That is one fair drop! Found the turn off to the reclaimed track second time around!
I especially love wildlife so doing this cache was essential. Awesome walk and cache. Thank you
Fascinating spot. That is one long drop off the edge. I couldn't see the bottom. Track and lookout appear very unused but intersting to see. Cache container cracked and a bit damp but ok. Thanks for highliting this unknown place genii
Found this one today on a walk to disappearing tarn, found quickly after a bit of bushbashing to get to GZ, I think this used to be a more well known lookout that has been taken back over by nature, I have a photo attached from a book. Cool cache, Thanks
On a walk out to Wellington Falls. Picked up this cache on the way. Great spot! There would be a good view on any other day of Summer, but can't see a thing.

The plan of the day was to visit the [hopefully with water in it] Disappearing Tarn and to grab 4 hides along the lengthy and exciting walk [^]
The barely noticeable Geo-Trail into this one was my guide to GZ, once there the cache was an easy find. The medium sized Cache was loaded with swag and a dry log book
SL to stunning views away from the track some 15 meters so no Muggles would see me with the cache.
Added some Wildlife related items... some Blue-Wren craft pegs and a Llama Geo-Square
SL of this Golden-Oldie Cache at 10:55 on Saturday 6 November 2021.
All is in good condition with and inside the Cache

I always love reading the old logs on a cache.
It's a nice feeling finding an original logbook in an original cache container. (this one needs some duct tape)
We found this on the way to the disappearing tarn..
Thank you genii for hiding a cache here over fifteen years ago!!

Mr W decided another walk on the mountain was in order today and he had three caches on his radar and this was the first one he found. The Milles track was wet and muddy with all the foot traffic recently to the Disappearing Tarn. A great view from GZ, so thanks for sharing this secret spot. TFTC
TFTC genii, and for the views.
On a walk to Disappearing Tarn with AlbyDangles, AmazingDaughter and KingSmev, just one party of an absolute myriad of walkers.
KingSmev and I made a quick detour to grab this one, contents and logboog a bit damp, but just able to sign.
We had to stop and give way (nearly needed traffic lights) to get back out onto the main track.

Had a replacement container with us but the existing one seems ok for now. Contents a little damp but nothing too serious.

Well, I found the lid and several bags of cache contents strewn around at the BOTTOM of the cliff. I replaced it all (see photos) but cache is very damp and need a new container and log
There's a great view from here. Log book rather wet and soggy but we still managed to sign the log. Thanks for bringing us here. TFTC
Nice little place with great views.

A nice walk and great views along the way. Found the cache out in the open with contents everywhere. Unfortunately the lid is missing. Had a quick peer over the edge and noticed something down there but hard to tell if it was the lid. Couldn't find a way down so left it. Tidied up what was at GZ though and replaced under the rock but it needs some TLC urgently. TFTC!

As we were signing the log we heard some people walk past on the track above saying -"I wonder where that track goes?". Great view - stayed well away from the edge TFTC
The 2nd find on our hike to Cathedral rock from the springs. Didn't take long to find but I would never have found it if it wasn't for geocaching so thank you!
Took a little pig and left the lady bug erasers. That poor frog has been sitting there for 12 years. I hope someone gives him a home soon!

While myself and gooseandegg were heading up the Milles track to do some GCA caching we walked a little bit more since neither of us had found this one, with it being warm day we were both glad to be up on the mountain where it was bit little bit cooler, it was a pleasure to have a nice easy walk for a change.
the cache was out in the open and it was spotted by goose from meters away, after adding our names to the log we rehid the cache a bit better since we spotted a number of muggle logs in the logbook.
Thanks for showing me this place I would have never come here otherwise and will have to return when the view is clear.

Found on a hot afternoon (but lovely and cool on the mountain). The mist has rolled in so our view is just a white curtain. I had not been this far along Milles Track before so this was a new area for me. It's a great track with a very gentle climb.
Even though the last OFFICIAL log was over twelve months ago the cache has been found by a few other parties since but replaced carefully. We hid it a little better so it was not as obvious as todays find.
Enjoyed the walk with stainless-steel-rat. TFTC

No trouble finding the little track down to the lookout. Nice spot. A very quick find.
Thanks for the cache.

While Mr Y'stassie did battle with the Axis of Evil Mrs Y'stassie took on the wild life.
After an enjoyable walk along Milles track she found a track heading in the direction of GZ so headed down. Unfortunately after about 12m the track disappeared and a tangle of cutting grass and small whippy bushes blocked her way. After bush bashing around and suffering several cutting grass cuts she decided to return to the Milles track and look for another way down. After a bit of tooing and froing she spied another little track and cautiously made her way down. To her delight she found the lookout but no view due to the low cloud. The cache container was in the open, perhaps turfed out of its hide by a disgruntled wild animal. Contents were in excellent order for a cache that had not been found for almost 3 years and coordinates were good.
Log signed, container was tucked back into its hide and secured by a few rocks. Then it was back down the track enjoying the scent of the many flowering bushes and the songs of some little birds. No wild animals today.
The little track down to GZ is rather overgrown at the start and end. Turn off Milles track at S42 55.492 E 147 14.203. This is a great cache so we hope more cachers will pay it a visit. It is not a difficult walk.
Thanks for a great caching experience genii. We really enjoy these older caches.

What a lovely spot if it wasn't for your cache I wouldn't have known it was here.
What a great little spot, really enjoyed finding this cache/spot. I would have walked straight by and never knew it existed. Favorite point from me TFTC genii.
We have been to this location on several occasions, often to enjoy the flora on the way and listen to the birds while enjoying a cup of tea. On one visit large Tiger snake was basking just near the spot where the cache container is located. Fortunately it wasn't there today. TFTC genii
This was our 250'th cache.

Hi Genii
Found this cache after a walk from the new cache Milles Jewel. Walk was fairly easy until the last 25 metres which was very overgrown. It's going to get to a bush bash through there in a couple of years!
The cache has been found by a few muggles, but lucky this far out none have evil intent. One log wrote found this while looking for wild orchids.
Actually the cache was fairly open with not many rocks covering it. I covered it up with an additional two rocks, so at least you cant see it from 10 metres away.
A great cache and good view on a stunning day.
Thanks for the cache Genii

Found on a quite overcast day. When we go to The Springs the visibility was down to about 10 m. We followed the well-defined track and got a little wet from the overhanging vegetation (it was a bit too warm to put the wet weather gear on). The cache was quickly located but no views were in evidence. A nice spot and we will return on a sunny day. TNLN. Thanks gennii.
I'd decided to go for a little walk today so I started at Neika and headed along the Pipeline Track. Thought I'd head up the Snake Plains track for a bit and see what it's like and if the snow was too thick then I'd simply turn around and go back. After the old 4wd track peters out the snow was quite thick but I decided to press on further. Soon I was sloshing through ankle deep ice covered pools and pushing through snow laden scrub and fresh snow was falling. I stopped for a short break and a check of the map and GPS and saw that I was nearly at Milles track. The top part of the Snake Plains track is quite indistinct when covered in lots of snow. I really didn't want to go back down through all that again so I headed toward the Springs.
When I approached the cache it appeared to be well off the track which necessitated more scrub bashing through heavily snow laden bushes. In more favourable conditions I wouldn't have hesitated but I must admit I did pause for a moment but then decided to go for it. Hood up and head down and only a few metres before I had the cache in hand. I had trouble writing in the log because my fingers were frozen.
I continued on to the Springs where I found a traffic jam and even a man directing the cars to parking spots. The road was closed beyond the Springs. I was delighted to find the fire in the stone hut was burning so I spent some time warming up and drying while waiting for my transport to arrive.
Great cache, thanks genii.

Hi
Walked in from the Springs, heard the beep on the GPS but still walked passed the track to the lookout. A quick, short backtrack and voila; down to the lookout.
A quick search and the cache was in hand at 1415hrs. Uh! Oh!! VOICES; one male and one female.
Leave or retrieve the cache?
They pass the track to the lookout - time to retrieve. Cache in hand; they've turned and are on top of me.
"Guess you geocache too; as that green box isn't yours I assume" says he.
"No" says I, but then formal intro's and I have met Direction Finding Ducks (Laura and Sam).
Two "strangers" in one day - LandLockedSailor - lost his mobile in the back of "Rustractor"
and now the "Ducks." What a great day.
The "Ducks" after busting me wide open stayed and chatted for a while and then they continued on to "Wellington Falls" while I transversed the mountain hoping to find "Ice House - Upper."
What did I see:
Swarms of mozzies
Loads of ants
Big Bumble Bees
But no other fauna
Did I see!!!!
With cache in hand
As OldSaint planned
The "Ducks" arrived
As contrived
Busted him in mid find
And only had the log to sign.
TFTC and cheers OldSaint

A strange set of circumstances saw me trotting along this pretty track late on a pleasant afternoon.
The lookout and cache were easily found, though it appeared efforts had been made to conceal the start of the rough path off the main track.
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to stay, but thanks for the walk.

I felt like wandering the mountain today, so I set off in search of this one (and about time too!). I started off wearing my jumper, which I had to remove as the day was sunny and warm with no wind. I was obviously the first one on the trail today, as my face did a good job of clearing up all the spider webs across the track. Then I had to put on my waterproof jacket because the wind had started up, and with it - HAIL! Which turned to sleet and then rain. I saw the storm coming around the mountain and heard the roar of rain (hail) on leaves, so I was expecting it to last for a while.
Fortunately I found the cache easily, but there was no view, as the clouds had come in. So I quickly logged it just with my name, as it was pouring down with rain. As soon as I had started back off to The Springs, the rain stopped, the sun came back out, and I had glorious views over Hobart and Kingborough. I found some gorgeous looking fungi on the way - looked like coral. I also startled some little wallabies, and found an adorable bird nest, but I think most of the animals were hunkered down.
All in all, a very enjoyable morning on our mountain. Took nothing, left a zoo pencil covered with a different kind of wildlife than what we'd usually find in Tasmania! Thanks so much for a great cache! It's in great condition too!

I guess this is one of those spots that most folk would wander right past... Mind you, the trail down to the lookout was fairly easy to spot (I was grateful for that!), even in the twilight . Great evening views. TFTC!
Aaaaah, that was great! The views of the city lights (logged around 9:20pm!) were wonderful, and it had all those wonderful mountain smells! Loved it! TFTC!

Wow!! Redtag needed an upsy walk and Cheesy pigs needed a cache and this one filled the bill nicely.
This was an amazing walk up from Neika to the cache. Very wet and boggy though after the recent rains. Found the cache very easily then sat and had lunch and a cuppa tea. A beautiful day, absolutely amazed that this was peoples day at the Hobart Show with the amount of sunshine and lack of rain, hail, gale force winds, sleet, snow and flying cows. TNLN Thanks guys.

Walking from The Springs - Wellington Falls - Neika. This was our first stop but we walked past the turnoff without noticing. Went back and found the cache, signed the log, took an echidna and left a decorated butterfly peg. TFTC.
Was looking for abandoned mountain hut sites with Xorg and Pixelwarrior when they passed a GPS to GeoKid #1 and said to go looking for this cache. A much enjoyed unexpected side trip. Took the tassie devil and left a snake and a squirrel.
With the temperature reaching 36 degrees today rebulus, gspblu and I appreciated the cooler conditions at 800 meters above sea level.
The walk in was easy and the find was even easier. It featured the typical spectacular views that most of the mountain caches provide.
Thanks for the cache genii.
Took Fred and Mary TB

Geo-zumped!!!
We wanted to put a cache at an interesting little sandstone cave we remembered finding years ago, only to find that it is EXACTLY below this cache and so has pretty well identical co-ordinates.
It was called "smoko cave" as it was used as an unofficial shelter by local workers on the mountain.
As you are leaving the lookout, go down the little track to your left to find the cave.
Cheers genii!!

Another great walk and great spot. Very nice. Noticed it's been a while since the cache was visited.
Took Suncatcher geocoin (it was such a fine sunny day) and left a matching dinosaur.
Thanks for the great cache.
Discovered some wildlife on the way and have posted the photogs. In case there's any doubt about the second photo, it's more animal than plant and you can see where it's been "grazing"!

Lovely walk and great views. Much easier to get to than Cathedral Rock which I did yesterday. It started to snow after signing the log. TN L bug and coin. Thanks Genii.
One of those great spots we would have passed by without realising it was even there had there not been a geocache to take us there. Of course I'm certain this has a fantastic view, but we were a bit more creative and visited when there was just a view of the inside of a cloud. Maybe drought conditions working on our subconscious?
Still a fantastic spot; thank you for leading us here!

Lovely leafy track. Lots of birdlife but no wildlife - did have my stomping boots on tho'.
Overshot the turn off first off but trusty GPS pulled me up.
Once there nose down & soon sniffed this one out. Took whale left penguin.SL
Great view of the QE2.

Wanted to go for a very cruisy run so this cache fit the bill perfectly. I have been to this lookout before many, many years ago but forgot where it was until now. Located the cache easily, I thought it would be tricky with the overhead foliage but it all opened up nicely at GZ. TNLNSL. Thanks genii - great mountain cache.
Found it on lovely walk and lovely day with friends and friends children. They took snow dome and rubbers, I left butterfly fridge magnet and echidna. Very nice picnic lunch at the lookout where we wouldn't have otherwise stopped. Thanks genii.
An enjoyable walk on a magnificent day. Hadn't been along here before, thanks genii.
T magnetic badge, left squishy skink, dropped Wolli sheep TB in to meet the cache animals and then took him out for some more travels. SL.

I managed to beat the rain today. A very pleasant walk on a mostly flat track, I haven't been along here before and the views are impressive. I kept my eye out for wildlife but only saw a lot of birds and evidence of the nocturnal natives! Took jumping putty and left foam animal stickers. Thanks genii, I really enjoyed this one.
Well, we may be first to log, but we weren't up early enough to beat Swampy for the FTF (Hmm, probably hardly surprising as we didn't arrive at gz until 6.20pm!!!) This is a great spot that we didn't know about before, so many thanks for bringing us here Genii. GPS wanted to take us over the edge, but we resisted and found cache quickly on reading clue. Took tiger key lanyard and left big blue squishy frog.
Took a walk along the track and found GZ without too much of a problem - finding the cache was a little more difficult as my GPSr was now not co-operating and wanted to send me over the edge! Had a look around down the bottom, interesng area but not quite right. Kicked myself as I had no hint with me to look up.
Found after re-aquiring sat lock. TN L extinct animal that may have roamed around the lower reaches of the mountain. Started to rain as I was logging the find.
Thanks genii, great first cache and FTF to boot.
Pity about the irresponsible muggles with their dog walking into the area.
