Today was a huge day. Up early in Miena to head to Westbury for Parkrun. Then into Launnie for some jobs (chiro, gas, fuel, lunch and shopping). 3 caches in town and then headed back to Miena via Poatina.Miena Pub for tea with log fire was very welcome when we got home. This cache definitely took some hunting down. TFTC
A family trip to Tasmania during the school holidays since I was the only one who had ever been here and that was only 2 days in Hobart. So there will be a bit more exploration this time since we flew to Launceston instead for the start of the trip. Today was the final day of our trip and we made our way back to Launceston via the scenic highlands route. With 5 of us searching this thankfully only took a couple of minutes after flipping a lot of rocks. Thanks Fabulist for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.
Big thanks to robtas for placing this cache! Your effort brought an extra spark of excitement to our geocaching quest. This discovery was find number 1294 for us, marking another awesome moment in our adventures. Living and traveling full-time across Australia in our Toyota Coaster, we're always on the lookout for caches to uncover. Thanks for the cache Fabulist.Today I decided to head home to Hobart from Ulverstone via Waddamanna - so I could find some caches on the Hydro Power Trail. I was keen to stop here and try to avenge a DNF.Still took me a while, and it was literally the last place I checked before I was about to get back in the car - hooray! Glad to turn this one into a smiley.
Merging my accounts. Found this as Hoterini 18/5/13. Now tracking together with Ambers007 and merging the old finds.
Took us a good 10m, it was further out from the structure than it appeared on the map. TFTC
TFTC! After placing a new cache in Poatini on the way back from the Great Lakes we decided to try and find this cache. 10 or so minutes were spent scrounging around the northern rocks but alas, to no avail. Our confusion turned into annoyance and in a desperate effort we widened our search area and Frankies dad made the find. It was definitely more North West not north but thanks anyways!
On the last day of my 3-Day Geocaching Adventure taking in Devonport / Launceston and The Great Lakes [East Side] today i was excited to go to a place i've never been and there's some Golden Oldie hides along this road so i was most eager to get going. The weather was to be mostly fine so i set off about 08:00 on my way back to Hobart Got to GZ of this one in a very fascinating and stunning location in the foothills of the Great Western Tiers, that s Poatina... my 1st time here. These 5 Columns aren't what they used to be but because i met a lovely lady there that filled me in on the fact that they (someone she knows, by memory) is cleaning the spot up tomorrow, it may change for the better. I was told that these colourful columns are made up from Bottle Glass. Wow!... Cool!!I took a few pics and finished up talking with her for well over 10 minutes. Before that lovely encounter i found the cache and signed it's dry log at 08:35 on TGIF 12 April 2024.I'm already amazed with this new (for me) route home and i'm not even in the mountains yet!TFTC Fabulist
We passed here on the way to the east coast. Thanks for the Cache. Grsse aus der Schweiz
Hello Fabulist thank you for the cacheMrsD and I had a look for this cache MANY years ago when I was new at caching.Today I drove past on my way back home so I stopped off and had another look, this time it was a quick find.Found on Saturday, 09 December 2023 at 1430**TFTC**
The cute town of poatina feels like a step back in time! Nice cache to go with it! TFTC!
Returning from Devonport, we decided to go along this road for a change, and avoid the interminable roadworks on the Midland Hwy This was a funny one - caching with my son A_Gull, we both found different containers at exactly the same time! Reading through previous logs we could work out what had happened. A previous finder had mistaken a broken tic-tac container for a damaged cache container, and had replaced that with a new container - which now had a couple of logs in it. I found the actual cache container (Eclipse mint tin) with of course the correct log book in it. So I put the other log sheet into this container as well, and removed the replacement cache. So now there is only one cache at GZ! TFTC
It's taken us a while to get around to finding this cache! Today we decided to head home via the highlands and found ourselves passing by. TFTC!Cheers,The Hancock Clan
What an interesting structure maybe a work in progress, The village is a secret hideaway well maintained thanks to geocaching made this surprisingly interesting visit and thanks for placing this temporary cache for us to keep enjoying
The GPS took a long time to adjust. We managed to get to 1m of the co ordinance. When reading previous logs we went 4 m north and found a blue micro container broke into pieces and no log. We replaced the container and put a new log in signed an Hod into the spot. Not sure if that was the container. The owner can inform us. Great spot and cant wait to see the finished project. TFTC.
Will check on Geocache over the weekend and make sure Im correct location and update details. Thank you to previous person who logged their find for replacing the possible broken cache
We had a couple of nights with the family at Bronte Park to attend an orienteering event nearby. Today we decided to venture to many areas that we haven’t been to before, we love where geocaching can take you, so today was full of surprises.
Thought this was going to take awhile but we were surprised with a find fairly quickly. A pity the columns are broken.

I thought i was going to be a DNF here but again Goose had his eye in and spotted it from a distance , log was a bit wet but signable.
After parkrun I drove to our normal coffee shop and met Goose before we headed North again to explore the highlands again, this week we went to Oatlands then turning Northwest towards Interlaken, we called a few places I had never been to before like Wilburville, Flintstone etc, in the end we made a loop of it and headed to Poatina with a small side quest to Cressy before hitting the highway around Powranna and then heading South again.
Another big day starting at 10and not getting home till 10pm, I found 18 caches and the 4WD covered 524kms.
Thanks for the cache.

Glad to finally turn this dnf into a smiley. It took me three visits and fortunately this time it was quickly located.
A DNF here. Didn't spend a long time here, but spent enough time here. sounds like the cache has suffered a bit of cache creep and is not under the original rock. There were other caches to find so moved on. The structure here has seen better days.
Second attempt. Nearly ready to walk away and low and behold hubby picks up one last rock. You won’t fall in to find it! Tftc
After ages searching, was about to give up then happened across. It.
Coordinates about 4 m out for us.

Foud it. Thanks for cache. A bit more rocks than we thought. Lovely coffee and carrot cake in Poatina.
Never been to Poatina before so stopping here was a good excuse to have a look around.
Loved the fantastic views.
Another quiet out of the way town that was interesting to visit.
Found the cache after a short search.

Been and checked geocache. It’s still in place not many on log so will update log when I return to home.
Another failure to find. But, there was a rainbow & fantastic view.
Nice accommodation and lovely staff.
Nice accommodation and lovely staff.
Had a poke around with no success, being directly under HV power lines may be contributing in throwing the GPS off a bit
Did not find. Coordinates and hint do not correlate. Northern side and where the gps setting shows are quite different places. So many rocks. Gave up this one in a far from attractive site. Though the look put view is lovely.
Couldn't find. The coordinates and hint don't mesh. Gave up. Everything there makes you itch. Messy run down once was.
Searched hard but no joy. The columns have been destroyed. The water in the centre toxic. This whole structure is just a bizarre mishmash of materials. Very strange indeed and definitely worth a look
First find for the day. I was here two days ago but was muggled by a motorcyclist who had stopped for a smoke and then a little later by a family readjusting the load on their ute.
Looked at all the rocks and all the choices so was pleasantly surprised and pleased to find it as quickly as we did
very unexpected Find. logbook is running low I will need to be replaced no pen. TYFTC
Out for a trip to the snow with a good mate who is a muggle. This was his introduction to the craft. GPSr took a while to settle and we eventually needed the hint. Cache container was beyond repair so I replaced it with a new one of similar size. Only one column left now, pity about that. TFTC
Found it Haha I did look under a lot of rocks cache definitely needs replacing
Fascinating little town. This columns artwork is in disrepair unfortunately. Found the cache which is well hidden and dry but the container is on its last legs. TFTC
Down from Brisbane on hols with IolantheK.
Another one of many on our travels through Tassie [^]
Nice easy find, cache is dry but the container really needs replacement [^]
Artwork?? this is quite a weird and unique spot [^]

T-Tech and I are down from Brisbane for a meandering holiday around Tasmania. We flew to Melbourne where we picked up the campervan and spent a day caching there, then took Spirit of Tasmania I to Devonport. Tick that one off the bucket list!
Today we are travelling from Bracknell to Mount Field National Park. We stopped to grab this cache along the way and I was very surprised by what we found. We located the cache then took a drive through the village, and did some online research about it. A strange place indeed. TFTC, robtas.

Lucky the gps is spot on or it could take some finding.
Thanks robtas

Found on the way from Mt. Field NP to Pioneer during my motorcycle holiday on this marvelous island..
This cache was found on our tour along part of the TT from Devonport to New Norfolk.
Lots of backroads were travelled and some great vistas and campsites found along the way.
As Tassie does turn on the weather at times we encountered all 4 seasons in a day on 2 of the days and enjoyed every moment of it.
Thanks to all the CO's for placing the caches we found.
Took a few minutes to uncover this one.

TFTC, it was about six meters away form the actual pin point possibly the granite or magnitude in the rocks.
Made a surprisingly quick find. Structure is looking a little neglected.

Tassie Trip Day 184 - This was a travel day, it saw us take in the views of the Great Lake and the wonderful little places along the way. A nice picnic lunch and some beautiful sight along the way.
Another great spot with great views and the bonus of a cache to find and today this was our last stop for the day and a quick find.
Thanks robtas for this place to stop and cache.

three columns and a murky green pond, the area is in need of some tender loving care. thankfully the cache was quickly located and in good order.. thanks..!!
Nope, didn't have time to stop for at least a difficult 3. No way is this only a difficult 1.5...unless you know where it is.
The wires play with my cord's, but got it this time 3 years since my last game of golf up here. All ok TFTC
