cache, damn freddo.
I don’t know braille or French or lunar code that well at all
How can I find this thing, damn freddo?
If only I had listened more when I was back in school
I'd complete the maths before Astro had got there and feel so very very cool...
There was something in the clue he wrote … or (co- ord – I – nate)
it's just not right
Damn Freddddooooo...
Gunna log a no find yet again
I’m round the bend
Damn Fredddoooooo.....
when my gps points at blank walls
I have regrets
If I ever find this stupid thing
I'll dance and sing
Damn freddo...
If I ever find this stupid thing
I'll dance and sing
Damn freddo...
Now I’m Cold and Wet damn Freddo
For many years I wished you’d never seen a Gee Pee Ess
Can you read a map damn Freddo
Would you consider retirement soon and take some time to rest
I can see it in your eyes you stop this game and finally take up playing chess
Now there is a shonky satellite
it's not quite right
Damn Freddddooooo...
Couldn’t get a decent fix for me
Dax, or shon-kee
Damn Freddo
Alex and skippy came past too-night.
They were upset
They could not find that damn cache at all
They hit that wall
Damn Freddo
There is still a shonky satellite
it's still not right
Damn Freddddooooo...
Gunna log a no find yet again

If I ever find this stupid thing
I'll no longer sing
Damn freddo...
Yes, If I ever find this stupid thing
I'll never sing
Damn freddo...
No, If I ever find this thing
I’ll want to sing …
… Found a virgin
Found for the very first time
Found a vir ir ir ir gin…
When gps beeps
For a first to find.

What a fun weekend it was! We had a great time catcing up with people and hunting down a lot of caches. Some of them were very cleverly hid. Thanks to shonky for allowing us to get his car dirty. A special thanks to Damn Freddo, Parrot and the rest of the organising team for giving us all an exceptionally well run event.
TeamAstro’s first June event. Fantastic event due to the fantastic people and fantastic organisation. Did not feel like we were the team that travelled the least!
Clear skies, TeamAstro. [^]

Yipee !!!!
Was that fun or what?
I would love to thank all of those who participated in creating this magical moment in geocaching.
So many people came up and thanked me and the rest of the organisational team. However it was the enthusiasm of everyone that made this the experience that it was.
We only put down the foundations for the event. No wonder it shined, you were all so happy to be a part of this and take what we had given you and build a magnificent event.
From sharing breakfast in the morning to that last drink around the campfire at night, teams came together in the spirit of friendship.
As part of the organisational team I can assure you that even though I didn’t compete I had a fantastic time and found it a rewarding experience.
The main event was a joy to watch unfold and provided us the opportunity to see nearly every team competing. That in itself was a treat to watch.
That this was a fun event to help organise must have been obvious as I was approached by a team representing a region eager to host one of these events.
Who knows maybe next year rather than trying to work out where we will go we may actually see groups of teams putting up hosting packages for their regions.
The organisational team will have a post event review meeting. If you want to provide some feed back on how the event could be improved please e-mail one of us and we will include your comments into our review that will be passed onto next years organisational team.
Team SA_Parrothead had the best time.
Thank you all so much.

Thanks to everyone for another great weekend, and sorry about the datum thing. Well done to those who found cache 8 before the correction was broadcast. I would like to point out that the cache was visible from above when we hid it, but was well buried under rocks when we retrieved it - some serious cache "creep" occured.
Well done Setsujoku and Posspet, and extra thanks to Posspet for telling me how to pronounce Setsujoku.

This was our first June caching event and we had a great, great time. Many thanks to all those who organised the event and activities. Will be looking forward to the next one .
PS Looks like the scarfe is ours ... well Freckle's. He had such a lovely time by the fire and playing in his "yard" and hiding his "cache".

Amazed that i got such a good score.
Thanks also to Team Cache Nerds for providing the transport so i could travel in style.

Logging some of the backlog of finds! Better late than never or was that ever?
Dropped by this event and caught up with a few old timer cachers and some new ones, Sadly couldnt hang around too much as I had the Pagan bonfire from hell to build with Astro!
That seemed to go off quite well! Dragged god knows how many tons of wood and rubbish out of that creek with the new piggy mobile!
Had to depart at 1 am in the morning though as I had to be at Cape Jervis by the next morning for a meeting! So my stealth antics meant not too many saw me! (Piggy-stealth at its best)..
Thanks all!

When leaving the camping ground we found a rainbow coloured scarf nearish to the fireplace. MiniZyth1 thinks it might belong to part of Udder Chaos[?][?]
Kerry & I decided at the last minute to go up to Kapunda on Sunday just to meet some of the teams we know of but don't know (if you know what I mean) and maybe do a few caches. However, Saturday at Littlehampton rained all night long. I kept waking up thinking, '..why bother getting up early for this sort of day..' We did get up early (5:00), packed the car and drove to Kapunda. As we got further North the weather cleared and the decision to go was validated. Got there just before 8:00. Having seen how many people were there we decided to go the whole hog and play for the day. What a great day with a great bunch of people. We stayed for the fancy dress party and left about 21:45 for a very exhausting drive home. I think Kerry was asleep before we hit the main street of Kapunda.
Thanx to all of the organisers and teams for a great event.
Four-Fun we have your prize. By unanimous vote, best flavour cache was Sour. 'We accept this award on behalf of four fun and he is not likely to ever see it again...'

Had a wonderful time. I thought my Two year old already had a thing for Trains then we saw Kapunda. Leo was fantastic and thanks to all those who placed caches on the train tracks. Fantastic event thanks to the organisers. C U next year.
Shonkylogic, Ms Shonklogic and 1/2 shonky had a ball again this year. Great to catch up with old faces and meet some new ones.
Along with i, dax we thank those of you that were polite enough to applaud our performance, even after the technical hitch with the PC when three of us lost our words. Maybe Freddo had a remote desktop connection!
Big thankyou to the organisers, and we very much look forward to next years event.

Another exceptionally well organised event that ran very smoothly. Thank you to all involved organising the event. We were very fortunate with the weather all weekend. Thanks to everyone there, a very enjoyable weekend.
I had a fabulous weekend. This was my first event and meeting all of you and putting names to faces was great. Thankyou to the organisers Freddo, Parrot, Barra Skippy and Alex for all the effort.
To all the teams that participated, thankyou. If it wasn't for all of you getting together to have a fun time it wouldn't be as great as it was.
Geocaching for me over the last 2 years has maily been a solitary event and last year I was not able to attend the event. Shiftwork can have both it's advantages and disadvantages.
The whole weekend was a joy. Whether it was the pre ice breakers around the fire on Friday night. Running around the oval first time playing Gecho (much safer than a maze of Z's). A BBQ and a drink with all on the Saturdayand the night run without a torch. The great floor show on Sunday night and then the final conclusion of the awards.
Fantistic time teams and see you again next year.

Thank you to the organisers for another wonderful weekend, we enjoyed the company of fellow geocachers who are all friendly, and the challenge of a few hard to find treasures, all this made it a magic weekend for us. See you all next year.

We had a great time over the weekend, thanks to all who participated. And thanks to fellow organisers, it has been a fun process with a successful result. I'm looking forward to the next event.

I had a great time, even though I was completely rugged up for the whole event It was wonderful to finally put faces to the many names I have come across in my caching travels with Nibs. Thank you for the wonderful entertainment, I look forward to the next one - in WARMER weather???? Great to meet you all

The Queen's Birthday weekend in SA has long been a highlight on our caching calendar, and this one was a worthy successor to Normanville, Melrose and Naracoorte. Our congratulations and thanks to the organisers - Freddo (or Damn Feddo according to the Shonky Dax serenade), Alex, Skippy, ParrotHead and the Barramundis. Special mention also to the winners Setsujoku and 'Uncle' Posspet, whose find rate for the day was mind-boggling to we plodders, but in the end we were all winners. The area, of such natural beauty with magnificent gums, many trails, stone cottages, fat sheep and of course the mining history, was a fitting backdrop to the Event. Cachers of all ages, old friends and new, completed the mix, and even the weather was kind. We enjoyed exploring previously unknown back roads during our task of placing our two caches and collecting our first bag of CITO rubbish. Then, after a wine or three and a great BBQ tea (thank goodness there are still a few smokers about when you need a light), we proceeded under Astronomical guidance to the almost pagan bonfire not far away. On Sunday, the hares and the tortoises set out to find their caches (and more rubbish), except that, unlike the fable, the hares clearly dominated the race results. Just the most tremendous fun. We met a few fellow cachers while doing the rounds (just who was following who?), although in such a relatively small area we were surprised we didn't see more. We thought the placement of many permanent and temporary caches was so innovative. That night, after more food and wine, the transformations took place and everyone emerged with very creative outfits. Our thanks to all for the welcome, friendship and enjoyment. We leave at the end of the month for a long holiday in the US with Slider & Smurf and the soon-to-be geograndchild. We look forward to next year and the next venue. See you all then.
Thanks for the great event, really enjoyed it
Special Thanks to Freddo and crew

Wow... our first ever caching event. What an awesome show. We had a great time chasing caches all day on Sunday and watching the entertainment during then evening. A huge thanks to the merry band of organisers for making this event possible. We'll definitely see you next year. Beakers Bunch - South East Caching Society.
Well the Stanleys are very glad that they made the last minute decision to attend this event. We enjoyed it so much we plan to be there again next year. Everybody was very friendly and we appreciated the help given or offered to us. Kapunda was an excellent choice for the event. We were very impressed with the organisation. Thanks to the organising team for doing such a great job probably at the expense of your own caching.
We had intended to come to this event but due to a number of health issues, plans change. We have the SA GeoQuilt finished and were planning on bringing it. Will have to decide how to get you all to see it best. Glad to hear the event was a success. GGG
Another very successful event, thanks to all the behind the scenes hard work by the organisers, and the spirit of friendly rivalry by all those who attended.
High points for us were the maze and the night cache, and the Sunday night entertainment

Our first event cache and had a great time. We had met some of those attending ‘in the field’, but for the most it was a meeting for the first time. As every newbie always claims, it’s great to put some faces to names, and I’m certainly no exception there. Met some great people and both Auzee and I had a fantastic time. Special thanks to Freddo, Parrot, Barra Skippy and Alex for all the effort. We plan not to miss any more in the future and thanks to Team Astro, who generously offered to set fire to their property to keep us warm [^]. Cheers everyone
It just gets better every year.
This year we got to see more new faces.
Congratulations to Posspet and setsujoku for winning this years event.
Thanks to everyone that come made it a Great Event.

hmm what a weekend. Firstly thanks to the organisers, and everyone else for a great weekend.
We managed to get the new tent up and running with the help of too blue and CAS. After we figured out why we had too many rod's, the tent was a little more stable again. Didnt miss a beat all weekend.
After meeting and greeting the baramundi's and nibs who were camping next to us, we wondered down the road to get a ftf on leo #5. Since we had done about 10 caches for the day a good pub meal was in order. Thanks to geoff from the baramundi's for organising dinner.
Posspet and i knew we were in esteemed company when we sat down at the same table as maccamob, and ian & penny. With so much experience sitting at the table there were some very good caching tales told.
The friday night camp fire kept us all warm, as did the flagon of port consumed by several cachers.
Saturdays briefing gave us a chance to meet and greet others that had arrived that morning. After completing Peter's View, and the 2 caches in hamley bridge, it was time to retire back to the clubrooms, after placing our 2 caches. Thanks must go to alex for organising the night time caching challenge ( and appologies to him for pinching one of his hiding places!!!(see our new cache: reserved))
After completing the mandatory attendance photo, and the caching briefing, we set out and managed to complete 47 out of 54 caches, plus 3 DNF's for the day. We picked up 4 FTF's and one bonus tag. The day was made better by reaching 500 finds early in the afternoon.
after a last minute rush, we made it back by about 4:15, just scrapping 2 caches in in the last 10 minutes of competition.
The sunday night entertainment provided by the uniciycles kept things interesting, and they did an excellent job. Freddo's prizes and creativity lead us away from the fact that we werent in the runners up list, and in fact we had finished 1 point ahead of the well experienced geocoopers.
With much surprise we were grateful to take out the trophey. Thanks again has to go to the organising committee for keeping the days caching running smoothly.
The hardest part will be next year. How are we going to do more than 47 caches!!!
a very good weekend, thank fully without rain.
A hint for next years event though: dont let udderchaos turn a short walk into a drive by.
Thanks for the great weekend, and look forward to seeing everyone at christmas.

What a fun weekend! It was funny to see that when you came to the black thunders you were more excited about choclate then the extra points! Cant wait until next year as I will have me drivers license and will be able to compete myself!
Great to see some old faces (and new ones). See you all next year.

Another fantastic event that was run really well.Great to see new faces and catch up with older ones too. This brings up Zytherans 500th cache, now we can have a rest after after getting the last 100 since April 1st, which has been our busiest caching period we have ever had.A big thanks again to the organisers, the main event went really well!

Wow, What a weekend. The Barramundi's +1 had a great weekend and it was due to all of the wonderful people involved in organising and participating in the event.
From the moment we arrived on Friday afternoon, to being the last to leave on Monday we were made to feel welcome and a belonging to the Geocaching Community.
Sarah had a great 16th Birthday weekend as well and to top it of we had 7 FTF's, officially 6, we dropped one of the tokens at Zytherin great cache.
Thanks to all of you there from The Barramundi's +1

We are bitterly disappointed to not have been able to get to Kapunda, even if it was just to share a cuppa this morning with, hope you're all having a BALL!
I'll have to take the White 4x4 TB 'Gilbert' back without you all having seen it!

Google Earth got better just in time for the weekend!!???Holy crap batman!!As I was checking out around Kapunda today it looks likes the Google people are bringing online hires photos just north of Kapunda.???There were appearing in small pieces (not the normal way the cache on their server offloads files to the client either). Not all zooms are loaded yet but once you are within 4.4km altitude the hires images appear in the centre only of the screen. But new areas load in with adjacent areas unloading as you move around.
OMG!!!!Resolution is about 20cm Now includes Kapunda town plus adjacent areas..

Major Tom disapeared over a year ago after not even leaving the state. Taken out of deep freeze (i.e. Kapunda), his clone will continue the quest into orbit.
Major Tom is in SHOCK.
At this get together he spyeth a certain 'Key to the Kindgom', which from what he recalls is too far to the north.[8][8][8]
Will anyone be game enough to collect it and risk having their final cache log not allowed??

Hoping there is room for 2 more late starters. The Stanleys have made a last minute decision and it looks like we will be attending now that Jezza doesn't have to work Saturday. Well, that is two of us, leaving Stanley 3 at home to look after the cat. Didn't want to drag out our camper but think we have managed to get a cottage at late notice. Look forward to meeting you all. Fancy dress?!? All our dresses are fancy but we will be the ones in warm clothes. Be up there early Saturday morning.
Have an awesome time everybody...I'll be thinking of you all while I'm in my lounge room in front of my heater
dropping TB's in.
All packed and ready to go, car is loaded, now what have i forgotten?

Dropping in TB Coco.

Adding another TB to the pool (or if the forcast is correct it could be the ice rink)
Zytheran will be attempting 2 aditional "fun things" this weekend.
The first will be a small directional maze of roughly 5m by 5m that you walk through. This will be outside. Signs in the maze will indicate which way you can go at each intersection. Solving this maze in the shortest path will give you coordinates to a cache.
Construciton will be stake and tape.
(If someone has a few dozen haybales they don't want I'm happy to leave the maze set up at Kapunda)
The second will need 3 volunteers to help out with. This puzzle will be indoors and I will need 5 tables and chairs and a bunch of people to actually do it. If you get frustrated easily you might not want to do it but feel free to help me and MiniZyth1 out. It should take up to 45 minutes to complete. It is sort of a virtual cache hunt but no GPS required.. It has never been done at any caching event and the concept has only been done a few times ever..
So if you can sit at a table and hand out pieces of paper for 45 minutes whilst watching other people slowly go insane please let me know. It could be entertaining. It's a simple task to do btw, I've already done the hard bit.

Can you please put me and uncle posspet down for dinner on friday as well.
We will make our way up that way friday morning, and at this stage will be setting up a tent for the weekend on our powered site.
Hint: if anyone wants a good laugh, BYO camera, and deck chair, whilst watching us put the tent up.
Just dropping my GCA coin in for a visit as well

there seems to be some (ok ok a lot of) interest in people watching posspet and i make fools of ourselves putting this tent up.
What will make it more interesting is that its a 10 man tent (we like our space, dont want 2 ppl to be too cramped now do we), and i have never used it before.
All this should make for an interesting sight.

Hi, we are booked into the Sir John Franklin Hotel, no set time at this stage just 6.30 onwards, I've asked them to keep the kitchen open to 9 PM, they said that should be fine if we had good numbers, well our numbers are up to 22 seats so far. Any more?
A bit of History on the Hotel.
"The very first time that the Riot Act was read here in South Australia it was read from the he balcony of the Sir John Franklin Hotel." Late last century Kapunda was a fairly rough and ready place with a volatile mix of nationalities. One day that ethic cocktail exploded into violence in the town's main street following the declaration of a local poll. "It was the police superintendent Mr Quelly at the time who actually came up to Kapunda and read the Riot Act probably to four to five hundred people who were mulling out in the street out there."

If you want a 9mb image of the playing field and OziExplorer calibration files I have them on CD ($2) in the shop or if you can take it email let me know ([email protected]; [email protected])and I'll send it to you.
The image is a 1:50,000 scale topographic map with a cadastral overlay (which shows property boundaries and road reserves) plus the Heysen Trail.

Small change to our plans:
We will be there late friday now. Should be interesting setting up the camper in the dark for its first *real* outing Kristen&Les from Adelaide will be travelling with us. Seeya all then!! Andrew&Leesa

Posspet Boys (singular) will attend the event. Just booked and the guy seems excited to be so busy. Now all I have to do is find all the Geocaching equipment needed. Torch, string, tape measure, oh yes....GPS, bucket, spade, fluoro vest, stupid hat, fancy costume (not Big Bird), etc. etc.
