After spending some time with T2 celebrating her 6th birthday, we thought we'd treat ourselves to a walk along the beach. Thank you for a well placed, good sized, sturdy cache to lure us to somewhere we wouldn't go otherwise. We enjoyed the journey.

Best cache found on the June weekend. After so many drive by's decided we needed something with a nice walk and this was perfect.
As a kid used to place at Moonta Bay and always saw this point in the distance but never walked there.

Found on the Swampy + Adrian Mc YP tour.

Walk by for us, too much seaweed around on the beach to risk getting stuck.

The wind and tides over the last week and probably the preceding months have blown heaps of seaweed up the beach making any attempt by vehicle fruitless. It is up to 40cm thick in places and you would need those Canadian caterpiller tyre attachments to get through.
The cache was initially walked straight past but we realised not far beyond. Found easily and surprised at the 240V XLR connector in the cache. Thanks for a good walk and the cache.

Found on The 2009 Adrian Mc & Swampy Caching Adelaide And Beyond Tour

A great trip out here. Well worth the drive, and very enjoyable

Since we have just bought a new forester, we needed an excuse to test its limits. With the tide out, and the seaweed in, we made our way along the beach. We got stuck once, and I started to worry. Kicking it into low range, we soon slid out and left our mark in the dreaded seaweed

A short time later we were at the cache. As usual a top quality hide from J&J, in a magnificent place.

We didn't stop for long, just long enough to get the smell of seaweed out of the car, before making the return trip up the beach, this time with a lot less hassle thankfully

Thanks for the fun drive. This cache along with Piggy Catches crabs, would have to be the highlights of the trip up to Kadina/Wallaroo/Moonta

The track was dry, tide was out and the seaweed didn't look too bad so we opted for the drive by. No problems whatsoever negotiating the way in and quickly located the cache. TNLN

Found the track, found the seaweed, ventured on with the trusty landcruiser and made this one a driveby. An interesting spot and we enjoyed the view. Found the cache after a short search. Thanks J_&_J

Got the Commode down to the beach with no problems, but baulked at the seaweed-covered trail Red Face, so opted to hoof-it the final 700-odd metres.
Found the cache easily enough. Pleased to find a proper cache. The whole area has been swamped with CMs lately Twisted.
At GZ we were amazed to find what appeared to be a multitude of roads converging on the location Surprised

My favourite cache for the day even if I did make a bit of a meal of it.Smile
Came in by the tower the first time and with an 800 metre beach drive thought I would try from the other side as my map indicated you might get closer.
Drove round and started the 4 k drive down the beach. We made it about half way before a deep crossing of seawater stopped us. Along the way we had passed through a patch of very soft and deep seaweed. I managed to throw lots of it up into the air and Mrs Parrot was a bit dismayed by the shows of seaweed that turned day into night out her passenger window. Razz Slow, steady and slipping I made it through. She wasn't happy when the water blocked us and we had to go back. [:(!]
Around to the other side and after waiting until the downpour finished we were once more back into the beach seaweed. Over a big drift at the top of the beach and along the edge until we cam out onto sand then a lovely drive along the edge until we got to GZ.
An excellent cache to finish the day.
Thank you I loved it.Big Grin

Great location - such a beautiful and amazing place to visit!

Lid was very hard to open - but managed to get it opened - after a long time!

Found the cache at 12.50pm. I couldn't open the cache so hard... I didnt sign the log book yet. I have a good fun drive the car along to the cache. Thanks J & J for organising the cache and hunt.

Rocky Glen Groms have been here before on their motorbikes whilst visiting friends - first time for Mum Grom though and she did a WONDERFUL job driving along the sandy track and beach - drove right up to the spot. Great location - no Travel Bug - written in log but not logged on computer. Took Dalmation Dog and left a Soccer Ball Keyring. Thanks J&J for this one.

good cache very easy to find lucky to be there as very high tides could dislodge it.

Travelled out there today on the way to visit the grandparents at Moonta Bay. Ran over a bolt on the way and got a puncture. Jack didn't do the job, so had to wait for help. Got there right on sunset. It was beautiful. We came in on the south track. I think the North track would be easier. Cousin Jim was with us again.

Took stuffed dog and left Old Yella Car with travel bug (he wants to go overseas - maybe if the tide comes in far enough he will!!!!!). Also left small spade which we found on the beach nearby (in new condition).

We drove the geoPajero from Wallaroo along the beach. Just short of the cache there was a couple of salt flats that looked like they had claimed a vehicle or two.

It ended up being a drive by as we parked only 2 metres from the cache which was out in the open.

Took: Bell
Left: Dog soft toy

When leaving it looked like we could drive on to Moonta along the beach. We were right - we could - but there is nowhere to drive off the beach at Moonta so we had to back track Warburto Road to get back on the dirt tracks.

Got so close... While Kwacka dug the car out, I went for a lovely walk. I saw the cache, reached out for it, and BANG, a huge fly bit my ankle. [B)] Then BANG again on the other ankle. Me being afraid of anything creepy crawly, retreated jumping around smacking my legs. Feeling stupid and determined I tried to grab it again. It was a really hot day and obviously I have sweet blood because BANG it got me again. Retreated with my tail between my legs. Red Face Will try again with bug spray next time, and with Kwacka to fight off the wildlife. Well worth the walk through this lovely area.

A couple of false starts, finally got close, then walked the last few hundred metres. Fascinating and desolate place.

We took water pistol and left a magnifing glass.

30-Sep-07
Fences, dwellings and sandy tracks that threatened to bog the Commode stopped us from getting any closer than 860m. We really didn’t feel like walking into what was shown on the map as swamp and mangroves, so decided to give it a miss today.

30-Sep-07
Do not believe your map.

25-Aug-07
Found this today, its actually a navigation tower if you read the signs on the fence, very interesting place, great scenery, took some magnificaent photos of the sun setting over the water! Took hacky sack left water pistol. Smile

Your right, this area does need some nice easy traditional caches and the drive out to GZ was a nice bonus as well [^]
Saved a frog fro the swamp and left a little red shovel to help dig out the bog.
Cheers again J&J

Found on a lovely winter's afternoon. As we were travelling with a Jeep, we had to take the Jeep TB so it could travel in convoy with one of its own. Swapped toy cars. Party TB Budweiser came for a visit, but didn't stay as there wasn't much action around here. Thanks J_&_J.

28-Jul-07
We made a real outing of this one. Stopped in Moonta to pick up some cheese and biscuits from the foodland, then headed out to enjoy them on some washed up chunks of road at this beautiful quiet beach. Left Jeep, took cat and dog. TFTC

22-Jul-07
great views and what a beach

13-Jul-07
Cache now lives in a matt black PVC stormwater contraption that should last many more years than the original container. A few extra new swaps added to fill up the increased volume of the container. The track and beach made for very easy driving today, despite recent storms leaving tons of seaweed strewn all across the beach. Please replace container exactly as found so it isn't visible to the many off-roaders who go through this area.

02-Jun-07
Dropped by today to leave a couple of TB's, but the container was becoming too brittle to leave it there. Taking cache offline until we return next weekend with a much better container as a replacement.

27-Jan-07
Was checking out the area for kayaking out to and around bird island (no water!! Low tide)
Decided to turn on the GPS… (was a kayaking weekend not a Geocaching one) Cache nearby… Drove straight up to it… very easy find nice area pity about so much dried out sandflats (no fun for kayakers!!)But a great place just the same

11-Dec-06
This one sounded interesting. The kids had their thoughts on home but we wanted to fit this one in. OK for a drive up in Prescilla the Prado. We managed to squeeze in the not so compact dragon TB. Took Tennis Ball. Who would have ever found this without the cache for motivation. Thanks.

10-Dec-06
Was waiting to find the TB number to check Mushoo into this cache. A bit squeezy for him so I think he/she will be pleased to get out for an onward journey.

28-Oct-06
Approached by following coast down from Wallaroo, nice little undulating drive along the beach. Drove to within 1m. Thats a driveby!. Took soccer ball keyring and left a tennis ball. TFTC

14-Oct-06
Found 16:20ish. Nice little drive-by, quite today with a couple of para-sailing boarder's in the far distance to disturb us (Not!). Took: some stuff (can't remember what), Left: some stuff (can't remember what), SL. TFTC.

Found with Team Ermalesh in their 4WD. Wouldn't of dared to try and get our 2WD through the sand, husband would of killed me.

08-Oct-06
We must have come in the long way, got to within 1 metre from cache, my patrol went sideways throught the water Twisted

Thanks J & J

found it fine, had to watch out for the motorbikes. It was the October long weekend.

16-Aug-06
Maxieboy & Kaleb found the cache just on dusk/
We approached the cache from the East and parked under the "weather tower" which we think is a lighthouse.
After a trek through the coastal bush we found the cache exactly on the co-ords expected.

Tks J&J

28-May-06
Easy to find. Cold wind but enjoyed 4wd through mud, sand and seaweed to Wallaroo

21-May-06

Could have ridden my treadly here. The track was hard, .... easy for 2WD, nice and smooth, with zero clearance issues. The water looked tempting so through the squid jag in. As luck would have it, squid were jagged. Dinner was jagged squid.

A lovely spot. I will post some photos when I get them developed Big Grin. (Swapped toys.) Thanks J&J.

Clear skies, TeamAstro.

Found with family, one of whom had already been caching a while. Helped me get hooked!

18-May-06
Found by xavier_goodchild and family while visiting the area. nice drive on the beach, but thank goodness for the georaider 4wd!
Beware of the barbed wire! I'd highly suggest keeping to the tracks, as we had a close call with driving over some unnoticed on the side of the track. luckily, no harm done, but... watch out. it's a little hard to see, and it's there.

Took dick turpin TB, left an ikea tape measure (As family felt we had to leave something. I agree.)

15-May-06
yeah! A ftf!
Initially didn't trust my driving so earnt 3 star terrain rating by going bush 1km! In all the excitement of the find forgot to drop TB, so returned and braved the VT to make the drive by. Beautiful serene sunset with black swans on calm water, but didn't see any of the crabs that the island is renowned for.
Took TBs and flirting keyring. Left Dick Turpin TB and golf ball. Thanks J & J
