was out here ... to have a look
inland track is a mess & pretty overgrown
which is fine if you like to scratch your ride.

& QPWS have placed a "Road Closed' sign to deter people from access the cape via the inland track

thought about this for a couple of days and have concluded that it is probably best to 'archive' this one.
for the adventurous - the tip is still worth a visit

Thanks to kmthor for placing a new container. Found without problems, though my GPS was not very exact. About 7m out. But right spot was quite obvious. Nice view from here.

There is only one slot this cache could be. None was found so I'd have to say its gone.

Pulled the camp traler down along the beach to windmill bay where we camped, it was a great place even though it was a little windy and cold. Checked out the inland track it was open but you had to be cearefull not to get stuck as you could be there a long time getting out.The Cache was easy to find with great views.

On a tight schedule, having left Mackay around 4.30 in the afternoon on a grey rainy day, it would be a bit of a challenge to grab this one. I have been to CP a few times before, and was aware of the problems that can be had after rain, and on the beach. Fortunately, the tide was right, it was out. Even so, it was a careful trip along the tacks in the dark. I did have plans to camp overnight here, on the way up, and on the way back. Neither eventuated. When I reached the cache site, it was blowing an absolute gale. The camper was wet, and I was looking forward to getting home. The cache itself was found at 1845 hrs. It is still in excellent condition. The log was signed, and I was away again, following the track on the GPS to make sure I didnt lose my way. I finally reached Waverley Creek at about 2100 hrs, left again at about 0200 hrs, and arrived in Gladstone at 0500 hrs, with 18 finds, 1 location of a disabled cache, and 3 DNF's for the trip.

Cheers

Decided to head down to CP today (Easter Sunday) with some friends after finishing demolishing my kitchen!

A nice long half day trip through the area again to the great cache location......the inland track was easy again, as was the beach trip back.

Cache is still in great condition, with a well stocked cache to see. I have added a survival blanket, due to the windy conditions today. Took nothing, even though i had to fight my son not to take the camera (which i had left there in September 06).

Well worth the trip....

... went out with MapMonkey for a pleasant little drive up the cape. Well the inland track is in real good condition ... didn't need 4wd, tho the clearance is beneficial Big Grin
upgraded the cache to a small container - kept original micro container in new cache for momento. Surprised no one had had a go - thought it must have been lost ... nah still there. New container was going to be filled with fishing gear ... untill MapMonkey decided to leave a camera in there [:o)].

Found the cache with the company of the dandent clan and a friend of mine who enjoys playing with GPSrs (therefore quite appropriate to introduce him to geocaching).

Track into GZ was quite good, with obvious maintenance being done on this area. The Pajero had no problem going along the inline route even though there were talks on whether the track was wide enough.....suffice to say it is [^]

The cache was still intact and found to be right on the provided coordinates (as i would expect no less of dandent). A quick search had the cache in hand.

Views were unbelievable from this location with blue skies adding to the effect. Thanks to dan, this cache is being upgraded to version 2, which was well stocked. I have left a camera there for the next finders as i have gone digital for some time. Please take it with you and enjoy.

Nice new cache location reflecting the outstanding views over this environment.

Left dandent and explored the rest of the tracks in the area before following the beach track back. Came across one large turtle (gone to the big blue sea in the sky unfortunately) along the beach. The access around the point was quite easy and should pose little threat at the moment if staying high.

Thanks for the hunt Dandent and Co, and enjoy your trip North.

A great day out of the house......will be back to camp more often now that i know the environment.

Left camera and some button batteries (sealed), took nothing, signed log.

going to attempt to do some maintenance on this one this weekend - weather and track conditions permitting [?]. The maintenance will also be an upgrade of the cache - making it a bit bigger (with swaps), which will therefore incur a change in location ...

As I am heading off on a 3 week break not sure when I will be able to update the cache info.

For those without the necessary equipment or will (an older 4X4 vehicle) - I will also endeavour to set up a much more accessible cache in the area.
cheers Dan
