As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

I noticed that this cache has been in need of owner attetion for a period of time well in excess of the period of "a few weeks" as contemplated by the cache guidelines published on Geocaching.com. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other caches from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it (using the archive listing link in the upper right) so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location.

If you plan on repairing this cache, please log a note to the cache (not email) within the next 30 days so I don't archive the listing for non-communication.

Tried again today and after previously finding WP1 we were unable to do so today (we have displaced the coordinates, so had to start again). No reaction to the previous needs maintenance notice - so assuming that this cache can go.

22-Feb-15
Any updates on the maintenance of this cache, keen to add this to our count...

17-Feb-15
I missed that way point five times before I finally had it in hand, and then it was with a friend! It's a real tricky find

17-Feb-15
I have been told by previous finders what to look for. Waypoint 1 is missing. Please replace. It looks like a good multi.

08-Feb-15
STARED BUT DID NOT SEE, THINK STRUCTURE IS DAMAGED.

22-Nov-14
Dnf here, needs checking as I agree part of structure appears missing

Think this needs archiving. Lots of the structure has been replaced.

Really great to sign the log on this one as we had the first WP two years ago at least and never completed. In the end a very quick find and a goody!!! Was supposed to be at a golf working bee that never happened so nipped around to see if I could locate and voila!! Thank you. (Final still in a good dry condition)

29-Jul-13
After 15 mins of staring we gave up. Have to look another time.

20-Jun-13
We were looking like crazy here, and spent a good 20 mins... but amongst 2 pairs of eyes looking at all different heights, we still couldn't spot it...

18-Jun-13
I have been of two minds about this one for a while now, should I or shouldn't I? I have started filling grids and am slightly hooked and being of a compulsive nature I had to come and attempt this one now as it ticked two boxes. One, being a multi and two being placed on a date that would tick a box for me on my 'date placed' matrix. I had 45mins up my sleeve before I needed to grab my youngest cachelet. I headed out and started staring... and staring. A few muggles walked by and greeted me. I still stared... I looked at the the log and and I grew a bit and then spotted something suspicious. Bingo, found it. I didn't quite read the description and hints correctly. So, at the final I ended up looking for another wp!! I used a PAF and he said it was the final! Doh, I quickly found the cache and was happy to sign the log. Great wp to start the adventure.
Thanks for the cache.

Very quick and easy find Tftc

25-Apr-13
Don't be surprised to see a new caching team appear in the area soon - we were spotted by a coupl at the 1st waypoint who asked what we were doing. Having given them a thorough explanation we gave them the website address and carried on Wink
At the final I was on the phone so relied on Bo(&bronnie) and his gpsr to get the final. Tftc

You would have to be more than eight foot for this to be at eye level but we did it

06-Jan-13
Em found WP1 very quickly! We were all stunned. This is one of my favourite caches ever. TFTC.

Em found WP1 very quickly! Great cache! Found with ZWAP. TFTC

This find was so fitting for the end of the world! I had ambled past waypoint 1 in my lunchbreaks and after work several times, just in case something stood out for me. As I had eliminated areas, I was narrowing things down.... Then I say a rusty something - could it be - no can't be, but it was. Took a while to get from it's hiding place and longer to try & read. Took a photo just in case I needed to refer back to it. That was lunchtime sorted. Returned after work and the GZ got a local dog very interested and me a bit bushwacked.... got the photo out and decided to change one co-ordinate. That worked much better but still had me looking a bit worse for wear - must take change of clothes with me to work! Goats were hiding in the shade today, so didn't disturb me. TFTC - one Lincoln cache to go (that I'm holding out as an emergency cache - day 106 of streak)

09-Nov-12
Kiwicampnut and I spent some time staring, and comparing with no luck.
Wondering if replacement wood in the structure had meant the first waypoint had vanished ...
We'll try again another day.

Out in Lincoln with RuruNZ to find some caches. After about half hour of staring just as school kids were heading this way, we decided to call it quits. Think we know what to look for but no sign of it. New wood has been added in several places which hopefully hasn't spoiled this waypoint but then who knows? A return in the future I think.

16-Sep-12
Lots of hunting - eventually small hands located it... TVM

31-Aug-12
Decided to visit on the way to work to finish off the Rye after the misunderstanding the other day. A nice quick find thanks, even got to work on time!!

29-Aug-12
Found the waty point easily enough, then went looking for a second way point at GZ with no luck. Flash of inspiration at home and and realised the second waypoint was an actual box! Next dot day I'll hunt for the prize....

26-Aug-12
Found first WP fairly quickly with a teeny bit of help from Team Hot PJ. But sadly, no GPS so could only enter the WP co-ords using Google Maps on the iPhone. These put GZ smack bang in the middle of somebody's yard! Tried looking other side of the fence but very difficult approach and the hint didn't help at all as the area to be covered is quite large. Will have to try again another time. A better clue for GZ would be helpful?

08-Jul-12
Oh dear. Fourth visit. Just about a bi-annual pilgrimage here. Must remember to ask CO to take pity on me and give me WP1 instructions a toddler can understand! Been here with Kiwi_Explorer, the whole family and by myself. I really wanted that aha moment today! Smile

Great hide at wp1, used the hint as getting late, tftc

15-May-12
Quick find. First way point was a goody.

10-Mar-12
A very cool hide for WP1 - couldn't see anything but then read some older logs. A lovely spot for the final. TFTC.

Thanks - this one was fun

04-Dec-11
A lovely entrance area for WP1, but couldn't get very far spotting the position. The geokids had more fun on the Ripstick, than I did.

01-Oct-11
We came here 7months ago,and left without a Smiley:( But today Finaly found the little Rascal as it had been bugging us since then.Glad to have it off our list, and enjoyed the Hunt,in a very nice area.TFTC

30-Sep-11
TFTC. I utilised all of my powers of observation with a positive outcome. The gardens are looking beautiful around here as were the aquatic birds. Thanks for the fun.

18-Sep-11
Eventually found WP1, once the GPS settled down. Initally wandered along the path on the wrong side of the stream. Once at GZ couldn't find the final. Then read the hint and the cache was easily found. TFTC.

27-Aug-11
Wow I am so glad to finally get this one off my list. I had a go at it a couple of years ago but had no luck and finally got another chance today and managed to come up trumps. Well done. TFTC. Cheers Bo

31-Jul-11
Found WP1 some time ago, but again no luck with WP2. This is too much for us, we found the object mentioned in the hint, but that was it! No way to move it and no idea what to look for. Have to try again.

01-Jul-11
A bit of pondering at both WP and final but got it. Nice multi. TFTC (245)

05-May-11
I'd been here previously a while ago with no luck for wp1, but the last log gave me new confidence. Found wp quickly; have returned in a similar findable position! Given the location it is quite clear that if it's jammed in no one will ever find it! Lovely walk at the final. Nice one, thanks.

26-Apr-11
TFTC looked at logs but was determined to find it but the first clue was definitely there

26-Apr-11
I finally found it after all with a little help from a friend who found it on AKO 2010
The problem with WP1 seemed to be that the tag was wedged inside the gap quite deeply. So deep in fact that I to use a cutting utensil (knife) to get it out.

People shouldn't have too much difficulty finding the WP now.
It's almost like the Cache is back in business.

Great Cache Thanks
Alex Hilliard

Sigh....again. This time the new GPS took me to quite a different part of the structure. I also noted that some of the timber on the road side of said structure has fallen off/been removed???

25-Mar-11
We came by here, and stayed quite some time.Could'nt find anything of interest, that might have been Waypoint1..Is it still there. Will keep watching for further developments.

20-Mar-11
Would it be too much to ask for a check on WP1? (At least). This is my second time coming away with nothing, and it would be nice to have the encouragement of knowing there is something to find! Thank you.

20-Feb-11
It might be me but it looks like the WP is missing

07-Nov-10
great hide for the first part - enjoyed it! - cache was looking a little soggy and musty as hasnt been found for a while, but still okay

06-Nov-10
Nice tricky one- first point will have a few wondering and second point isnt that obvious either ! Smile

30-Jan-10
The last time I looked for this cache was just over two years ago and I spent a frustrating half hour looking for WP1 which turned out to have been muggled. This time it was there and quite easy to find. However, there was nothing at WP2 that was of any help so I will probably read in a while that it has been muggled and that I can look for it in a couple of years time on my next visit. Perseverence. TFTC DS8300

01-Jan-10
With legible co-ords, and after a pleasant stroll, finally knocked this one off. Most enjoyable multi, thanks.

Took some time on this one but managed it after a bit of a re-think
Nice spot for watching Dragonflies.

24-Dec-09

A nice multi quick find by Jnr EU. Took TB. TFTC

13-Dec-09
Took some looking but found it. Nice location

08-Nov-09
Glad this one is back up and running so we could clear it off our list. What a lovely subdivision. Great views of the hills on the way here with the cloud rolling over the tops and down into the valleys. TFTC and the excellent WP. Left TB

07-Nov-09
At last........... Smile the way point has now been replaced geokatNZ

19-Oct-09
Found the cunning waypoint but alas it is no longer legible-very frustrating as we had made a special trip out to Lincoln to "clean" up the area on our map.

18-Oct-09
Yes a very frustration cache this one as I have been to the first waypoint about 3 times and today I finally found what I was looking for but then relised that it still has not been fixed Bugger, and couldnt read the coordinates. So this cache needs to be put on hold until its fixed.. Cheers Bo

17-Aug-09
ooops! I certainly did mean illegible Red Face

15-Aug-09
Have had an unsuccessful visit to this one a couple of months ago. Was staying close by for a couple of days and noted that the owner was about to change the waypoint marker with a new shiney one. So went out this evening to look. Found the old rusty metal with half the coordinates OK but the the half unreadable. So looked at the last clue and remembered an old story where goats used to play and by deduction was lucky and found the cache. Thankyou for the initial frustrations but pleased to have made the find. TFTC

14-Aug-09
When I arrived in Lincoln this afternoon, discovered that I had only one set of Lincoln co-ords in my GPS and this wasn't it - D'oh. Luckily I could remember StreetWalkerNZ telling me about this tricky WP when we had been in the area a while ago, so managed to locate WP1.
Unfortunately, the decimal part of the S co-ord is now illegal, so was unable to continue. Sad

14-Aug-09
Im assuming that they mean illegible not illegal....!!!!!!!!!!!
I have the technology to repair the WP1 and will do so this weekend.
it will be all shiny and new - a good time to hunt it.

06-Aug-09
Standing and staring for an hour or so at WP 1 did not give a result the first time, apart from a lot of funny looks from muggles that is. Second time was more fruitful, and the location was found after a short while. I could have sworn that I looked in this spot before. The coordinates are getting hard to read now and could do with a touch up. I found the cache using half the coordinates in the end. A very clever cache, but a very frustrating one too. A real challenge. TFTC TNLN

04-Aug-09
Tried for about 10 mins to find first waypoint...hmmmm....will return for another look in the future

26-Jul-09
We had stood and looked and poked in all the places we could find half a dozen times over the last 12 months. Then today we must have been thinking higher thoughts and there WP was. It is a bit worn and difficult to read. Managed after a false start to go in the right direction. TFTC

16-Jul-09
Still had a lot of trouble finding the waypoint, and needed a FAF to be guided right in. Once waypoint had been spotted, removal took a little while as it has been a few months since moved and it 'fixed in place' - shall we say. Final cache was quite a bit easier. Good to knock this one off at last. Cheers Gav [3866]

16-Jul-09
Stood and stared, peered, scrutinised, investigated, puzzled and 'tested' an object. Hmmm, not seeing a WP. Went away and found another cache. Used my 'call a friend' for help! Stood and stared, wondered, squinted... that's gotta be it! WP spotted but determined to stay put. With a little persuasion Redinguana soon had it free, but it may cause trouble yet. The final was easy in comparison Smile TFTC

19-Apr-09
went to find it with rajwill and stood and looked for about an hour and diddnt have any luck

01-Feb-09
You utter, utter, utter, UTTER ... a word has yet to be invented to describe what kind of devious creature you are, but you are one, and an utter one at that!

Wink

WP given up on. Went and found a nearby cache. Came back. Reviewed. PING! There it is! Now, it seems so OBVIOUS. And I'm very annoyed that it's exactly what I thought it should be and looked for, but didn't see.

In a good way.

Anyway, cache found. Very enjoyable, if frustrating. Smile

17-Jan-09
Found at last, clue helped although it is still difficult to see WP object.

15-Jan-09
Sorry, as one of the sad faces, your additional clue was actually an assumption anyway, given the emphasis on a particular word, so it offers nothing new to me. Hopefully it will help others. Smile

10-Jan-09
WP1 is still in situ.
To reduce the number of sad faces Sad( for this cache we have added some additional clues for waypoint one. Good luck in 2009.

09-Jan-09
Went on a caching mission to Lincoln this evening, got 0/3. Failed at this one second. I confess I have no idea what to stare at.

GZ at the WP homed in on one corner so I thoroughly explored (I thought) everything possible in that corner, but could not locate the WP.

06-Jan-09
Yet to find - ran out of time. Must confess not entirely sure what the clues mean. Will sleep on it.

19-Dec-08
couldn't find at first (luckily Sevren was with me). some school mates walked past as I was about the waypoint back.

17-Dec-08
Thanks to Sevren for de-fuzzing the co-ords for the cache at WP1. Would hate to have found WP1 & not be able to see the numbers! A sight for sore eyes? Very tricky WP1, 3 muggle walkers passed us when we arrived, same 3 returning as we were leaving so hopefully they thought we were on a similar walk in reverse direction! We didn't have the clue to the final cache but managed to locate it quite easily. What an interesting area of Lincoln we wouldn't visit otherwise. TFTC

15-Dec-08
Spent an age looking for WP1 and was about to give up but saw what I was after. The cache I put my hand right on. Easy find in the end. I also hopefully made the numbers easier to read at WP1 as they were getting a little hard to read.
TNLN TFTC

Doing my near annual pilgramage to WP1 to register another DNF. Gotta bump the DNF count up Sad Cheers Gav

Oye mate, I was looking for my own cache (GC1DF4N) when I found yours. Great name. I lived in Australia for 3 years then had to return to the states for various reasons. When I return maybe I'll head over and give this one a go Big Grin

25-Jul-08
The local bakery will regret the day we finaly find this oneTwisted

05-Apr-08
Spotted WP1 hide immediately - from other log records, we were lucky. So, we thought the final would be a piece of chocolate cake - no such luck. We had two looks and even went back to WP1 to verify the coords. Although it didn't rain much last night, I followed my GPS and got mud-soaked up to my ankle. Bummer. What was interesting is that a shoot of a flax bush was woven into a lovely design. I wonder who would take the time to do something so lovely and artsy. TFTC anyway. We have good friends (formerly from Nelson) who are building a home only metres away.

24-Feb-08
Forgot to log TB Murphy's Paw dropped off.

24-Feb-08
Thank you for redoing the first waypoint - no trouble to find now that it's there!!!
Also no problem finding the cache.

24-Feb-08
Easy when you know how (and there is actually something to look for!!) With Merry Wheeler who must now seem like a local she has been back so many times! Lucky I was with them as managed to key in wrong coords which would have had me in someones garden! TFTC! - Swamp ManTB + Murpy's Paw TB

23-Feb-08
HI
A new widget is now in place at WP1.
Happy hunting.

18-Feb-08
I had a look this afternoon at where I remember WP1 to be and couldn't see it - it's close to work so I can go and put a replacement WP if you'd like. Cheers.

08-Feb-08
Add us to the list of those who stood and stared, and poked about in one or two spots, but we had no luck or inspiration whatsoever. Ah well... not really an area of Canterbury we go to often, but perhaps we will be passing again some other time.

03-Feb-08
Well this was 4th visit for me & 5th for Sheelagh. Spent another fruitless half hour, despite having had an extra clue from GeoKat. Looks like we have abandoned our searching for this and will admit to be lacking in observation skills. About one and a half hours total spent in the spot, so feel sure our faces are known in the locality now!!
:I Sad

02-Feb-08
Grrr! Looked and looked. Where was junior geocacher when I needed him most? Out with Merry Wheeler for the morning. No luck on this one!

28-Jan-08
It seems that once each summer I need to come and log a DNF on WP1. Although I must have forgotten to log it last year. Once again, came and observed, with what I'd like to think is now a fairly observant caching eye, but no, still couldn't find the sodding thing. Oh well, I'll be back next summer... Cheers Gav

19-Jan-08
We stood and stared and stood and stared. Not sure if we will back as we have logged all the other caches in the whole area 30 km SW of Christchurch. DS8300

10-Jan-08
How long can one stand and stare before others start looking back? Too subtle for us at the moment. We will be back!
Jan 11th - dreamt about this all night. Think I might have an idea now, so will try it out when next through.

Jan 25th - no, I was wrong!! Still absolutely no idea. Might have to enlist some friends help!!

Feb 2nd - No Luck again. Had Cock of the Rock helping, but no joy. Oh Dear!! Mustn't totally give up though.

27-Dec-07
Well, must admit defeat at WP1, stood and stared for ages and nothing doing. Ran through a mental checklist of possibilities and stupidly dismissed the correct one far too quickly.

Gave sp8sm8 a call for an additional hint and was quite amazed that he actually arrived at the cahe in person within about 5 mins, woohoo, can't do better than PAF with house calls thrown in as well! Wouldn't of got it otherwise so many thanks for the "coaching" along sp8's.

Final an absolute doodle in comparison. Man, that WP1 is a hard one!

TNLNSL, TFTC

22-Dec-07
What a cunning hide at wp1. Stood / sat there for quite a while then started think what would I do here and there it was. The final was a breeze in comparison.

TFTC, really enjoyed it. +TB

23-Nov-07
Not found, stared from those damm pavers for ages!!

04-Oct-07
I stood for ages staring into space but just could not see what I was ment to see , so I will just have to come back here again some time,,cheers

16-Sep-07
We were out caching with Pathdoc and were just on the verge of giving up on WP1 when it was spotted. Must have looked at it a million times! Cache was an easy find with the hint. Nice walk. TNLN Thanks Big Grin

23-Jul-07
Always satisfying when finding something challenging like WP1 Smile
Enjoyed the walk.

28-Jun-07
Spent a while at WP1 (very cunning). Not many muggles around given that it was only 4 or 5 degrees at lunch time (a sharp frost followed by a cloudy day).
