Disabled for a couple of days for maintenace. The cache box has been muggled! Long-John
Hearing rumours and strange tales of a great treasure hidden far from home, my spirit was aroused. A plan formed in my heart to quest after this fabled grail. O! it seemed to me that on that day the greatness of the world was before me. And lo! it came to be that the sun appeared dark to my eyes until I had acheived this knightly deed. I mounted my great charger, and never did a velocipede bear a man so fast as did my magnificent beast that day. I rode up, and farewelled my steed. Now alone, I charged through a forest; a great plain of green grass did I traverse, and at last, after many travails, there the great tree stood before me! I searched at its base, and lo! there was the lost and definitely distressed geocache. I took no thing from this cache; I desired not riches, nor did it enter my heart to plunder that I might gain from this fabulous treasure. It is enough that I have acheived the quest; I have acquitted myself honourably.
A reply to our last visitor:
"Oh noble one who charge-ed forth
Upon your trusty steed
So pleased to know you found the cache
And not where possum peed.
For we of local rest have found
The furred ones there galore
And nightly do we stalk our claim
Across the forest floor..
So thanks to you and all your kind
Who enter four-foot lair
We wish you well with lots of finds
And many travels fair."

Very nice area for the cache. Found with a short search. Cannot believe that I am the first visitor to this cache in nearly 5 months SL TFTC
#17 Quick find. Never would have realised the reserve was there if it wasn't for this. TFTC.
All the time I spent two doors down from this reserve many years ago mucking about with cars and motorbikes and never realised it was there.TFTC TNLN. Easy find.
Wonder if anyone ever uses this reserve-it is so well tucked away. Nice to meet the cache owner on site! Bit of a bonus for us. TFTC TNLN
Second to visit this cache today - a quick find on a freezing cold afternoon.
TFTC.

Bit of a damp knight tonight but found with use of the hint. - glow in the dark bear + Mondo
A Nice wee spot, I walked past the entrance to this reserve without knowing, it is so quiet and relaxing. No sign of Frog Princess TB I'm afraid. I am sure she wouldn't wander off on her own because it is such a nice place. TNLN TFTC
Nice walk in the evening. Does not look like a reserve and is a hidden treasure. TFTC
Felt like I had found the Garden of Eden - brilliant day and just so private and quiet - who would have known anyone was there.A great cache with good hints and excellent coords.
Found it just in time another 5 minutes and it would have been too dark. Nice place
Went for an early morning walk and found it What a secluded little reserve and very sheltered . Congratulations on a beautifully presented cache l;oved the name and the picture. Thank you
I've driven past this cache site every day for years and never knew the reserve existed. A nice quiet spot. TFTC TNLN
Dropped the Frog Princess in here, close to the stream and some Knights in shining armour.
What a sweet little place! I did not know this was here, and it seems the kind of place that you wouldn't know about unless someone showed you.
Found a sweet wee dragon coin with a busted plastic holder. Will do some repair on it so the note and the coin stay together. Dropped in an angel. Thought she was a fair trade for a dragon! LOL
Have never done bearings before. Looked like a simple cache to learn it on, and it was. Thanks!

Found the GZ without too much trouble (going by the hint) but was having trouble find the cache having the usual caching conversation (its got to be here some where, etc) when a bloke turned up and asked us what we were doing, said he had heard us talking and come to have a look, did not seemed too impressed with our standard “muggle†replies, oh oh! but as it turned out he was one of the “long-john†team soon joined by the other member. Had a very enjoyable conversation including conformation the cache was where we were not making a very good job of looking?
It’s always great to come across another cacher, an added bonus to a fun cache.
Thanks
+ Roots Travel Bug.

Took a while to find, but co-ordinates great. A nice park. Dropped off Geocoin. TFTC
Attemped this one sometime back but had no luck, We have a few more to our name now and got it this time. Nice sunny day.

Found the sign and did the bearing, which seemed to send us off in the wrong direction. So we used our geocachers commonsense insead and found the right spot - at which point our GPS also decided that it was the right spot - so I guess we had done the bearing correctly after all. Maybe hadn't given the GPS enough time to settle. No TBs in sight here either. TFTC

Still have to do some learning about the features of the GPS and how to use them. However after a bit of a "debate" we settled on the right area and made a find! TFTC. Took TB. Mrs MW wouldn't disuaded from doing so.
Neat wee spot.
+ pair of pliers and a star
- shiny stone and a squid
Sign co-ord's and bearing were AAA. Just paced out the distance but that was good enough for a find (with the clue).

Cache 2 for us. A quick trip from home to check this one out. We dropped off the Generic Geocoin 2007 and removed Ms Potato Head who is currently watching us log this find.

Second find for me and my niece. Was where I thought it'd be on entrance to the reserve, but last place I looked as the GPS was showing that spot at around 30m from the sign.
Nicely hidden, would had thought the area was private land if I hadn't have had the information.

GPS mag bearing put us wrong yesterday. Good old compass sorted it out today! Nice one! Whio and Chelsea.
My daughter and I had some fun doing this one, we searched and searched around and and I was certain I had the right spot I was about to give up then I spotted it I had been standing all over and around it , nice one and a nice wee spot aswell, cheers
[Was not sure which sign I should have been working of so tried both.] Found post and tree one meter apart at right distance both times [but no matter how many trees I hunted behind had no luck. Decided to head on to next one, turned and said to my son (who doesn't like treasure hunting unless it suits him) that we had fun hunting and that was what mattered. Almost fell over in surprise when he said 'yes and I had lots of fun Mum']
Looks like a fence has been removed from middle of reserve not sure how recently.

Just been out to check that the cache is still in place. Can confirm that it is. Cheers Long-John
Actually easier than expected. Spot the cache is in SHOULD result in regular muggling but it appears to be one of those ones that gets away with it. Mind you the reserve is probably under-utilised (or mainly used by geocachers, lol).

Took a while to find the way in (then it was obvious!!)
Spent ages hunting, even widening the search in case the projection was wrong. No sign of the cache, but lots of recent grass clipping piles.
Ended up, oh so wet, and a plane to catch....

Hardest part of this was to locate the reserve. I was staring straight at it and couldn't pick it. It just looks like a few trees on a street corner until you take a few more steps forward. Easy find of the cache after that though.

Awesome find this one. Talked to long-john, first fellow geocacher we have stumbled across. Took travel bug and pony brush left pink colour pencil and sellotape.
Hmm - I'm not surprised I didn't find it last time - the hint probably should have [yrff guna] in it, and I also didn't [qvt] - as is almost necessary. A nice excuse for a stop though. -TB I think. TFTC.
Now that we have figured out how to change our bearings and distances in the GPS we were more than happy to tackle this one. Nice find in a very hidden area. TNLN TFTC
Last find, and took a little searching to find the cache, as it was fairly well covered. Cheers Gav [1105]
A lovely evening so Long-John and I popped in with a rubbish bag and removed the fast food wrappers etc. from under the trees. Should be a nicer visit for the next person.
834 As in all too many cache sites muggles are dumping their rubbish. The cache was well hidden so I had to rummage around among Burger King residues. TNLN DS8300
It took a bit of poking around to find this one but we got there.

It was getting dark, but I was being guided by a previous finder, and we had no luck. Might be time for an owner-visit (or temporary archive)...
After two dnfs we checked this. The cache is still in place and the clue is correct. It is not immediately visible (muggle cover) so you might have to poke around a bit.
No luck for me on this one. All the clues matched up nicely but the cache eluded me.
Cheers, M@

Drove up in the car to see a group of 4 looking at the drain over the road so waited a few moments before going up to them. Told them about the hint so had a look around one on edge of park before moving to the correct one, Good to meet you KiwiOdyssey, While here talking 2 other men walked passed and stopped , Good to meet you again Long John.

Took us 2 goes, nice twist with the heading and distance which made it a little dificult on our first attempt. (the day after we got our first GPS) bumped into another cacher and long-john paid us a visit when he over heard the boys make the find (The Boys were a little exurberant).
Thanks Long-John

Liked the hunt, thanks! and if it wasnt for the owner coming out we may not have found it, but we had a good talk

Found at second go. I didn't read the clues properly. What a lovely reserve. Been by thousands of times and never knew it existed. By the way there are 2 travel bugs.Thankyou for an enjoyable find.
Had a bit more luck this time as it's not autumn with gold coloured leaves everywhere. Left the Furry Fish TB, took Barney the Dinosaur look-alike. Thanks.
My first find. Ducked away from work with new GPS in hand and little else as I could not wait to give it a try.
A little searching before time forced me to look at clue which lead me to it. Nice little reserve. Thanks. TNLNSL.

3:20pm. #10 of day one of Chch week. Took a while before junior Nof came up with the goods.
Roadworks made access a little bit of a challenge. Cache easy to find. thanks Took loyalty cards left a happy sack.
This one kept us busy for a while.

Here with 2x 10 year olds - one new to caching
Both were high on sugar after visiting the dairy between "sams birthday cache" and here. Keeping 2 hyped boys safe at that intersection was challenging especially when I was waylaid by a passing friend wondering what on earth we were doing. Anyway the hunt was a good one for the kids - they werent too far off the mark and the loot was uncovered. Nothing to tempt a 10 year old within but they had fun and were keen for No3 so off we went.

Fun wee cache, made better by meeting the cache owner Long-John, you would have no ideal that this was a reserve.

Gave furry fish a good home for a few hours, and then sent him out into the wild again.
Nice cache, certainly wouldnt've thought there was a reserve here. Nice camo disguise too. Cheers.
