Checked this cache in the weekend and a new fence has been built, the old one ripped out and the cache has disappeared so we will archive this one temporarily until we can get back up there to replace it.

A new fence is being built and the old torn down so hopefully the cache survives okay. Great drive up but one of the fords had been washed out and was only just traffic-able for the car.

There was a bit of traffic around here today. Even noticed two buses going in on our way out. Easy find once there.TFTC TNLN

WOW I can't believe we're the only people to come find this cache in almost 2 years . Came up here testing out the suspension on a car I'd purchased that morning -all went well. Used to spend a bit of time up here as a mate used to work at the near by Ben McLeod station .
TFTC really enjoyed the views on a nice hot day

I decided to look some where no else was to spread the chance of a successfull find but didn't need to look long as there was soon a call of 'Found'. Rather windy so we didn't stick around for long before the convoy headed of towards Helms Deep. Thanks for the cache

Found on the way to Helm's Deep. A very out of the way spot, and a long river valley. Howling gale made it all the more fun. TFTC, TNLN, SL

We spent the weekend at Mesopotamia, in lovely weather while Christchurch and most of the country was drowning under all the rain, taking photos at dawn and 4wd-ing up the Rangitata to the Black Mountain Hut (where we discovered another cache, Helms Deep, that hadn't been visited for 4 years!). Pleased to find the Forest Creek cache dry. Took the Ottawa Geocoin but left the pin for someone else to find.

Lovely Sunday drive in the Upper Rangitata whilst camping at Peel Forest. Hot sunny day, dusty road, but made up for by the beautiful scenery. Wish we'd carried on to Mesopotamia given we were so close, but didn't realise it at the time.

Will post photo later.

Just checking ...it's still there, and dry.
We have twice 4WD'd up Forest Creek to the Stone Hut (you must get permission from Ben McCloud Station first, plus the key - and at least two vehicles are advisable) but this third time the snow drifts almost marooned us for the weekend.

Long Drive in but it had to be done. no water in the creek today.

1051. When we saw we had a chance of being FTF we decided to keep on driving and pick up this cache! What a pleasant drive in - we really enjoyed it. There were such wonderful views of hills, mountains and valleys. It was well worth the trip in - the road is great the whole way to the cache. One day we'll return this way to travel up to Helms Deep!
Thanks
Iris & Rodney
