Down in Whakatane again for work. Borrowed a collegue's truck and went for a trip.
Even knowing the cache has been disabled, thought I would give it a go.
Slower find due to several things, lots and lots of wasps at the initial Clue 1 WP, Also lots of work phone calls.
Found cache in good condition.
Took the SNF Prestlock TB for a wee trip back up north. Hope it likes the flight!
Close by, there is a great fish and chips shop so had a bite to eat for lunch while there.
Nice views!

Attacked by blackberry bush while retrieving clue 1. Quick walk to target location, easy find. TNLNSL [TFTC #16]
The geriatric hippies must have been having a 'geriatric' moment when they took these co ordinates! Had to revert to the clue after scrambling around in scrub & blackberry & finally located it. Brilliant spot with fantastic views. Well worth the walk & history lesson. TFTC
Tried to find this first on the 14th, straight after arriving in Ohope for a few days on the beach. That was a very misty evening and I didn't have the printout or hint. There seemed to be lots of signs of other people searching the area where the etrex was consistently pointing but couldn't find anything except lots of tasty berries.
Came back the next morning with the rest of the family in tow, and also after having read the description and decoded the hint. At first I thought the hint was a "Clayton's hint" but realised later it was giving some real information - even if it only applies for one appraoch to the area which was not the one we had used! Found it pretty quickly on this second visit. Didn't make any swops - just signed the log book. The listed coordinates seemed to be about 15 metres too far to the south-west which makes quite a difference in this case!
Afterwards I checked out the other parts of the Pa site - there are a lot of interesting and pretty areas about 250 metres south of the current cache that would provide nicer places to hide it in my opinion - not that I'm really complaining!
Thanks for giving me a reason to check out this site.

Quick stop just off the road...and a bonus history lesson. Magnificent views from Port Ohope to Ohiwa Harbour..found cache easily..except it went for a wee roll...retrieving it was a prickly task, found with T&M in the late afternoon. TFTC, TNLNSL
Great views on a beautiful day. Found after a short search. The second set of co-ords combined with the clue made it easier.

Found this cache at 10pm at night. NZHeads had the GPS up the top, so I decided I would have a look around where I thought it would be going off the clue. I found it easily, left my torch going where it was hidden so I wouldn't forget where it was. Great spot for a cache.
TNLN SL Thanks for the cache.
TNLN SL Thanks for the cache.
We found this one in the dark, I aggree that the coords are out quite abit. Not much to see in the dark so will have to come back in the daylight one day. TNLNSL
Easy find thanks to the local weeders, sitting out in the open. Dropped a turtle sharpener. Agree with others the coordinates are in error (we got S37 58.724 E177 04.249). 5th for day
Great views from here. Almost gave up on this one but with help of clue we got it. Thanks. TN Left our card.
Hubby tackled this one solo, unfortunately to no avail. He found where he thought the cache should be but no luck even with the updated coordinates from previous logs.
Since we had just left the owner of this cache we decided to check it out since Butterfly Lady couldn't find it. Well we couldn't either - until we rang the owner! GPS co-ord send you on a wild goose chase. We have taken 8 new GPS readings and averaged them out as S 37 deg 58.725 and E 177 deg 04.248. Clue could be more precise since Butterfly lady got the hint and still couldn't find it either. Apart from that - great spot! It's marvelous where geocaching takes you!!
Not much luck with this one today. GZ was in an area of gorse and shrub. After a fruitless hunt, sat and took in the view. This Pa site is immense.
Resorted to clue, which suggested that GZ was about 14 metres away from where the GPSr took us. Hunt resumed after a large group of muggles left the area. Decided that we should look under and alongside every step leading up to the area. Lots of overgrowth here. Also checked out shrubs at eye hunt.
After too much time, realised that the search had to come to an end.
Thanks for taking us to this fabulous site.

Yeah... got it. Found with Chivasnz. The coordinates/GPS took us to the wrong place where we hunted around for a while then we decided to check the clue. This took us back to where we thought it would be in the first place and the find.
Maybe we'll have to start reading the clues first.
What a fantastic spot. The views were amazing.
Thanks for taking us to this place.
No exchange made.

Found with tdbearnz. Kept us busy for a while looking in the wrong place, then we checked the clue and returned to where we had thought it might be in the first place. Wonderful spot, and fabulous views. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely place.
Hmmm, that's always the way isn't it, you struggle for ages and someone else strolls up and finds it in 3 minutes.
I'm back in the UK now so it'll have to wait until next time.

FTF did this 1 with my dad rick-a-mortis, this 1 was easy we were up and down and all around . neat place to see the country . nice views .took photo of veiw.
Saw this crop up and thought a FTF in another country would be great - the views are awesome, you can see my dads house from up here, but sadly couldn't see the cache - I looked for over half an hour.
