Came on the lookout for a letterbox. Found this first. Nice walk if a bit up and down.
Driving to Golden Bay to pick something up and not sure what exercise we can give the dogs today. Noticed this had a dogs ok attribute so we came here. Thanks for showing us this lovely walk Rangi. I did almost get hit by a heavy branch falling down once back near the road which was scary but all was good at the hide.
I missed the parking spot on the way up and had to stop and ask for directions (from Google maps).
It had just rained a bit, so the path was made so much more enjoyable by water falling on me from every little branch I brushed against. Once at GZ, I applied the hint and found the cache right away. I'm thinking this would be a nice place for a picnic if I could just get someone to carry all the stuff from the car. TFTC.

It is a long weekend (Anzac Weekend) and NZDi wanted a few days away. We spent a few days in Motueka over Easter and intended to tack a couple of days at Kaiteriteri to that trip, but end up staying at Mot, so this trip is to make up for that. Our intention was to come across on Friday, spend two nights at the camping ground, then head home. But we enjoyed the first two days so much, we tacked another day onto it and will go home on Monday.
Today is day three of our holiday and being Anzac Day, first up is to attend an Anzac service before any geocaching is contemplated. This year I chose the Riwaka service. If I am away from home on Anzac Day I always attend a local service in the area where I am. That way I have been to dozens of different services around the country.
After the service, we packed a picnic lunch and headed towards Marahau, caching along the way. This was our fourteenth find of the day and I made the approach from below which I think was the easier option for me. From the log I see that we aren't the only cachers aprt from Madcow2 in the area today with Karma Reprint and Mrs KR also enjoying the local caching scene.
This was our nineteenth find of the day after getting a rare Letterbox Hybrid cache further back along the track. Due to an accurate hint, this was a QEF PnG and got just before my battery ran out.

Having dropped HorseGirlNZ at friend's a way back down the road I set off for a dog walk, or two, or three with some end-of-year caching to boot!
What's that Mellow? You want another walk? Well it's a good job there's this unexplored track here. Let's go.
Popular with dog walkers at this time of year, I fitted right in as we wandered along the track.
Hitting the GZ, Mellow had a quick swim before retracing our steps and getting down to caching business. As we approached I hoped I'd seen what I thought I'd seen...and I had.
A nice hide in a nice location.
Thanks Rangi - happy new year

Thanks for bringing me here, I had no idea this walk existed! I had a bit of trouble with this cache. I got to gz and found I'd left my pen and compass in the car, but I managed without both
Quick find, found cache a little exposed so it is well covered now. Log nice and dry for a wet area. TFTC Rangi.
Today RG1972 and I went to Marahau. A first for me, I have never been here. Which is a bit odd, as I have previously found caches just a few kms down the road.
It was a great day. We loaded the bikes and parked out of town, then rode on in for a bit of casual cache collecting and to enjoy the views.
On the way out we did a loop walk that was slippery but fun, and bumped into a few friends along the way.
A fun day. Thanks all COs.

A couple of nights ago in the dark and pouring rain I sped right past this one en route to the letterbox cache. It wasn't till I was logging that find that I discovered in my haste I completely missed this one so this evening I put things right and returned to the picnic table. In some ways this had been my plan to have lunch here although it's probably a better option in summer. Like a few nights ago we managed to see the glow worms as we exited the track back up to the truck. I really like the fact that this track is probably not visited all that often, except maybe for cachers looking for an older active cache. Thanks Rangi, your cache is in relatively good condition considering how wet it is here. I think it deserves a favourite point.
What a lovely spot, clearly been quite a bit of rain recently though as track a little slippery in places. A quick find with SJT_NZ on an enjoyable holiday outing, thanks Rangi, cache all in good order.
First time on this track with Tregearp. A great spot with a beautiful piwakawaka watching every move as we found the cache and completed formalities. Thanks Rangi for bringing us to this spot and for the cache.
9th and final cache for the day and another goodie. A nice wee trip to the nearby stream first and then it was search time. I'd told myself it would be near a Rimu tree . . . wrong. In the end mrs capperz spotted the hint item in a place the opposite of the hint. All good and signed on the replacement log from TBD.
A first trip 'over the hill' for what seems like a while and the last day of November as we careen rapidly towards the end of 2019. This month has been my most prolific for over 4 years, thanks to a couple of road-trips, and some numbers chasing in Canterbury. It's getting close to our anniversary and my birthday so we agreed to treat ourselves to a drive, browse, and a few caches. Left home around 0730 and back through the door just before 9 last night, a grand day out in beautiful sunshine.

Now time for a walk up Rimu Valley. Been here before for the letter box cache but ran out of time for this one. So Im back and enjoying my walk amongst all these trees. Replaced manky log with RITR temp log to keep this one rolling along. Cheer
Its Labour Weekend so Zara, Toby and I are off to explore Tasman for a few days. Its Sunday, Zara is resting up in Motueka, while Toby and I are heading back to Kaiteriteri to explore some more.

Today we had a day off and visited the beach of Kaiteriteri. We had some problems to find the right point for the virtual but finally the view was worth it. After another trading also with a great view to another beach we failed with the multi - again a multi. We continued our trip to Marahau and found a nice café at the entrance to the Abel Tasman Nationalpark. On our way back to Motueka we stopped for the letterbox cache and had an exciting tour in the jungle.

After we have found the letterbox we catches this one also. Thanks for the cache
We are on vacation in New Zealand and of course we seek some caches.
Thanks for this one!

Been past here many many times but a first time in the walk. Fabulous !! Sadly there is a very smelly carcass at the track start. Cache very soggy inside and out . Unable to write in log
Track in not been maintained recently and starting to get overgrown. Nice quick find at game zone but logbook very wet. Still able to add my name. Able also to claim 449m towards the DGSc distance challenge. Thanks for the cache.
Nine days to do some caching for the price of four leave days - who could complain about that! I found a quirky place to stay near Motueka, ad decided to base myself there to cache in the wider area. I had a few on my hit list, and ended up finding a great variety of different caches on the trip.
Day six - noce little walk, but I was grateful for the hint! Cache very well covered and would have been hard to locate! TFTC!!

thanks for taking us on this walk - its a beautiful valley very wet cache - but put it into a new bag.
Paddle chick and I went for a walk though the bush to get a couple of caches.I have been past this track many times on our way to Marahau and didn't realize it was here. Tftc Rangi
I've had this on my must do list for ages. A nice bush walk, looks like the track doesn't get much use, just the odd cacher. Log was saturated but we were able to write it in it. TFTC Rangi

With two caches on this track now, there was enough incentive to make us stop and go for a walk. A nice quick find at GZ TFTC
A break in the weather had me looking to get out of the house, so I headed here after an errand in Brooklyn. Superb walk with the worst of the path invading growth having been trimmed up not too long ago. Took the left branch to cache then carried on around the loop where the track wasn't quite as clear.
Much fun thanks very much!
Much fun thanks very much!
Headed over the Sandy Bay hill to Marahau intent on collecting the couple of caches on the hill on the way over. This was our first and a good stroll to warm up the muscles for the Able Tasman track section we were doing today. Never realised this track was here and going by the overgrowth in some places it doesn't get used much - probably only by geocachers.
Been here before, but not caching. a beautiful walk on a Sunday afternoon the mistletoe was out in full bloom a lovely sight, the Robins and Fantails followed us along the track , not many people walk this but it is well worthwhile on a nice day. Will give it a favourite as it is a nice spot. Picked up Boomerang bug from here too. TFTC.
Great excuse for a wee explore. Track and cache need a bit of maintenance but still worth the effort.

Appreciated the parking co-ordinates else we would never have found our way here. An interesting track which seems rather neglected these days. With the lack of signage, I suspect just locals and a few geocachers are the only visitors this track gets.
I had forgotten to turn on my GPSr before we parked, so it struggled to get reception for the whole walk to GZ. It was only after we found the cache (thanks to the hint and StreetWalker's GPSr) that it finally found some satellites. A bit late now! Wonder when the picnic table was last used - I don't think I'd like to sit on it.
Thanks for showing me this walk through some lovely bush.

#8659. Some trees had fallen across the bridge, which required a bit of stooping to get underneath. Apart from that the track was OK, if a bit run down. GZ was a nice spot, and Troodles spotted the cache after a short search. TFTC.
Great little adventure, master macdup enjoyed the bush bashing. A bit wet for a picnic today though. Tftc
Have driven past many times but never taken the walk. Black and Chocolate loved, I got soaked thanks to the overgrowth but a great piece of bush...well worth it. Cache is quite damp, book is stil ok to sign but not the best....I think it's growing mould?TFTC and prod to check this pace out.
A pleasant walk and a quick find on a day trip in the region before heading over the hill to Takaka. Signed log, TFTC
Great walk with kids on a very wet day. So pleased I know about this cool track now.
[green] Down here from Palmerston North to visit one of my dads for Christmas. Bit of a family gathering actually. Went around to my Dad's place and borrowed his bike to cycle the Kaiteriteri loop.
For some reason I missed the parking coords in the description, and there was no parking waypoint which would have made it nice and simple, so I missed the parking space. I guessed where it was, but didn't want to cycle back down to only have to cycle back up again. So I dumped the bike, walked down the road a spell, then straight line bush bashed to the cache. Steep drop off off the road! And some big boulders too. Crossed the stream, signed the log and bush bashed back. Maybe I should have waypointed where I entered the bush as the first attempt back, I was just 8m from the road and blocked off by gorse and blackberry. dropped down a few meters, across and back up worked fine.
A nice break from cycling up this darned hill! Thanks!

This is one of those caches that I have driven past and never "had the time" to go and find. Finally today was the day. Enjoyed the walk. Track in good condition. Holymu has done a fine job at drying it out and giving it a new bag. Did some more drying today as I read the logs. Nice to find an old cache where the finders would write a one page log. Those were the days Worth a favourite for the enjoyable bush walk "in the middle of nowhere".

What a hidden gem this track is. We finished the loop after finding the cache then continued on to Marahau. Log book was wet though and we left a new snaplock bag since the other one had a hole in it. TFTC.
I'm not sure if a small sign here would be detrimental to the quality of this walk. Driving past the start of this walk both in pursuit of work and pleasure for years its existance has eluded me. TFTC
After heavy rain it was nice to get out and exercise the kids and enjoy the lovely bush here. A zillion wasps around but a great time was had. TFTC
I enjoyed the walk from the car park to this cache; several trees have been named for walkers' info and the track was very quiet - not one muggle spotted. At GZ the cache was a quick find - the log, plastic bag and container are rather damp however. Unfortunately we didn't have our repair kit with us. Thanks for bringing us to this walk. TFTC

A lovely day for a walk along this track. In some ways it's a pity the track is not sign-posted but it does mean it is a very quiet and peaceful place. Spotted a beautiful rata along the way; the ground a veritable carpet of crimson petals. Thanks for placing this cache and bringing the track to our attention.
Great spot! Did this my girlfriend who is born and motueka and I have been here for 12 years and both us never knew this walk existed! TFTC!!
Thanks for the Cache.

Nice track. No snow now, but track slippery in parts. Have never seen such giant fern leaves! Put the log book in a zip-lock bag as there wasn't one and it's damp. Left a pen. TFTC.
Watch out for the Bushman's lawyer and gorse. Lots of it hanging across the track in the snow. TFTC
Nice walk, haven't been there since the track was first opened.
Good as my first go at this.Log still wet.Cheers

First finder in a few months. Was a great track to do so close to home that i had never had any knowledge of it being there. Thanks heaps for the cache i really enjoyed it. Cache log was a little bit wet but still managed to sign it =)
Nice quick and easy find. Good walkway to cache location. Log needs replacing. TFTC
passed this picnic table so many times not knowing there was a cache there thought of placing a cache here but good old Rangi bet me to it.you need to replace you're log book. Cheers Adog2
Finally Andre and I got round to finding this cache. A very nice walk. Did my best to dry the cache contents and down to logbook and pen now. Cheers for the new walk for us.
I planned to do this cache ages ago, and now after several months we finally found it. Lovely track, TFTC
I'd tried unsuccessfully to find the way to this once before and thought I was going to repeat that today but found easily and had a really nice walk to the cache. Contents are a bit damp. TFTC #1687
After going after a few of the new caches in the area that were released today, I returned to my family responsibilities and got Lil' Stu and Monaghan cousins out and about for a spot of bush walking (oh and caching too). I've been meaning to get round to this one for ages and today was the day. The kids enjoyed a run round the track too. Unfortunately the log and cache contents are rather damp but I managed to find a dryish spot to sign. Might need a check and a dry out though. TFTC, Biggles.
Have passed this spot many a time and not bothered to stop!! Well what a wonderful native bush walk. Many thanks for providing the incentive to finally explore this track. TFTC
Thanks for pointing me to this lovely little track. The track is a little overgrown and very peaceful. Reception at the cache site is a little poor and my position was a few metres off -- without the hints it took me a while to find the cache.
The cache and log were very wet (the box has a leak) and regrettably I didn't have anything to replace it with. Dried the contents as well as I could.

The track is not to bad but the log is wet, its good to get another one done thats not to far from home .
Enjoyed the walk we did the loop, quick find although the cache/log book was damp, managed to sign the book. TFTC
stopped on the hill. made own track down through d fir then found out theres a heap of blackberry. got there in the end. think i will keep to the track in future. tftc
A pleasant walk through the valley with geodog Harry. Quite overgrown as others have mentioned - plenty of gorse to avoid. Added a pathtag. NINO, TFTC
Visiting from Christchurch, holidaying at Mapua.
Driven over this road several times, didn't know there was a walkway here ! Enjoyable walk, a little overgrown, good views.
Cache easily found TNLN.
Thanks for showing us this walkway - it's not in the brochures and not well signposted ( sign is broken ) Not a muggle to be seen around here !

I've found your cache!
Recently I had a bit of spare time in the upper end of the South Island and I managed to find a large number of geocaches. Unfortunatly due to an unexpected trip to Australia for family reasons I was called away from my Nelson adventures.... Now three weeks on I'm having to sit back and log the piles of caches that I did manage to find while I was down there. As there were a large number of caches, I've decided to throw in a generic log for all but a few of them.
Being a North Islander I was surprised at the sheer number of (glow in the dark) polar bears living in the upper South Island - I really didn't think it was that cold down there. And if I had of cottoned on eariler I could have traded for pretty much an entire chess set, one peice at a time. As it was I tended not to trade geo-junk but I did move a small number of geocoins around.
Of the caches I found I could not possibly choose a favorite but there are certainly both some challenging and very rewarding caches in the area. The best caches tend to be the ones where the owner has put in a bit of extra effort or extra thought into the challlenge and design of the cache, thanks to all those who did. I was also very surprised to see that there are a large number of caches placed in and around graveyards - I've never visiited so many in shuch a short space of time. I was pleased to see some new ideas around as well.
Warmest Regards,
Bobo.

This would be the picnic spot from hell - dark, damp & buggy! The bush loop could use some gorse trimming, but it is a nice walk otherwise. Sporadic satellite signals added to the challenge! Left rare, historic NZ coin, took nothing. TFTC!
Knew this place from pre-caching days, yet it's taken a long time to knock it off our list - today was the day. Pitty the gorse is fighting back along the track, but it wasn't much trouble. Mrs spotted the likely hiding spot instantly and sent in Jr B to see if she was right. Yes she was. Mrs B on a high and all thoroughly enjoyed the walk. TFTC!
Mr Explorer went caching with Q Moto in Motueka today, first time they have teamed up for some finds. Managed to find 24 in 4 hours with only 1 DNF (21 for QMoto and 18 for us).
This one had us both puffing as we made our way up the Valley, beautiful bush walk and a quick find at gz. Reception was a bit patchy on the way but was ok at and near the gz. TFTC.

SUPER TRACK!!! this is truly a great one. We had lots of fun, crossing the river, path was hardly there (needs more geocachers ), everything was a bit wet, smell was great, huge tree... Thanks!
Lovely walk, shame about the over growth. Nice little secluded cache site. TFTC TSLS
Early morning ride and a nice walk through the bush.
Almost missed the location....
