27th find for day 2 of the Melbourne assault trip with Skippy and 57th of 173 all up!

Cache has been smashed, picked up all the remains that were scattered about and left them in a pile by the closest leg.
Cheers

Cache is destroyed, remains of smallish systema etc at GZ

Well I did find it but it will be a bit hard to log as the container and it's contents have been smashed to a pulp by someone with a rock or something. This cache sould be repaired or archived.

Didn't take long to work out why this cache was named thusly. It was a fairly straight forward cache. Looked around for only a few moments before it was spotted.TNLN SL.

We have had Klara (the Cow) TB for far far to long. Now she is on here way back to Brisbane with us (where we got her from) but not before a quick visit to the closest cache to home to show Klara really did travel to Victoria and back!

Found at 5.30pm after a nice little drive thru the mud at the bottom of the hill, I've stood here before, and by the rubbish around so have many others without knowing a cache is nearby.

Very muddy up here today, so the walking option was used for the last 100metres. Thanks for the cache, it gave me a buzz Big Grin

Found it ok. Slippery when wet though

I took the wannabe 4WD sedan up the hill because it seemed a whole lot easier than walking it! A nice easy find, I could hear a few motorbikes out and about too.

Thanks,

We love taking the 4X4 option when out caching, and this one took us up to some fantastic views all around, we stood and took it all in and then went for the easy find.
Thanks Reggie81 for the cache,

I had driven past here one night, so I knew that my poor car wouldn't like to drive right up to the GZ! I walked a few hundred metres and found the cache very quickly.

Found today by Mr Emu & son @ 11.55 a.m., GAFF1 on our "Back to Ballarat" trip. An exciting drive in the GeoMazda6. Due to the dry weather and the fact that it's a work car, we drove right to the GZ. We enjoyed some nice views after having quickly found the cache. No worries about muggles here. Thanks for the tour Reggie81.

16th find of the day at 4:45pm. Accompanied by Feathertop on our clean up around Ballarat an beyond, I drove as close as I could to the cache but the recent downpour made it a bit slippery. TNLN , Signed Log. Thanx Reggie81...Big Grin

Managed to get within 100m in a normal (thankfully borrowed Wink ) car until stopped by some nasty ruts. Found the cache no problem, left some uk coins and too the awfully usful multi tool thing. Quite a bit of litter around here Sad

use a 4wd or walk!!

21-Oct-06
Found @ 17:30

Drove right up to GZ. While the trach is a little rutted, a 2WD vehicle shouldn't have too much trouble if they are careful about where they place their wheels.

On the way up we saw a couple walking their dog, otherwise the place is really deserted.

L: Screwdriver and a car.

Late afternoon find. Left the 4wd down the hill so I could get some exercise. Found easily. thanks reggie81

06-Aug-06
Nice views here. Decided to leave the 2WD down the hill and walk up.. if 2WDing you particularly do NOT want to go down the other side!

Took a few minutes to spot the cache container. Also had to wait for some 4WDing muggles to pass by.

TFTC. TNLN.

Found in the rain... car didn't really like the ruts, clay, and rain, but made it easily enough (watch the wheel placement, fellow non-4wd owners!)

Once I got in the vicinity, was a fairly easy find. Thanks for the hide!

Found by Roma and Max.
Although the co-ordinates at GZ are spot on and the cache name is extremely suggestive, the well camouflaged container eluded us for several minutes of searching.
We left our usual Mondo Figurine and took a Car.
Thanks Reggie81.

Walked up the hill at about 3pm. We enjoyed a patch of sunshine on an otherwise cloudy afternoon and this probably contributed to us thinking views from the cache weren’t to bad. T: Bubbles, Left: Puzzle game. Thanks Reggie81.

03-Jun-06
It was a bit muddy at the bottom of the hill, so we decided against making it a driveby, and walked the last 100 metres or so. Once there, it was located fairly quickly. I didn't make an exchange. Thanks for the cache.

Found by Mary & David at 1810. Too dark to appreciate the bush trackor any views. Left the GeoCalais on the firm ground and walked the last 120m as the track was quite boggy. Found after a short search by torchlight. Took cow, left champagne bubbles. Also dropped off "Shnail Male Travel Bug" for a quick visit, but he didn't stay. Our thanks again to Reggie81.

Thirteenth of Twenty Two finds on the BBBBB (Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, Ballarat, Beaufort Bash) in company with Daks Emu Mob. After our previous experience at hole in one I decided to ring Chefs for a hint, it was getting dark and the way that the cache was just stuck in an unlikely place made it hard to find, I actually found it by accident when I stood on it. Thanks.

19-May-06
Ninth of sixteen finds on the BBBBB (Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, Ballarat, Beaufort Bash) in company with acts2youthgroup. We almost came unstuck at this cache too, owing to the incorrect datum being used to place the cache. However, A2YG had later data than I did, so we went straight to the proper GZ.

Given the comments in the logs about the coords being 20m out, and after having spent way too much time at "Hole in One", we decided to ring chefs on the run help line to find out where the cache was hidden. It turned out that the information we received wasn't correct, but despite this, A2YG found the cache when he stood on it at 1745. Big Grin After we found the cache, I left my GPSr to average at the cache site, and it read 3m to go after about five minutes of averaging. I'd say the coordinates are spot on, despite the nearby power lines. I made no exchange at this one. Thanks to reggie81 for the cache.

Found by Head Chef whilst in Ballarat for work, great location and great to see some new cache's in Ballarat. One of those places you would not know existed except that a cache was there.

Thanks for the Cache Reggie

With a little help from C@W and armed with the knowledge that I was in more or less the right place I found the cache. Thanks to Reggie81 and C@W. TNLN.

14-May-06
Well, if we _insist_ on WGS84...

14-May-06
Enabling cache.

13-May-06
Went past WGS84 GZ and after a quick look around nothing looked likely, so moved onto Australian Geodetic 1966. This is because Hiscock Mining Village’s co-ords were wrong and both caches were hidden on the same day by the same person. At the AG1966 GZ I still did not manage to find anything.

If you’re planning on looking for this cache prior to its co-ords being confirmed and ?fixed, just note that there is a potential problem with them.

Found by caughtatwork at 4:01
Aha! Now that we knew the secret of which datum to use (hint, it wasn't originally WGS84) the 2Dudez and caughtatwork headed back to this cache location to see whether the cache was hiding there instead of 'there'.
While the lucky ones in the 4WD took the easy way, I took the hard, wet, muddy way and met them at the location.
The ones with the GPSr headed off some 20m from where we suspected it should be, and while we were still looking, one of the cleverer Dudez spotted the cache where we though it should have been. Doh!
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks Reggie81. This is a double tricky deal. Incorrect datum and potentially dodgy co-ordinates led us a merry chase this afternoon, but kudos to the 2Dudez who came up trumps on the FTF at this location.

13-May-06
Our 2nd of 3 for the Day.
Our 1st FTF today after meeting and joining up with C@W.
We had no luck to start with and were about to give up and move on when C@W and his daughter came hiking up the hill. It was great to meet other cachers in the flesh, as other than the event cache in Lexton last year, we have only "met" other cachers by email, phonecalls and forums.
We moved on to Hiscock's Village, where C@W thought about the Datum Error, after success there, we came back a little wiser. Co-ordinates were still 20 metres off, but some boffins may argue that the object near GZ give interference to GPSR's
TNLN, great to see some more caches in the area, but please redo your co-ordinates in WGS84 Datum.
Thanks Reggie81

13-May-06
The coordinates are in the wrong datum. You need to set your GPSr to WGS84 and re-do the coords, reggie! Send me an email or write a "note to reviewer" with the new coords and I'll fix it.
