HolyMolyThat was a heck of a challenge! And one hell of a hike. But what a view and what an adventure! Thanks so much for the hide and the experience!
Found at 1:36 PM GAFF5/1.After the heavy rain this morning and mostly last night thought that I would not be able to make it to this cache, but it was our last day in Perth so we thought why not see what the ground looks like. Arrived at the start of the track and it was fine! Clouds clearing and no rain. So off I went for the 250 metre walk and found that the track that I was on took me just about right to GZ. Started looking around for likely hiding spot and after a few moments spotted the nice sized container After signing the log book, I took a moment to appreciate the view looking down to the city skyline - just wonderful!Headed back down and was met by c-pprass at the start of the track and then off to the picnic area for lunch. Thanks to Team Gunn Parker - a very enjoyable cache.
Day 4 of our novo WA trip and today I managed to score another full day of caching. Today's plan was for a nice cruisy solo drive around the hills where I grew up (while the rest of the novos caught up with some of lady novo's friends at city beach all day). Today was going to be mid 30's and sunny so I was keen to get the hiking and bush bashing caches done before finding myself caught in the heat of the day. This was the final one of those which I found right on midday.I had solved the puzzle a few weeks back but was not 100% sure of what I had. But it looked plausible. Finally out along the tracks today and I managed to navigate my way there; I was still doubtful once at WP1 but soon made a find. That's cool! Ok so we are now going up over "there"...The journey to GZ was interesting, navigating the myriad of trails up here to try and get there with minimal bush bashing. As it turned out I was able to follow trails pretty much the whole way except for the last 40m or so and that was easy nice and open terrain. Then, a large can was found and an extraordinary amount of SWAG was hoiked whilst looking for the log. I decided to add our novo PT to all the SWAG lol. What a great GZ, too. I do love retro caches; they tend to have a raw feel about them and this one particularly I can see the thought that went into it to make it special. The views and the required navigation skills made for a fun trek here. TFTC, Team Gunn Parker. If this cache is not FP worthy I don't know what is - probably the best cache I found on our whole trip and I found about 75. One day when we are back in WA we'll add some more of your caches to the itin.#1689
A great morning for a wander in the hills..good cardiac workout as well..all co-ordinates were spot on for me..saw lots of bird life and a few roos but that was it..cache and log in excellent condition and have a fav for the whole adventure..another spot on the d/t grid filled tftc
Out for another day of caching with BJA3 & arnott family . Great spot.
All good here, TFTC!

Teamed up with TeamBarritts and Arnott Family for a days caching fun.
Thanks to all the CO's for great hides and containers.

Needed this one for a spot on my D/T grid. So glad to finally knock this one off. Found with TeamBarritts and BJA3
well not wanting to give too much away but this was a great puzzle and an amazing cache, we both enjoyed what we found at GZ, and it was well worth the walk, i love finding these and i must get round to hiding more of them.
Thanks for the old, interesting, good, DT cache!
Myself and Goose had many plans for the tickets we used for this trip, i cant remember the details but I think it was three canceled Mega's and after the last cancellation we only had so long to use up the tickets and with a little bit of cash added we worked out we could have to a trip to Perth to hunt for some fine looking caches.
A 'shortlist' of 587 caches was put together for the trip albeit with the PQs of the whole state as a backup just in case we wanted to forgo sleep, in the end we found 120ish caches in 4 and a bit days, 60 of which were in the 4WD FOTT Go Bush series.
While we were over we got a chance to go to a GIFF Event and briefly meet a few of you locals, thanks for the chat.
Thanks for the cache.

This cache had everything! A good puzzle, a great container, an interesting area, a good walk and a nice bit of age. Who could ask for anything more?
Fav point for sure!
Thanks Team Gunn Parker
With the Wangaratta mega postponed, I suggested to stainless steel rat that perhaps a Perth trip was in order, knowing full well he hadn’t graced the West yet. We used up one of our last airline credits and with a little top up we were set. As usual we had a hit list of high D/Ts, virtuals (although I had done most on previous trips), oldies, large caches and favoured ones. We only scratched the surface but had a blast doing it.
We brought a ladder and pole with us but kayaks were going to be way too much to cope with on a five day whirlwind visit! Thanks to the many CO’s for their hides, maintenance and assistance.

Heading out for a day of geocaching with Meme28 , Kapelula and the geokids. All caches found in good condition. Lovely evening to come for a walk to find this puzzle. Logged as MIK
I walked straight past this one, lucky one of the Geokids had their eyes open. Found whilst out with I C Nothing and Meme28. Some logs signed as MIK. TFTH!
Teaming up with ICNothing Kapelula Cirrus WA and the geo kids as Team MIK and CWA made the trek for this unloved one for early a year! Cheers
This is the second go I have had at this one and got some help from some others to get pointed in the right direction.
Came for a wander after the nearby event and pleased to be able to grab this new D/T combination.

The whole family and I teamed up with SirFancy, I C Nothing, Meme28 and Kapelula for some caching around the Perth Hills before heading to AlliedOz’s Community Celebration Event at Bickley Reservoir.
Focused on grabbing some older caches and some new D/T’s and ended up with 10 finds and 0 DNF’s

What an epic adventure! Made sweeter by a race against time before we have to pick the kids up. I set up the necessary decryption tools on the drive over, we googled the clues while bush bashing to nearby caches then sat down briefly near the reservoir to work out the co-ordinates to WP1.
The lack of a co-ordinate checker was a bit unsettling but we thought we’d give it a go, and after using nearby tracks, got to the co-ords and found the tag quite readily.
We weren’t sure if we would have time to find the cache but wanted to give it a go. It was quite a pleasant walk and the view was spectacular. The cache was easily located at GZ (and I did a little dance). We felt quite accomplished in solving and finding this one within an hour and a half while finding other caches. Thanks for a very cool cache and some fun exercise, have a favourite point.

Teamed up with the crew and headed to the hills. Not look forward to getting out but it wasn't as bad of terrain as we though. Weather a bit cooler helped too. Managed to get a D/T squared filled in too. TFTH
Thanks Team Gunn Parker for placing and maintaining this cache. Out and about with Barnzy12 and Leg5 getting a few smily faces.
This walk in wasn’t too back just not great if wearing shorts!

Teamed up with Cravo10 and Leg5 to tackle these two caches near the Bickley reservoir.
Track looked steep on some of the maps we were looking at so precautions were taken. Wasn’t all that bad in the end and we managed to snag both caches, 12 months unloved on each and one of them was an oldie (part of WAs current 100 oldest).
Thanks for the afternoons fun Team Gunn Parker and Cravo10 and Leg5 for the company.

I thought I would bring the geopup to collect this one, I was trying to wear her out. I think I also wore myself out. Found a little trail to the final gz and that made it slightly easier. We didn't see any slithery things but we heard a few rustles and startled a few kangaroos. We also came across some Blue Wrens. TFTC
we had this one solved for some time and today was the day to finally go for the find.
Parked the car close by and made m way to wp1 noted the coordinates and of the final to make a quick find.
Thanks for the cache Team Gunn Parker

Fra & PP1 set out on a mammoth adventure to find this one, it turned out to be even harder than anticipated as there was some doubt over our WP1 coordinates. Throw into the mix the recent heavy rains & a small creek becomes a raging torrent. All’s well that ends well. They cancelled the request for the kayaks to be brought to site when they finally located the prize. Well done lads. Now PP2 qualify for GC7QJRM & Fratra are well on the way. TFTC Team Gunn Parker
Fra and PP1 set out on a boys caching day and this was the first and most important target of the morning.
They struggled a bit at WP1 but after using the PAF card they got some appreciated help and were on their way again.
Winter rains and cold weather made for a chilly crossing of the creek. Maybe Wellies would have saved having to take shoes and socks off.
After 90 minutes of descending, ascending, searching, descending, ascending etc etc the log was finally signed. A nice puzzle, a pleasant (though chilly) walk and amazing views. A fave for the experience and the much needed D/T.
TFTC Team Gunn Parker this is find # 5142 for us.

Woohoo, how excited are we??!! This D/T is basically impossible for us to grab in Tassie, there is one but it is a night camp over which is beyond our level these days! We put it on the list to solve and then find once we got to Perth! Solved we did and today we arrived in Perth and a walk we must do!! We found what we wanted to find first which was a relief and then the next part! Of course we found an easier way out than in, but our way in was just a little longer! We are now celebrating our find! What a lovely area. Thank you so much and a favourite from us!
Headed out for Mothers Day for a walk around the Bickley Reservoir in hope of finding this one which was solved many moons ago now... We headed to WP1 & after lots of slipping & sliding around the place we made it to our calculated co-ords [?] We were searching for quite some time before consulting help from friend... We realised that we had a bit of an error with our co-ords so with a bit of rejigging we headed a little further east to find the info for the final. Hmmm, not quite where we were expecting it to be, but off we went
In no time at all, we were soon on the hunt & Master 6 quickly found the prize... TFTC Team Gunn Parker The view was hampered by the smoke haze today, but nevertheless, a great spot for a cache, cheers!

With some cool weather forecast this morning I decided to do some caching in the hill, and this area looked good as there were several puzzle caches here I'd solved some time ago.
Had to PAF at wp1 as I just couldn't spot it. Soon had it after verifying I was in the right spot. Soon had the final coords.
Great morning for a walk up here, views would have been good if not for the smoke haze.
Dropped in an apt Geocoin while here. TFTC, fav point awarded.

After our Parisian trip in the first week of the Easter holidays, we (i and my husband Voske1967) went for 3 weeks to the other side of the world to enjoy the friendly atmosphere, food, landscapes and culture of Australia. Of course, geocaches were also searched for and found in Perth, Monkey Mia, Denham, Newman, Port Hedland ... . This trip downunder will stay with us for a long time! It was pretty hot in Australia for the autumn season
Having been sitting on a solve of waypoint 1 for a while we thought it about time to turn this into a find. Not sure if it was the terrain rating or past logs talking about some decoys but we had no problem with way point 1 and despite the intermittent rain handled the terrain ok. The GPSr circled near GZ but we made the find of the good sized annoying can. The cacher who signed before has got a little muddled with the dates TFTC.
after a long adventure and many beautiful wildflowers we finally found our first mystery cache. what a great experience, favourite point for this
Thank you! What an adventure. I spotted this cache on the map yesterday and decided I had to find it. It took a fair while to figure out the coordinates, but I eventually had something workable. I headed off today, leaving the car at the car park down the road. A short stroll later and I hit a road block. Or should I say river block. I looked upstream and downstream and couldn't see a way across. I knew there was nothing else to do but take off the shoes, hike up the pants and wade across. Easier said than done though. I'd dressed for bush bashing. I'd prioritised protection over comfort and was wearing my fully laced 14 hole doc martens. I eventually got those buggers off and entered the water. COLD! COLD! COLD!
Once on the other side, the boots went back on, but only half heartedly laced. I knew I was going to have to do it all again - the car was on the other side.
I soon found WP1 and with the new numbers journeyed over to GZ. After admiring the wonderful view, I found the generous sized cache.
My frozen toes would like to award a favourite for the adventure.

Find 3 of 11 on a day trip to Lesmurdie/Bickley/Cannington, first on foot then by mountain bike.
After the recent heavy rains the Canning River was seriously overflowing so some caches had to be ignored as they were under water!
Even this far into the hills the channel was flowing very well and with a 4.5/4.5 on offer, shoes off and wading was the only choice. The first stage was found in a sensible place (thanks Axell and Leega) and the bash across to the final was not as hard as it looked. The whole walk probably took half an hour tops. Worth a favourite for all of the elements combined including the large container from which we liberated the image of Lionel Richie ("Hello?")

Managed to work this one out with axell33, thx to his knowledge and a bit of research and it was spot on with just a little bit of doubt before the find of the coordinates! A good hearty walk through our magnificent bush at this time of year is always good and with great views too! Then a quick search for the final and all was good. Great cache, great puzzle, great walk, great view! Tyftc
Staying up in Lesmurdie last night we spotted this cache and thought we would grab this one in the morning. So the information was gathered and Leega did a great job with the maths. Really enjoyed this one, this was the first book I ever read and still a favourite to this day. We started the hike and lucky for us it turned out to be a beautiful morning. We found what was needed at waypoint 1 but it was just laying on the ground. So we put it where we thought it should be and headed off to find the dead mans chest. Once we arrived at the spot the search began and after a couple of minutes Leega had the treasure in her clutches. Thanks for bring us here, it's a beautiful spot. TFTC Team Gunn Parker.
While in Perth visiting our daughter and her family, we took the opportunity to find a few caches with D/T combinations that are not that easy for us to find in Queensland to help us complete another loop of our D/T grid Between commitments with the family and catching up with other people, we managed to stop by at this cache for a quick find.
Thank you Team Gunn Parker for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

Today was the day I was gonna reach to my 1000th of finds & Mistraluna was going to complete her Grid!! 2 great milestones on the horizon, we packed our water bottles & headed north & south to meet up & face our milestones.
Like always Mistraluna had done the hard work & solved the puzzle & there's no point of hiding it but I just pretty much had to turn up & be the extra pair of eyes to search for the final coordinates.
Luckily today it was great success on our behalf & my young eyes did their job so off we went to get the final.
Good spot here & thank you, Team Gunn Parker, for the effort of placing this hide.
Bye bye hundreds, I'm a #1000 finds girl now!

As a child, I used to frequent this area, attending events at he nearby campsite. What a nice walk and a reward of nice views. TFTC Team Gunn Parker
This cache was placed and published 5 years before I started caching, and yet it has taken me another 6 years before I came out her and claimed my smiley. And what a huge smiley it was too. This one is my 9500th cache that I have found to date. It also marks the completion of my D/T grid as well - finally!! My companion on the adventure was also marking a milestone here as well, but I will let her tell that story. Suffice it to say that there were big celebrations all around here, and we came away very pleased with ourselves.
Many thanks for setting up the puzzle, placing and maintaining the cache. and of course, for the smiley. Cheers Team Gunn Parker.

I have made it a bit of a mission of late to chase down some of the older caches in WA, and attempt to complete my Jasmer Challenge.
This cache is one of the ones that I needed to grab to fill in a date period.
This one has been on my radar for quite a while. I initially only grabbed about half the info, and couldn't figure out the rest. I had another crack at it recently after realising it would fill a month in my Jasmer Challenge. What a beautiful afternoon to be out caching.
TFTC Team Gunn Parker.
Team Gunn Parker, I found your cache Dead Mans Chest on 25/06/2016 at 3:32 PM.
This is my find #2734 and find #7 today.

First point was the obvious place but not what I was expecting. And then to go 400m the otherside well I had to go back to the car i suppose! got to the first point, no you cant see the city so I knew there was a multicache in front of me so I wasnt looking for an ammo box that was where they are stored on the other side. And yes you can see the city from there. I enjoyed it Gunn Parker. Thank you

Been having a go at these questions on and off for a while now and eventually came up with some workable numbers a couple of weeks ago. A bit quiet at work today so thought I would venture out to see if I could find waypoint one.
Parked up and had a bit of a stroll down then up again in the midday heat. Eventually arrived at a likely suspect and was searching around for a bit thinking I may have made a booboo somewhere. Just then I spotted some fishing line around the tree but there was nothing attached. A quick forage around on the ground and I spotted the tag.
Took in some of the views while punching the numbers in the GPSr and saw that I had some more downs and ups to negotiate. After about twenty minutes I was approaching GZ with a considerable amount of sweat on the brow and luckily located the ammo can after a short search.
Grabbed the TB from this rather lonely cache to move on and after taking in some more views I headed back to the car. This one fills a spot in my 'Jasmer' challenge so awarding a favourite for that and the adventure.
Team Gunn Parker I found your cache at 12:48pm, this was the 1st of 4 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 2862. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

and mud, but a very enjoyable outing all the same.
Found the DMC and we dropped off MRA SA Toy Run TB.

Tagging along with K.B. while we were in the area for the event. Thanks for the opportunity to log this find.
Great to eventually locate the chest. Plenty of treasure but I was ill prepared so no swap was made. Thanks Team Gunn Parker.
Back again today armed with corrected coords (2 silly mistakes pointed out by previous cacher.Thanks.) This time the walk was an absolute breeze. The first time we found ourselves right up on top of the hill after about 450m bush bashing. We thought this was normal for a 4.5 terrain rating! Then on to the treasure and we found it. On the way back we discovered all the trails we should have taken to get up there. I did a speed read of the book for answers to the questions and enjoyed that and liked the way you could imagine yourself on Treasure Island during the quest. TFTC. This fills a spot on our D/T and gets a favourite from us.
We attempted this one today. Found the walk ok, but could find no WP1 coords.
This was one of the caches on our 'to do list' for today - this one in particular for its difficulty/terrain rating for our stats. We sorted out the first waypoint after answering the questions and while I acted as the 'director of operations', geo-hubby and JacobsCrew2 set off to find the final location. No problem with locating the final and soon after had the cache in hand. Thanks Team Gunn Parker for the adventure.
Out with Richlinks picking up a few caches that has been on our hit list, I had this one solved for awhile and today we decided to give it a bash and nice little hide...TFTC
After three trips up the hill to search, recheck, then search some more, the last through so much mud after 53mm of rain and four trips to various GZ's, finally today I can log a find.
This cache has been a slog but I should have realised that pirates have more than one way to protect their treasure.
Thanks to Jinta29 for a shove in the right direction and Team Gunn Parker for an excellent cache! A favourite point from us!!
Grabbed 'Sydney the Koala' who has been in this cache for awhile!

Headed out this morning with Jinta29 to grab a few puzzles.
A nice early start and hoping to be home at a decent hour for the family.
We parked up at the end of the road, and headed off to WP1 after our DNF nearby.
Quite a steep climb to WP1 and it took a bit of a search, we thought the WP may be AWOl but it was Jinta who came up trumps.
Then off to the final. A fair old hike but we were going that way anyhow.
Arrived at GZ and soon found the cache. Very well stocked as well.
Great view to the city, but we werent staying long. More caches to find.

Kyzabra and I headed away from home early this morning to grab a few old caches in the area. There was also a couple of high difficulty, high terrain caches on the list .
A neat puzzle that I was able to solve YAY. We approached WP1 from our parking area and I lost a little bit of confidence in my puzzle solving skills until the TADAH moment when I was able to hold the cords for the final. Off we headed and after quite a walk we were abler to add our names to the log sheet. TFTC Team Gunn Parker

It was my first trip to Buckley today and was blown away by the beauty and tranquility of the area. With a few hours to myself I decided to explore a little and discover some caches along the way. This was cache 1. Treasure Island was one of my favourite books as a young boy so I had no problems in answering the required questions. I was quite relieved to quickly find the coordinates and the way point and was energized to find the cache. Beautiful view at the end and was found quickly once I arrived at GZ. Dropped a TB. TFTC Team Gunn Parker
We quickly solved the puzzle last night, love E-books these days, especially with a search function. This was the second cache for us today in this area. A quick walk to the 1st WP and had to make a quick to find the info as it was not where it was intended. We took down the info and did a repair job on the WP for the CO. We preceded to the final GZ and made a quick find, we were happy to find this one as it had not been found since Aug 2011. We found the terrain ok, as long as you choose your trails. SL TFTC Team Gunn Parker.
Was with Keego and had sugested we do this on first or the waypoint to find out the directions we would be heading. This became the second cache for the morning.
Not a 4 for us so I made up for it later .

This is a seriously fun cache. Nice bit of flashback to childhood in researching the puzzle then off to make the up hill and down dale searches. Made a couple of wrong assumptions so the hunt was at times more scenic than it needed be be we got there in the end. A really good one TGP. Thanks heaps
I solved this puzzle some time ago, but then wrote down one of the numbers incorrectly. Thankfully, my brother and I checked our results against each other, and resolved the puzzle before heading off to the GZ to locate the the next piece of information. We had no option but to get our feet wet as we did so, but after working our way through the mud and thick scrub, we located the necessary piece of information, and headed to the final. Thankfully, this seemed a little easier to get to and we managed to locate the cache without much searching. I really enjoyed this caching. TFTC and puzzle!
My brother and I both took a day off work and went for a bit of caching on a really nice day in the middle of Winter. Worked out the coord for WP1 ok, but getting there was interesting. We did a bit of bush-bashing and I also made it without getting my feet wet, thanks mainly to my shoes I bought in the UK last year when I wanted something a bit more snow-proof - turns out they're also brook proof. Nice spot at WP1 and the way over to GZ was also pleasant. TFTC! I might just go back for the nice walk...
Oh yes, today was the first time for both of us that we have seen a duck perched in a tree. Yes, a duck. How odd...

Answered the questions last week after we both finished the book - that was easy. Walked over to GZ but no luck. Back to the car for lunch, realised we'd miscalculated an answer so back to GZ. No luck, then realised we'd answered the number as letters, 3rd time lucky! Great cache, echo the sentiment regarding terrain
The terrain is probably not as hard as the stars show so hopefully it will not put people off coming to it, another day of plenty of walking to cover different caches. Thought we may have been going to DNF at the 1st waypoint as we could not find the tag. Just about to give up and Geo wife spotted it higher than we would have expected, possibly as the fixture it was placed on may have grown a bit in 4 years! Lowered it down a bit otherwise it can not be read by vertically challenged persons. TNLNSL. Thanks again for bringing us out to the area.
Found it at last. This cache has been my nemesis for some time. I will not be beaten.
As an ongoing project for quite some considerable time. The puzzle was duly solved and the relevant information extracted. Now its off to do the field work.
While out gathering some other nearby caches in the Bickley area and coming to the end of tiring day I saw this cache on my GPS since it was on my way back to the car, I thought why not one more so off I set. Tracking down from the hills I found myself in the middle of a car park, was a little mystified so I called it quits for the day and headed off to the car, half way back I realised I hadn't updated the published coordinates with the solved coordinates. Probably just as well because I was on my last legs as I reached the car to go home. the cache will have to wait for another day.
Second attempt again saw me picking a few more caches up in the area and having another go at Dead Mans Chest. Arrived at the calculated coordinates and searched high and low, searched around for a while but did not find the next any tags. Decided to check the maths and came to the conclusion that a=26 not 1 as I had used. ( Mental note to self read the instructions carefully)
I started to recalculate all the clues but had to give up as I soon realised I didn't have all the information with me. So it was off home to look up the information and recalculated the coordinates.
Third attempt Only three caches left in the Bickley area on my to do list. This trip I picked up Caching the Bridge and Old Victoria before attempting this DMC again. Well I searched and searched but could not find the tag, even had a friend with me to help, but even this did not help. Returned home and rechecked the clues, finding an error in one of the numbers. I was only off by 0.030 in the southing.
Attempt number four saw me with the correct waypoint coordinates. Yes I found the tag so off to the cache I go only to find a Red Herring. ARRRGGGGGGG.
Due to time restraints and another appointment I had to leave the search vowing to return and find the cache.
The fifth and final attempt, brought along a friend for an extra pair of eyes, and they were needed as he found the tag after a reasonable search. Coordinates in hand we set off and duly located the cache. A most enjoyable hunt and a great day to be out. We saw plenty of wildlife around on our trip to the cache.
No swaps were made, Thanks for the hunt and the cache, I have had my exercise on this one.

How happy are we to be able to log a find for this cache, at last. We returned, we saw the error of out ways and found a well stocked cache in the obvious spot. Thanx for all the fun,
We completed the research some time last year but it seemed that today was the first opportunity we had to go after the treasure, there are just so many caches out there just waiting to be found.
Anyway, WP1 point one went with out a hitch, or so we though, and off we went to get the booty. We came unstuck at the next waypoint so it looks as though we are going to have to retrace our steps. Grrrr [:(!]

Well we certainly got our 30 minutes of exercise with this one. Very devious. Got there in the end. TNLN. Thanks Team Gunn Parker
I bought a copy of Treasure Island about six months ago with the aim of completing this cache. It didn't take long to read the book and get the clues but it has taken me a while to get out and actually find the cache. No problems finding the 1st WP and no problems finding the final cache. TNLN. TFTH.
Success this time! After chasing red herrings here about 18 months ago I found another treasure chest a couple of days ago which gave me the incentive to seek out this one again. Was a little more careful this time and so was able to enjoy looking through all the loot while sitting and admiring the great view. TNLN though. With the taste of success in my mouth I can highly recommend this cache - when the weather is not hot though - despite the frustration it can cause...
Thanks for a great hunt, Team Gunn Parker.

Well, this was a long time between visits for us!
We were sort of beta testers for this, and found the waypoint but were led off to an incorrect GZ then.
So, armed with the correct GZ coords this time, we tried again, only a couple of years later!
It was nearly the closing time for the gate, so we walked in from there (it's only a few hundred metres), a bit worried about the glassy evidence of what had happened to other cars there...
A bit of light bush-bashing later, and we came upon a mob of roos near GZ, who decided that they didn't need to guard the cache and hopped away.
We rescued a couple of TBs from this sadly under-visited cache and then took the short-cut back to the car.
There were a couple of car-loads of local yobbos there, who had obviously prevented any other yobbos from breaking into our car!
This is a lovely part of the hills, and it can be done in less than two years, really!

Finally with a lot of help from Team Gunn Parker we have conquered this cache. Took the G clamps, left a torch & battery. Dropped off Bookworm TB (who wishes to continue visiting caches with literary themes now its finished reading Treasure Island) and we also dropped off Coast Guard Geocoin (which wishes to visit caches with a difficulty rating of 4 of more). We know Dead Mans Chest is only 3 1/2 difficulty but we felt it was definately worthy of a 4 in our case!! Many thanks for the puzzle & the help.
Well!! Had the right co-ords. Looked and looked, and finally some success, so we thought, but alas, we were wrong. After 2.5 hours searching today the goal still eludes us. What didn't elude us were the 40 odd ticks that decided to invade our private space. So, back to the drawing board!
Woo!! More trips back & forth across the gully today resulted in success! Very happy to find this one, TNLN T4TH!
Yes Yes. Found the cache at 12.30pm. Real challenge for me to achievement this one. Phew!!! Anyway I am real enjoyed all morning. No swap SL. Thank you for organise the cache and hunt.

Hours of searching with fruitless results. Like others before me I also did multiple trips back and forth across the gully. Having spent the best part of an hour searching for WP1, and even rechecking my math, in the end I wasn't able to find the tag with the answer I needed.
Needed a mystery cache with a travel bug in it as a place to leave a geocoin (The 12) with a specific mission and needed John Howard for another mystery cache requirement and this was the closest. Never read Treasure Island so get that out of the way first - solve for the co-ords of the first waypoint - check for reasonable in mapsource and google earth - seems like it's all OK so lets go. The area "that you could park" is clearly marked with mutiple signs as a "NO PARKING ROAD OR VERGE" area - find somewhere else (a fair way away to park - that's OK part of all this is going for the walk) so walk to the first waypoint co-ords. There is a "standout" item exactly on the spot so this looks promising! "A tag with the real co-ords is hidden at" is what I am looking for - I cross gridded and circle searched everything within 50 metres of that spot (normally my GPS puts me within 1m of co-ords given) - this is so frustrating - after 2 hours I have to conclude 1) I am at the wrong spot 2) The "tag" has disappeared or 3) I just can't find it. I don't mind a 100k round trip (unless it's wasted) but I would like to know what went wrong. Now I have to find another cache for "The 12" and another John Howard - pity - would have solved both at once!
AAAaaarghh! Can't find another John Howard!!!

Came and dropped Sabre's light sabre TB and John Howard [Lizardtoadz] Geocoin into the cache. Cache is in the excellent condition and very good goodies in it. Anigozanthos managlesii [Kangaroo Paw] Geocoin is destined to the other cache.
hmmmmm.....
seems like another climb will be required to get my pieces of eight...
just as well the rum is not so well hidden!

Starting looking up the answers on the net. Then decided I hadn't read the book for a while so went to the library to borrow it. Which reminds me it was due back last Friday.
Wouldn't want to be the one that walks from ones side of this gully to the other continuously. (Oh that's right someone has. TeeHee)
Cache was located easily in the end in the company of Geobrett and SueDenHarr. Took Finders Card Five.

Ventured out with Belken and Geobrett for this one. Had to rehash my knowledge online to get the clues.
No probs once there but is there a cache in WA not located under a "Grass Tree"?
Yes - I know there is but I have to admit that Grass Trees are good hiding positions.

My rum induced fugue of the other day dispelled I thought logic and reason had returned and set off again today to try out my new theory.
Area was overrun with student orienteerers and then it rained. After some delay I continued my damp and soggy search but alas it was all to no avail and again I left empty handed.
Personal frustration levels rising.
Memo to self: Make appointment to see optician or psychiatrist!

I certainly "got my thirty" today but alas not my eight (piece of eight that is).
I had armed myself with the relevant classical text and worked out what I thought the answers to be and with some time to myself this afternoon thought I'd give it a go.
On arriving at the listed coordinates my own calculated coordinates seemed less than ideal but I bravely ventured forth anyway. Alas they did not yield the desired result and so I completed a pleasant circumnavigation of the area and returned to the picnic tables for a break and to reassess my calculations. With my simple (but frustrating) error quickly identified I set off again on a more promising track.
My spirits lifted upon seeing what I believed to be the familiar pedestrian imprints of "Chilly" - surely I was on the right track now. I continued on and was further encouraged by signs of hiking pole indentations - "Chilly" again? A short search, SUCCESS! and then on to the next waypoint.
Once again a short search and the waypoint was found. It was however at this point that my good sense of humour was somewhat tested and I had cause to regret leaving "My little book of calm" at home.
I continued on but felt I was missing something and my further searches proved fruitless. As the golden sun arced across the sky I reluctantly came to the conclusion that the only other gold I was to lay my hands on today was a double ration of dark rum on my return home.

TGP requested I try again with the corrected questions and coordinate but the new coordinate is not all that far from where I was the other day and was included in the search area of the other day.
So after another 2 hours of searching a slightly bigger area and not finding the cache coordinates I have given it away. (Now a total of 7 hours and is quite enough considering what the other half is now saying about the time wasted so far.)
