Hi mac100,

This cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, only to discourage people from visiting this location until this cache may be addressed.

**Please note that caches disabled during the current COVID19 crisis you will be given some extra time to react as we recognise that CO's can't just pop out and fix the issue,** geocache maintenance can wait. Once the acute threat of pandemic is over, I will remind you about your cache needing attention.

Should you feel it safe for you to maintain and address this cache now, AND your regional Health and Governmental authorities allow it, please feel free to do so. However, I would like to assure you I will not be archiving any caches which the cache owner does not currently feel safe to maintain.

I'll pass by in about another 45 days and hopefully this will all be over.

As the CO has not responded this should be archived.
Would not have survived the floods.

19-Apr-19
To get anywhere near the spot you had to go through a no entry area and it couldn't be found. It has probably been washed away or the spot is not marked correctly.

17-Apr-19
Perhaps washed way in recent flooding

01-Dec-18
Picked up a number of little green hitchhikers all wanting a piece of me on the way to the cache. Pays to stay on a well worn track sometimes

TFTC! Geodad's 2nd geocache. We had to do a runner through the scrub and come around a second time. This was cleverly hidden and was hard to spot. TFTC!

I think these three need to be more accessible for public access. Not even tryed as locked gate and no public access penalties apply.

02-Jul-17
TFTC. We are are the Ross Dam for a Motorhome Rally. I have been co-opted to give a talk about Geocaching. I went to find the cache so that at least newcomers can have a find.
Bit worried about the locked gates but it seemed ok.

1000 CACHE FINDS Smile We are over here on holidays from Mount Gambier, SA. We are visiting family here in Townsville, QLD. This afternoon we decided to end down not far from where we are staying to collect a few more caches. We only needed 4 more to make the 1000 finds so we adventured of close by where there was 4 in a circle around a lake which we found out wasn't a lake due to no rain here for awhile. We managed to collect the 3 of 4 as one was disabled. We thought we only need 1 more for 1000 so off we went for a walk to this one. We had come up here last week to find another close by but no luck. Was a short hot walk in & thankful we made a find. Makes that hot hike all worth it even more. And we are now 1000, even better. Disappointed there was no cache in here today. TFTC Smile

26-Sep-15
Out and about caching with Geoson Wolffman05. Geoson made a quick find after a short walk into the GZ.

Log signed. Took and left nothing. The cache container and log were found to be in good condition.

TB44YVD chaosmanor's 2011 "Year of the Rabbit" #2 was not found in the cache.

Finding this cache has now given me a total find count of 1432 .

Thanks for the cache hide mac100. Smile

TFTC but as has been stated, should this be in this area? I disregarded at least one "no authorised entry" and a sideways look from a Sun Water person...

17-May-14
TFTC, is this cache legal to be where it is..

13-May-14
Really cool cache. Traceable token in there. Left it behind so someone that is travelling can give it a big move. Lots of stuff, left a pirate coin.

11-May-14
Good find at a great spot by the dam. Trekked around for a while before making the find. Helped by Grandson.

We've been eying this one off for some time now and we finally bit the bullet and took the long way home to collect it. Once at GZ a quick find was had and we had soon signed the log and started the return leg of our journey.

Want sure if this one was going to be achievable today, with having to walk past a 'No Entry - Penalties Apply' sign.

Once at GZ a quick find.

I couldn't find this geocache, maybe I'll have better luck next time!

20-Nov-13
Second cache for the afternnon but batting 1 find and 1 DNF. Loved this cache as it would be spectacular if there was water coming over the gates. This cache certainly was very wirey to get too after a bit of a scramble up the small incline.

Took nothing but memories left nothing.

Nice quick find Smile TFTC Smile

01-Oct-13
Took the long way around as it said 'no access' everywhere...was so much quicker on the way out...

17-Jul-13
Another beautiful day in Townsville, after yesterday's rain.
We started out today with a drive to the dam, and then picked up a few on the way back.
Sign said - no access, but as no one was looking, in we went.
Cache in hand quickly, and then back to the car.
Thanks for the cache, mac100.

06-Jul-13
Be careful of the thorny bush

29-Jun-13
Watch out for the very spiked bushes they sink into your flesh. Ouch!

29-Jun-13
Sea Reason and Capricorn Dancer found this with some newbies: Leo, jeannie, and John. Jeannie in particular seemed to 'get it'.

Sea Reason took the travel bug, G8Z4ZM. We'll see that he goes somewhere good.

Thanks for the cache.

21-Sep-12
This was our 1st cache in our caching run today - and we found it at around 08:35.
(So this is our 4798th total find.)

A nice quick find, especially after the disappointment of not finding "Those DAM Stairs". Walked right up to the cache and signed the log.
We can't believe some of the logs in the book, such as "Terrain 1.5 - yeah right" or "Nearly Died". It's such a straight forward cache. Smile

Took: Nothing
Left: Piston Keyring
Thanks mac100 for the hunt today.

02-Sep-12
Parked a little away from the locked gate before making the walk into the GZ.
The GPS took us right to the GZ and after a brief search we located the cache. Signed the log. Took nothing and left nothing. Thanks mac100 for the cache in an interesting part of Townsville.

14-Aug-12
A freshly bulldozed track made it a very easy walk in. A pleasant place to look at the spillway. TFTC. Smile

05-Jun-12
Good walking shoes are surely needed on this trek across the boulders and exposed river bed. Easy find in the end. sl tnln tftc

26-May-12
After a disappointing day caching we headed to the dam with only 5pc charge left on the iPhone! Gate still shut but some people were ahead of us and a couple of mountain bike riders went around so we followed! Easy find saw a massive catfish in the pool below just before the downpour from nowhere arrived to drench us completely! Sl took elephant left rhino tftc!

25-May-12
Found this one a whole back and apparently never logged it. Tftc =]

23-May-12
Having had morning tea with an old neighbour up this way I thought I would finish off the day with some caching, however, I failed to grab suitable shoes for serious off road caching and having retired from reaching gz at those "dam stairs" I wasn't going to be beaten here! It's all very well them updating the spill way but the newer version is sure washing away downstream what was a lovely little native, I wonder how long before this cache is also heading down stream.. Easy find, do like these pipe caches think I'll have to instigate some back in the UK.. TFTC LNTN Smile

13-May-12
Just trying to track all the caches I've done with a TB Wink

07-May-12
TFTC mac100. My second cache since arriving in Townsville and in such a great location, I love dam caches. No wading through water just climbing over rocks and through vegetation with loads of insects following me. Once at GZ I quickly put my hand straight on the cache and signed the log. TN. LN.
All in all a great outing and a walk to a beautiful area.

09-Apr-12
Not too sure if I was supposed to be at the cache site but I did find it and my signature is in the log book.
Not going to say how but it is.

Cheers and happy caching.

#132 After picking up Eel in the park, we stopped in here but seen the gates were still shut, so we head off to Dam nice view. While we were there, we got ACME's notification that he had got it.

Back at the scene, we crossed the river a little strange (wet) but once we were across, we noticed the ford. Oops ha ha ha.

Found the cache quickly and took the much easier, and drier route back to the car.

An adventure was had by all. Thanks for the fun.

Not so sure I should be in the area - but on a Saturday, not a soul was around. I quickly made my way to GZ and found the cache safe and sound. It's surprising it has lasted this long - but it certainly has. An interesting area - expecially the dam walls. TFTC mac100 Smile
