I really enjoyed this hike - its distance and elevation change was enjoyable without being too challenging/excruciating. It also helped when [stairman1](https://coord.info/PR4R27Z) and I utilised the time exchanging war stories, thus keeping our mind off the fitness, although my return of words took longer as we hit the last steeper section (the last 300 m), needing to catch my breath more. I forgot to record my journey, but it took us about 45 min to head up, and a similar time to return when we were back at our car at 13:00 hr.Once we were at the summit, we both had a snack / ate our lunch, all the while enjoying the views of the valley and surrounds. However, there were march flies about that were darn annoying, and they took their chances at biting us, so we had to keep slapping them off us. The cache didn't take long for [stairman1](https://coord.info/PR4R27Z) to find, as I initially started to search away from GZ. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and it was a great double container setup. Thanks PB1973/powellbruce for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was nice to have found this oldie 04/2006 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 500 oldest yet active geocaches.----------Today, I joined [stairman1](https://coord.info/PR4R27Z), and we headed north to the Sunshine Coast to Pomona and Mt Boulder.Following coffee in Pomona, we tackled [Serenity On The Mountain](http://coord.info/GC143MH) on the side of Mt Cooroora, and then picked up a few of the oldie geocaches within the area. We then headed north-west to Mothar Mountain Rock Pools in Woondum National Park, and after hiking to Mt Boulder summit, we headed along Boulder Creek tackling a couple of legendary caches [The Chief](http://coord.info/GC17W43) and [Pocohanis](http://coord.info/GC17W46). The weather was ideal and terrific, and company was terrific, thus making it a spectacular final day in winter!
Found with Davidwazza That is some heart starter. Loved the views. Now we have to head way down there. Only 800m or so. How hard can it be.All good here with your cache.TFTC
We arrived at the car park and it was a little chilly when we got out of the car but the lovely climb to the top soon sorted that out. It is such a quite peaceful place with just the occasional bird sound to be heard. Approaching GZ the coords led us right to the cache which was quite water logged due to a hole in the lid. Dick had a good container in his pack and he replaced the old one which was taken away. With our names in the log we headed back down the track to the rock pools. A great adventure in perfect weather, good company and the reward of a smiley here for a cache placed seventeen years ago. Thanks powellbruce and a favourite from me.
Today I teamed up with janetwil to make an assault on Mt Boulder. We arrived at the Rock Pool carpark on a chilly morning but with gorgeous sunshine. The walk up was ok but a bit steep on the last 300 meters, once at the top GZ was not far away. Janet soon made the find but unfortunately the containers lid was broken and the log was saturated. As luck would have it, I had a spare cache container in my haversack (see photo). Signed new log and managed to save the top sheet off old log and returned as found. Great views from up here. FP for the adventure. TFTC powellbruce
Found with mnance101 and bennyboppers today. A bit of effort required to get to the top but it was worth it. A lovely spot and a good walk. Tftc
Out caching with the Tough Mothers (Bennyboppers and Lisylou). A tough uphill hike when you haven’t done a hike for a while!TFTC!
Searched around, couldn’t find it. We were very wary of snakes and the steepness of the site.
After finding Mothar rock pool, Chief and Pocohonis, myself Gur and wombat hiked back to the car park.
Once at the car park, Gur had made an odd decision about traveling to Ipswich to pick up some coins and stones. I say odd, as this particular set of caches (the 4 in the park) are well out of the way for him.
It was a sad moment, the 3 of us split up.
I shared my lunch with wombat, who only brought along a water bottle. We are at the rock pool.
Then - some how, wombats fave pen got left behind at Pocohonis. Not just a $4 pen but a magic space pen that could write upside down, in water etc. An $80 mistake. Gur look as puzzle and shock as I. Wombat shed a tear. I made a choice of find this cache, and set Wombat off by himself to get the pen. He ran back to Pocohonis to retrieve the pen. Gur left, and I said I'll text him to let him know that I'd get home safe.
I set off up the track to Boulder mountain. Easy start, then the track decided to go up. A lot of up. 3 false summit later, including a really steep section and I made it to the top. Phew.
I made it to gz, end up put my bag down and search around for the cache. Wombat joined me about 5 or so minutes into my search. He was too exhaust to search, so left me to it.
A few minutes later, after put the technology down, I made the find. My first for the day.
Signed for both of us. Left a few swaps.
Lid has lost its rubber seal, but it seems to be ok.
A few photos, then back to the car.
Great view ..

I do love a summit climb.. so when it was suggested to include this cache on our days outings, i jumped at the chance.
Of course at the time i didn't realise i'd be making two trips to pocohanis, one at a much faster pace, before immediately beginning this hike.
Needless to say, i had some jelly legs by the final summit.
Those last few false summits, haha.
Choosing to place a cache up here so long ago, is easily grounds for another favourite point, i'm only too happy to impart.
Thank you powellbruce for choosing the coolest spots to hide geocaches.

Freezing but found with Snippyhippy after some bush bashing and Bending...the view was kissed by clouds
Found with Bell77au and Heinz. Chilly day up here today, lovely walk up the mountain. The container may not be waterproof anymore the seal has come away. No pen so I took a photo. TFTC
Glad to have my name in the log. We were meant to climb Mt Walsh too today but weather was too good to do this one. Thanks to georode, Snickerallan and Chamad for the great company, even though 2 of us brushed against a Gympie Gympie on the way to Pocahonis and saw a basking python on the way back to the trail.
Thanks for the cache and taking us here powellbruce.

The caches around Woondum National Park caching around Mothar Mountain have been on my “to do list” for some time and with the opportunity to finally get out and walk this area I couldn’t refuse.
I met, ESmiley, snickersallen and grorode in the car park at 7am and after the morning hello’s and gearing up it was not long before we were hitting the trails. The first was “the Chief” then “Pocohanis”. While we were searching around at the “easy” cache, georode decided to save time and get a little ahead of us and make the grab. We eventually got up to see a stunning view of the area. Then it was the walk back to the car park to continue on with my plans for the day.
Thanks for placing this one here.

Made it up this hill after completing the very challenging Pocohanis adventure. 40 mins up, 25mins down. I was surprised to see a causal 4WD pulling up at GZ. Didn't know you can drive up here.
Thanks for the fun hike.

On a day visit to Woondum National Park caching around Mothar Mountain with E_Smiley, georode & chamad.
This was our last cache for the day here and well worth the walk up from the rock pools which were jam packed with swimmers taking advantage of the recent heavy rains.
Quick find by georode once again as we were still trailing behind as usual.

Always looking for a cache that would make a good mountain bike ride so parked the ute at Cooran and pushed up the hill. Arrived at the top to find a group who had walked up from the rock pools with half of them sitting in the sun only meters from the cache so had to wait until they moved on. Found and signed cache. Thanks powellbruce.
Hiked up from the rock pools with a group including loafer64. Found a log in a zip lock bag under a rock but it was soaked through. Sacrificed a lunch box, a couple of pages from a notebook and a zip lock bag. It’s now a small pink clip lock container. Thanks for the cache
Out for a day of caching with storigirls, Mr Curious Quest and 1MinnieMoo. I parked the geomobile at the gate with many locks. Pity none of us has any lock picking skills. Nothing for it, but to walk. We reached the concrete path and up we went. OMG!!!!! How steep is this path!!!!! Not sure the poor 4cylinder geomobile would have made it, even if we could have driven! I could say that section was the longest 300m walk I have ever done, but I would be lying. Although I think I can safely say it is the longest 300m walk on a nice a nicely paved track. I was out of breath and stopped to rest while the others to search. The emergency lob left by the previous finders was quickly located and our names added to the log. TFTC

Out for the day with SelvaGirls, StortiGirl and Curious Quest. This was our first cache of the day, which we very much wish we could have driven up to. Skeleton Key anyone?!
I mean seriously, that concrete path! The longest 300m ever!
We searched and we searched and searched some more. And we finally found the emergency log placed by the previous finders.
The view up here would be pretty awesome on a clear day!
Thanks for the cache PB1973.

Today i was invited to accompany up the coast with Selvagirls, Stortigirls, and 1Minnie Moo to do some caching so jumped at the chance. Having hiked up to this one I was a little exhausted by the time I reached the top. View was a bit disappointing as it was quite overcast.
After a little while the emergency log was in hand, signed and then returned. TFTC

Out caching today with Selva Girls, 1MinnieMoo and Mr Curious Quest we took a scenic walk up Mt Boulder. We parked near the famous gate with many locks and followed the trail to gz. The log was found fairly quickly and signed. We had brought a replacement container with us that Selva Girls had in the car; having read the prevous logs, but unfortunately it was too big to fit into the hide. All was returned as found and back to the car for us. Tftc powellbruce

Saturday. Slow Puncture was out today with a lovely group of like-minded cachers to grab some caches up Cooran way, this cache being one of them. We left Brisbane very early and arrived at the car park at 7am near the rock pool so we could find the nearby caches and then we made our way to this cache, hoping to have a find, as we realised there had been 2 previous DNFs. A hot and humid walk had our group of Bulldozer; Pprime(P’); Ruzzelz and Slow Puncture making our way to this cache. Actually, it was insanely humid! We drove along the dirt road from the Mothar Mountain Rock Pool and although it said 4 wheel drive only, certainly today, in dry weather, 2 wheel drive would accomplish the drive. We travelled along until we had to turn left onto the road leading to the trail that would take us to this cache. Oh, for a key that would fit just one of the locks holding the gate closed at the start of the trail head. So many locks! And no keys. We noticed that a motor bike had very recently skipped past the narrow space next to the gate and left a trail behind all the way along the dirt trail and up the long long hot concrete pathway that led us to the communications tower.
It was so humid today and we were getting reports of bitumen melting on a road in Brisbane. Yikes! We drank so much and it felt that as I was drinking, it was going out in sweat. I hadn’t read all the logs and didn’t realise that there was a concrete pathway that we had to walk up to get to near GZ. The heat was bouncing off the concrete and was making a group of hot walkers even hotter. We neared in on GZ and started our search. We didn’t turn up with a cache container even though our arrows were pointing right to GZ and we also had intel pics of what the area looked like where we should be searching. We left a log and bag and will be contacting the CO to see if we can log a smilie on this cache.
This was the 4th of 8 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***powellbruce***, for showing us this place.

@Slow Puncture put the call out for a walk and that we did down below. Now, along with @Ruzzelz and @Bulldozer72 we drove up the track as far as we could go. This was the hottest part of the hottest day in a year, and after a short down track in stifling shade, we were confronted by the up path. Gleaming concrete in the blazing sun. No breathe of wind. No worries - up we plodded. Puffing, plodding, zagging from briefest bit of shade to the next. Around the bend and up some more.
We noticed here, and a few more times by the time we got back to the cars. a certain hum over and above the various insect noises around us. Possibly the high-voltage tension wires, but only in this spot, not elsewhere - and we heard it at other times in places nowhere near the wires. Curious minds left unsatisfied.
Once, finally, at the top we headed to 0m on the GPSrs, a spot we all liked, and later found matched a photo someone sent us. The heat really set in, the sun beat down relentlessly. We hunted high and low and way out on either side to 30m+. No joy. Down the cliff face and out around the bottom in case it had fallen or been thrown down. Nada. Sad. Heat-struck. Exhausted. Starting to run out of water. We left our own log and the CO has taken pity on our efforts.
The views are quite nice actually, would be gorgeous at dawn.
Thanks for placing this cache, powellbruce. Logged with permission.

Out and about early today in the company of Slow Puncture, Pprime (P`), Buldozer and 4ando we completed the caches down on the creek first up.
4ando had decided to return home for family duties while the remainder of the group decided to go for a little drive up the mountain in search of other caches. We soon found that this did get us only a little closer to the cache but certainly much higher in elevation (except for the 100m lost in walking down the first bit). It was then that the UP begins, and then just as you round the corner you discover that you are still not up. This is a challenging little hill.
Once at the top the search began we took the high ground, we took the low ground, we took the side of the cliff under the cliff and even the walking path (just in case). We found some very good hiding places in doing this. Eventually we broke and sought assistance from previous finders. Armed with photographic evidence we eventually settled on a logical hiding spot which somewhat matched the photograph.
Now it was during this period that the heat started to set in and at least 2 or the 3 of us had to have a little R&R and seek food and water to ensure we could continue. It was HOT, that said it was unlikely it was at the temperatures that the Brisbane area was experiencing.
Given our efforts the CO has kindly allowed us to log the cache as we left an emergency log in the hide location.
Now back to that challenging climb - a couple of months back some friends of mine managed to ride part what up here. Unfortunately l was unable to join them on the day. (Maybe I was fortunate)

Looked in every crevice for over 30 mins. No luck. Will come back when confirmed that it’s here. Nice views though

We had heard that ViKoCZ was back in town and knowing he enjoyed a good hike, we took the opportunity to head off to a cache we needed for another loop of our D/T grid and collected a few others while we were in the area
An early start was decided on to hopefully complete the hike before the day became too hot. While the temperature wasn't too bad, the humidity on the other hand was a killer
We decided to take a drive down the nearest road to see if this would be an option to head in from to reach ground zero. We like to think it was the better option, even if the last few hundred metres were rather steep The cache was located easily enough and with our names added to the log book, we continued on our way.
Thank you powellbruce for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

#4278 [11:17] we tried going up from the north side as it looked much easier and almost no elevation marked. okay, in total maybe, but there is a huge gap between parking and the cache so i wonder if we have saved some meters or not comparing going from pools . we were also surprised of new road, interesting why here...
the cache is at the nice spot and is inconspicuous, we were looking a while right around thanks for taking us here!

As of today the closest you can get a vehicle is at a new gate @ -26° 14.772' 152° 48.653'
Mind you the walk in from here is great, and the highway that's been put in for the last 300m is even better [^] (see photos I've put up the old track as well as the new)
Cache is dry and in good condition [^]

The last time I was in this area I had found the three nearby caches but left this one for another day. Today was that day.
Dora the Explorer and I spent a day of caching and this cache was a cache that was on my target list. Dora the Explorer had previously found it.
After negotiating the bush tracks we were able to park the vehicle in a suitable spot and make the final assault on the cache on foot.
After some huffing and puffing we were near GZ so commenced our search for the treasure. After a little while the cache was in hand.
The log was signed and returned to the cache and the cache replaced exactly as found.
All is good with this cache.
Find #676.

Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
Just over three years ago, Fangsoki decided he was going to Mount Boulder and to invite me along too. I'm not one to refuse such an offer - geocaches a distance from home are generally better I feel. It was a DNF that trip and I wasn't *too* worried about it after that. It annoyed Fangsoki though and he got back to find it once it was replaced. At least it was missing though, and not just us being blind!
Today a plan was hatched between Fangsoki, Gaz'n'Kab, Catscatscats22 plus myself to head up to the Boulder Mountain area for a few finds of the older persuasion. It's a bit of a drive up from Brisbane, but a car full of friends makes time fly. On our DNF visit, Fang and I trekked up from the Mountain Rock Pools. Oh, we did the honest and hard yards, so this time I wasn't arguing about doing the slightly lazier option of driving the 4WD route.
I would've gone a well wrong way, so was thankful Fangsoki knew the right tracks to take. Just a couple of stops for geocaches along the way had us parked at the bottom of a steep hill. Yeah, no use driving that, 300m of two feet and a heartbeat it is! And steep it was. Not to mention looser than the proverbial goose. All of us had traction issues on the way up. Not to mention it was bloody hot out in the sun.
Up the top was a breeze, a magnificent view and a promised geocache. It took all five of us some time to locate the well hidden beast. The logbook was passed around for all to sign. More sitting around admiring the views before we headed back was lovely. Down down, much slipping down!
Getting back to the car was a nice relief, and Fang let Gaz and myself drive bits of the track back. Offroading sure is fun! Having hiked up to this one, then had to 4WD to it, two trips 150 kilometres from home, I think I've certainly earned the Terrain rating on this find. Now over ten years old, great to find this one still going and being maintained and loved. Thanks for this geocache, powellbruce

Out and about today with Fangsoki, catscatscats22 and Captain Terror and with this one was first up on the list for us today as we made our way around out of town What a fantastic spot up here! We set off from the bottom of the hill choosing to walk up and were a little exhausted by the top we reached the summit, however we were quickly rewarded with breathtaking views of the area and of course this cache! We added our names to the logbook, before heading off to grab a few more in the area [^]

With the wife driving as her car made our way on a 4WD track. A bit rough in areas but take your time and you will get there. Last section way too steep and rough so walked it. Good for the heart and lungs.
At Gz we looked everywhere but no luck. I reset my gps and slowly went back in and was taken to a spot I had checked already. This time down on my hand and knees and did thorough search and finally found

We drove up here to get out of the rain for a bit and it finally stopped raining. The 4wd track was really fun and easy. We stopped as other did and walked the last 300m up. Got to gz and it took us ages to find. Read through previous logs which said not in an obvious spot. Whilst searching got a message from a previous searcher about something totally unrelated and asked her for a hint. Whilst I was waiting decided on a systematic search and searched every blade of grass and nook and cranny in the area indicated by the gps as previous logs indicated the co ords were spot on. Made the find and scored some unlove, even though I wasn't even looking for it. Didnt even look at what the previous finder had sent me. Great phone reception up here which is surprising. Nice views. As it had stopped raining decided to head back for pochanis, which was the main cache that i had come for, as I needed it for a challenge. This is my 1000 find and as indicated by ground speak found on a leap day, even though I logged it 1 March.
Found while up here for work. Great site, easy drive by.

About time I changed my blue face (DNF) to a nice yellow smilie.
Geopartner and I love 4WD'ing and when we arrived at the rock pools, we kept on going.
Up and up and up the track. It was everything of a 4WD track with potholes, big humps in it, sticks rocks and muddy areas and twisting and turning and unevenness. It had been graded but not a very good job.
We arrived at the junction and headed in towards the mountain but when we arrived at the other antennae, the track was too much that it had rocks in it, that we abandoned the geomobile and walked the last km up the mountain following the track.
At one stage, I was slipping in the gravel and could not get purchase for my boots on the track, I was almost crawling up, but I made sure I got to the top.
We arrived in the search area and geopartner looked in one area and I said that it was more over this way and then I spotted the cache. We took some photos of the cache and the view and then headed back to the geomobile satisfied at last after 4 climbs both ways up this mountain that we had at last found what we were looking for.

Ahh Mt Boulder.. you taunt me no more.
I tried to find this cache in July 2013 with Captain Terror. We spent a considerable amount of time scrambling through the rocks. Nada for us. A bit disappointing as we had put in the hard yards by going up the walking track. But that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.
Since then, the cache owner has replaced said cache. I at least felt justified that it was not there when we searched
Sweet_bee and I decided to go for a bit of a jaunt today - and finally get this one done and dusted. I had gone the hard yards up the walking track.. it was time to go the "alternate route".. via the 4WD track.
We entered the area near the Rock Pools. Right from the get-go I knew this would be "fun". The recent rains have done considerable damage to the road beyond. But the Canyonero did what it did best and plodded up the rutted road.
We turned off at the right place and kept driving. Thankfully, all things said and done, this part of the track wasn't too bad. It's not till you get to the last 300m that the track goes very up.
Decisions decisions - do we go up? We started to drive up with no problems. I probably could of kept going - but decided to not continue. We were not 4WDing with anyone else... and I don't need any unpleasantness. Sweet_bee guided me as I did a 7 point turn to head back down. I parked up safely and headed up the hill. Meh.. 300m. Whatevs.
Sweet_bee and I picked our way up the slippery track before falling out up the top. Ahh the familiar area. Sweet_bee was very impressed with the views. We headed toward GZ and started the hunt. So.. hmm no.. it was not where I thought it was going to be. We probably looked for a good 20 minutes. Nada I aint coming back again!
I decided to PAF using Facebook. Yet again, for the second time today, I find the cache myself right at that particular moment. *SIGH* That is indeed a sneaky hide. Much to my annoyance, the GPSr was very happy with the co-ordinates.
We signed the log.. removing some cigarette rolling papers found in the cache. Aint nobody got time for that I re-hid the cache as found.. make sure it had some cover. We took a few obligatory photos and we started to head back down.
We were just as slow going down as coming up.. being careful not to slip over and got back to the car.
We were a happy pair to be back on the bitumen. A fantastic cache. I earned my "Terrain 4" by 4WDing and by going up the "proper" hiking track on foot. Very happy to have this one done. TFTC powellbruce

Last one for the day. Still a few hours before dark so no worries about that. The trail to the top was well marked and easy to follow. I did not find it difficult, but it is steep at the bottom and very steep near the top.
When I got to the top I followed the arrow towards GZ and got lucky with a nice quick find. At least the trip back to the car will be much easier
A nice short walk up a little hill.

After rock hopping our way up the nearby creek earlier in the morning, we decided to head uphill to grab some other caches. With our efforts this morning there was no way we were going to make the walk up when there was a perfectly good 4WD track leading right up to GZ, so we jumped in the Zoomin Shroom and headed off. The track was pretty good most of the way, except for the odd washout, until we hit the final steep track to the top. I was glad it was Swellerfungus driving, but the Shroom handled the conditions admirably. We both jumped out for the search and both had a similar search area being indicated on the GPSrs. I chose a certain spot to search which was not the hide but very close to it and a fortunate movement of some camo revealed the hide. Very tricky, I was lucky to find it the way I did. With the names in the log we replaced as found and headed off back down the steep track. The car may have save the T4 walk up but I think that last bit of the track was almost a T4 for the 4WD. Good views to be found up here. TFTC.
Seffnjarah and I made our way up here the easy way - well modestly easy! The last bit of the drive was a nice challenge for my recently purchased Zoomin Shroom!. It was good to give it a little bit of a test run!
Once at the summit we set about the search. My iPhone was 100% accurate and led us straight to it. A great spot for a cache indeed. Well hidden.
Back down the mountain, and off home to Brisbane. Any others will have to await or return visit (hopefully on Australia Day next year for a local geocaching event.
Thanks powellbruce. (I think that would have been a brutal walk!)

Always love a good hill climb, So when the family decided to go camping to a camp ground not to far away for the school holidays. I just had to go and check this cache out. The plan was to get up early and get a start on it, but today the morning temperature was down in the minuses so we had a later start.
From the car park the walk started of easy, but then when you get to the sign "very steep section" this part had the heart going but not to bad. On reaching the top my gps decided it didn't won't to play fare. Lucky for me I had a new cacher along Snow Bear. With Snow Bear's gps working well we zeroed in on GZ, Within just a couple of minutes Snow Bear has found her first cache, Way to go.
It was good to see this cache is in real good condition and very well stocked. After replacing the things back the way we found it, we took some time to take a couple of photos.
With the walk up took just under an hour, the trip back only took us 40 minutes. I do love this kind of walk so it's a favourite from me. TFTC

This is my first cache as an official cacher, While camping with coolumroo this week we had a plan to go for a short hike. The morning was a bit cold but not to bad for a snow bear. So it was up the hill we go. On getting to the top it was a bit entertaining watching coolumroo fight with his GPS and stubble around through the bush. So it was time to help out. With helping out a few times before I had a bit of an idea of where to look and it wasn't long and the cache was found. Love the view, Thanks For The Cache.
Road tripping again!!! Woohoo! This time it's a maintenance run with Brother Colin A couple of big walks we wanted to do here, and we thought we'd get this one done first. After getting the cache at the start of the track for me, we began the haul up this hill. Pretty darn steeeeeeeep right from the get-go, but we pushed hard and breathed hard, and took rests as needed. About 35 minutes later we reached the sign for the last 300 metres, and saw the last slog was definitely going to be tough Sometimes it was almost a crawl But we reached the summit in 50 minutes from the car. Happy about that!
Now for a quick grab and we'll get going... uhhh, maybe not 40 minutes later we finally found the damn thing! And how did we miss that??? Back down the hill at a pretty fast trot, and I was back at the car in 20 minutes [^] Mmmm... that rock pool looks inviting... time for a swim, methinks TFTC, powellbruce. A favourite point from me.

Out and about on a day trip north with IolantheK to do a maintenance on a few of my caches.
We also found a few caches that are in the area since I was last here.
This cache was not exactly on the program today but we were close by.
We powered up the trail with lots of steam train impersonations and we made it to the top in about 50mins. There were a few people in 4WD's parked up there.....mmmm...an easier way up here.
After lots of looking here and looking there....it took us 40 mins....but we found the cache.
A 25min downward return to the car park.
Thanks for the cache.

I happened to meet the CO at the Gympie event and naturally brought this cache up for discussion. Being a good bloke he chose to check it out and found it missing, just like the rest of us. Finding this cache first started for me a few months earlier when I did a group raid with Membsec, Nyssaflutterby and Angela minus Dave and we came up very empty handed, so when Mr Powell replaced this one I was up here very bloody quickly.
Even though it was very hot, I still made my way up to GZ in 40 minutes. I thought it was going to be a quick find but not so. I looked everywhere I did last time and almost gave up but was very lucky to stumble upon...40 minutes after starting to look for it. Who would think an ammo can would be so hard to track down.
On a promise to get home, I was quickly down the hill in 15-20 minutes and back on my merry way. I think I was the first to add my name as found on this one for 21 months or so. I had discussed this cache with a lot of people that had given up on it, but I was was more positive about it. I knew the persistence would pay off.
Thank you very much for bringing me here twice powellybruce. Awesome little spot where I enjoyed the views the first time.

It would seem appropriate for me to comment on this cache.
I doubt that it is missing. When I found it, it was well hidden and covered well.
All I can say, it is not where one would expect to find a cache, and it is unlikely to become water loged. I was stumped for quite a while, found as I was about to quit.

Just good to go up this mountain for the challenge. It seems I have to tell my purpose to other cachers everywhere I go. Thanks powellbruce

Gee, what a slog this hill is. Did it with Fangsoki today and I think we were both a tadly underprepared but we made it. It felt like it was longer than what the sign said. After finding the cache near the bottom and winding our way upwards along the ever steepening path we got to the sign that said 'steep ascent ahead', that little sign sure did not lie.
We finally piled out at the top and with a breather done, it was onto the cache. GZ provided an abundance of choices to hide a cache. We both spent a good hour here looking and trying to read every detail from the cache page. Several clean sweeps, lifting every rock, moving every tuft of grass, slipping down the hill.. none of it showed a cache within about 30m of the co-ords. Hmm, a bit of a bummer. The best we found was a pen that matched the description of one in a previous log (basically that it was not working).
Sad that it may be gone and with the owner not signed in for some time, even sadder that it may not be long for this world now. Hopefully we'll be back for this cache though.

Unfortunately, a big [u]DNF[/u] for Captain Terror and I today. We did the climb and clamber and was very happy to get to the top.
But no cache for us - for the sake of searching for an hour or so. I've tried to contact the cache owner but received no reply (they have not logged in this year).
Was not comfortable doing a throwdown as I had no idea where the original cache was. Guess we will have to come back at some stage. A nice walk. TFTH.

Found it at 1340, left the carpark at the rock pool at 1130, I was absolutely bushed when I got to the top, [xx(] 10 min break to catch my breath and off for the hunt, GPS was doing strange little things, put it down to the nearby radio towers.
Just to make this trip worth the while, I took some pic's
The cache is very well, all OK, except, bring your own pen, this one in the cache has dried up from lack of use, it's been 23 months since this has been found.
I think the Terran rating should be a 4 - 4.5, I've done a 3 before, nowhere as hard or as steep as this.
Some info for the young ones; I'm 4 days off my 67th birthbay, have a go, it's worth the view.
Do not recommend this one for the number crunchers. You have to put too much effort into it. Only for the caching enthusiast.
I can finally say TFTC powellbruce

I must admit that I took the easy way up as I had a hard walk to the next couple of caches.
Arriving at the top I found the two Energex vehicles parked at the tower and the workers having a break.
Walking off to GZ the cache was found pretty quick but I can understand how it could take longer. I enjoyed the views from both sides of the mountain before returning to have a chat with the workers and then heading back down the mountain.
A great location that I didn't know about. Thanks for taking me there PB.

I was driven up to this location the previous day by a young guy I had only just met, in a Subaru Liberty. I couldn't believe where he was willing to take that little car and how capable it was. On my return though I had no paperwork on the cache, only the co-ordinates, but I wasn't going to leave until I found it which turned out to be pretty quickly. Magnificent views on a beautiful day. Took the drive up in the company of Cooroy Scouts and even had the cache owner with us in case we needed a "plan B" as we had heard from CS how hard this cache was to find. The drive up was interesting - lots of mature vegetation to be seen - the last section of the track being steep and rough. Justly so, Vicki from CS managed to find the cache fairly quickly on this her 4th visit. We were searching nearby but she found the right spot. Took scratchy and left keyring. Thanks powellbruce it was an enjoyable adventure.
well what can we say about this, fourth time to find this,we met up with liz and bruce at the rock pools, low and behold power bruce hops out the car.i think we are going to be lucky.nice drive up to this one, they have opened the road, beware the last 100 metres.found easily this time.

This was certainly a tough one on a very hot summers day. We took plenty of rest and water breaks but got up and down in under 2 hrs. Great view from the top and we really enjoyed the exercise. We took the GeoCoin and left scratchies. Hope the next person game enough to tackle the mountain will win big. TFTC
Decided to go and check on this one Nice early morning exercise up the mountain.
Plus launching my coin into the wilds.

This is certainly a place I would not have visited or known anything about, had the cache not brought me out here.
I really enjoyed my walk up the hill - the bush is lovely & changes many times on the way up. There was plenty of bird life around to keep me company.
It took me 40 minutes to get to the top - though be warned: your rate of progress will slow down from about 250m away from the cache... this is where it gets steep!
I got back to the car in about 20 minutes and my round trip took a total of about 70 minutes.
Thanks for the cache & the exercise - loved it!

Great Cache Stash. As we had been here before on a bushwalking excretion as well as a 4WD trip we knew how to prepare ourself for the ascend to the top of the mountain.
(We have climbed this hill before and knew how good it was, ha. ha.). On arriving at the top we headed of to find the cache, after stumbling around for a while Maria yelled out "I’ve found it", we then handed the GPS to Nancy so she could get some experience at geocaching. (She has just signed up) after trying to walk of the side of the mountain we were able to guide her back in the general direction for her to discover the booty.
If you are going to climb this mountain make sure you take plenty of water as well as something to snack on, we know from past experience how hard it can set.
Took TB and Aussie key ring, left race car, drop bear and tweety rowing a boat.

We have to agree with you Dandent, that was a bit hairy in some spots near the top, took us nearly three hours but spent a bit of extra time up top and I held things up a bit as I am scared of heights and had to resort to sliding down on my backside in a few spots (if only we had a video camera). As much as the climb nearly killed us, or mainly
me, it was worth it at the top. Took crazy ball, left Oz keyring. Took geo coin, left Spiderman TB. TFTC The Cooks

a few little scrambles - you are not kidding. Those near the top are killers [xx(].
3.2km - yeh right - that would be horizontal now wouldn't it. (I am going to find out the elevation of this spot - appears to be higher than Pomona - which you can see from here - OK well the top of it which looks lower). I managed to get up in an hour, 10min for the cache, 10m looking around, and back at the car in just under 2hrs. (& I am not fit (plenty of stops on the way up), but had no kids in tow...not trying to set any benchmarks/records, just letting others know, so they can allocate appropriate time for it). Oh and don't you just love it when you get to the top of these things and find a road!!! (but it is not like just anyone can use it - looks like it is the hard way for all ) ...onto the cache.
All fine, another FTF, took frog, and to comemorate completing all of Mr Powell's current crop of EXCELLENT caches, released another signal geocoin.
thanks again..
