What a great drive this one is. I'd never driven this track before and my muggle wife had decided that she wanted to come along on my usual new years 4wd/geocaching trip. So, I wanted a track that wasn't to hairy and with only a few caches along the way (so she didn't get bored of me constantly stopping). So, this fit the bill perfectly.
This cache had been on my to-do list for many many years, purely because of the elevation. But the views here are certainly spectacular. Thanks so much for bringing me here.

Some freedom at last after a rather challenging year under a certain leadership. It was nice to be up in the high country breathing in some fresh air. An enjoyable Easter weekend away with great company, beautiful scenery and the many varied cache experiences this one included. Yes and what a view, although a little early in the season to see snow.
**Thanks to Little Miss Muggle for placing this cache.**

Up here for Easter with everyone else in the world, and checking on the caches after the fires.
Pleased to see the ones up here escaped the flames and are in tip top nick.
On a lighter note, it is exactly 11 years and one day since we found this cache the first time
Cheers

In 'surfing' this beautiful area by satellite, this unique cache caught our attention. Thanks for placing it in this awesome area. Wish we could make it here someday.

A 3 day circuit from Canberra, to Jindabyne, to Khancoban, to Walwa, to Wodonga and back to Canberra to find a few specific high D/T caches, picking up a few others on the way.
I'd studied the map and read past logs and decided it might be possible in my AWD Ford Territory. And if I reached a point I couldn't proceed. I'd bike or walk the rest of the way. While there were some tricky bits, I only needed to back up a few metres twice to try again. I was very impressed with the Territory's performance, although a bit more clearance would have been preferable. I met 3 cars on the way in early on, and eigth on the way out. On the way out, looking at some of the sections I'd come up, I was surprised I'd managed to get in.
Last night I got as far as 'Snagg's Place - HCPPP' and spent the night there. Next morning I continued, but with 3km to go, I reached a short steep section that was just too much for my car, with very large holes and prominent rocks, so I parked up and walked (the bike had a flat tyre and since I was close enough I didn't bother to fix it). When I was at the top of this section, I watched a true 4WD utility not even hesitate and power up - their wheels did spin a bit, but overall they made it look really easy. 40 minutes later, I was at GZ, and soon had the cache in hand. Then another brisk walk back to the car. Thankfully no issues getting back to the main road.
How can I not give this a favourite - it was well worth the effort and the experience. TFTC.
PS. I wouldn't do it again in the Territory. Next time I'd definitely use a proper 4WD with higher clearance.

We camped last night at Davies Plains Hut - a beautiful location. The night sky here is like no other.
Then this morning we made our way further along the track to find this cache. The car ‘danced’ and bounced its way towards GZ. Finally got to a flat spot near GZ and pulled off the road.
We took the binoculars to check for snow on the mountains - none today. Then we found the cache nicely tucked away and all in great condition.
Thanks so much for placing this cache and adding more enjoyment to our visit to this beautiful area.

Astro said he saw snow. I said where? He said there. The debate is still going on whether it was actual snow or not. TFTC
Could I see snow on them there hills. I reckon it was. See pic. Epic cache.
I had Optus reception here with 3 and some 4G.
Thanks Little Miss Muggle and clear skies from TeamAstro. ️ Cache the planet!

Into the second week of a 2 week horse ride for which I was driving a support vehicle ( I am just getting to log my finds now that I am back). Today we had a spot of trouble when the springs on the chuck trailer broke on the Davies Plain Track, but we quickly (about an hour) got it going again by cutting a log and facing 1 side then cutting a notch into it for the axle, with a chain stopping the axle from sliding backwards and a tie down from stopping it sliding forwards we were going again. Watching from behind our fix didn't even move as we continued on the rough track. At least traveling this slow allowed me to find the cache and check out the magnificent view on a glorious day. TFTC.
Happy New Year! Due to the northern part of Davies Plain Track being closed, quite a detour was required to get here. But it was well worth it. Many TFTC!
Wow how did you even find this spot ! A great view after the quick walk up ! Saw some brumbies !! Love being up here ! Tftc
My first cache on our trip over the Easter Weekend, to one of our most favourite spots in Victoria - the High Country. Don't expect to get too many as no-one else in the group enjoys this wonderful sport , not even hubby who hates to stop the car once we are rolling. TFTC LMM SL Took Trickster.
Dropped in and checked on this one for Dicko & LMM.
Just as we left it.
The view has diminished with the fire regrowth though. Bit of a shame.

Nice stretch during the drive over Davies Plain. Also a good day for the views (although bit too early for a snow). TFTC
ON A 4 DAY TRIP STARTING AT CORRYONG AND VISITING GIBSON HUT, MT PINNIBAR, MT ANDERSON, MT GIBBO, TOM GROGGIN, DAVIES PLAIN HUT, MCKILLOPS BRIDGE, MT TINGARINGY AND THEN FINISH AT DELEGATE.
IT WAS AN UNBELIEVABLE TRIP WITH SOME GOB SMACKING VIEWS. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE TRIP TO ANYONE PROVIDING YOU HAVE A DESCENT 4WD VEHICLE AND 4WDING SKILLS.
OUR 2ND FIND FOR DAY 2 OF OUR TREK.
NO SNOW ON THIS DAY. VIEWS WERE AWESOME.

#243 Found at 10.10am. S'no views today but certainly cold enough for there to be some - the clouds hanging around were shrouding the peaks. Camped at Davies High plain hut last night and heading toward Bentley Plains today. On the way out we were fortunate enough to spot some brumbies and they apparently thundered through camp last night but only Dad heard them.

1044 Crested the hill and found out where the wind was coming from - nearly got blown away, as boy was it cold. Back at the truck, some people had stopped to see if I was broken down/OK and we all had lunch together. There are a lot of nice people who get up into this neck of the woods. TFTC Little Miss Muggle

With the Davies Plains track seasonally closed, this was a lengthy, walk/climb
But well worth it, a postcard day, stunning scenery, what better place to find a cache, relax and have lunch.

Thanks

Found at 1430, thought I should log the time seeing I was the FTF for 2007 and thought someone might try and stump me on this one. I can't believe no one has logged this cache since april 2006. Thought we would look in on it and treat it just like a drive by. Easily located with a short walk through the grass just of the main highway althouh after locating the cache and turning around I had no idea where i had parked the Toyota Corolla hire car from HERTZ cause all the surrounds looked the same. I can now truly understand how one can become dis-orientated in the snow country.
Anyway thanks for the cache, I don't think the little corolla will ever be the same again.
I took a Koala Bear left by Ian & Penny {hello to you both if you read this from Frank and Cathy whom you met in Gisborne VIC] and left a yellow Dinoasaury type plastic animal[not the real thing]Oh and it still needs a pencil cause i was not going to break a pen to fit into the container,
Cheers
Team Crankie with a special thanks to Hertz Hire Cars.
Oh! the hire car is an 80 Series Landcruiser. Please do not attempt this in a Corolla, go for a Mitsubishi Lancer Coupe at least and do not get it from Hertz.

Found this cache after running up the last of the hill from where we parked our cars only to see DJ and Embi snapping away happily at the poor souls thinking they were in for a FTF!!! After coming over the hill I spotted their heads behind some cover and thought 'that's strange' and soon saw the cache container sitting there...
It is a fantastic area and the views are superb as the name suggests!
Thanks Steph (and Dicko) for sharing this place with us!!!

First to log but not to find. Adam raced up the hill to get this one, oblivious to the fact that DJ, Embi and PK were already hiding up the top after finding it!
You're right Steph, There's Snow view like this one! I'm sure it'll be in lots more snow soon.
Thanks Miss Muggle, for your sharing the view and the cache with us!

I forgot to log this one. Thanks Little Miss Muddle for a great cache put out for all the right reasons, spectacular views, dedicated to people who deserve it and a touch of practical joke. I would also like to thank you for your help with Emily over the weekend.
Nice one Steph. A fantastic gesture for DJ and Embi following the HCPPP Caching trip
A cache we werent expecting! Excellent views of the snow caps. Good to see a bit of fun trying to get FTF. .

We arrived at the cache location ready for the final cache before the tracks turn to
bitumen. With all vehicles in line the call came over the radio the meet at the back of the
convoy for the extra set of waypoints to find the cache.
being third last I thought this will be easy - grab the coordinates and run for a FTF as it must be
located at the back of the convoy. When everyone was present the words of minus 0 from the Lat and GO.
Finger eager to punch in the new coordinates I froze for a moment trying to figure the zero bit.
Then it dropped NO CHANGES RUN!.
following the Mooses and a few others up the hill we got to within metres from GZ when DJ, Embi and PK
emerged from behind a rock laughing and taking photos of us mugs running towards them.
The game was over and we had been stooged in one of the best setups to date.
Needless to say the cache had been logged and after catching my breath we added our names to a great
cache.
Many thanks Little Miss Muggle for a fun cache we will always remember as a great finish to the seekend.

Found on 25/04/06 @ approx 1130 AEST or so (I forgot to note the time ). A tricky puzzle on this one meant that DJ and Embi were never in any doubt getting to the cache first , but the run up the hill was good to stretch the legs after a couple of hours in the Prado with the Spruce Mooses.
During the HCPPP event there were many views, but a snow view like this was great to see

Many cheers to the delightful Little Miss Muggle

Joint FTF honours to djcache & embi for a simultaneous find.
Found by djcache.
Tipped off the night before that a thankyou cache had been placed we were happy to comply with the requests of the conspiritors and engineer the group convoy order for the morning.
While all the others moved to the back of the convoy to find out that the number they needed to subtract from the coords to get the final for the location was zero, embi & I snuck away from the front with the cameras to watch the surprised looks as the others raced up the hill.
The first spotted was a stampeding moose racing up the hill. Eyes only for his GPSr he failed to notice us until nearly on top of us. The others followed and soon the plan was realised.
Thanks LMM for a nice gesture and a good laugh.

Another fantastic view which no doubt will be much snowier very soon. We already had a FTF for the weekend, so it was good to watch the rush up the hill and even more fun to hear that it was in vain as the FTF had already been claimed. Signed the log with the crowd & back off for more 4wd adventures.
Thanks Little Miss Muggle for another great stop off on the way.

Found by Mary & David at about 1000 with the HCPPP crowd on Anzac morning. The geocaching hounds scampered off up the hill when Dicko announced the magic number only to find dj, embi and PK already there at the finish line. The snow views were inspiring and drew many admiring comments. TNLN. Our thanks indeed to Little Miss Muggle for bringing us here and providing such an enjoyable diversion on our outbound trip from Davies Plains.
