Search limited by prickly plants and shortswill have to come back in full length pants!
Came on a walk with angelic_kiwi. It was amazing watching the clouds zoom around the promontory below us. As she was signing the log, I dug around a bit trying to get the squashed plastic bottle out - I wondered if it was the pre-2016 cache as I could see some paper inside and it was a bit melty around the edges, I never thought it would be pre-quake! That explains why it's so firmly lodged in there. Amazing that the current cache is unscathed after the fires went right through here.
A fun afternoon walk with Maus1. So beautiful up here, we got a day with lovely weather to enjoy the scenery. I was so impressed this cache survived the fire perfectly, I was expected we might be looking for a wad of melted plastic when we were getting close but it wasn't even a tiny bit melted even though a piece of grass very near it was burnt! Thanks so much for the cache in this lovely spot.
Incredible view from here. Walked up from the quarry earlier in the day where I stamped my letterboxing book. Had lunch at the top and took in the awesome sight on this sunny day. Quick find as the hiding stone seemed to face disappeared, but the cache was still there, replaced the stone so its well hidden again. Tftc!
Great memories of walks in this area. Love the views too. Found after trying a few spots.

Somebody has had a good time getting high on Ada's Air. Found a bunch of empty drink bottles and, I'm not even sure what they are - those wee silvery canisters of some gas.
Cleared the rubbish, got worried that the cache might have beenuggled but found it in the end. Tucked away safe and sound, guarded by the ferns.
Until the next big quake squashes the cache?

A Day walk up from Governors bay followed by a pie and beer in Lyttelton. Windy beyond belief on the tops - still a great walk and a good find.
Found! Great walk up from Kennedy's Bush Road and a fantastic view too! Very well hidden.
Have been meaning to get this one for ages so today is a good day to burn off our Xmas dinner - TFTC
Found with Troodles and streetwalkernz. Great views, particularly of the people on the crest of the hill.

Found with StreetWalkerNZ and KiwiChris on a lovely late winters day.
We could see people up at the top as we approached (from the road) but they son left and we passed them coming down as we were heading uphill. SW had found this cache nearly 12 years ago, so even though he found the cache, he didn't need to sign the log book. Good views from here. TFTC

Had a quick look in the freezing wind. Not Mich of view with the cloud coming over the hill. Good walk all the same
Love all these caches up in the Port Hills - they are very inspiring when you feel like some fresh air and a good walk! This is another great one, TFTC
Tricky little hide but found with some good GPS. TFTC - glorious day up here on Labour day.

Preferably needed to find at least 4 caches today if I want to one day reach my goal of filling in the calendar 4 times over - so met up with mum, and we came for a drive to find the ones out this way - a great day for a walk! Plus, the toddler loves walks, and the hills is pretty much the only spot where we both have unfound caches close-ish to each other! And we ended up with 6 finds total too! Woohoo!
I was pretty shattered carrying a 13kg toddler on my back by this point! So the climb felt quite tough! But we got there in the end! And the walk down was a breeze!
TFTC!!

The four of us went out for an afternoon of caching. Took a moment to find but we got there in the end. Great views.
This is a third area visit for me. Today we were lucky! Out with Coconuts3 and Lytteltonwitch, and AT LAST a find. YAY! so glad to get this one. Wonderful views and the perfect day for climbing up here, not wet, not hot , not perishing cold, just right. You just need the right track! TFTC
A beautiful afternoon to explore with busy paws and lyttelton witch. They had chosen this cache so off we went. What stunning views from up here, just gorgeous for as far as the eye can see. So worth it plus we get a smile. Thanks for the trouble you went too placing a cache here Grandalf.
Not much of a view on this windy low clouded day, still a magical spot though! Easy find. Tftc
Looks like a long way down to my car. Nice walk and lovely view. Thanks for placing a cache here. #3880
Found with Joolay and Smittengranny on our roadtrip Queenstown-Dunedin-Hokitika-Christchurch. Lovely walk up and beaut views ! TFTC
Bigger hike than expected. Found with Kittykatch and Smittengranny on a caching holiday to NZ. Been an amazing trip . Today we are running around Christchurch. Lots of fun happening and fabulous views. TFTC
Kittykatch Joolay and I are on our second last day in New Zealand. There are a couple of caches in the area so we grabbed just 2. Great views up here. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us to enjoy.
Breathtaking views! Thanks for bringing us here. The very strong winds today made scrambling around in the rocks to get this one quite a challenge. Many false starts until we found the cache exactly where the hint says it is. TFTC
I decided that a sizeable walk was needed to ease the shock of being back at work and standing behind a desk staring at a computer most of the day at present. Thus I packed shorts and boots and a pack for the afternoon, and headed in the direction of some hilly features to make the most of the long daylight. I had a great 5 hour ramble around without seeing anyone for the first three! Great times and great views from up here, but getting a bit chilly. TFTC!!
Great views from here. Easy find, I just wondered there are two logbooks in cache, the other looks like not belonging to this one. TFTC.
Scrambled about for a while but found the cache in the end. Amazing views from up here. TFTC.
Thought we'd be unlucky with this one as not been found for a while but success came after a short search and clamber. Beautiful place. TFTC!
Fast find and a wonderful view, but why do you have to climb over a fence to reach the Cache? [8)]

We decided that this winter we have to tackle some of the older caches in the area, so the forecast was good for the morning and we were on our way. Great views to Pegasus Bay, but we did not like the view to the South. Yes, there is a front coming and it will soon be pretty wet. So we did not stay too long, but this is a great spot for a 360 degree view. Thanks for placing and maintaining.
Great 360 degree views. Area slowly recovering. Helped by volunteers below us planting natives
A maintenance check after the big fires on the Port Hills. This cache survived the fires and is waiting for visitors. With all the grass and scrub burnt off, it is easier to get to than before.
Did not find the track up to this one but fought our way through gorse and tussocks. Stunning 360 views of canterbury. Thanks for the cache
Found with the assistance of Pipes-Down-Under on my last day in NZ. Great views of Christchurch. TFTC
Was following the GPS and it was showing I were getting further away from GZ. had I taken the wrong track??
? Decided to go cross country and after a lot of blood and swearing got to GZ and found the cache quickly. decided to take the track back down and found that if I had gone about another 50 metres along the track it would have been right. Bugger. TFTC.

Wow fantastic views, started at the Quarry today and came up to this great spot. TFTC now the return trip down hill.
Awesome Cache! Had lunch here, and didn't realize the cache was right beneath me.
TFTC!

This place is staggeringly beautiful today, and what a view above the cloud looking over the Southern Alps and down to the harbour below. Town totally fogged out below

A nice walk in, especially thanks to my new gaiters. I didn't have to worry about grass making my legs itch. The view was slightly clouded by the southerly blowing in. But the Aha moment was great as it required a little scrambling. This was my 900th find.
After walking up Kennedys Bush Track on a beautiful evening we found the cache hoping to also find the track able that was logged in the inventory to find it was not there! [:-(] Hopefully it hasn't fallen down behind the rocks. It was so pleasant up there overlooking Governors Bay & listening to the abundant bird song we decided to have our picnic tea we had brought up with us. After an hour we headed back down the track to search for some caches before it got dark.
Passing through from another Grandalf cache and decided to go for this one. Tried the direct route and eventually made my way onto the path. Arrived to find the top covered in clouds and a lot colder than when I started up a few minutes before. Cache was found, signed and replaced and I was scurrying back down. Cheers Grandalf for the cache!
Had I go for this cache a month ago while I was in the area. Should have read the description more carefully as I approached for the East (it was the closest!) With the light fading and a sleep climb ahead decided to try another day. Today was the day after finding an access point the cache was quickly found with the very precise hint. The view from the top was certainly worth the walk!. TFTC
What a great spot. Remember to bring your camera.

Ugh! Went up the west trail first but decided it must be the wrong way so turned around (as I later found out, just 190 metres from the trailhead turning inwards to the summit) and went back and then down the east trail (Ellas) all the way round and then found the trail in. Once again, OpenStreetMap instead of Topo map would have saved me a lot of time. TFTC!
Out for a walk up the hill with Alfie the Dog. Had searched for this one a couple of times, years ago (pre quakes) and had no luck. Thanks to the new hints it was an easy find and not at all where I had been looking in the past.
Took TB Cerberos and will relocate him to somewhere lower down the hill. Fabulous day on the hills. See pic.

Just dropped in on this fine evening to once again admire the incredible view from this point and drop off a friend from Thailand.
Another Grandalf pearler. Ended up doing a bit of bush bashing and collecting a few scratches as I left my gaiters at home (silly boy). Had a lovely time at the top the views were fabulous and it was windy. Found cache and signed the new replacement log. Thanks for the adventure and cache.

Disabling temporarily until I can place a new cachebox - I went to check, and the cache has definitely vanished. Aren't hoonish muggles annoying!!
3m west... check, gorse... check, rocks... check. Cache... nope!
I'm probably not looking in the right place but I've had a good search around without success so I'm off for another one.

Its a long way down on the East side. What a great view even with the wind blowing. TFTC
Had to get out and about for a walk. Cold gusty southerly with clouds whipping over the tops.....quick find. An excellent spot with a view I'm sure but I was in the clouds! Nice one. Thanks for placing the cache.
Lovely day to be out in the hills, some bits of snow still there. Most of the tracks are closed but we were lucky to find one that follows the road and then up. TFTC, easy find, stunning view.
A glorious day to be on the Summit Road. I'd hate to be around with the boulders bouncing!
Thanks for the walk to this great spot.
Thanks for the walk to this great spot.
Removed old cache bits from under huge summit boulder (I originally thought it was bedrock!!). Cache is now between the boulder and gorse bushes, west of the highest point. DO NOT GO UNDER THE BOULDER.
The latest log is quite right - the rock has moved. The 20-ton boulder about 6m across that forms the whole top of Mt Ada has moved 10-20cm across and down, and has crushed the cachebox. Great work by the latest cache visitors to actually extract the logbook. I visited the site a few days ago, and was planning on placing a new cache a metre or so away - beside but not under this huge boulder. Maybe it looks stable enough right now, but you wouldn't want to be reaching under the boulder during a large aftershock. I'll place the new box as soon as possible, and leave the crushed box as a memorial.
Not a pretty sight. We found the cache, yes, but boy is it munted! Looks like the rock shifted. Somehow we were able to reach in and pull out the log book and logged the find. We replaced the book and other contents we pulled out next to the damaged container.
Read Mporokosa's log for details. I pulled as hard as I could but the container remained truly squashed. The lid had squirted off and some contents spilled but with care the rest were regained and placed in the zip-lock bag next to the lid and slightly disguised by 2 small rocks. TFTC
Nope looked everywhere. I wonder if its still there, hasnt been seen for 6 months!
Seems I was the second visitor for the day. Great view from here. The only cache I did today, got out of the car at the next spot and decided it was too cold and windy. I must be getting soft(er). TFTC.
Hoped it wasn't in the gorse and wasn't. Watched a second cacher (gps in hand) approach from nearby cache GCRNBG, must have been BK&J ? TFTC.
Took a few minutes to find without the hint but succeeded.
Took glass paper weight and left die.
Great view from cache site.

Easy find. Great view. Found with Amy, a Canadian visitor to Christchurch, on a tour of the hills to see the sights and introduce her to Geocaching! Liked Canadian coin in cache! - NZ penny + Indonesian SIM card. The plan is to return the penny as a TB started in USA. TFTC
What a lovely cache! The hint made it pretty easy to find. 'Twas a beautiful sunny but very chilly afternoon! I swapped an old NZ penny for an Indonesian sim card, and plan to make it into a travel bug, started from the San Francisco Bay Area, and send it on a mission back to Ada's Air. TFTC!
It took attemps from three different tracks to finally get to the top. Wicked views!
Womble T went for this one on his own,as we had our Geodoggie in tow and as we had been traipsing around the hills today, she was quite worn out.He found it quite easily and disscoverd he was the first to find it this year. The second one today so thanks for the cach and getting us up in the hills for a good workout .
A lovely spot Mrs T and I have visited in the dark whilst cavorting on the hille (Rogaining). Thanks Grandalf.
