Oh dear - it was archived the day after we left home so it was still on our active list! We made a train journey out here especially and it was well worth the visit to the viewing platform. When we couldn't find the cache (we could see where it should have been before the pruning happened) we studied the GPS and found that there was another cache we could walk to before catching a tram back to the city.
Thanks
Iris & Rodney

Cache has been drum chipped along with the branch it was hidden under. I will set up a smarter cache nearby.

#52 of 101 finds for the day in the company of Dak's Emu Mob.

The hide sure wasn't what we were expecting but we trusted the GPS and sure enough there it was.

The location of this cache is a beauty and in addition to the trains, the views of the city from here are terrific.

Many thanks to Orroral.

An interesting cache location . I wonder how long it will last?. Took a bit of searching to find it.

Found by caughtatwork at 11:06
This is a cunning cache indeed. Hinding there, almost in plan view. The cammo. is excellent and it took quite a few looks before I had it in my hot litle hands.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks Orroral.

Had a crack at this one when riding home from work, but to no avail. I've got only one word to say:

"Fork!"
(I'm obviously referring to moving on to the other Orroral cache that's not too far away Wink). I'll be back here for another search in daylight.

We pulled up here tonight on our way to Bendigo thinking what a great spot for a nice easy drive by. The great spot was correct but an easy driveby it wasn't as it took quite a while to locate the cache. In the entire time we were there we only spotted one train but you could sure see the tracks where others had been
TNLNSL
Thanks Orroral for showing us this great train spotting vantage point

What a great spot. Spend a bit of time looking over the view before getting down to the serious business.
No muggles on a cold windy night, so a quick find.
TNLNSL. Thanks, Robmc.

Found it! Great camouflage! Attempted it on dusk, but could not find it. Came back during the day, took a little bit of searching and then it hit me. Can't believe how good the camouflage is.

Found at 5pm. A fair few people were walking past. A game must have finished at the stadium. Did a bit of trainspotting and pic snapping before heading for the train station myself. Thanks for the view and the cache!

We stopped very close to the cache and with not a sole in sight we got down to the task of locating the cache. The search was brief with Michael finding the cache in seconds. The coordinates were spot on and the log book was signed and the cache replaced in minutes.
Many Thanks Orroral this is a great first cache, and a great spot for Trainspotting.
Regards Mr.Coffee and the "From this location I can see many Coffee stops as well" Clan.

At 5.30, missing someone who was there at 5.00. I also tried at 1.30 but DNF. This time I had no muggles and after a more careful search had the cache easily in hand. T Pink monster, Left blue boot. Thanks Orroral for an interesting location.

Got to GZ at 1.30 pm and it was a foggy view over the constant stream of trains shuffling past .This seemed so easy at first but it took a good 5 mins before i found the simple hide but i just tried to look for hard spots.Nice coloured cache ,tnln and thanks to Orroral for the train view i doubt anybody would have seen before.

Finally found this one on the third attempt. Loved the hidding spot.

TNLN

Thanks for the cache

Found on second visit here. Determined to find this one and after reading the logs and clues it was where it was supposed to be. LNTN

02-Jun-06
Found by Mary & David at 1410. Plenty of trains to spot this afternoon. The cache took a bit harder to spot, but our search didn't take too long. TNLN. Our thanks to Orroral.

After missing it the first time, having it on my watchlist and reading all the posts, I really wanted to find this one! But after having been there once, and with all the logs and hints this one eventually has, it wasn't too difficult... only a bit because some guys were lifting weights up on the balcony across. Surprised I didn't see it the first time... Finally I am able to say: Thanks Orroral

I am glad to say it is still here. Melbourne cache number 97. Thanks. I am not sure trainspotting has the same excitement it had in the days of steam trains - but then maybe there is enough variety to make it worth spending some more time here. TNLN. Thanks.

Thanks for the cache

I found it in the late arvo, nice little walk out from the station. My last one for this visit to melbourne.

First of three finds for the afternoon. I can see why people have had trouble finding this one. I looked twice at the correct spot before finally laying eyes on it at 1100. The view over the rail yards was good (if you like trains). There was a railway worker sitting in a chair just below the platform. with a red flag, a work bag, and a thermos. [?] I made no exchange. Thanks to Orroral for the cache.

As with so many new caches over time, I think all it took was a few finds for the container to settle into a suitable hiding spot.

(Translation: I swear it had to be buried the 4 other visits I made in the past week) Big Grin

Ducked out during my lunchtime today and got this one first go. Can't claim full honours though because it has the topic of discussion between Oenze and myself recently so I had an extra clue or two. There was a signalman on the track very nearby but I managed to avoid his gaze.
TNLN but thanks.

21-May-06
Found 11:55, in the company of PPrass, an interesting location.

TNLN, thanks Orroral.

Found (finally) at 11.55am GAFF5,000,001. If people are familiar with the Hallelujah chorus from Handel's Messiah - then they would get some idea what was said and felt when I finally uncovered the little blighter. Regardless of dak's taunting - I found it all by myself (apart from a little assistance from 3 cachers including the owner who gave me explicit step by step instructions that a blind wombat could follow). I resisted the temptation of flinging the cache onto the railtracks as Biggles Bear was still wanting to log the find. Thanks Orrorol for a well hidden cache, but somehow the hints were just getting me further and further away from where the cache was situated. BTW - good spot to view trains if that is your thing. tn/ln

20-May-06
It was nearing sunset when I arrived, so I wanted to find it quickly before the light began to fade. I searched around for quite some time before finally laying my hands on it.

No exchange was made. This is not an area I am familiar with, but I did find the view fascinating. Thanks for showing me this spot, and for the cache.

19-May-06
Hey Peter! Perhaps you should take Cat along with you next time to find the cache for you. Big Grin Of course, it would be a GAFF5 find then. Big Grin

19-May-06
I have just made a minor adjustment to the coordinates. Thanks Oenze.

I've also gripped up the hint a little more.

Acts2youthgroup have found the cache signed log on 18 May (prior to this update) but not posted yet.

I'm holding off with the magnets for a little while.

I don’t know what all the fuss is about I walked up stopped close to GZ put my bag down and spotted the cache straight away that’s a Gaff 1 find for me. Sorry for the delay in logging the cache. I really loved the platform and the view of the trains. Thanks

17-May-06
I have now been to this location 3 times during my lunch break and even with more information on the cache page and quite explicit details via email from Orroral, the cache still eludes me. I am obviously looking in the wrong spot. However SW (not SE) from where the ramp starts, which is where the steel platform meets the concrete path, down to where the concrete path starts to curve; and within arms length, is not a very large area to search in! But there you have itSad

17-May-06
Found at 5:30pm I thought about where this cache could be throughout the day and decided to go and have an other look after work, while in the middle of my search a chap on a bike pulled up and it turned out to be the cache owner and reached straight in a grab the cache for me and asked if I could check the coords. for him.

TNLN, I wrote in the log but I think I forgot to write down my cacher name because we were too buzy chating (it's always good to meet other cachers while on the hunt)
Thanx Orroral...Big Grin

16-May-06
Looked twice today. Will check again tomorrow following the changes to the notes today.

Perhaps some magnets may make the search easier, as it's quite a suitable structure to attach a cache to.

Have added more beta into the description tonight to assuage my guilt.

15-May-06
same here, a couple of other cachers, no finders...lots of rubbish though

15-May-06
Accompanied by the GeoMrs as navigator and scribe. We set out inspite of the weather looking a bit gloom, but the possibility of another FTF was a strong incentive to overcome the aversion to weather. We navigated our way as close to GZ as the car would allow, and just as we parked the car we noticed saomeone standing nearby, looking like another cacher, ah well a joint search is not too bad. As we were looking around the place, lo and behold, another fellow cacher showes up, this was becoming a cache central, more of a Cacherspotting than Trainspotting, and even though we put our joint effort into it the cache was not to be found, ah well it was nice to meet Mrs Spruce Mooses and a fellow cacher from Denmark.

Got on the tram during my lunch time break and went looking for the cache which was just 2.38km from where I work. I hadn't realised at the time that there were already 3 DNF's - otherwise I may not have bothered. Also I was wearing my business suit and I was somewhat uncomfortable in diving into the area where my GPSr was indicating. After a few minutes timidly rummaging amongst the rubbish, I had to give up as I was soiling my clothes and the train guard on the tracks was starting to wonder what I was doing. The cache is probably still there, but by now has been covered in about 10cm of mulch by the combined efforts of 4 caching teams. Thanks anyway Orroral - hope it is still there seeing as how it is your first. And if it is still there - good hide!!
ps: Amongst the rubbish I noticed some mussel shells! I wonder how they got there?

15-May-06
The cache is still where it was hidden. I think everyone has been looking too hard.

FTF at 2000hrs by Pickupfamily Dad on the way (sort-of Wink) home from work. Without a torch, found very easily with the hint. You guys this morning must indeed have been looking too hard.

Took: Stop Animal Cruelty band
Left: 2xAA batteries

Thanks for the cache Orroral! Nice view from this spot.

congrat pickupfamily. I've now adjusted the clue a little and included a note in the description about not jumping the fence.

Arrived at about 8.30 and found another team looking, gave up after 30 mins, had another look today but could not find.

First on the spot, I think, arrived around 8.30am. Met 3 other cachers here, during my 1h search, but none of us managed to find it... (Posted by cellphone at GZ)

Saw the publish last night and thought it would be a nice present for my 25-years birthday Smile to find my 40th cache and get my first FFC (we call it FirstFinderCertificate in Denmark, but I guess you guys call it FirstToFind here... don't you guys put a "certificate" in there?) But no present for me, except a bike ride in the rain, out from Maribyrnong Sad

Anyways, I suggest Orroral has a look at the spot...
