----------### **OWNER MAINTENANCE REQUESTED PLEASE** ###----------Hi there djcache,It looks like this cache might need some attention, as one or more seekers have indicated there is some sort of issue. The recent logs may contain more details about what sort of issues are evident. The cache has been [**temporarily disabled**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=235), so as to remove it from search listings and discourage people from visiting this location, until the issues/s can be addressed.**You do need to respond in some way within 14 days,** so others know you are on top of it, as well as indicating exactly what is happening with this placement - please don't let a lack of communication scuttle this listing.#What you need to do:-#You have a number of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:-- **Check On The Cache** - once checked, place an Owner Maintenance log and then enable the cache.- **Place A Write Note Log** - indicating a date when you expect it will be restored. - **Adopt Out or Archive** - depending on whether you want it kept or for it to disappear.A full explanation for each of the above choices can be found at [**GEOCACHE MAINTENANCE**]( https://wiki.groundspeak.com/display/GEO/Victoria) on the Regional Policies page. You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of the above. Well, if the issue has not been addressed, or there is no acknowledgment as requested above, it will be assumed the cache has been abandoned and **the cache will be de-listed (Archived) at the end of the 14 day period, without further recourse to the CO.** TwistedIt would be far better if you decide, so please do something before then. The million is now 3 million such is the price of gold post 2006! Always on a multi mission but had never managed to stop by so with a ride in mind here I am finally. It's quite an extraordinary wander through history. Finally located the cache not quite where I expected. TFTC and the lure! A FAVE for longevity. As noted, container needs replacing...

I enjoyed walking the trail and collecting the clues once I had found the starting point which turned out to be the other side of the creek to that shown on the map The amount of dirt removed in the sluicing is amazing TFTC djcache

Found It!
The start coordinates for this are about 50m out but I soon found the right sign and collected the required numbers. Then a nice walk to GZ and a quick find once I got there. Lots of history in this place!

We had driven past the signpost to this place many times but because we were always on a mission and never had time to stop and investigate. But, with a bit more time up our sleeves, we finally popped in.
What a great experience. A beautiful area and full of history.
The cache container is a little bit worse for wear but it felt like we were searching for our own gold.
Thanks djcache for showing us this place. A favourite point from us.
Chiefton!!!

Found with [@coybear2000](http://coord.info/PR9547H) on our drive to Omeo. It had been suggested to us to stop here for the history, and it was nice to do the multi as well. The initial info wasn't at the listing, but with a bit of exploring we found what was needed. We headed to the new co-ords and soon found the hide. The container is damaged, but all was well. TFTC

01-Sep-22
Stopping at Omeo with Trodectus we decided to have a go at this multi. Info needed was not where initial co-ords had us but was easy enough to find. Once info obtained we headed off and once at GZ easily located cache. Container is damaged but all is okay. Log signed and replaced. TFTC.

Easy.
Thank you.

YAY Big Grin I had the chance to search for and find this multi today while out driving through our High Country. Finding the required information and working out the new co-ords was the easy bit. Finding the cache container was just slightly tricker but was achieved in the end. Thanks djcache for setting up this cache. I really enjoyed learning about the history of this area. It was warm today, I'd like to come back when it's a bit cooler and take my time to have a good look around.

PS: The Troll Dolls [TN6 TR0] were with me on my great caching adventures today.

A hunt 10 years in the making. Was here on a motorcycle ride back in 2010 or so and looked up GZ. Nup, not going there wearing my leathers on this hot day. Forward to another decade and its another hot day but I'm getting this sucker today. Had some doubts at my GZ but looked in likely area and came up with the prize. Will come back and walk these trails one day when its much cooler. Thanks djcache for placing this multi here.

Today was our first visit to Omeo, a place I have heard about for many years because my father’s family came from this region. We enjoyed the walk around this site, remarking several times to one another how terribly destructive hydraulic sluicing is on the landscape. A good multi, thanks for the hide.

Find number 8875 at 12:16:04 pm
Had a wander around town this morning, decoding a couple of multis and checking out the lay of the land.
Quickly decoded and off for a walk. A warmish midday sun, felt like a swim on the return part of the walk.
Container slightly damaged but still servicable, will need to be changed in the near future.
**Thanks for placing this cache djcache**

Being based in Dinner Plain for a few days, gave us the opportunity to begin exploring Victoria's high country. Luckily we read some previous logs while waiting for the rain to stop, enabling us to collect the numbers and follow the interesting trail to the GZ, where we added our name to a dry log, in a container needing some TLC.

16 Years on the Geo-Gameboard a real "Golden Oldie" so to speak!

**FEEDBACK TO CO:**
1. As noted by a number of finders, the information source is something like 45m SW of the coordinates. We'd suggest they need to be something like S37° 06.457 E147° 34.565.
2. Whilst the contents are still dry, the container is disintegrating and will need replacement before winter.

Thanks djcache for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

We parked the car and headed out for a walk, but after about 300 mtrs realised the sign board and info is at the beginning of the loop!! Such rookies sometimes. We did the quick calculations then headed out again, but sometimes we make it so hard for ourselves. We tried to go in a straight line, instead of sticking to the path. Dangerous!

We got perpendicular to GZ and that's where I sent in the Cache Whisperer, as by this time I was a bit hot. Talk about soft. I'd have never survived if I was one of the poor Chinese workers.

He found the cleverly concealed cache. As other finders have noted, the lid is in pretty bad shape, needs replacement.

03-Nov-20
We chose to visit this area today as part of an extended weekend of camping. Our time was limited so we chose a few caches here and there amongst some sightseeing and relaxation.
Our original plan was to do this multi 4 days ago while we were camping by Livingstone Creek. Unfortunately the rain changed our plans. Today, on our return trip the weather was perfect for a walk. We loved the walk and interesting history which I hadn’t previously not associated with Omeo.
We searched beyond where we calculated gz to be, and were very relieved to find the cache.

Thank you for your cache.

04-Oct-20
I’m always a bit nervous solving multis because my maths skills aren’t that great but after a quick look at the signage I worked out the coordinates easily and took off on both of the loop walks available in the area with the doggos in tow. And what a lovely area at that! After honing in on GZ I was focused on one particular area and convinced the cache must be there. After not finding it I widened my search a little and sure enough, there the cache was. Thanks for placing a cache in this lovely area Smile

16-Mar-20
Easily found the container, although it is one in name only. Totally decrepit with no lid.
I have already replaced someone else's neglected cache this week so haven't got a replacement container, but it needs to be done as soon as possible.

17-Nov-19
Today we travelled from Bairnsdale into the Alps. En route, there were a few nice stops for Geocaching and in case of Omeo for much more Smile
This topic sounds very interesting, as we wanted to learn more about the Gold Rush in this area. At GZ all information were clearly available and ready to calculate the final coordinates. We did the whole loop (highly recommended!) and in between we found the box. Thanks for the nice hide! We leave a FP here Smile

07-Nov-19
The info wasn't anywhere to be found at the starting coordinates so I gave up on finding this cache.

Instead it's on the (obvious) signboard about 50m away. I only found the info though after doing the full loop, so I didn't want to redo it. Another time if I come this way again, maybe.

29-Aug-19
I was up in the Omeo area with some friends hunting and stopped by here to find this cache on a beautiful day. Gathered the required info from the faded sign and headed off to GZ. With the GPS not reading the best, I had to look in a few likely spots before finding the cache. After signing the log I put it back up side down to help stop water getting in as the lid is broken. 02-Feb-19
We were surprised at how interesting the walk is, with some stories to read along the way too, full of some dry humour. Thank you for placing this cache here, and bringing us here to take a look.

The contents of the cache were fine and dry. The lid was cracked, however it seems to be surviving; and sorry we didn’t have a replacement with us today.

Threw a multi into the mix for our morning’s adventures. We had tried to find the way to this historic area previously, without success. Today we made it, gathered the numbers, did the sums and off we went on a walk to discover the area and the cache. SL at 10.44am Did not have a replacement container or lid, so put all the swag in one large zip lock bag and the log book in a smaller zip lock. Took: bee #5114 TFTC djcache and glad to finally explore this place and read the history.

Solving the coordinates was easy. Finding the cache not so much. Would have stayed for a longer search but geokids where waiting at the picnic area and it was warming up.
Maybe next time if we ever come back this way

14-Jan-18
The container top is badly cracked with a hole, and needs replacing (and log book could do with zippy bag).

Thank you for putting this cache here It was fantastic to learn all about the miners here
Also this was my very first Multicache that I have by myself

We have been slowly making our way from Queensland down to Victoria to attend the Alexandra Mega Event and finding a few caches along the way. We decided to stay for a few days in Dinner Plains and today we took a day trip to Omeo to explore the area a little Smile We had a great time learning about the history of the town and could only imagine the hardships that the early pioneers had to endure Surprised

We had no difficulty in locating the cache and with our name added to the logbook, we continued on our way Wink

Thank you djcache for having placed the cache and maintaining it for everyone to enjoy Cool

Up this way to do some fishing for the next month. Taking in the Goulburn, Kiewa, Mitta and Omeo Valleys. Focus is mainly on fishing, but any cache is likely to be nabbed along the way.

We are unable to log details when on the move so have used "Log Later" as a filler till we return.

Thanks for your patience and the cache. djcache

Worked out co-ordinates and trundled off for a stroll along a familiar track.

GPS and phone then directed us off said track, and the fun began. So many geologically similar hides to choose from.

After ducking into omeo to grab a few things and no rush to get back to the farm, i went out to grab this cache. I had been here last year, took the kids gold panning (had permission from the Ranger in omeo, only found one speck, unlike Beechworth, where every pan had a speck!).
What a wonderful walk and a great history lesson. Gold is what made this country, but boy, did they have to work hard for that gold. They dug 50 km of water races to catch the water that ran off from the sluiceing! This is what caching is all about, thanks djcache for this great cache. Cheers bwbandit

Day one of our Southern NSW Lounge About with BettyBoo3747.
Beechworth to Omeo, a nice relaxing drive over the top. Beautiful blue skies and fantastic views.
Getting towards the end of the day, but we only had to go as far as Omeo, so we stopped in for the multi.
Glad we did. Some very interesting history, and it is easy to see what happened as the partially blown away cliffs are still in place.
A nice walk in the late afternoon, and a great sized cache.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 10059. Our first day of hollidays and today Robmc and I drive from Beechworth to Omeo. The passenger may have enjoyed the scenery but I cannot fathom why anyone would drive over Mt Hotham for fun. Fortunately it was a quiet day on the road. I managed 14 smilies for the day so that helped ease the pain of the drive.

Almost in town so time for just a couple more. I am sure I have been in here on a previous visit to town. All was quiet while we looked at the information boards and made our way to GZ. Some of the clay cliffs reminded me of the ones at Lake Sambell in Beechworth. Rob managed to locate the cache exactly where my GPS was saying it should be. We didn't do the whole loop but did stop to read the plaques as we saw them. Some people sure did get rich.

Thanks djcache

Staying at our holiday house in Metung while having a week off work so I can go caching. Found this on a beautiful winters day with the sun shinning, I picked the right week to take off work. Decided to go for a drive to Omeo and pickup the caches along the way. Arrived at the listed co ords to find a car in the carpark with the occupant sitting in the drives seat, as I approached the info board he asked what I was up to I said geocaching and his response was good that is why I am here as well, so we both wondered chatting along the track to find the cache both signed the log and we replaced it and wondered back chatting all the way. Nice to meet you Scaccon. thanks djcache for the cache.

Together with Silli1310, we went on holiday for a year. We wanted to see the world together and have enough time to look at everything in peace and enjoy the time. In addition to all the scenic highlights and sights, geocaching should not be neglected, of course, and so we took the opportunity to look for a cache every now and then, whether it was just to stretch our legs on a long car ride or to have someone show us a nice spot.
After spending the last weeks in Tasmania and on the Ocean Road with friends from Germany, we were now on our own again. Our destination for today was near Mt Kosciuszko, which we wanted to climb tomorrow. So we drove quite lonely on the Great Alpine Road to Omea. In between, this old multicache lured us for a short walk. The values were quickly determined and the final coordinates The box could not hide from us for long, so we could sign the logbook. Many thanks for the cache.

On our [trip around the world](http://www.hoppundweg.piekar.de/) we came to Australia as well. We started in Tasmania, rented a campervan in Melbourne and went up the Eastcoast to Cairns. Then we drove all the way to the Red Centre. We finished in Darwin. We searched many caches and found almost every cache we searched for Wink. Thanks to all the owners of these caches. Now, 2 years later, we recognized, we will never be able to log every cache seperately... So: Sorry for this standard logtext and thanks for one of the caches, which accompanied us on our journey.

In Omeo for work. All alone and it's my birthday so to make me feel happier I went and picked up the last cache I have yet to find in the town.
Quick read of the sign to confirm the coords I had already worked out using logic! Short little stroll/clamber along the path to the cache. Great coords had me right on top of it for an easy find. With plenty of time to spatr before dinner I decided to keep going and complete the loop, reading the boards along the way.
Thanks for a great experience - this is what I love about caching. Nature, history and a nice walk!

Find # 3637
Streak: 221 days

After a lean couple of days cache finding wise, day1976 and I decided to cache our way back towards the Erica area where we would find a campsite for the night.

After heading to the first waypoint and realising it was quite a way from where we should be, we headed back to where we parked the car and gathered what we needed. A great multi with lots of interesting history about. Once at GZ, it took way longer than it should have to find this one. Co-ords are good.

There's more history than you can poke a pick at around here [:o]
So off I wandered across Ah's bridge, to find the info I needed.
Nothing here !!??
I looked around ....
So off I wandered, back across Ah's bridge, to find the info I needed Smile

GZ worked out, I wandered across Ah's bridge to follow the loop trail to reach GZ Razz
It took a while as I stopped at each information sign to see what was what.

At GZ the cache hiding spot was sighted after a loooonnnng look at GZ [:o]
Turned out it was behind me Red Face

Cache is safe and sound after all this time [^]

Find #777 logged at GZ at 10:03, will update shortly.... T4TC djcache!

It was unseasonably warm, so my week up at Hotham did not involve skiing. I decided to head out early and drive to Lakes Entrance to visit a friend, and collect some caches along the way of course.

I'd stopped in here a year ago, but there were works on and I couldn't get onto the circuit. Today I had the chance and I really enjoyed it. The hide was easily found, and I felt like a fossicker of old. What a fabulous story this place holds! Thanks for bringing me here!

This cache had not been found for a while but the last 2 DNFs did not look too discouraging. WP1 co-ords are way out (try looking near the car park). The bridge is damaged and uncrossable but it was easy to cross the creek on the stepping stones. Once the coordinates were calculated the regular sized cache was a straightforward find. Cache is in good condition. We enjoyed exploring this fascinating area. TFTC.

One we did manage to snare before we came all the way into town and again interesting to see the old workings and imagine what went on so long ago.
I passed by Omeo just a few days back with a couple of my sons and some mates on motorbikes and we came back today just to get the caches I'd passed by, also to give my wife an outing as she stayed home on the previous trip.
Two of our guys fell off just a few km's back up the hill from here but thankfully they are ok. The bikes are still rideable but a bit scratched. I think I'm over bikes. Much prefer the car these days.
Anyway the cache was good. Thanks again DJ.

Another place we have never noticed on our trips over to the coast.
We quickly worked out the numbers after a look around the area and off to GZ. Quite a nice walk.
We took a drive around to the lookout around the other side aswell. Beautiful.
TNLN - many thanks for the history shown here.
