We called in today on our way home from competing in an Event south of Timaru.
Found there is a big fence keeping cars out and it has become overgrown and untidy.
The picnic table is still there and the steel dish that showed what could be seen but now no views as such.
Thanks to all who enjoyed it.

We like the name, there are a lot of places we could call this coming back from Ch Ch. TFTC.
Out for a day's caching today, on a loop from Wakefield, through Tapawera and Dovedale.
Not quite the same PnG this originally was, I'm sure, but still a straightforward find. No-one stopping for lunch at the picnic table today - can't see why!?
Thanks

A plan was hatched to try and grab a number of caches, in excess of 120 if possible. I had already found a load between Renwick and St Arnaud but consulting the map around St Arnaud area showed some semi power trail drive by caching opportunities. Fellow Manawatu cacher the Seagnoid was asked if he was interested and a resounding yes was the answer. So the car was fuelled up at very early o'clock and provisions for munching were also loaded. An 0630 start was the plan and the day came to its conclusion around 2130 after approx. 15 hours of driving and caching.
Outcome was a very successful figure in excess of 130 caches which constitutes best day ever (for both of us), best week, month and year too. Over 500kms driven today and man I feel tired but need to make a start logging the finds, and DNFs. Thanks to all the C Os involved in making our day such a great one. Nearly all caches were well maintained, interesting and accurately plotted. There were bellbirds, beech trees, pies and water, sealed roads, gravel tracks, no sandflies (thankfully), rivers and bridges and creeks and bridges and streams and bridges and much conversation about all things caching
A great day out in good company and all made possible by the efforts of the hiders.
T F T C to all the cache owners. We mostly signed as C/S or Capp/Seag or other combos

[green] Capperz called me up saying he wanted to get his ruby Busy Cacher badge, and try for 120 caches in a day. I said YES PLEASEE!!, as I too had tried this once before but only achieved 103 before night defeated me and Edvern in Auckland last year. A successful day, with over 130 caches found in 14.5 hours and 500km. Also tiring - I went to bed as soon as I got home, despite it not being dark yet (yes, we could have cached some more, but the next objective is 180 caches, and there was no way we would have achieved that!). Alas, I had to leave all the planning to Capperz, and he produced a great little plan, listing all the target caches (and more) with which way to turn at next intersection after a cache - a great way to plan a back road travel.
The day was cool, cloudy, with a little drizzle. Perfect caching weather - the weather kept most of the muggles away from the muggle areas.
Thanks to all the COs for a great day out exploring the back roads of the Marlborough region!
Logs signed as CS or occasionally as CapSeag.
Well, this is disappointing. Looks like a great place for a lookout, even has a stainless steel "here's the view and what all the bits are" sign thingy. But there is a big fence keeping cars and people out (but not intrepid geocachers, there is always a way around a fence) and the broom has grown up so far that there is no view any more. Can we get this restored to its former glory? It would not take much effort at all. Broom was in flower. Noxious pest that it is, its flower are very pretty. Photo.

TFTC. Out to play for the weekend with the destination of Nelson. Caching crew on board were Karma Reprint, Team_Gaters and TheWanglers, logged as PKTT for this trip. Gosh did we have fun looking for caches, most of which we found, in this very beautiful part of our country.
Oh no day 3 of our Nelson cachathon. Today was about tidying up a few loose ends, having a great time and heading for home. Four very excited kids!!
Thanks samy! for placing the cache.

On a big mission up to Nelson over Show Weekend with Purdiepurdie, Karma Reprint and Team_Gaters we signed our cache finds as PKTT the 'power packet' but we called ourselves the 'G4'. We headed off on Friday morning at 4.30am. After a good nights sleep we had a few more puzzles and caches to grab before heading back to Chch. We did have more laughs, and visited some spectacular spots. We ended up driving about 1200kms this weekend. Great fun!
GZ is fenced off and I had to have grabbed a blackberry vine while advoiding the gorse. Doh. Got it in the end. Boy is it getting windy.
Thanks for the cache.

There is a big fence blocking access to the area now, so need to park on the road and squeeze in around the side of it to get to GZ. Had the place to ourselves and so no trouble with the find. TFTC.
#8000. Shame that vehicle access to the lookout has been blocked. For pedestrians there is easy access however. TFTC.
Short stop driving around on my NZ holidays. There was no view today, just the cache. Thanks.
11:22am | Relatively quick find in group of 4 CZE hunters during our trip around South Island. TFTC and greetings from the Czech Rep!
makka pakka 2 went out today to see what he could see. 3 times he went in this road so 3 caches he did get.
Stopped here earlier to find a family sitting at the picnic table having lunch. Didnt even bother to get out of the car and carried onto the next cache. Back here again and it's deserted. Log signed quickly and just driving off when another car of muggles arrived. Good timing. TFTC

Our last cache for the afternoon. I think it's the first time I've been here and found the place deserted, which of course is what we wanted after our first visit here earlier was interrupted by other arrivals. TFTC.
For to long Spooner's has been both to close and to far away for a cache run. When we thought about it and couldn't come up with an excuse this beautiful autumn day was earmarked there and then to remedy the situation. After arriving at the look-out earlier this afternoon there was an unexpected muggle who just didn't want to move [:(!] On the revisit it was just peace and quiet. Just like I remember before the exotic trees and native plantings are now taking away some of the incredible views over Tasman Bay and towards Nelson. How sad to notice how somebody must have used the monument to sight his .308. TFTC

Used to live and work at Tapawera about 30 years ago and used to go over this hill lotsa times. Thanks for getting me to this spot - my first time since the realignment...! TNLN. HOTA
Popped by the look out. Foliage too overgrown for a view, so we were thankful for the cache.
Slight detour on our way to Blenheim looking for caches and some sunshine. Finally we have found both blue sky above while we sign the log TFTC.
01/01/13 09:45 Stopped for b'fast. I'm sure I've found a cache here before (Later - 15/05/2006 actually). Never mind, Team EJ & JC Cache Dawg enjoyed the break. Cheers, GC.
Just one of many we were cherry picking on our route to Nelson then onto Kaiteriteri LGM
I drove south today from Nelson to the Glaciers. It was a very sunny and bright day and I enjoyed the ride very much. I drove through wonderful landscape that could be put on postcards and I visiting many interesting places along the way. This is also due to the caches I have found, this being one of them. Each cache made my journey ever more pleasant! A big thank you to all owners!

I Found this With A Broken foot on a caching Trip With Family - me, Gracie7 + mum and dad, we did 101 Caches over the Easter weekend. Gracie7 has given me a list of every cache I have done with her that i have not logged, TFTC A special thanks to Gracie7 + Mum for the Log List, I Had Tink from the start but she was not a traceable back then
Found on Easter Monday with furpurse, Mum & Dad. #17/24 finds for the day. Easy find with no-one around but us. Also took the opportunity to practice CITO and dropped it off at out Holiday Park in Tuhuna Beach. TFTC
Sure is a popular spot. Managed to park close to GZ to cover my movements. TNLN SL TFTC
Wasn't easy due to a surprisingly high muggle presence, but I got it. View of Nelson is now totally obscured by Pinus Radiata.

First find of the day at 1020. When I arrived here, there were a few muggles admiring the views, but after a while they all departed. This made the search quick!
Thanks for the cache, samy!

Not only were we nearly there, we WERE there! This was the last cache for the day and we stopped over for the night in this spot. Very little road noise and great view once morning came. Thanks for the cache placement.

I remember coming here when there was a great view. I guess the next time that we get one will be in a number of years after the trees have been logged. I thought that I was nearly to the end of my journey but unfortunately car trouble not too far from here slowed me down. TFTC - 68 of 75
Found by my three year old, to his great delight. Tis a shame that abuse and neglect detract from what a marvelous spot this could be. Tftc - a convenient spot to take a break after snoozes in the car.
We weren't nearly there yet, but it was just a quick stop on the way. The views a bit obscured by the broom and pine trees, but at least there wasn't a lot of rubbish around. TFTC
As it happened, we weren't nearly to the place we were going. In fact due to a number of disruptions - - we had barely begun. - - But who needs an excuse to stop for a cache?! TFTC TNLN
Quick park and grab. Will soon require a bit of chainsaw work on those pine trees to be able to capture the view. Dropped TB
Easy find on a freezing night, great view of snowy mountains. We love the dinosaur we took and we left choc fish
I followed a van up the hill. It appeared to be burning straight oil. He nearly got to the top of the hill, but not quite.
Quick find but the council really need to get their act together up here, it's a pigsty, very embarising to think overseas visitors are going to see all the rubbish up there.
Cheers for the cache though.

A great view when you are Nearly There. Thanks for the cache that was the reason we stopped There.

Nice stop in up here. Cache was in a good spot enjoyed looking out into the tasman bay =)
Linked up with TreMichLan for the "Golden Downs Valley Triangle" this afternoon. TFTC
Quick stop on this drizzly morning as we headed home to Kaiapoi. Dropped off the Jeep TB that I had picked up way down south earlier in the month and forgot to leave in the Jenkins Hill cache yesterday.
Great view point, although probably better when on the way home to Nelson, rather than in the morning with the sun in our eyes. But Points mean prizes. Nice easy cache. TFTC
The most perfectly awesome spot for a cache. Clear skies give a stunning outlook over the Waimea
plains out to Nelson and beyond....way cool. Quick find. Thanks.

We wer nearlt there... Thought the sneaky Walders had played a trick on us lol Turns out we just needed to look harder!
We might be nearly there... but that's not where we're headin...
Had the team looking for this one. swaps made. TFTC

The name suits perfectly, as it is what I've often said to the kids as we spy Nelson after coming over the top. Quick find. Needed to park to hide my search from muggles. Took 'I saw it first' TB. TFTC
Another cache I am sure I have found before... Oh well, at least this time I logged it TFTC
