Loved the hike. We did the two waterholes. Loved seeing the cave. TFTC

We decided on this walk today and headed up to both the pools. They both had some water in them. A great walk with some great cliff faces and caves.
It was interesting peering into the cave.
We took awhile to find this one as having read the description we were searching further up and around. Then read the notes and said it should be right there. And sure enough there it was, staring right at us.
Thanks for the cache

Great hide

Cool cave

18-Sep-22
found it very near the entrance. What a great cache. There is no way we would have done this awesome hike without the inspiration of a geo cache to find. The walk along the creek bed and surrounding gorges was awesome.

18-Sep-22
To add the cache is above the entrance to the cave itself

After camping the night in Parachilna Gorge we were heading to do the Blinman Pool walk. It was a pleasant day for a walk, with no else around we had the valley to ourselves. Saw the local goats, wallabies and Euros as well as plenty of birds.
I was quite surprised by the entrance to the cave with its little stalactites and columns.
Cache was found then off to the pools, a bit disappointed with the lack of water at the falls as I would have thought that the rains would have them flowing more

Yay - headed to the pools of course and not optimistic about finding the cache as I could not see the pic offline but the co-ordinates were pretty good and I figured it would be above the waterline! Then there is the ‘hole’ into which I poked my head. Guess I could have wriggled in but decided a photo of the surprise feature would suffice. Another surprise is the 18+ months of UNLOVE - the last signature being October 2020. Day 10 in SA after numerous trips were sabotaged due to you know what and its a fab day. The Ikera- Flinders Ranges and it’s caches are high on the list along with several other random caches so hoping to tick all boxes before heading back to home base. I’ve learnt theRE are plenty of quality SA caches - plenty to pique the curiosity and anticipation of another surprise or fun cache. TFTC AND THE FUN and the effort to contribute to this fave game. Fave for the inner cave delights

A long weekend away with sir_spectre in the Flinders Ranges. We had each been here before and strangely had few double ups so some revisiting was in order to try to get our maps similar. The weather threw everything at us but we just made our plans suit the conditions. Lots of 4WD and walks included.
Thanks to Frozen Feet from mogni Smile

05-Oct-20
I came to the Flinders Rangers with the aim to do this walk since i just ran out of time on my last visit. I have walk down stream from the trail head before for a 1 hour return walk but i haven't headed in this direction. I was joined in the walk by mogni. Even after walking past this point and getting to blinman pools i think in it's current condition this is a nicer stop than the pools. There is no flowing water in the creek currently, just a series of pools where the creek should be running. This cache took longer than it should have to find since it isn't where the hint says it is, it's about 4 meters lower than the hint. fav point for the location.
Took Mogni for a trip to the Flinders Rangers for the long weekend with extra day either side. The target for the trip was to clear some of the " used to be a church " micro series on the way up and on the back as well, complete a couple of station tracks plus hike to Blinman Pools. We where not expecting a couple of 34 degree days then a 30 km wind dust storm followed by rain over night and then the wilpenda pound walls covered in fog for the next 1/2 a day. It did change our plans a little and the order we did things. All containers we found damaged, broken, cracked were replaced and were possible ( if not soaked ) original log books were kept. Any log books found full were replaced or if room had extra scrolls added in to the cache.

Our second cache on a big walk Smile.
Well, who would have known this was here [?]. That's just amazing Cool!
TNLNSL.
Kept on walking to the first pool (which was brown and murky from the recent flood) Razz and we were pretty knackered by the time we got back to the car [|)].
Thanks Frozen Feet. Now time for a late lunch [^].

06-Oct-19
We were camping right on the Blinman Creek (Horseyards Campground belonging to Alpana Station) so we could begin our walk right from our campsite. Had all intentions of completing the walk to the end, but after arriving at the First Pool and finding it pretty well completely dry, we decided not to continue to the Second Pool, even though it was only another 1km each way. Despite the very dry conditions, there were plenty of small stretches of water right along the walk - at the moment it would only be worth walking a bit further on from this cache. Even saw yabbies in one of the small pools. Water was running in some spots, we were glad of that as we had to replenish our water bottles on the way back.
What an excellent cache - who would know what's in that little cave? Only geocachers .
Please note, the cache is not where indicated in the description, it is located right where the co-ordinates will take you.
Excellent cache, fav point. Thanks

19-Aug-19
Found while we toured a circuit of the Flinders Ranges, Marree, Roxby Downs, Woomera and Port Augusta for the week, mostly touring the backroads and visiting many scenic and interesting locations. Really enjoyed the scenic beauty of the valley as we walked in to the cache. Didn't find it at first but discovered the nearby miniature underworld feature, widened our search in response to a previous log, then narrowed it back down to make the find! Should have trusted the accuracy and technology in the first place!!! Thanks for the cache Frozen Feet.

20-Apr-19
found it TFTC. Gps had us about 9mtr to the right of it. Found in good condition. BRILLIANT features remember dont touch them and take photos only

08-Oct-17
Amazing what can be found with the help of a little geocache. I wonder what other hidden gems are around. TFTC

02-Oct-17
Continued onto this one from the last.
A throughly enjoyable walk with the geokids not whinging once... Smile In fact it was their idea to go to the 1st pools, as we had driven to the 2nd pools yesterday, and they were awesome, even if somewhat at low tide due to lack of winter rains.
This land actually belongs to the Alpana Station, but allows access through the local tourist group. The owner knows about geocaching and is more than happy to have the cache there and is even thinking of placing some EC along there, as she is very knowledgeable of the 800 million year old history of her property.
Alas the 1st pools today were not flowing much, nor very full.
A nice hide and one of the geokids spotted the hide and the stalagmites nearby...
Awesome spot with the geokid's animal count as follows... roos, wallabies, emus, willy wagtails, sulphur crests, goats, frillneck lizards, geckos, a sheep, and numerous other birds and rustlings in dry leaves...
Definitely a place to return to after rains...
All up about 2.5 hrs of fun and adventure...

10-Jul-17
This was the weekend of the "unloved road trip". A series of caches with various amounts of unloved were on the hit list. All of them were in the areas near Parachilna and Hawker and in between. Freddo and Malco! were in the Pahero while Brad, B2, and Cache_or_Check (aka FunkyGibbon) were in the ReverseTardis. Sadly janet had stayed home along with Ruff_Ruff, but B2 (like her brother J2) is a well qualified albeit only occasional member of the Brad&Janet team

Day 3 commenced with a very early start. It was only just not dark and it was still seriously cold. The night before I had spoken to B2 about coming on this walk. She had explained that while "Evening B2" was keen, she suspected "Morning B2" may be hard to evict from the warm bed. And so it proved to be.

SO it was just the four of us who headed down the creek. It was a bit cool. We meandered along the creek bed, sometimes on one side, sometimes on the other. And eventually we got to GZ where a cache was quickly located. Signing and stamping done it was time to head back. Sadly not enough time on our itinerary to get to the end this time.

Angorichina Adventure.

Brad&Janet , B2, *Cache or Check* and yours truly were conscripted by Freddo to further his ambitious plans… Plans to travel by 4WD into the heart of the copper country around Blinman, picking up targets of opportunity along the way, and to reset the clock on many lonely and unloved caches. The carrot for this journey was three days in the Flinders Ranges; good company; wine & beer, a few BBQ’d steaks & burgers, chilli/tuna & chipotle wraps; viewing sites from tracks and hills in the footsteps of Hans Heysen and to relax and get away from it all. Top it off with a Road Kill Grill at the Prairie Hotel, Parachilna and you have a great weekend. The weather, usually a negative component in these getaways, was perfect: clear nights, frosty sub-zero mornings and deep blue sunny skies. The moon, gloriously full, greeted us as it rose above the range each night, and farewelled itself as it dipped out of sight each morning. The rating for this mission: 10/10.

After a fabulous meal last night at the Prairie Hotel, Parachilna involving some part of the coat of arms, we rose to a freezing cold morning just in time to see the moon setting. Brad sauntered over from his cabin, leaving B2 to rest for a few more hours and the four of us starting out along the Blinman Creek. The sun was just starting to fire up the high points along the gully giving everything an orange glow. Freddo had frozen hands and tried to buy my gloves but wouldn’t accept my price. A few creek crossing were needed as the trail criss-crossed along. Goats looked down from their lofty vantage points. These animals are fearless.

After around 40 minutes we arrived at GZ and CoC quickly located the hide. Signed by all and replaced. I managed to photograph the gorge wall reflecting off the pools before the rock skipping contest began.

The walk back was just as pleasant, with a couple of kangaroos + baby, greeting us near the Tourist Village.

Wonderful walk. Thanks for the cache, Frozen Feet

This is the story of the Flinders Ranges trip of 4 men and a muggle, looking for ‘unlove’.
Freddo, Malco!, Brad (minus Janet but with B2) and myself spent 3 days in a 4WD exploring the remote sections of the Flinders Ranges in search of caches that had not been found for 6 months or more.

Day 3 and we gave ourselves some time to stretch the legs before commencing the long journey back. We all got up bright and early and it was still -2 C when we walked down the steps next to our cabin and into the pools area. Forty minutes later and the sun had risen over the surrounding cliffs and we found ourselves at GZ. Despite the lack of rain there was still plenty of water and there was even a little cascade on the side. I would have loved to have continued to the end of the walk but with still 13 years of unlove to find we needed to get back to our cars.

Thanks Frozen Feet (pretty apt for our situation) for taking us back here again (I was here last in 1998).

Found on a recent school camp whilst staying at the caravan park. A long walk for the kids but a worthwhile one as we found the cache in good condition and managed a swim in the second pool, albeit freezing cold!! Tftc. Great hike by the way!

15-May-16
found on the Easter long weekend while camping nearby. we decided to go for a walk through the creek bed, didn't even know there was a cache until someone else pointed out that there was a cache just around the corner. its always a great surprise to find a cache in an unexpected place. TFTC

Found after a hot walk with the kids - we should have started earlier! Nice spot just past the cache.

25-Sep-15
Camped at Angorichina and walked the Blinman Holes trail. Great scenery and this gem hidden away that I would never have seen but for this geocache. So thanks for adding to the magical experience of this walk. TFTC Frozen Feet.

07-Aug-15
This cache has turned out to be one of the highlights of our flinders trip. Having stayed at Parachilna Gorge the night before, we packed up and came to Angorichina village for some petrol and this walk.

Once on the walk we quickly lost the trail (think we saw two sign posts on our entire walk to the cache). This wasn't a problem though as we had a gps and planned to follow the creek. So, a bit more than an hour passed and we reached GZ. The little cave (which was awesome) was sitting beside a pretty pool of water and the cache was in pretty much the only place it could be.

Thank you for leading us to this great cache with such beautiful views! TFTC Frozen Feet!

10-Jun-15
Enjoyed the walk whilst camping at Parachilna Gorge, weroamin had to help me grab the cache as I am not good at acting like all the other goats in this magnificent gorge. Had a picnic before returning back to the start and pondering the existence of those early pioneers who had lived in the dugouts. Thanks for bringing me here and thanks for the cache. A fav point from me.

24-Apr-15
During our trip through Flinders Ranges we visited the mine first and went for this walk afterwards. As it was really dry there was not so much to see but at least we found the cache that took us a while. Greetings from Germany.

Camped at Angorichina and had just enough daylight left to enjoy a great walk up the river to the cache and back. Memorable experience and specially impressed that the cave had little stalactites. No way was I going further into that cave. Couldn't imagine being anywhere near flexible enough if a quick exit was called on. Great cache. Thank you Frozen Feet

Wow! WhAt a great little cave & cache. Our favourite find so far. TFTC!

Great spot. Glad it wasn't in the cave cos its a little squeezy. TFTC Smile

29-Mar-13
Great walk that we have been wanting to do for a couple of years. Finally got the chance today. Found cave quite easily and it is certainly amazing to see these formations all the way out here. Sent geoson up the cliff to collect cache which he retrieved without any trouble. Took TB to move on.

03-Oct-12
A little confusion led to a search of many caves, upstream, up cliffs, but returned to quite near the original gz lock and sure enough it was hiding laughing at us Smile Help of geoson Sebastian was invaluable!
A nice walk with Dee, Sarah and Sebastian - and we even found running water. This amazing little cave is totally different from all the others nearby, and seems like it's been stolen from Naracoorte, shrunk, and hidden in the awesome Flinders. Thanks Team Wibble, well worth the walk Smile
(didn't find the tb though Sad )

24-Sep-12
Very pretty, and a longer walk. Got all the way the the 1st pool. Decided not to clamber up for the second. No water at the waterfall today. Cache location is interesting, maybe a little bizzare about this cave. It really is out of place here in the Flinders - as it's a long way from the South East where they are usually found! Thanks for bringing us to the beautiful destination. TFTC

10-Jul-12
The Parachilna Gorge is one of our favourite camping spots although we had never walked to the pools before. This was our first time back since starting caching and after reading about this cache we had to give it a go. It finished up being one of our favourites for our Flinders holiday. We went prepared with torches etc but none of us were going to go into that cave!

Thanks for bringing us here Wibbles. An enjoyable walk but if not for caching we may never have even seen the cave let alone what was inside.

05-May-12
Took a walk once the rogainers had left.
Not on top of a hill, not 24 hours worth...much better option.
Back to cook 1000 sausages!!
Thanks Wibbles

05-May-12
The et al and I were in the vicinity for a rogaine this weekend. While they were out covering vast distances, I trudged up the creek searching for the Trails SA path most of the way without success. Awesome scenery in this part of the world. Left egg took frog. TFTC

Found it on a short walk with mum. Not sure about barramundi's log re. 30m cave and cavern that you can stand up in? The small hole I found was only ~4m deep and 1m high. Thanks for showing us the formations though as otherwise we would never have known they were there.

01-Oct-11
Found on the first morning of a hike with the AUMC around the area.

Amazing place, I didn't expect to see so much water around, and found it a bit ironic to see so much water here, then drink out of a somewhat gungy puddle the following day.

Great features in the cave, it's rare to see such quality in a free cave in a public area. I didn't venture into the cave, too many years of caving tell me to be careful around such nice features. All in all a fantastic cache and fantastic place.

TNLN
thanks

Awesome location. Took Eiffel Tower, left .308 shell

28-May-11
Went up the creek without a paddle & round the bend and back again, over hill and down dale, crisscrossed the creek until finally we came upon the the tiny cave. Took a peek and as some photos of the inside but didn't want to venture in too far so not to damage any of the fragile features. Found the lonely cache that has not been found for quite some time. Left Eiffel Tower and wandered back to camp marveling in the fact that if not for caching may never have ventured this far up the creek. Thanks for bringing us here Team Wibble

14-Sep-10
On the walk into this cache I was provided with numerous reminders of the power of nature. Only a couple of weeks ago this creek was a raging torrent (4 walkers required rescuing that day). Massive trees had been toppled and washed down stream by the torrent, trees that were still standing had debris piled against them up to 3 metres high and were showing signs of damage even higher.

Today the creek was still running and there were many little waterfalls along the walk.

I found the cave and its well hidden natural features - WOW, lovely, and totally unexpected. Of course I found the cache, and signed the log while there.

Thanks Team Wibble for a great cache.

Most enjoyable walk. Fantastic! But a bit of a strain on the cooks athritic knee. Cave was a bit small for me. Wonder why?

Great spot. I hope further rock slides do not destroy the hide. Great to see some water and yabbies in the pools opposite the hide.

I really enjoyed the walk but have to say I must be a lot bigger than who ever climbed into the small cave, nice cache though

Lovely walk on a clear sunny day. Absolutely recommended - favourite cache of the day
Thanks Wibbles

14-Aug-09
wonderful area, scenic spot. On a sunny day beside a flowing creek. And the cache adds something special, that might otherwise go unnoticed. Thanks to Kenith for the homework.

11-May-09
What a brilliant location. Adjacent to a beautiful gorge with flowing water and a cave to explore. Could see stalagtights at the entrance but wasnt game enough to crawl in to the larger chamber. Maybe next time.....

17-Apr-09
We had camped at the tourist village here on a previous trip to the Flinders BC (before caching) and had even done the walk all the way up to GZ and then went back again without knowing what fantastic little formations were just across the creek.
Would have loved to have done the whole 12 km this trip but so many caches, so little time. Oh well, maybe some other time.
Rescued the aztec GC

Thanks for encouraging us to do this walk. We loved it and will do the whole walk one day when more prepaired.
What a beautiful area.It took us a while to find. Fantastic.

13-Jul-08
Nick and I loved this one, so much so we were so tired we camped at Angorchina after the hike. We walked the whole 12 K's and a bit more.

Nick took his headlamp and crawled into the cave next to the cache, it goes in about 30 metres, and opens into a cavern tall enough for him to stand up. Lots of animal bones too.

The next small cave opening next to the large one turned out to more of a tunnel which took him to another exit further up the hill.

The springs feeding the creek were crystal clear, and a great site to see, but the pools were close to empty.

Thanks for the cache and the big trek.

Cheers from Barra 2&4

24-May-08
Introduced many people to caching - Russ sniffed this one out. Glo frog out, measure tape in. There must be a good spring to feed the pools given the current very dry regime. ZZZZZ to all those Oleanders and Prickly pears that don't belong.

14-Jul-07
We had a few hours free so off we went to cross this off our list. A great walk in and on the way out with lots of roos around us.

Thanks Wibbles

Found by big M at 10:00 with a big group of friends and families (all staying at the Village), introducing them to Geocaching. Most of us finished the hike at the 1st pools where there was plenty of green water to play in! Some went on the the 2nd pools but were disappointed with the lack of water. A great walk and a strange place to see those formations. Thanks Team Wibble. Cheers PFMM

30-Sep-06
Thomas and Freddo headed off for a stroll. Sallymander and the others stayed at the village for lunch.

I had been this way back in 1988. Wonderful walk. Last time we never got this far. This is definitely a waypoint will stay in the GPS. I can only guess what is further around the corner. Loved the cave. Thanks for a great cache Wibbles.
