Ah... the wee beast had a very good run, but time to retire to the great cache in the sky, and free up the terrain. Many thanks to all who took the time to seek Smile

Check this on the way to work, the cache isn't where it was when we found it last. So looks like it may have gone sorry to report.

19-Dec-07
We hunted around for ages, but could not find it anywhere. All the obvious places were checked, but to no avail!

neat artwork.

a bit sketchy searching for it, not sure what else I might find ferreting around in there...
wifey didn't dare dig around.

Found this cache with the assistance of KiwiGary! Had a pleasant surprise when completing the log. Found that the Artist who designed the Artworks in the area i.e. John Radford, had found the cache a few days earlier when inspecting his works. He was pleasantly surprised to see that the geocaching community were 'using' his artwork to hide their cache!
Cache was easily exposed so I had to move it a little further into the cache hide so that it could not be seen easily by the public otherwise it would be misconstrued as rubbish and taken away. (find no.3!)

Good Cache.

07:15 - Finally found this cache, walk past this spot everyday on my way to work. But usually the area is swarming with muggles. But this morning we were having Rugby morning breakfast, so an early start helped with the hunt.

Cache is doing well and is rather full of coins, so was quite heavy.

Thanks for the cache in an interesting spot.

Easy find walking thru the debris ... great sculptures.

Great park, nice and quiet early on a saturday morning. Loved the 'art', quite unexpected. Found the cache quickly and took a seat at the table close by to write a log entry. This is the first cache that provided a nice seating area for a relaxed entry!

Loved the architectural sculptures. Nice little cache. TNLNSL - TFTC.

What a cool park this one seems to be! Shame that we've been here in the night... But the Skytower looks even better sparkling between all the trees.
Very interesting GZ (although we are not so much into art), cache was found very easily (thankfully there were no muggles around - how can you do this one in broad daylight...?).

Actually ran into the artist who made these! They are a monument to all the old buildings that were ripped down in the 80's to make way for new, bland skyscrapers. They include an 'easter egg' - you can look into little viewing ports on (or under) the sculptures to see a diorama. The one by this cache works on natural light but the one 20m away actually requires electricity, the line was cut inadvertently by a lawnmower one day and the council has never restored it. Took 5c, left 10c - one day this cache might jackpot.

Found this on anzac day. Took nothing, left nothing. I dont think anyone will find this one by mistake.

It was Mrs SWW's birthday so we went to dinner in the big smoke! Knew there was a Geo close by so thought we would take a punt and try and find it.
Didn't take the GPS with us so was a bit of educated guessing. Neat structures!
Found quite easily in the dark at about 9.30 pm by groping in a possible possie.
TNLNSL TFTC.
Cheers!

Is this a forecast of a result of a massive earthquake or eruption in Auckland's future. Great sculpture.
Took several looks to find the cache, was a matter of removing rubbish and being prepared to stick fingers in further than one could see, hoping for no more broken glass.
Great cache site.

Thanks Amadanon - saves me a long drive Smile Just turf the current log - I'll run off a nice printed copy of the previous finders and park in the cache.

Replaced log.

What normally happens to the old logs?

28-Jan-07
Will sort out a new log in a couple of days Smile

28-Jan-07
2.55pm. Quite a few muggles around on this anniversary weekend with (so far) good weather!. Nevertheless the artifacts allow for unsuspicious inspection and the taking of photos so we didn't think we aroused any attention. Managed the find without difficulty and took to a nearby park bench. We used the last available space on the log sheet. Its full both sides so needs urgent replacement.
TFTC
Cool M&P.

28-Jan-07
I think that I took the last place for a signature on the very full log. The sculptures in the park are interesting and allow for loitering without looking too suspicious. Thanks!

26-Jan-07
Easy find. Nothing in, nothing out.

Note: Logbook is full. I didn't have a replacement, but work about 300 meters away, so I'll drop one in if/when I remember.

nice little spot for the cache.

found @ 7:40pm

Much like my last visit, 8.5 months ago, the GPS seemed to be dancing around all over the place, frequently changing which sculpture/table/bench it was pointing at, and it was only after systematically searching and re-searching each of the candidates that we eventually turned up the cache. Satisfying to finally find this one, but I'm a little confused why it turned out to be so tricky. TNLNSL, thanks.

Like the previous log, I found the velcroed in position cache, with a strange name on it--awira or something like that, its fairly new,but the glue holding the velcro to the structure is not going to go the distance.

Straight-forward given the clues - but we also found another container ('cache'?) which didn't match the clues, but was a plastic box velcroed to the underside of same artifact, but in a different alcove. Is there another game going on?

10-Nov-06
This was the third cache of the day after returning from a day trip to the west coast; and we had a coffee in the café overlooking the cache venue – so not far to walk. TFTC TNLNSL; we enjoyed this cache

2nd sculpture cache found in the area today. Once I had identified the likely spot, sitting down and feeling for it (while looking the other way) delivered the goods. Enjoyed the art too. TNLNSL. T4TC.

Found it! Beautiful sunny day. Dog managed to chase all the birds out of the park so this cache is now safe to visit if you're scared of birds.

28-Oct-06
A timely post from Adnshe diverted my cache run today to capture the micro geocoin. After all, I was already planning a trip to a nearby micro. I think I held the coin for a record breaking 20 minutes! Nice easy find in muggleville. TFTC!

Had to wait for a few muggles with their K9s to move on. Why can't they all come together instead of one after the other[:(!][:(!]. What should have been a 5 minute cache turned out to be a 20 minute oneRed Face. Don't they know that there are serious cachers out thereWinkWinkRazzRazz.
Cheers for the cache.

In company with the Sweet Pea and SBW out of Melbourne, we happily included this site on our tour of the city and we enjoyed the special features and artistic ambience of the area. A good hide, a place of interest, a point of difference and some fun to be had.

I was looking at these sculptures all summer wondering about hidding a cache somewhere. It's such a neat spot. Lots of people walking through the area but not stopping as it was late-ish in the afternoon. No one was interested in me anyway because there were three men putting up a billboard thing and that took folks attention. Another nice quick find.

Thanks for the hide Banaari

First of eight finds on my fourth night in Auckland. What a great cache! I really enjoyed the sculptures. I have a series of caches at home called "Yes, but is it art?", which focuses on public sculptures. These would make an excellent subject for that series. I particularly liked the statement on one of the sculptures about birds having once sat there. This is yet another example of not being aware of something if it weren't for geocaching. I found the cache at 1830. There were no muggles in the immediate vicinity at that time of night, so I was able to explore the sculptures fully, without interference. My thanks to banaari for a really enjoyable cache.

Heading back home to Hamilton tonight and decided to drop in here on the way. Well after dark but the council have thoughtfully lit up the area which makes it perfect for night caching although we did need a torch to see into some of the shadows. Enjoyed the "artifacts". Many thanks

it's somewhat depressing to see that five other people managed to find this cache over the Easter long weekend when I had no luck with it at all.

Found easily, although had to wait for muggles sitting at one of the the nearby tables to leave first.

Never seen these before and I think they're brilliant. Top marks to the sculptor. Found the cache easily enough, but had to do the "lets remove the litter" ploy to return it. Noticed one of the sculptures (not the one at GZ) was surrounded by clay - was this the work of the artist that "metamorphoses" existing sculptures?

02-Apr-06
No muggies in the rain. A quick look and grab did the deed.
Thanks for the cache!

I had seen these features on a previous visit to Auckland, and required very little encouragement to wander over and see them again. Nice details up close.

27-Mar-06
After spending an inordinate amount of time at two earlier caches I made up for it here. An easy find in about 20 seconds, and an FTF to boot.

I was lucky as I noted 3 muggles seated near by as I left my car but they left as I waited to cross the road.

I have looked in here many times when driving past but never investigated the area before.

Thought Navigull may have been distracted and not made it to this one.. So I set off in lunch break. After spending 10 minutes discreetly looking under wrong structure.. duh.. checked gps again and took 10secs to find.
Hmmmm Navigull didn't get distracted.. [Buggar..!]
