Find #: 3,484Companions: NoneMuggles: None near GZWeather: Gorgeous summer morningCache condition: GoodI needed some run-training on hills for some races this year, so decided to have another go to find this cache, after an unsuccessful search a few years ago. I came down the Warrimoo Track from S'Nives, and Down is the operative word - so steep, and a bit damp after the recent rain, but still a lovely track. Once at GZ I had no problems finding the container, with some tell-tale camo keeping it safe from muggles. TNLNSL, then I headed back up the hill, where I saw some workmen testing the powerlines. I asked one of them if they had turned them off while they work, and he not only confirmed that they had not, but that they could feel the pulses while up there - better them than me!! Thanks for the cache.
Continuing from the sphinx virtual and pretty much, all downhill from the top. Had sneaked a peak at the hint thus, walked around to those items for a surprise quick find, thanks
Replaced red container that was cracked and slightly mouldy with a new larger green tinged container which is airtight. Hid the container a bit better and added some extra swag.
I was out caching with GeoIan this afternoon, we had a nice walk down from the spynx virtual. At GZ we searched around for a while before making the find in a surprising spot. Thanks for the cache night watchman tnln replaced as found sl
In the area to grab the virtual for the month with Mighty Minions, we decided to walk down to this one. Pleasant walk down in great company. We got near to gz, and started looking too early as gz was showing 15M off target. Thought it a strange spot for gz in a NP so far from the track, but continued to search. Phone was getting a little jumpy, when MM called out its over here, which is where i should of been. Strangley, its quite visible from the track, and really nothing else there to cover it, so we left it as found. Now the walk back up all those stairs.
Despite not being logged since last year, a few scout groups have found it in the interim and just not logged online. Was a little exposed but dry and in good order. A good old cache this one.
Nice little walk on a warm sunny day, only got a little bit sunburnt.
Made it hard for ourselves initially by looking in harder spots. Started reading the logs and then found it very easily, surprised we didn’t see it before.
Left some goodies in there as it was looking a little bare.
Nice spot, water nearby was interesting. Someone left a lot of rubbish so we trucked it back out.
Thanks for the cache!

Found on my third attempt at this one. Prevously I've had 2 completely different GZ locations and even some wild searches all over the place, but today the GPS gods took me straight there and an obvious location and hint of color revealed the cache.

Fascinating that over 1.5 years unfound, this cache gets found within hours by two cachers...
Came down from the Sphinx, and whilst we thought the descent in would be very bad for the way out, it surprisingly was very manageable.
Maps for this one indicates it's between the Sphinx and Warrimoo track - which is located on a slope (my worst kinds of GZs, particularly as this was fairly overgrown and had fallen branches). This is incorrect, and you're definitely better off looking for this off the Warrimoo track as the CO's description indicates.
I tend to have a habit of making things harder than they are, and followed the GPS arrow right to where GZ was indicated (which involved a bit of a climb/bush bash). Rest assured to all future finders this is *not* required (would like to limit the amount of erosion/trampling here as it is a national park).
The cache itself is actually well accessible from the trail, and whilst the hint attached to the description may confirm you're in the rough area, it may also be a deterrent. Was going to sample coordinates, but think the information above should be enough for a few more finds.
All in order beyond that - thanks for getting this one back up and running night_watchman, always good to find a NP cache and indeed work up a bit of a sweat!

Hot day for a run down from the Sphinx to this cache and back up again. A more gradual decline than the Warrimoo track (which has most of the decline concentrated in on small stretch), but more rocky. Nice new log book the write in. Cache well hidden and container in good condition. TFTC!
I visited the cache after work and found that indeed it was missing. Now completely replaced it with new logbook and a few small items in a red container.
Sadly there has been no updates or response to the Needs Maintenance requests.

I will check the geocache this weekend to see if any maintenance needs to be done.
In the vicinity, noted propr DNFs, had a look anyway and think we found the log (see pic). At least, we hope that's what it was. Beautiful walk in our LGA which broke us out of lockdown torpor on a warm winter afternoon. Cache not there, needs replacing or archiving.
I decided to run down Warrimoo Track and used this as the turnaround point. Once at GZ I had a good look around various possible hiding spots, but couldn't find the container - not sure if the conditions have changed as per the previous searcher, or I wasn't giving enough range for an iPhone GPS + a valley. Lovely spot though (climb back up the hill, less fun ).
Approached the cache via the Warrimoo Track, lovely area. Used the Garmin and iPhone to search thoroughly. A lot of work is being done on the track where the GPS indicated GZ - cut trees and bushes, plus movement of soil. Wondering if the cache has been accidentally moved or covered.
The family needed exercise in these isolated times, so we settled on a short (but interesting bushwalking). We made the find without any trouble. The container unfortunately was a bit exposed and the lid was off, but everything inside was dry - except for the ziplock bag that I assume was supposed to protect the log. After signing we gave it a new bag, put everything back together and hid it where we think it should have been. Nice to see a large container with lots of swag. The coordinates were pretty well spot-on. TFTC - and helping to decide which bushwalking to use for exercise.
Our family went for a bushwalking to get some exercise and we found this cache before the tough walk back up. I enjoyed taking my shoes off and wading in Cowan Creek with my brothers. TFTC.
Decided to target this oldie today. Came down the track via the Sphinx, and if you have not been here, then you need to come and visit this memorial. cam across a couple of lace monitors, but the highlight of our trek apart from finding the cache was to find a very large fresh water crayfish along the way. We suspect that this one was a fairly old female.
The cache was easily found once we got to GZ. Thanks Night Watchman... Great cache in a beautiful location.

Decided to mix up my caching a bit lately by setting specific goals for each caching day. Today's main goal was getting three virtuals. Any additional caches were a bonus. A quick little walk here after virtual two for the day.

Today we visited this great location. With one car parked near the Sphinx, and one at Bobbin Head we started out walk from Bobbin Head back to the Sphinx along the Warrimoo track.
It was a great walk with nice views, lots of fish in the water and warm sunny rock ledges which are the perfectt place for a picnic or a cuppa.
Before starting our ascend to the Sphinx we paused to find this cache. We did it the hard way, through the bush. After some searching around (in these cases the phone-GPS is pretty useless) the cache was found.

Easier going than I first thought it'd be! It took me 20 minutes to walk here from the sphinx. I inadvertently needlessly cut through the bush to reach GZ as there is now a fairly well-established path through it. Delighted to find a nice sized cache at GZ, which was easily spotted thanks to the accurate coordinates.
Thanks for this oldie! Absolutely spectacular views nearby. So still and silent. What a fantastic place this is. TFTC.

A nice walk. Slight more downhill than I expected but not too strenuous. We went down the sphinx path and were a little bit confused about where we should exit find the cache. After reading the logs we read you did not do any bush bashing. It true! Soon down at water level, we had the cache in hand.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
I approached this cache from the Bobbin Head end of the track, preferring the longer walk to the steep descent and ascent at the Sphinx end. I'd planned to be underway by about ten and be back about noon for lunch, but ended up not starting until closer to eleven so it was a bit warmer than I would have preferred. Nonetheless there was plenty of shade along the track so it was a pleasant walk.
When I reached the track junction near GZ, I had to pick the high road or the low, and of course picked the wrong one and ended up bush-bashing my way through only to find the cache right next to the other track. Oh well. An easy find at the end, with everything in great condition.
On the way back I noticed a huge cave in the cliff-face above the track. With lots of shell remains scattered across the ground below, I guess this was once home to one of the Aboriginal communities.
Many thanks for this enjoyable hide.

After a second attempt to find this cache and with a proper GPS, finally we found this cache nicely hidden.
Cache is in good condition.
Thanks CO for replacing this cache.

OCW the Bebes who needed this one for her JASMER challenge. We headed out here after my usual Sunday footy game and parked just outside the park. Must admit I didn’t expect quite so many steps and after a full game of footy it posed a nice challenge!!
Anyhow we got to GZ and searched around for a little while. Both our iPhones coords were jumping around a fair bit as quite a weak signal. Anyhow, the Bebes eventually shouted those two fab caching words ‘found it’.
We signed the log and headed back out. Up and down the steps again. Glad I don’t have to go back in a hurry!

Happy to see this one replaced at it was a very useful “date hidden” for me.
Parked outside the NP and followed the Sphinx track....oooh those steps!
Once at GZ we overshot the cache and spent a good ten minutes clambering over rocks and starting to panic. I backtracked for a better signal and thankfully spotted a very cache like concealment.
Enjoyed the contents of this one

Great to get back down here with the container replaced. MV and I had been down here at 2am on the Oxfam trail with traffic worse than Pennant Hills road in peak hour. SO we had a good look for the cache and found where it would have been! Back here 6 months later now that it has been replace, and yep! It's right where we thought it would be. TFTC!!!
Did not found. Cache might have been muggled again or the coordinates are incorrect.
Maintenance required.

Now that the cache has been replaced I decided to come back this way for another go. The bush walking around this area is great!
GPS was a bit jumpy but only a little bit of searching was required to make the find - nice one!
Clever idea with the content... followed the instructions and left my mark! Also left TB.

I visited the cache yesterday and it was missing!
Today I've completely replaced the cache with new contents, log book and container. I've hidden and secured it behind a log.
Should be good to go now.

The missing cache has been replaced. Sorry to those who searched for this one when it was missing.
Multiple DNFs and a Needs Maintenance request have all not been responded to. If the cache isn't able to be found it should be archived.

###**CACHE OWNER ACTION REQUIRED PLEASE**###

I've noticed this cache is carrying a maintenance log which really does need to be addressed by the cache owner.
The guidelines indicated that periodic visits to check on the cache, as well as prompt attention to any logs that indicate there is a problem, are part of the [**cache owners responsibilities.**](https://www.geocaching.com/play/guidelines#listingmaintenance) If you can't attend to the issue promptly, then you need to [**Disable it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=235) - I have Disabled it for you this time.
**Can you please respond to this situation (or indicated your intention) within 14 days,** so others know exactly what is happening with this cache?
You have lots of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:
- Check on the cache, repair and/or replace the cache or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) indicating the cache has been checked and [**ENABLE your cache.**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ) Then sit back and wait for the praises.
- If you really hope to get it fixed but there is some unusual reason why you can't do it soon, then at least post a Write Note log (within 14 days). Be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it. For ongoing issues (where you don't have an actual date) please ensure you visit the page and post a note every 28 days so as to keep everyone up to speed.
- If you don't plan on fixing it then you could consider passing it on to another geocacher by asking them to [**Adopt it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=54) or alternatively, you need to [**Archive it,**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56) so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.
You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of those. Well, if nothing happens, then a few weeks from today, when I next look at the cache page, it is likely that I will unfortunately have to de-list (Archive) it on the basis that it has been abandoned.
Honestly, I'd rather you decide so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.

GPS and phone both pointed to pretty much the same place so I'm fairly sure I was searching in the right area. Broadened the search area and still no luck.
I have missed the obvious before... but it's been a long time since the last find and GZ appears to have experienced some deterioration so perhaps a CO check might be needed.

Rare spot of sun and a lovely day near the riverwith Miss Jane. Easy find but a great excuse to be here. TFTC !!
Fairly quick find.
Best way to get to GZ is down to creek level, then upstream along the path. No bush-bashing required!

Today we all headed up to St Ives to have a look at a few Mystery & Multi caches, and also a couple of Traditionals. This was our 1st of 4 finds, and 2 DNF's, for the afternoon.
Parked the geomobile in the Sphinx carpark and, after having a look at the Sphinx memorial, headed off down the Sphinx Track toward GZ. Descended the steep track down past the small cave and on until we were about 20 metres or so from GZ. We then left the track and headed through the bush to reach GZ.
The creek near GZ is very black & smelly at the moment and could do with a good flushing, when we eventually get some worthwhile rainfall. Quickly spotted the hide and had CIH. Opened up the nice big box, signed & stamped the log book, TNLN, then replaced as found.
And now it's time for the long steep hike back up the track to the geomobile. TFTC night watchman.

Found this one while on a 6-hour rogain (like orienteering) in the area with a friend. Nice quick find, and we then proceeded to go the wrong way. Then we turned back round, and passed the cache [again] and carried on. Tftc
Discovered that my husband's friend is a geocacher while visiting ... and that he hid a cache. Got to go caching with the CO. Nice little hike to get to the find. Had fun with the photo props.
Found on a lovely round-trip walk via Bobbin Head and The Sphinx - well worth it if you have a few hours. Otherwise just a kinda steep trip down and up from the Sphinx. You could avoid the $12 National Park fee by parking before the entrance booth on Bobbin Head Road. Cache in good condition though one of the swaps seemed a but questionable. Took nothing, left log entry.
Thanks! Our first cache after a few years of being too busy - silly us. A bit easy to spot with the container lid colour poking out of hiding, so we added a few extra bits of bush to conceal.
While this cache is not that far from home for some reason we have never quite got round to it but today we wanted to make a find and with good weather headed off for a nice after noon walk. A few trees down from the recent storms. We came in from the Sphinx track and down we went. As we neared GZ we had an incoming PAF from a fellow cacher and after recalling what we could from 15 months ago started our search only to pop out on the lower part of the trail and spotted the tell tail sign of a hide. Nice to see a good sized cache. We completed the signing duties and re hid. A few puffs on the way out when one of the team decided to run up some of the stairs only to discover some more. TFTC

A day out with the Geowife, so we went to Bobbin Head.
Started by visiting The Sphinx (amazingly she had never been before) and then steeled ourselves for the hike to this cache.
Well, it certainly goes down, and down! Meaning the way back is all up and up. And UP!
Closing in on GZ we came across a cache guardian which was wary of us but never ran into the bush, even when we eventually walked past it.
Once nearby, I bush bashed down the hill to the cache. The Geowife more sensible just took the track!
Pretty quick find in the end.
Completed signing duties and took the obligatory photo in the cap and glasses.
Grabbed *The Perpetual Hitcher* TB, dropped *Take a bus ride* TB.
Nice walk - we met another walker about 100 metres from the car on the way back.
Then we drove to Bobbin Head and took in the mangrove walk and a spot of late lunch.
Nice day.

I reached this after walking from the rangers station via Bobbin track and the sphinx. It was a hot day and I was starting to get quite tired so I'm glad it was a fairly simple hide. I doubt I would've had success with much more at this stage. Now all that needed to be done was walk all the way back. Thanks.
Found this one while trekking from St Ives to Bobbin Head. The GPSr and iPhone disagreed about location and oscillated wildly between 0 and 10 metres. So I sat on a convenient rock to gather my thoughts and lo and behold there it was right before me. At that point the GPSr and iPhone decided to collaborate and belatedly reported that the cache was 0 metres away. I took the A72HX3 Travel Bug. Thanks Night Watchman.

A short drive through Bobbin Head and parked at the Sphinx War Memorial. Enjoyed revisiting one of the Oxfam tracks on this hot morning. Thought GZ was closer to the intersection of the Warrimoo track and had to backtrack a little bit before venturing off the trail. I must have approached from the right angle as I spotted the cache very quickly. SL and left Mad Maddox TB. Cache and contents in good order - but I didn't take the opportunity for a selfie . Found a little track across the creek which joined the firetrail which I followed back to the Sphinx Memorial. Saw a goanna and wallaby along the way. TFTC.

Found a little track across the creek which joined the firetrail which I followed back to the Sphinx Memorial. Saw a goanna and wallaby along the way. TFTC.
Have a few things on today so headed off for a quick discovery on route to hardware (via the long way around). From Bobbin Head Road past the memorial and the down, down the track to the junction at the creek. GPS playing games and required a hard reboot to re locate some satellites. When around GZ GPS was pushing me into the bush but from the logs I knew that was not required. Stopped by a largish rock where GPS settled down to 6m, looked around and there she was. In good nick, though pencil needs sharpening. Signed log then returned back up, up , up. Through the Spinx memorial on way back which looks like it needs a little TLC. Thanks for the exercise!
Very nice winter's day and a last minute decision to go on a Bushwalk. Geodad happy to come along at the drop of a hat. Easy find next to the path and a nice large container for two TBA that I have held onto for far too long. Highly recommended walk. TFTC.
I counted 343 steps on the way down from Nth Turramurra side.
It took a little longer to find without any GPS, GZ is pretty much just next to the track though.
Thanks for the Pink P. I'll find him a new home.

Found with CJ this afternoon whilst out on our calendar gap chase cache which took us back to Bobbin Head.
There are a few new ones that we haven't done around here and it was great to chase these down and get them off the nearby list. Today the weather was perfect for a stroll down Sphinx Track and through the National Park. It was nice after so much recent rain, although it was still very wet. CJ quickly spotted the cache once in the dense bush GZ. The coords were excellent. We soon had the cache in hand for signing duties. The container is in good nick and the log is dry. We signed and replaced it exactly as we found it.
It was a great day for a walk and of course finding another cache Thanks night_watchman for your cache. We enjoyed it. SL TNLN TFTC

Found with AM. Great walk and way to get a work out in, going back up the stairs. We got close to the GZ and then went off trail to get to the GZ but there was no need. We could have continued on down the stairs and at the trail sign taken a right to the GZ. Didn't nee to leave the path to find the GZ. SL & R. TFTC, night_watchman!
With my streak now officially over, I didn't need a cache today but it was nice and cool and I felt like a walk in the bush so I chose this one as a destination. I parked at the end of Warrimoo Avenue and really enjoyed the trek in, which was basically level walking to the steps then downhill the rest of the way with a couple of straightforward creek crossings. I have not been down this way before, the scenery is spectacular.
At GZ the GPSr struggled a little but I widened my search and it did not take long to spot the tell-tale signs.
Returning up to the fire trail was a challenge and I took advantage of the commemorative stone bench at the top of the steep section to take a break and have some refreshments.
All in all, this was a great experience. Thanks night_watchman, it gets a favourite from me.

Found it. Took a little while, especially with a big group of muggles walking past. Found with geopanther77. TFTC.
The walk was very pleasant until the stairs. We took one look down, then rested and drank some water, and made the journey down. Despite the GPSr being 10m out, the cache was an easy find. We replaced, took some photos and then it was back up. Oh, the stairs!! At the top we had a nice rest before heading back to the car.
Enjoyed the scenery and the nice sense of being in the middle of nowhere.
Thanks night watchman.

Nice day for a walk - went from Bobbin Head cafe to St Ives, taking in as many caches and trigs as I could. This was the main cache I had intended to get for the walk, and it very nearly eluded me. The GPS was all over the place... and I followed it all over the place. I spent an inordinately long time here, and gave up. As I was walking away there it was in plain sight - well if you were looking in exactly the right direction. I could not believe it was so easy, after I had spent so long looking high and low. Anyway, I was very pleased not to go away with a DNF. I provided a little extra camoflage so it is not quite so conspicuous, using an item lying nearby that looked suspiciously as though it had originally served that purpose. Cache seemed nicely stocked - TNLN. SL. TFTC.
This was a nice walk down to this morning. After finding the cache, we were going to continue along the loop track but decided to come back another time when it's not quite so busy. There must have been a dozen groups pass by whilst we were searching for the cache, and the last group of ramblers was about 30 strong. We couldn't believe how busy it was!
Anyway, the cache was in a lovely spot away from the stream of walkers doing the loop track. Thanks for taking us here!
Cheers,

Great walk down the sphinx walking track. Around the cache was a pleasant place to hang out. GPS was a good 5m out so did a bit of looking up and down the creek. Cheers
I've run past here twice during races, and about a year ago I tried to get here from St Ives, but must have ended up on the wrong trail and never got close.
But today went for a jog with a friend, and stopped off before the ascent. Luckily the gps led me straight to it, and I caught up before the top.

A beautiful Autumn day, if a bit warm. As you would expect the walk down from the Sphinx Memorial was quite easy, almost stepped on a small brown snake but he moved quick smart and all was well.
I did have my doubts about the GPS reception as the track keeps going down and down and then down some more. By the time I got to the creek reception was OK! In any case the most obvious spot for a cache is the place to look.
Now for the tough walk back up, but what a great place to visit with amazing scenery.
Thanks for the cache, loved it.

I loved the walk down here from St Ives. Very peaceful (except for the buzzing of the high tension electricity wires).
At GZ I wandered around a bit but luckily found the cache. Nice hide and not far from the track.

Highlight! On the return walk saw two wallabies and then a lyrebird(!!!) crossing the track.
