We need to disable this one while there are birds nesting nearby. Will enable again in about a month.
there are birds nesting with eggs a few metre from box. the birds were really not pleased we were there and bombed us a lot. consider waiting a few weeks to try and find it..
On our way to Coffs Harbour for a couple of days to attend an event.Camped at the Home of the Comets sports ground. So many times we have visited Coffs but never been to look for this cache but the tide was right today to do it.We spotted a walker comming back from the island so knew it was O'K to attempt. In the end Bill went on his own.He said the D rating was far too low as he had to fight of sharks with his walking stick. But he found the cache when he noticed something odd.A nice way to visit the town & area is by following the geocaching trailThis is certainly worth a FP. Thanks Liz and Bruce for hiding this cache.
Murphys law. The day we go to replace the cache which appeared to be missing a found was made. We have moved it out of the bushes now in a rock cairn. Please use stealth when retrieving and replacing.
On the hunting trail with Liz and Bruce on a 2024 New Years adventure. Liz and Bruce had a plan to do some maintenance on this one and I was just lucky to be along for the ride. Today was our last caching day together for this adventure and we had done the appropriate research to ensure a low tide crossing with the deepest section below knee high water. Upon arrival at the car park, we got an unexpected surprise to discover the cache had already been found prior to our arrival albeit not at GZ. Took a fair search for us to discover the goods, but replaced it at the actual GZ within a small rock cairn. As a fun cache to get to combined with magnificant views, it gets a favourite point from me. On such a beautiful day, Liz and I took the opportunity to enjoy a swim on our way back to the car. Its always a highlight finding Liz and Bruce caches dotted around the country that have been in place for many years. Its an extra bonus when were caching together at the time. Its a great day for caching. TFTC Liz & Dad
We will be in the area in the next few weeks so will check to see the status of this one.
Will disable it for longer as the nesting birds are still active. We will be that way in December so will check on the status of the cache. Thanks for the information given by the last geocacher.
Probably one of the most exciting dnfs I've had in a while. First the awesome shallow water wade across to the little outcrop. Then the next ten odd minutes were spent scrambling around unsuccessfully at gz, so I stepped back for a rethink and log read.Had another scrounge around before stopping again a moment.. And it was then that I realised I was being swooped by a really angry bird.Abort ! Abort !Scrambled away defending myself as best possible before I got out of range, then began the sad shuffle back to the mainland and the rest of the crew. (Who were happy spotting whales anyway.)So uh yeah.Sad face at not finding a cache here.I dare say they're still nesting.
Bird breeding should be complete. A recent visitor said the cache was still there but we are happy for it to be replaced if it cannot be found. With our thanks.
We will disable this one for a while as there are nesting birds nearby, Sorry for any inconvenience.
Could not locate the cache at GZ
Although my search was interrupted by a seabird who was naturally carrying on a treat as its nest is very near GZ
Might be an idea to leave this one for a month or so to let the little guy do nature’s work. But nest had 4 terrific eggs in it right in the open on a rock
So I did not dwell too long and did a pretty good search but no cache
But loved the wading

Should have read a few logs back and we might have had better luck. Most obvious ledge was cacheless.
Very low tide today so we managed to get to GZ with only wet ankles. DNF but will try again.....
Didn't find
But I was cold and the sun was setting fast
Suspect it was a bit further East reading other comment - an oyster catcher was making a heck of a racket - it happy me being there
Will try another time - still an good adventure - thanks

Today we had a geocaching jaunt around Coffs Harbour, cleaning up some older caches, avenging some dnf's and tackling new ones too.
Last cache for the day and what a great one to finish on. We were there about 2 hours before low tide and the water was knee deep at worst, very manageable. Took a lot of searching all around gz to finally locate the container, quite well hidden in the end.
Thanks for the cache, fp given

This took a while and the hint did not help, the cache is slightly East and just under a small shrub, I nearly gave up due to the incoming tide already being chest high on the way over, but happy daze in the end
Had a long search for this one with a friend but to no avail… might have to have a second look another day. With shoes next time!
Have checked this one out for years and this morning from the motel room checked out low tide and thought today’s the day, searched for a bit then checked out last log ins for a hint and from above got me to the treasure, great location, thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.
I’ve wanted to get this smiley for a while now. Today the tide was perfect but alas no smiley. Took the last post into consideration but still no luck. Surely it can’t be that hard. The rocks aren’t pleasant on bare feet so I’ll wear shoes next time.
I have been looking at this cache for years, today the water was low enough to walk over ankle deep. Not that a paddle was out of the order it just happened to be I drove past and seen the water parted like out of some book. I made my way round to the GZ and the hint wasn’t helping as I spotted some ideal locations where a small or micro ca he can be hidden but the 6 months between finds had me worried.
I widened my search and even looked under some plants with no luck. I set off to go for a fly fish off the eastern end and after 30mins or do I new the tide turned so I scramble back over the sharp rocks (no shoes) and stopped back at the GZ. I took a new angle of above and soon locating the dry clean cache nearby nearly in the open just under some shrubbery.
I thought of rehinding to the hint but it seemed safe all this time where I found it.
Thank you for the beautiful location. Log dry and safe fav point tftcsl

Mr. Emu found it after wading over to the island at low tide while being watched by Mrs. Emu and a lonely pelican. Mr. Emu tipped half a cup of water out of the container but luckily the Log Book was dry. Thanks Liz and Bruce for placing this Cache in the beautiful location. It is one of our favourites.
A very enjoyable cache with moom3, we went for a swim on the beach before picking up the gps and wading over to the little “island”. After a little scramble up and then down to the cache, the caches hidey hole was quickly uncovered. A very sturdy cache container might I add. Signed the log tftc
Me and mrwhiskers76 were in the area for a swim about 1.5 hours before low low tide and the water was perfect for crossing. After crossing over the water and a scramble up to gz, the hidey hole was spotted quick quickly. A very sturdy cache container might I add, thankyou
Was staying in Sawtell and went for a walk down near the island at low tide.
Waded over and saw a friendly pelican standing nearby.
Went to the GPS location and made the find.

Cranky bird chasing us but found it after a while. We also saw some whales great cache.
After coffee on the headland, the better half announced she wanted to "check out the shops". If there's any phrase that'll send me hurtling headlong into a morning of caching, it's that one. Grabbing a geokid and a pen, I sent the missus on her way, telling her we'd walk back into town along the beach.
The tide was pretty favourable, and after a short knee-high wade across to the island, we soon found the right path to GZ. It was then that a large oystercatcher (I think?) started going berserk at us, and I quickly saw why. Under a big rock ledge was a nest with two eggs in it. Thankfully, the cache container was higher up, about 10 metres away, which meant we could retrieve and sign the log without any trouble.
Everything's in good order here, and we loved our walk to this beautiful place. It also happened to be my 600th find, and it allowed me to avoid an hour or so of mind-numbing retail tedium, so it's an FP from me! Thanks for the cache, Liz and Bruce.

having had this one sitting on the map for the 7 and a half years i’ve lived in coffs i was keen to find it, today i happened to be in the area at low tide so i made the trip out here. a cool little island, fav point for the location. thanks
Hubby enjoyed the wade over to this one during a reasonably low tide. Like most others took the hard way in and easier way out! Scribbled our name into the sand on the island before wading back to the mainland. Spending a few nights in Sawtell on the way home from the Clear Waters Mega before the final stretch to Brisbane tomorrow.
Found cache today, very windy today and water was cold. Trackable ‘TB Kitty’ was not in cache, not sure if taken and not logged but will keep an eye on it. Great views, definitely don’t come in bare feet, it hurts! TFTC.
Not a DNF really an abort, next time I go to get a cache tat requires water wading I will check the tide heights and times .
Nice and peaceful at night here though with barely any muggles, they were all fishing and didn't care what I was doing.

A lovely stroll to this cache. We must be on spring tides at the moment as the tide is t fully low until 5pm and I was able to walk across without getting my feet wet at 3pm. The rock pools look so cool, I wished I’d brought my snorkel and mask. Still, I enjoyed the view for a few minutes after signing the log, replaced it as found and enjoyed the walk back along the beach. TFTC Liz and Bruce.
On the spur of the moment decided to have luch at sawtell, grabbed a wrap and headed to the lookout. 'Cause its a weekday there was barely a soul around which was nice as normally its teeming with folks. As i was finishing my lunch i noticed the tide was exactly right to get this cache. This is such a pretty location as often is the case with a liz and Bruce cache. I spent a bit wandering around the little Isle before heading back to the car to get on with my day. Fav point from me , tftc
Growing up in Coffs I’ve been wanting to visit this beautiful island since I was a little kid! And this morning just after sunrise we ventured out to find this cache, very excited to find a TB that we decided to bring home on our flight to Melbourne today. Sawtell headland has to be one of my favourite places in the universe! Thanks for the adventure and beauty!
Great hide lived here many years..but needed the ride to be just right. Left a traveller's that's been with us for a while..please help it on it's way to see the world
On a 3-week-long holiday in Australia and some geocaching along the way.

We have heard there is a nest right near gz so we will disable the cache for two months. Regards liz and bruce
Found this one on the afternoon low tide today. We were accompanied by twists747 who lives in the local area. After wading across to the island it was only a short walk to find the cache container, as the co-ords were very good. Log was signed and then some time was spent simply enjoying the magnificent views. Thank you Liz and Bruce for placing this cache in such a great location. This one gets a favourite point for the views and the experience.
Interesting Location. A bit of walking , wet feet & climbing. together with Going places 2. thanks for the cache
It wouldn’t be a holiday without a cache or two. Beautiful trek over to this one. TFTC
Found with Georgia_jane97. Shoes would’ve made the trip a lot less painful! TFTC
Fun fact: this cache is placed in a dormant volcano! Found with Selfdecapitation, TFTC
First cache for the new year. First log in the new log book too! Added a few swaps for the next finders. TFTC!!
Saw this one was low tide, quickly jumped in car. Be careful crossing as there was a strong current today. TNLNSL
TFTC, I have had my eye on this one for a while but I was never around at the right time. Today I happened to be nearby right on low tide, so a quick knee high wade across to the island and I soon had the cache in hand. Glad to finally nab this one, now to get the other tidal one at Hat Head sometime.......
Hooray. 2 years ago, this was our first attempt(unsuccessful) at finding a geocache. Today, we revisit the site with success! TFTC.
Our thanks to No_Tomorrow for replacing this cache and enjoying the experience. The cache is now ready for anyone else that wants to have an adventure
kind regards Liz and Bruce.
kind regards Liz and Bruce.
I did it!
Waterproof container, tradie tough notebook and pen all in place. Arrived minutes after lowest point in tide so had to wade, but only knee deep. Beautiful little island. Lots of birds hanging out here today. I love how there is just the one tree in the middle. A1 location. If only I could pitch my swag there... but not in this weather.
Thanks for the adventure Liz and Bruce. I hope you are having great adventures wherever you are today.

I am so sorry - it's high tide!!! So so sorry. I had the perfect container and notebook for it too.
We were hoping to be able to fix this for you today but as we arrived at the location the tide was too high.
I hope somebody replaces it soon for you.
Cheers

This cache is in trouble and may need archiving unless we can get some help to replace it. It is 10 years old and in a very special part of Australia which anyone with a sense of adventure would be happy to do. We are currently in England so if anyone can replace the cache for us it would be greatly appreciated.
The last time this one was found was over 12 months ago and there have been alot of maintenance logs for this one. Maybe this should be disabled until Liz and Bruce can attend to the maintenance on this one.
Please if you are heading over take along a container and log book. with thanks and kind regards Liz and Bruce
Aargh I've had this cache on my radar for over a year, have turned up on 2 previous occasions to find the tide too high and water too cold to wade. Finally I could get to the island easily and of course the muggled cache hasn't been replaced yet. It's pretty obvious where the hiding spot would have been, thanks the dingle berries who removed it. Ah well, maybe next trip in a few months.
Planning on heading out this way on the 17th. Will bring over a container with me, if it hasn't been done before hand.
Cheers,
Team Zawadzki

im in coffs till 2/1/16 and will try for this one. ill let you know on how i go Liz and Bruce.
This cache may be missing so we are hoping that the next geocachers attending may be able to take over a small waterproof container and log book to replace. It is such a unique spot and we would hate to see it get archived. With thanks and kind regards Liz and Bruce
6th Oct, 2015 - With clues, description and a photo of the map showing GZ in hand I waded out to the island again at low tide, only getting wet up to my waist. I searched and searched the area matching the map, description and clue for signs of the cache and found nothing except what looks like the GZ void of the cache. There was all the camo rocks lying in a lose pile but nothing else. Considering this is a easy, small cache that hasn't been found since May (with one DNF in Sept) I think it may have been muggled. I have photos of the area if the owners want to see were I was looking.
It was a really nice swim over to the island on a beautiful day. Running only on memory I searched what I thought was the GZ, but found nothing. After getting back to the 'mainland' to consult the geo-wife who had my phone with the cache details I realized that I was searching the wrong chunk of rock! I'll have to go back another day. The Island is well worth the visit, but as others have said - TAKE SHOES/THONGS
Fantastic place for a cache. Saw a whale slapping its fin on the water from here (one of many whales doing this today). The cache is (apparently) quite near where a sooty oystercatcher has its eggs on a rocky ledge. Even though we didn't find this cache, had a great time coming here.
Up on holidays from Geelong visiting family here in Coffs. We had tried for this one a while ago when we were still new and could not find it, so today being low tide and having much more experience we made our way across to this one.
The tide was low making for a easy crossing.
Upon arriving at GZ the cache was soon spotted, don't know how we missed it last time.
Thanks Liz and Bruce for the cache.
And a favorite point for the adventure.

This is a nice location. The cache is in good condition and at a spot were you can search without been seen. Has everything what a cache has to have. FP

Thanks to Gibbo003 for fixing up our cache - it was great to have a chat. kind regards Liz and Bruce
Our thanks to Feryl who did offer to return and do cache maintenance as well

Found quickly as the tide was rising with gibbo003. Replaced the container and log book with new ones. Pretty spot. TFTC
Came back to visit this one with some mini geocacher friends & found the log very soggy! The container may need replacing, or at least the ziplock bag.
What a fantastic cache. The only option this morning was to swim. Mrnoo17 took hold of the GPS as he was the tallest out of us and only had to go waist deep. While he remained half dry, Allturners and I opted to swim. The cache looked like it had even been for a swim as well. The log is unsignable.
Thanks for the cache on this lovely beach

This one proved to be a bit of an adventure! The tide was rather high when we got here, so it was off with the shirts and on with the boardies. Seaeagles1997 and Alturners swam, but I was the chief carrier of the phone GPS, I waded to the otherside. After a bit of a wander around the island, we soon discovered a VERY wet container. The log was unsignable and really needs replacing with something dry and more weather/sea spray tight. TFTC!!!!
What a great challenge fighting the current as it was on its way in, and a great find with a bliss view
Thanks for the great track

It sounds like this cache would benefit from a new water-tight container and dry log book. If a geocacher is heading out to do the cache and is organised enough to take along a container and log book it would be greatly appreciated. With thanks Liz and Bruce
We have been watching the tides for a couple of weeks to get a time when we both weren't working, its also the only cache that dosent have a smiley for me in the area. So today was the day the sun was out, the tide was at low, both had the day off, so out we went. The water was still chest height and there is no need to go to the gym with all the effort fighting the current, but we finally made it across, got to gz and had cache in hand fairly quick, signed log, Tnln and now for the workout on the way back.
Thanks for the cache, awsome spot, cache has had a bit of leakage and the log was fairly wet and the container will need replacing fairly soon (flick me an email if you would like me to do it for you if you are unable to). Found with batdos. Thanks for the cache.

Middle of winter, got up to my knees and couldn't feel my feet, gave it away for another day.
