16:35 Well what do you do if you have a spare afternoon and you want to at least find one cache this weekend. Well myself, Gyln and Kay decided to tackle this great cache.

We had a great time finding all the clues and had to revisit one of them twice because we had misread the sign, the final waypoint proved hard as the GPS signal wasn't the best so we were confused and must admit we called the Pud helpline to confirm we were in the correct spot.

The university today was very busy, heaps of people about. Never been to the most of the locations so the cache was great for discovering some new sights.

The GPS reception at GZ was great so no problems finding it. The final was found in a great spot, removed a lighter from near GZ.

What a cool hide really enjoyed it, why isn't this cool cache done more often?

Thanks for the cache Team Pud.

Great cache, one of the best!--did it in concert with the infamous Kiwigary, so it was relatively easy in the end with nice little twists all round.Keep it up Mike, VG!

Finally found it! AnnaFromSweden and I did the legwork for this one a while ago and were a bit confused as the GPSr seemed to be a bit off at WPG. But after getting some help from the.pud, we figured that one out. Also had a bit of a problem interpreting the result of WPC, turned out to be rather obvious though...

Didn't get around to actually finding the cache till today, even though it's pretty close to where I work! I liked the spot and the way the cache was hidden.

Quite a fun cache, really enjoyed finding this one. Picked up a travel bug. TFTC!!! Smile

AnnaFromSweden an I started on our journey around this fine tertiary institution today. Figured out most of the waypoints, still working on G, after an exchange with the.pud I guess for some reason or the other my readings were a bit off. Will continue the journey later next week... Wish us luck! Smile

Yes indeed peter had gone, so we have changed WP G to a different structure. Have updated both the description and the WP co-ords to reflect the new place you need to go.

Cache is in great condition considering the bad weather we have had lately Wink

Enjoyed reading ridder76 log in the book. Smile

I'll have to tweak the puzzel again. It'll be back soon.

I did the leg work for this one months and months ago but couldn't get to the final location due to finishing too late at night. I finally found it today and have to say that I was most impressed. This was a really rewarding cache.

WP G - While walking back from the cache I cut through the area that used to have WPG, Peter seems to have been removed. Might pay to check this out properly if you get time.

At last several months after doing the leg work we found it. We choose the wrong day back in Feb to find the final but today was no problem. The view from GZ was amazing.

What a great evening of caching! This was the only one I found, but it took me a few hours and it was a LOT of fun. I really enjoy this sort of cache!

GPS went a bit silly on WP B, but manage to find it after about 20 minutes of wandering around. The rest were easily found, though I had to resort to the clue for the final. How clever!

I might just have to copy this one here in Wellington....

Being totally fascinated by this multi, Rumo made Rala find it on her own today. And she absolutely agrees with him: Definitely the best and most creative hide Rala has seen so far. What a cool idea. Well done. Keep up inventing such caches. TNLNSL(again)

Rumo is currently studying at UoA and we just got aware of this cache some days ago.
Wow, what a multi. Rumo still cannot believe this idea. Ingenious. Bold. Capturing. He had some problems with the meaning of Waypoint G, no let's not call it problem, but thinking: "No way. This number cannot be a ..... They would never dare to put the cache THERE. So where could it be hidden instead?"
It was the same with the FTF yesterday. Rumo thought: No way. It cannot be there. I would not dare to put it there. Rala didn't - so she found it. Rumo will definitely start thinking different from now on.

#177 Exam passed on second attempt.

Found all WP clues easily in the evening over the weekend, returned today to do the final. What a great hide, this one has to be the best and most ingenious cache yet. Well done pud. We really enjoyed this one, knew what to look for, but it still took a while to find it. This place has really changed since I spent way too much time here socialising… I meaning studying

[OMG!!! BEST CACHE LOCATION EVER!!! YOU ROCK!!!
Fortunately I am familar with the campus having studied there in the 90's, so I knew how to access all of the locations - admittedly there are now many new buildings since then.
This was the most enjoyable cache hunt I've done yet though - mostly due to the final location but also because it is kid friendly (waypoints close together and relatively safe] - use underpasses for crossing though!).
Only comment I would say is that waypoint D clue should perhaps say "Number of white pavers in *NEW ZEALAND* (large and small) multiplied by 2 then subtract 2" (not just those in "*NZ*"). Of course only the correct answer works in the GPS co-ords, but it may be more explicit for newbies.
[I am still buzzing about that cache location ; )
- two coins (one for each kid)

A nice put together cache my the.pud.
Finally found this one, attempted finding the points back in July(last Year) but wasn't able to get all the required info, then the semester got really busy and it got put on the back burner.
Decided today after finishing work to miss the traffic and finish the cache. Found the remaining points and correct info.
A really nice hide, took a little while to find, due to the wrong number for G, until I realised my mistake, nice Smile
I have spent many a hours/days at this place, cheers for bring me back here, was last here end of (my) last semester in November.

Well we had a lovely walk through the maze of buildings and park collecting all the waypoints. Wpt 2 was the most difficult due to the large scale construction going on nearby but we eventually found a way around to it. Then we worked out the final position only to discover we'd got our timing wrong and will have to return another day. Doh! Looking forward to finishing this one off...

Being uni holidays had the place to ourselves. Found all the waypoints and were quietly sitting breaking the final coordinates down when Stephen said: "I know where we are going and what to look for" and so without fuss the cache was located. Excellant idea. Hope the logbook stays dry.

All cachers should reserve some time to attempt this cache. Allow about 90 minutes to complete this exam.

Dropped in a geocoin. Very shiny it is.

Edit: Darn dates.

Great cache. Found with my friend jsne001.
The last waypoint/clue was a bit of a mystery until we discovered what it meant. Very cleaver.
Took toy car. Left 150 French Pacific Franc's.

What a fantastic final... but let's start from the beginning. On my second day in Auckland I had collected all the waypoints. Nice sightseeing! Then in the end didn't have time to go for the final. So that was the task for today. Very slowly I zeroed in on the right section, checked again online, made it to the top and couldn't belive my eyes! Thanks for this wonderful cache. TNLNSL.

Had some time to kill at 5am so had a crack at this one. Found all bar the cache by 6am but had to head off to work. Went for the final in my lunch hour but all I got was alot of exercise fast walking back to work. Determined to crack it rechecked a few waypoints after work. Found one mistake and a possible misinterpretation but still ended up at the same place. Nobody at work could figure out the clue here I am :2.5hrs into it nothing for my labours.

Arrived here mid-morning and had a huge challenge finding a carpark. Once that was solved we wandered around picking up the answers for each waypoint leaving F to the end.

Apart from the nice sculptures we were visiting on this tour, the place doesn't seem to have changed much in the last 20 years since I spent far too much time here.

Had major trouble at F until I realised we had the printout of the latest information but the waypoint for F on the GPS was the 'old' one so we had been decoding the wrong plaque. Headed away and did some other caches and just before heading home thought to give Butterfly Lady a call who looked up the correct coordinates of F for us. Thanks very much.

The final location was a complete surprise and the kids really enjoyed all the secret squirrel stuff!

Thanks for the fun guys

2.45pm. Spent approx. 2 hours on this one jostling amongst the students as we roved all over the campus. Discovered many little park areas and monuments we never knew existed. The GPS struggled amongst the tall buildings but always managed a fix in open areas along the route to each waypoint. We found all waypoints, calculated the numbers to reach GZ. Recognised the cache container when we opened it !! This was a really neat cache that you could not help but thoroughly enjoy. Thanks The Pud - it must have involved quite a bit of work on your part !
Took the geocoin. Signed log.
Cool M&P.

Tweaked WP F ever so slightly using a new plaque.
It's all go again, go get that geocoin in the cache.

There seems to be a problem with the way people are interpreting WP F, i'll disable the cache and make a few changes.

I made a complete dogs breakfast of this one but got there in the end. Still don't know how F works but convinced myself a certain set of numbers were required and they turned our to be accurate. Then in the rain on Saturday I'd misread G so I spent a long time exploring in places that whilst interesting were well shy of the mark. Another call the.pud and I realised how I'd gone wrong and found the cache.
Swopped GeoCoins. TFTC it was a lot of fun with several clever features.

06-Aug-06
Had a problem with waypoint F that sent me exploring some strange places.
The most obvious interpretation (for me) of the instruction yielded a values that didn't look right. A different approach yielded values that did look right but were clearly wrong.
Ran out of time to go back and have another go. Will save for lunchtime in the week.

23-Jul-06
Popped in for a quick maintenance visit, all OK.
Also dropped a SEPAG geocoin (Liberty Bell).... The history behind this coin, the owner crazy aaron sent it to me from USA, so we thought it only fitting to put it in our cache inspired by him.

I was out and about early this morning, so was a good chance to do this one while I could find a carpark! Brilliant! - really enjoyed this roam about my old haunt. Had to deal with a few red herrings for the final, but a great surprise when I got there.

We had such great fun with this cache. First enjoyed the unusual objects that we wouldn't have otherwise seen, then the final hide - fantastic. When we arrived at the general GZ I remembered immediately why we needed G (from my past roles). Heh, heh, not much traffic about late on a Sunday. Well done and thanks so much.

Realised where we went wrong last weekend and returned today for a quick find. can't mention here what we did wrong as it would give the cache away. Anyway, great cache the.pud, thanks Smerrall for the check, we had realised our mistake not long after the first log.

I always feel responsible for a cache until someone else finds it in fear I may have inadvertently revealed its location, so I keep a close eye on them. To reassure myself about this one I did a cache check today. All is correct and in place.

01-Jul-06
A pleasant walk around the waypoints, some good history and a few surprises. Moved on to the final which was where we had suspected from very early in the hunt.
Searched for an age, first by the number and then for the clue, no sign of it where it should have been, or have we stuffed up somewhere.

I saw this cache pop up a week or so ago, but hadn't had a chance to get it, despite being on my route to the office. I had a fair idea of the general area from the description, and verified this from the waypoints. I had some trouble at G as the clue, whilst accessible at night, is very hard to see. Between showers today, visited G and caclulated the final location. Cache immediately stood out in an area which I imagine to be rarely visited, despite heavy traffic all about. A well done, brave hide.

01-Jun-06
Found all the waypoints without problem. When I plugged in the numbers, one waypoint looked wrong. I quick email to the.pud comfirmed that I'd under counted one set of objects.
In the interim, I guessed where the cache must be from waypoint G, and the general locality given by the others.
Given the location, I was very nervous about locating this cache. Upon arrival at ground zero, all was clear, and it was an easy snatch and grab. Then I just had to get it back...

I went out to try this one yesterday morning but ran out of time as I was due to be back home within 10 mins but it was a 3 min walk back to the car and then a 15 min drive home. I did get all the WPs though I had a feeling that one of them was wrong.

Anyway came back today to find that my cache coords put me in the middle of a green area. Had another look my workings and decided to take a gamble. It worked. I soon had the cache in hand while trying not to be seen by the ever present muggles.

In: Dead Head Bear TB
Out: Cake mixer (to make room for the TB)

Cheers for the cache.

10:20 a.m.
Well I managed the FTF on my 2nd visit.
Wednesday dawned and the rain was piddling down but by 11:00 it seemed to be easing and so to save on fuel and more especially parking I decided to use my senior’s bus card for this foray. As I looked out the bus window at the continuing rain I thought I must be mad to be beta testing a new multi and so it turned out. Well, just a little bit mad.

I easily found all of the waypoints and double checked and photographed most of them as micraculously it stayed dry. I misunderstood one counting exercise and really over taxed my poor brain until I backed off and realised I could probably guess the number anyway. I later sent an email to the.pud calling him some rude names for this torture but I must apologise as I had misinterpreted the instructions at this point.

However when I sat down to work out the final position I had some doubts as, even with the guess and interpolation, I ended up with a final in a park quite some distance away. As the rain had started again I gave up and returned home.

Later I discussed with the.pud some of my findings and discovered that as often happens with this beta testing one of his waypoints was wrong (immediately corrected)

He pointed out a minor error in my calcs as well and with the revised waypoint I returned today, all keen again. This time it all computed and I confidently set forth for the final. Well before I reached GZ the penny dropped and I knew pretty much where all this was heading. I was just scared some of he many people in the area would ask me what I was looking for. I had no idea what exactly I was looking for and I got very apprehensive about it. However after blundering about for a while I managed to narrow my search area and soon had the cache in hand.

Thanks for the exercise both mental and physical.
I have walked here with my walking group and knew my way around but for first timers it is a very interesting area.
