Found it near the Carpark when I return to my Car! When I knew it befor I start the walk, I save much time searching at the lookout! But it was a really nice walk and a breathtaking Waterfall!

With the coordinates in the logs below, there is no difficulty to find that cache when I returned to my car. BUT the cache is really far from the origine cache. I agree with the idea to add some caches between the carpark and the first lookout.
When the owner will come to repair his cache, maybe he can add some ?
Whatever, TFTC
That was my last cache in New Zealand. Go back in France tomorrow.

The GC is still in the location indicated in more recent logs. In a fairly shocking state - it would be excellent if someone were able to grab and take ownership of this one because the walk and falls are really nice. A GC in the original location, and perhaps one or two others on the way, will be great reward for those keen to get out into some lovely NZ bush.
Found at new location as described in logs. TFTC

Found today with NovaLightning, great start to the day, located cache at the coordinates outlined in previous logs.
Stopped in early this morning with Cats & Dragons. Had read the logs below and found the cache at the new coords. Great spot.
Muggled!
As we now live out of the area, could be a while before it's replaced.
Sorry about this fellow cachers ... but we will do our best.

well, it looked to be fairly obviously under the platform but it just didn't seem to be there - although there were way to many muggles around so couldn't really tear the place up proper like..?
Its been muggled - no longer at the location stated - however the "geo god" gave me the curosity to explore the new location... and it was re found.. the log before was another cacher who found it in the grass and re hid it. at the new location(S37 44.247 E175 51.782) - clue "boxed in" we don't know who owns the new location seems to be there for some reason... so how long it will last we don't know..(on talking to the owner they note they have moved out of the area...)
Yeah, this would have to be one of the most beautiful walks, following the stream from the Waterfall all the way. Nice cool day with a tiny bit of drizzle but not enough to get wet. A very busy track, lots of people out enjoying the Great Outdoors.
Took heaps of Pics venturing out onto the large boulders, this would have to be one of my favorite caches, I really recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind a bit of a walk and the time to spare. Thanks.

Found on the way to the Puketutu Hut with KSWomble & the PakN'Boots trampers.
Lovely sunny day. Plenty of families and visitors to the falls, but we had the place to ourselves while we were on the viewing platform.

Easy cache (not so hidden) but the place! Bloody awesome place!!! Hopefully I will return back one day! TFTC!
Awesome walk - lots of water going over the falls - view is great from here. Been up here a few time but this is the first since caching TFTC
Great location. Over the Kaimai from our new home. Will be back to walk over the top.
First cache to start the day, Head lamp on as it was half a hour before sunrise. Spectacular view of falls. Now on to the top.
Thru short illness cannot attend to cache.
Would the next cacher please leave pen/pencil in cache.
Many thanks

Pretty good walk up to cache. Top of falls hidden with low cloud. Cache a quick find and in good order. SL TFTC
cool! After cyclone wilma, lots of water. No writing implement in container. tnln, tftc
Wow love this place great walk thanks for bringing me here - this is what it's all about I think - carried on up to top of falls and down the Maori track - will be back to do rest of Kaimai caches ONE day
First of two caches found today while tramping from the falls through to Clay Rd
easy find well placed but not covered.

I found my first geocach ! nice trail, with a really wonderful view also if was raining quite a bit!. By Mattia from Italy and Carrie from USA
Pleasant walk up through the valley with a steady climb to the falls. Interesting to see the old Maori track. The local Maori guided William Colenso over this track in the 1840's according to a sign at the car park. The old Maori track goes straight up the spur and avoids the stream gorge with its huge boulders and the massive timber staircase out of the gorge.
Lots of people around, but no one at the lookout. Hurriedly grabbed the cache, signed the log and re-placed the cache; all unnecessarily because no one arrived.
Added two TB's. Onwards to the next cache 150 m higher in vertical altitude, and only 200 m horizontally!
Thanks for the cache!

What an amazing day for a wonderful, somewhat strenuous hike up the mountain with AJ, McFly and the rest of their family! McQueen, the youngest 2 yr. old member of the family, sang most of the way up and down the track, riding in his dad's back pack. We made it up to the gorgeous falls, enjoying the giant trees, vines twining around them, the gurgling of the water over the huge rocks, the merry singing of the birds as we laboured along and up. How exciting to reach the foot of the falls and finding a cache nearby! Left our wooden signature token and a geocaching pin, T a magnet and a lots of pictures to commemorate our time here. TFTH, TFTC BTW, it would be really great to have another cache or two at a couple of the other amazing viewpoints along the way .
Beautiful walk through the forest up to ground zero. Outstanding waterfall, well worth the walk up. Quick easy find. TNLNSL TFTC
Nice walk with the family. Unfortunately no writing device with this cache as it appears someone has removed it. TFTC
Have wanted to get here for ages finally found the time to get here.
It was a busy place today. I only counted 99 steps I sure they could have rounded it off to a nice 100 or did I miss count?

After a nice walk to the lookout this cache was very easy to find using the hint. I smashed my leg against the platform when replacing it. Now it is swollen into a huge blue/black lump on my leg. [B)] Greeting from Denmark! TFTC

The waterfall walk looked like an interesting stop-off on our trip to the coromandel Peninsula, so off we went. A quick check via the WAP ste identified a cache at the lookout - an added bonus! A nice walk up - not too difficult for the two young ones - and a fantastic view at the lookout. Not too many people about on a grey, humid day. A nice easy find at the cache site; log signed and rat TB retrieved. Many thanks.
Teen geocacher accidentally stumbled on this cache. First one for ages as the teens no longer think it's cool! TFTC

Fortunate to have a day off work, so decided to do a couple of caches that are usually hampered by numerous muggles.
Perfect timing with this one today, not a soul about.

First cache in 6 months, kind of unintentional. Climbed to the lookout only to see a cache icon on the GPS, luckily cell reception meant I could look up the clue as my first attempt had me off over the front of the lookout. Thanks for getting us back in the game. TNLN.
Enjoyable walk up,not too strenuous. Easy find altho I did look under the platform at a bit of a risk. Someone may have moved this to the safer spot it is in now. Muggle friends were fascinated ! ( Possible new geo-cachers now ! )

Lots of people on the track today. Very hot walk but all worth while and a lovely swim at the bottom to cool off. Left lizard.
As I know the Geckohs personally and reading their log for this cache I figured this trip couldnt be any more dramatic than that. Lucky it wasnt. Armed with Mr Eathie it was a lovely walk on a VERY hot afternoon......should have timed it better really but never mind. Met many muggles on the journey and it Mr Earthie found the cache himself quickly while no one was around. Nice to see a muggle had found it and signed it previously to us before replacing it.

First cache for 2009!
Decided to tackle the Waiere Falls caches, despite the rain last night. However, a big sign says the track to the top cache is closed for rennovations, but the Old Maori track was still open. It was a bit too wet for me for scramble up higher, so just did this cache.
Easy find at ground zero, despite leaving my notes in the car!

A fun read of Geckoh's - you only need to do this once and you will always carry a headtorch with you after that!
A beautiful day for a brisk stroll. Carpark to cache in just under 15 mins, but found that it was muggle central when I got there. Carried on up to the next cache and found area free upon my return. Easy find with the clue thanks. A truly impressive sight today with a lot of water going over.

Always wanted to visit these falls, so today was the day. Absolutely loved the falls, the bush, everything. Great stuff! TFTC
We decided these 2 would be fun to do to cap off a day's caching, we drove to the end of goodwin Rd and parked up, I decided i would run in while Mrs Geckoh and Miss Geckoh walked in, the agreement was i would pick them up on the way back and we would walk out together. its "only" 1.3km in from the car park to the 1st cache, and then the 2nd cache is "only" 200m further...... i shouldnt take more than 20 mins return for 3km, i'm a pretty fit sort of guy.... It was 6pm when we left the car... i had no torch/headlight with me.....
I got to the 1st cache in about 15 mins, ok, all going to plan, my sub-conscience is thinking, maybe i should turn back, its getting dark and i have no lights... my Geocaching alter ego is saying "she'll be right, the next cache is only 200m away!!" I carry on up, and up, and up, Hmmmmm, the 2nd cache is now 400m away... I get to the top Cache at 6.45pm.... sunset for the 13th of Sept is 6.02pm... Now i get scared, a minor panic attack sets in and i pause to focus on the task at hand, the only light i have is the backlight of the GPS, thank god we put fresh batteries is it, I am getting increasingly worried for Mrs and Miss geckoh, i hope they have turned back to the car!!
I follow the breadcrumbs left on the gps and using the backlight and fortunate light from a full moon i managed to stick to the trail, at the sign that says 20mins to the carpark i meet up with a frantic Mrs and Miss Geckoh, with torch in hand that they recovered from the car before venturing back onto the darkness to look for me....
Word OF WARNING Fellow Geo-cachers; Listen to that sub-conscience telling you to turn back, Always BE PREPARED!!
It was 7.30pm by the time we got back to the car.

Despite weather forcasts decided it was time to head up to the falls again. Quick find then off to the top. Very little rain for a change.
I got out of work a bit early today so I was able to go geocaching. This one came up as closest, so off I went. This turned out to be a really great walk and a great cache location. I wish I'd had time to go to the other nearby cache, but it was getting close to sundown.

[:p] Another of the Kaimais jewels! easy find, no GPS coverage but straight foward clue! Cheers Muzy Man!
Lovely walk on a day with scattered showers. A bit of a puff trying to keep up with my 7 year old bouncing from rock to rock. No GPS co-ordinates for the last 300 m but found the cache without too much trouble. Nice view of the falls. Decided not to carry on to the top as the weather closed in a bit and I didn't fancy the view of the inside of a cloud.

The kids scrambled to find the cache, good find. A great view of the falls, pity the low amount of water at the moment. Carried on to the top for the upper cache but missed this view again as I took the kids on the steep alterative track down.

A lovely place to visit. Picked up the "onward to England" Tow truck TB 'coz anywhere is closer to England than here right???
Good place for a cache, but not much need for GPS receiver. Dry weather over last week didn't leave much of a fall, but great view all the same. Had to wait for muggles to head away before we could strike.
In: Tow truck Travel bug - Destination England. We found it at the Weiti River Maxi cache but forgot to log the find, so hopefully next cacher to take it will record the missing stage of its journey.

I took a chance on this one. Although I knew there was a cache here somewhere I didn`t download the co ords for it onto the GPS, thinking I wasn`t going to have the opportunity to search for it whilst I was staying at Matamata for the week. I thought I was going to spend my only day off in Auckland caching for the day. As it turned out I returned to Matamata earlier than expected so took the time to go and walk to the top off the falls, observing some possible hiding spots as I went. Of course I thought it would be at the top as there seems to be a natural attraction for cachers to place caches at the very tops of hills etc. After a good look I came up with nothing and then decided on the only other obviuos place it would be should be my next searching place, as it turns out I was right, and was well pleased with myself to be able to find this cache without the GPS in an area that has so many potential hiding places.
A great area for a cache, well recommended. Signed log at 1430, TNLN.
Cheers.

Well worth the early morning walk thru this magnificent bush along the river. Finally the awesome waterfall appears. Easier to find using the clue rather than perservering with the gps under the canopy. Thanks for bringing me to this special spot. TFTC
Found with Just Floundering. Awesome walk. Been wanting a reason to walk up this waterfall for over 20 years! Goal achieved today. TFTC
12.30pm. Found it just as it was starting to rain. Our friend Dave had been encouraging us to go see this view for some time so today Mr.F. went with him for the walk. The cache was a bonus. What a great walk - spectacular river gully and beautiful bush. Can imagine the giant boulders rumbling in a flood. Then after a few steps the waterfall loomed out of the mist and spray ahead of us. Most rewarding. As I said the cache at such a wonderful spot was a bonus.
Signed log and left calling card by which time a group of five muggles arrived so screwed the lid on the cache container and made it appear an extra item in our pack until they left.

Fine day and a nice walk in the morning. Quite a few muggles on the track and around the platform. One couple were not about to leave and were right where I need to be so I told them all about geocaching and then showed them the cache. managed to sign the log while the next crown looked at the falls and then put it back. Out sheep and in dino. Thanks
Just like last time I was up this way there were a thousand million muggles on this track. A group of maybe 30 or so very young school kids and there charges all milling arround the cache site...cant believe they didn't stumble over the cache. Needed traffic directors and parking wardens down at the car park. Thanks for the cache and bringing us here again.
4.15pm. A great view was our reward following a very good bush walk. Well worth the bit of effort. Lots of muggles passed on the track both ways but none at the cache site.

After a weekend of rain it was nice to see the sun and the kids needed a good walk. Everyone else must have thought the same as the carpark was completely full when we arrived at the start of the track at about 1.00pm. It had been many years since doing this walk and I had forgotten how beautiful it is following the cascading stream up the valley. The 40 m staircase hasn't changed much though! The waterfall was pumping after all the rain.
